GM Harker |
@Vailis, I'll need a valid email address to send your chronicle sheet when we finish. Feel free to send it to me via PM.
Also, if you'd be interested in joining the group on a more permanent basis later, you may want to consider placing some GM credit on Vailis later to raise him to a level closer to the rest of the group. Whether or not there will be a slot open in the permanent group depends on if our missing person returns with a good reason when we finish this scenario or in 1 month, whichever is shorter.
Otherwise, thank you for joining us for the Sanos Abduction and feel free to check in on the Gameplay thread.
To keep things from being less confusing, I may have to start referring to 'the monk Valik' or 'the summoner Vailis' in gameplay instead of just your first names.
Vailis |
Very happy to join you!
There are events coming soon where I will GM, I will try to reach the level as soon as possible.
In addition I am also ok if you refer to me as the 'half-elf' the 'chelish', or we can look for a surname or alias :)
PM with email sent.

Some crap happened in my life. I expect to still post daily, but it may be that I am unable to do so. Regardless, I will not be as frequent as a poster until this crap is resolved. Do not hesitate to bot me when necessary.
Halkale Timarson |
I need to heal Frostfur, so here are wand charges
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
I added an Ioun Torch and Weapon blanch Ghost Salt. What you may notice on my sheet is that I've blanched 10 each arrows. I am doing that to keep track of my "special" arrows. Even though the blanch is still on my sheet, I wanted to make sure that you could tell what I've done. IF I run out of special arrows, I'll make more by buying more blanch.
Quiella |
Does Frostfur not heal naturally in downtime like the rest of us? Quiella would have gladly spent her daily resources to get him back up at the end of the scenario if necessary

GM Harker |
Quiella, here are the damage totals you received per round after reviewing the posts. Please let me know if there is a discrepancy.
Round 1
No damage
(Actually, should have taken 5 damage from Valik from the lifelink, but we both missed it.)
Round 2
16 damage from hodags
10 damage from lifelink
=26 damage
Heals 11 from Loh
=15 damage
Heals 10 from Channel
=5 damage
Round 3
18 damage from hodag
=23 damage
10 damage from lifelink
=33 damage
11 healing from LoH
=22 damage
Quiella |
I spaced the second lifelink in my math. Thanks. Looks like she will be burning a few CLW off. Taking the average roll with fey founding gets me to 21 HP healed with 3 charges. Is Mel below 5 now or will she be absorbing more from him also?
-Posted with Wayfinder
Melufiuos Benidictus |
Yes, heal Q and take average rolls. Just tell me how many charges I used since I cannot follow any of the math
-Posted with Wayfinder
Quiella |
I'll get it all figured out sometime this weekend.
Quiella |
Okay, 22 damage at the end of the combat. 15 more from Mel. 37 damage total. Quiella spent 3 charges and Mel spent 2 for a total of 5 charges at 7 hp each (thanks to Fey Foundling) for 35 hp healed overall. 2hp of damage left for Quiella and less than 5 left for Mel means everyone wakes up healed in the morning.
Kind of a bummer about the wand charges. Quiella could have got much more efficient use out of LoH but she would have saved them for another fight the same day and burnt the wand down to heal in the meanwhile.
That's 3 charges from Quiella and 2 more from Mel.

Melufiuos Benidictus |
I've been playing Mel as generally impulsive. Does his assumption that the girl is an undead seem out of character for him? More cynical?
-Posted with Wayfinder
Quiella |
It is a pretty cynical assumption. I'm not sure if it seems out of character to me.

