Point of law. If there is surviving, non insane non corrupted, crew on the Bounty then the ship was never derilict. So no salvage for us. I think the best we could get would be a fee for removing the navigator and towing the hulk back to civilization.
Or am I missing something?
First Officer Alessaunder |
What the Imperium doesn't know won't hurt them. I don't think this tiny remnant of crew will hold it against us if we quietly add them to our own crew.
Plus, we are the law in the Koronus Expanse.
DM Hector |
Lol, Reg. Sorry, guys, meant to update last night, but massive l. storms knocked out power in most of the city. We're closing in on the climax of this endeavor. Thanks for hanging in there so far. I know I haven't been the most consistent GM.

Gentlemen, I promised them a return to Imperial Space wink wink or the opportunity to join our merry band hehehe
Vorgen Alph |
Aha figured it out. Forgot the bounty was a navy ship and that we have right of recovery granted by the navy.
With this factored in the fact that there is surviving crew adds to the legitamacy of our claim as noone could argue that the ship was ever truely derelict.
So we are not on a salvage mission. We are in fact subcontracting the rescue and recovery of the Bounty from the Navy in return for whatever we can get for the damaged vessel. I suspect the Navy will be very happy if we can return the survivors.
Vorgen Alph |
Well I was more concerned with a)the justice of it. And b) not wanting to give a political enemy fodder to damage the house. Even if that damage has to await our return to the empire.
When I was under the mistaken impression that the bounty belonged to another trader I was concerned that running roughshod over the survivors interests, even if we were legally in the right, would leave a bad ordure clinging to our name. We might find it harder to recruit good crew and have to take the dregs and castoffs.
Now that I remembered that it is a navy ship and we are effectively working for them all is good.
And it was a mental exercise, a bit of fun if you will.
Vorgen Alph |
Cool.
I must admit I came into this thinking more LBB Traveler and less floating battle-fortress. But I think I am bending my head around it.
Just thinking how clannish and insular the various ship-cultures must be. Rumor and weak-ties would be the main modes for information flow. Reputation would be everything, and given the basically ship based speed of communication in the empire a black spot could be very hard to live down.
Gads what a competent Pathfinder Court-bard could do to this culture, but then that is basically what Alessunder does, no?
DM Hector |
Just so we're clear on this, I'm not trying to c@&^-block Vorgen's ideas. I apologize if that's the way it's coming off. Also, it's cool to have a little conflict amongst the officers. Conflict is the essence of drama after all. Just make sure that it stays in-character. And as far as what you guys do with the survivors and the worm are completely up to you.
Vorgen Alph |
It's all good DM.
Vorgen and Alessunder just have differing priorities. Civility will be maintained.
There is one thing though. Widgeon did violate a direct order by reattaching the Father William to the Bounty. Vorgen will be quite upset when he learns this has happened.
Sarvus Trask |
Why Radavel, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you've played in this mod before, lol.
Hehehe actually I have played this mod before but we only got in as far as the bridge scene :-)
I like the idea of locking down certain doors from our present location to the bridge. That way we get to face all enemies from one direction and we won't get mobbed from multiple attack vectors.
We could also do it ala Diehard.
First Officer Alessaunder |
I'll be out of contact until the very end of July, due to a trip to Kiev followed by days spent packing up the flat i'm living in here in Ukraine followed by a 3 day bus journey back. Its easier to just declare my absence now rather than try and keep up with things during this busy time. Roll on August!
DM Hector |
Have a good trip, AK!
On a separate note, this mod is pretty much all over but the paperwork. I'll let you know of any gains as soon as I get home from work and can go back over the adventure. With that, though, this was originally advertised as the Warpstorm Trilogy. I'm excited as this is the first PbP that I've gotten through a full adventure, and I'd like you guys' help with an AAR for it (basically criticisms, critiques, and thoughts in general on what you liked and didn't like in the game and how it could be made better). Also, if you guys are still wanting to go on to the next part. I know we went through a few lulls and figured I'd give you guys the option now.
Vorgen Alph |
For my part I was suprised at how easy the warped navi went down. I mean it was a lucky shot but not that lucky.
Also there was never a feeling of real threat. Perhaps if the navi beat one or two of us to jelly before we managed a way out of the bridge in the first fight, or tried to take over our navigator?
All in all a good introduction and I am looking forward to more.
DM Hector |
I honestly expected that to be a tougher fight than it was, but hey, the 40k rpg's are like that. They can shift at a moments notice with a single die roll in either direction. And as an intro, it wasn't meant to be that threatening. I also didn't think it would be that easy either, but hey... when all of the opponents wear no armour...
First Officer Alessaunder |
+19? Jesus. Major endeavours are normally like +5 or something aren't they? Are you sure that's correct?
Just got back from Kiev, still not really in a position to post properly. I'll update the ship and Alessaunder in late July.
The Adamant Will |
Nice. If that is correct we've almost doubled our PF, but it seems excessively high- guess its just a generous scenario.
Does our ship grant us any extra achievement points to that total or are they already included? We add 75 points to any military objective, FWIW.
Edit: The Adamant Will is now updated, our PF is 40. I'll quickly update Alessaunder and then i'll have to be off packing.
First Officer Alessaunder |
Alessaunder is now updated. Suggest we begin to think about resupply and how many acquisitions we'll be able to make. See you in 2 weeks!
P.S- Silas, thinking about taking Secret Tongue (Rogue Trader)? I will if you will.

I want the Will armed to the teeth :-)
By the way, the influx of the new crew members should increase the competence level of the crew, yes?
Will take that next time we get XP. How much XP do we have for finishing?
EDIT: oh 500 XP, what to get aside from the Secret thingy....
Lord-Captain Silas Tyr |
Next stop for our merry band is the nearest planet where we can refit the Will to its former martial glory, agreed?
Thinking of getting:
Tenebro-Maze
Extended Supply Vaults
Barracks
Armoured Prow
Other weapons with better range e.g. torpedoes :-)
First Officer Alessaunder |
Last post then back to packing :P.
Ship components still not truly financially feasible. Any component "for War" is a -30 to effective PF, leaving us with less than a 10% chance to find any of them (let alone of decent quality). Best to save the war components for later, for now we have a pretty terrifying gun battery anyway.
GM- preferably, could we get a certain amount of 'Ship Acquisitions' for the group on top of individual acquisitions? Would prefer to keep the two seperate.
Lord-Captain Silas Tyr |
Getting:
Awareness (100)
Secret Tongue (Rogue Trader) (100)
Renowned Warrant (200)
Simple Advance (5%) Fel (100)
Next XP will be spent on advances on WS and Int ;-)
In the right sort of setting, Silas gets an additional +15 % bonus to interaction rolls :-)
