With the iron gate in the way, Halkale can see no other exits in the room, although the northern wall (left on this map) is not visible from his vantage point.
T'kk'tck takes a peek down the other passage, but can only see a couple of natural stone columns from the opening.
Moadis uses this the opportunity to search the Topaz Titan, but a quick examination does not reveal anyone on board, although there are many signs of recent habitation. It would take around an hour to search the ship completely.
The dog-like creatures in the other room look vaguely familiar to Valik, but he can't quite place them. Melufiuos, on the other hand, recognizes them as trollhounds. The most pertinent facts he recalls are that the creatures possess salivia that cause a disease called Bloodfire fever, although they themselves are immune. Furthermore, these creatures naturally regenerate all injuries unless in the presence of acid or fire. They are fearless while hunting or in a fight and are always hungry.

At Melufiuos' first attempt to jam the door shut, he makes only a light noise, but yet the trollhounds are immediately alerted and come running for the door, barking. With the gate in the way, the creatures pose no immediate danger to the group. Even when trying it again, the elf still has trouble getting the door properly jammed.

Moadis |
Can we try to jamm the door by using the not-subtle way? By attacking it with a blunt object to bend it out of its tracks.
Putting all his weight behind a powerfull swing Moadis hammers one of the door's corners trying to stuck it closed.

The amateur rouge curses his clumsy hands and then sighs, "Sorry guys, were gonna have company soon. Better get ready." He hastens to get out of the way when he sees Modias approaching with his hammer.
It is probably too early, but Mel burns a charge on his wand of shield anyway.

With the trollhounds continuing to bark and growl, Moadis ignores them and works to break the gate off its tracks with his hammer. With one sure blow, the door bends out of its groove, probably ruining whatever mechanism used to open it. Most likely the only way to open the gate now would be sheer physical strength.
Despite all the noise from the door and the trollhounds, no one emerges from the other passage or ship.

Following Moadis into the next passage, you see three sets of wooden stocks hanging from the northern wall of this room, pitons chaining the devices to the rock. Light flickers into the room from the water out in the cavern’s main chamber to the west, and small holes in the ceiling act as skylights, ensuring that the room needs no torches to light it during the day. Several natural stone columns break up the center of the cavern, sending shafts of shadow across the dimly-lit chamber.
Before crossing into the room proper, Moadis sees two disreputable looking humans hiding behind two of the columns.

in anticipation of the inevitable
Melufious is startled when the paladin's voice rings out. He cringes at the words Moadis so boldly utters and fires off a charge from his shield wand almost before he realizes he is doing it.

Emerging from behind one of the eastern columns previously undetected by Moadis, is a woman with scaly skin who holds a cutlass to the throat of a bound and gagged older man of apparent Tian descent. He appears to be somewhat injured.
"Ok, so here's the deal. You let me and my crew leave on our ship and I'll spare Hirako's life. If you attack us, he dies." The woman says, laying out her terms simply.
Halkale Timarson |
"Who is he?" Halkale asks, moving around to have a better shot at someone.
move me north by the wall up until on the same row as the woman.

I may let you go, but I want some answers first. What is going on here?
So... what do we do? Moadis is prepared to cut a deal with her and let her go. The only other solution I am seeing here is something on the lines of color spray or hold person... What do you guys want to do?
T'kk'tck Greenbeak |
I'm not sure she or any of her goons can see me. I could sit over here next to the exit and color spray them when they come around the corner. Provided you arrange for them to seperate from the prisoner and melf tells T'kk what is going on.
Basically thinking: 1) Illusion to look like a rock or part of the rock wall. 2) Readied Color Spray.
I'd be out of spells but that's where having buddies comes in.
Melufiuos Benidictus |
yeah, I was kind of thinking we'd have to do something like that, except that I didn't have such a cool plan. Oh! Mel has a color spray left too.. Double color spray!!.. HeHeHe..yes, if we cannot come up with a better plan, Mel will certainly start whispering with the deliciously mischievous gnome.

GM Harker |
Ok, so the plan is to pretend to make the deal to allow her and her cronies to leave (without Moadis knowing), then color spray them on the way out? If so, please make take the appropriate actions in character to facilitate that.
"If I let him go, elf, there's nothing stopping you from flattening me either." Alejia retorts to Melufiuos' threat, although it's clear she seems a little taken aback by it. She then replies to Moadis, "I think you know what's going on, you don't look like bumpkins who came here by mistake. I hold all the cards, either get out of my way and let us leave, or Tammerhawk loses another one of his pet scholars."
Halkale Timarson |
Halkale says to Moadis, "Doesn't seem we have a choice, I'll back out." Halkale moves back out the tunnel and then looks for a place to hide.
Hiding outside the tunnel, on the way to the boat. Survival to find something?
Melufiuos Benidictus |
Mel backs down too, but stops to whisper plans with T. He too looks for a good place for the ambush.

Potential hiding spots would be in among the cargo near the bottom of the map, or on board one of the ships. These pirates appear somewhat shrewd, however, so there's a chance that they will notice if one or more of you disappear, especially the ones near the front that talked to them.
Melufiuos Benidictus |
OK. So it sounds like the only one hiding will be the little gnome behind s rock illusion. Like directly south of Ophelia. As soon as they clear the corner, he let's them have it..

GM Harker |
Ok, just waiting for someone to agree to her terms in character, or at least for everyone to indicate they're backing out of the room. Mostly, I'm waiting for input from Moadis since he's well within the room. Since Valik and Ophelia hasn't posted lately, I'm going to assume they're going along with everyone else unless they say otherwise before Moadis.
Moadis |
You are not entering that ship with the hostage. So when we get to the gangplank you leave him behind unharmed or your dead.
After setting up the details of the hostage exchange Moadis let them pass. He will follow and flank the last one of them close by but out of his reach.
Melufiuos Benidictus |
Mel attempts to arrange himself such that, when our gnome casts, he is in position to cast as well, specifically wanting to hit the gal with the hostage.
I'm assuming that my latest shield has worn off and that I cannot fire off my wand without spooking the pirates.

Readied action: Upon seeing the group of baddies come out color spray on them. T'kk'tck never talked with them and is in the back so he shouldn't have been observed.
GM Harker |
Mel, I'd say only about 4 rounds have passed, you'd still have 6 rounds left on the Shield spell.
"Deal." Alejia says, agreeing to Moadis' terms, "First, move out of the way."
Once the group complies with her request/order, while perhaps stalling long enough for T'kk'tck to set up his illusion, Alejia and her minions start moving slowly towards the Topaz Titan. While walking, Alejia keeps Hirako Gurukaza firmly in her grip, her cutlass placed against his throat.
Ok, time for the double rainbow. Please let me know the DC's of your Color Spray spells.