I'm back, folks! Vacation was pretty great, and it's time for me to kick jetlag in the butt and start posting again. Bear with me!
Halkale Timarson |
Just putting this out for all my games: This next week culminates with a final presentation on Friday morning. This is a really big deal as employers could be at the presentation and that might allow me to get some interviews and perhaps a job. I may be a little slow in responding this week. This will improve some after Friday, but next weekend is the 4th of July here in the USA and I have the week of the 4th off from school so I am heading to my grandmother's for a few days to visit her. I don't know what days, it will only be a couple, but I'll still have internet access (DSL!!) Please bot me to keep the games rolling, I want to wish everyone in the States a happy and safe 4th if I don't get a chance.
Vailis |
Good luck!
I might also be a bit more lazy than usual for posting. Today is parliament elections in Spain and tomorrow we have England-Iceland and Spain-Italy at the Eurocup 2016!
GM Harker |
Okay, Halkale, this is my understanding on how Handle Animal checks work. It's a DC 10 move action to get your animal companion to perform a trick it knows. It's DC 25 move to get it to do something it's not been trained in. This is known as 'pushing' the animal. It continues performing the trick or push command you've ordered every round unless it cannot do it any longer or you command it do something else (or stop). So, if you command Frostfur to attack, she'll continue to attack until you tell her to stop.
Quiella |
Of note, for an *animal companion* it is a free action to do the former, and a move action to push; not so with mundane animals.
-Posted with Wayfinder
Quiella |
Also, your animal companion will not attack certain creatures without having attack trained a second time. You'd have to look at the rules to know exactly which ones, but I think Twigjack is outside the criteria for the basic attack trick
-Posted with Wayfinder
Ophelia Endronil |
Halkale also has +6 to Handle Animal, and an additional +4 for his own animal companion - since the DC to get an animal to do a trick it already knows is 10, and you don't auto-fail fail skill checks on a natural 1, he automatically succeeds on any trick to make Frostfur do a trick she knows.
It also looks like Frostfur already knows the 'attack any target' trick, so she should be able to attack the twigjacks. (A companion without the 'attack any target' trick will only attack humanoids [including giants], monstrous humanoids, and animals.)
My local PFS chapter is *very* big on pet classes.
Halkale Timarson |
It was what I thought, but wondered if I had missed something. To be honest, I have tried not to do too much with her as she's quite fragile mostly, plus with as many melee folks as we have, she can get in the way. I believe she has all the Tricks known that I've asked of her, I suspect I could make more use of her and probably even bring combat to a close quicker, but I've been a bit scared. Losing a companion is a big deal to a ranger.
Vailis |
Ains, I knew it would be not easy to up a post during the weekend.
Sorry, sorry Harker, yes the action posted previously is fine with me, the wolf did nothing so nothing changes!
Ophelia Endronil |
So here's the situation.
I haven't been in a good place lately (again). My desktop computer has died due to a hard drive issue, and my one-year-old tablet has decided to stop working as well. This restricts me to posting on my phone, which is amazingly difficult due to a cracked screen and prohibitively slow loading times. I'm up against a deadline for job searching, I can barely afford to pay my bills, and the constant stress is leaving me pretty drained.
Right now, I'm at a friend's house posting this. I'll be around, and trying to post occasionally from my phone, but until Microsoft get me my replacement device, I'll be spotty at best.
Quiella |
That sucks. Trying to do anything on a cracked phone screen is nearly impossible.
I'm sorry to hear about your job situation; that sounds awful. I have twice now been unemployed for over a month with a wife and two kids. I've never burnt through *all* of my savings (came really close last month though), but I've experienced the stress and wear of unemployment. I know how hard it sucks. :-(

GM Harker |
We're at the last encounter. The next Gameday starts August 27th. I'd like to know whether each of you would rather wait around three weeks to start the next scenario as part of the Gameday, or get started earlier.
If the next campaign scenario is not part of the Gameday, then I'll still be running a separate Gameday scenario, probably a 1-5 from a later season. You will all have a spot in that game if you want it.
In any event, I'd like to get everyone's opinion, even if you don't have a preference.
Quiella |
I'm fine either way. I think the game day will be long enough that it our first scenario isn't in it then the next one will be.
Btw do we level up now or after one more module?
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Harker |
Yeah, everyone but Mel and Vailis will be level 6.
FYI, please avoid playing #5-14 Day of the Demon as part of Gameday V if it comes up, since I plan on incorporating it into the campaign. It was originally a Season 4 exclusive, so it still fits into the theme.
What follows is my tentative schedule of scenarios. I haven't added the scenario numbers, but from 6 to 10 are Season 4 with the exception of Day of the Demon. The first Level 11 scenario is the capstone of the season, The Waking Rune. The last two scenarios listed after that are very tentative, as they deal with some NPC's and general themes of Season 4. If you guys have played them by then, I'll just run something else to get you to level 12.
Level 6
Way of the Kirin
#5-14 Day of the Demon
The Golemworks Incident
Level 7
Rivalry's End
The Green Market
The Fabric of Reality
Level 8
Tower of the Ironwood Watch
King of Storval Stairs
The Cultist's Kiss
Level 9
Feast of Sigils
Glories of the Past Part 1
Glories of the Past Part 2
Level 10
Glories of the Past Part 3
The Refuge of Time
Words of the Ancients
Level 11
The Waking Rune
#5-25 Vengenence at Sundered Crag
#7–04: The Ironbound Schism
Quiella |
Looks great to me. FYI Quiella will be taking a 4th (and probably final) level of Paladin before taking a bunch more Oracle levels. I want her to be able to offer Life Link to more of the party, but Paladin 4 is just too good to resist.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Harker |
Okay, please roll your Day Jobs. We'll be finished once the poison is dealt with.
Also, right now I have 1 vote to wait from Vailis (he sent a PM) and two votes without a preference. So, most likely we'll wait until the 27th for the next scenario unless there's any major objections from the other three players.
Quiella |
profession, farmer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Can you explain the caster level check? Shouldn't that also add the minimum ability score to cast the spell?
-Posted with Wayfinder
Vailis |
Thanks Harker!
I have played already #5-14 Day of the Demon and The Green Market :/
I doubt I will play any other season 4 scenario in the incoming months and will watch out to not do so.
Because of that, if others prefer to go on, perhaps you can swap Way of the Kirin and Day of the Demon and I can join you back, if you still wish, after Way of the Kirin :)
I am assigning GM chronicles to Vailis. I plan to catch you up in level soon!
GM Harker |
Quiella, as per Neutralize Poison, it only uses the caster level added to a D20.
Vailis, I've basically decided to wait until the 27th for Way of the Kirin if there's no objections. We can work out filling in for you with Day of the Demon and the Green Market when we reach those points. In the past I've run a concurrent separate scenario to make up for the ones that individual players have already played, but if you have GM credits to overcome that experience deficit, that would make things easier on me.
Valik Frost |
So, I have looked over the upcoming games you have planned. I have played the following:
Golemworks Incident (level 6)
Cultist's Kiss (level 8)
Refuge of Time (level 10
I am not too worried, as they are a few games from now, but I just wanted to let you know :)
I may try to run a game so I can GM credit it, depends what my time is like. I may try to use the upcoming GD to get those games in as well.
Halkale Timarson |
I am fine with whatever the group thinks. I should have no issues with scenarios and I have a few other characters to help in scenarios we might need for the group.
Day Job, Trapper: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
GM Harker |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
@Valik, if you could cover the previously played scenarios with GM credit, that would make things easier for me. Although I would be remiss if I didn't once again ask everyone to please avoid playing Season 4 scenarios.
@Everyone, the session has been reported and Chronicle sheets have been sent out to everyone except Ophelia who has a Day Job roll pending.
With the input I've received, I think its safe to plan to make the next scenario #4–21: Way of the Kirin part of Gameday V, and so will begin on August 27th. In the next few days, I'll submit it to the organizers and start a new thread for to make it a clear that it will be a Gameday session. I'll alert you all so you can dot it.
Quiella |
All leveled up.
Took another rank in Diplomacy and Use Magic Device
Gained another use, die, and favored class bonus for Lay on Hands
Gained an additional smite use
BAB and some saves increased
Also, gold had stacked up, so purchased
A +1 enhancement for the cold iron Greatsword (4k gp)
A +1 amulet of natural armor (2k gp)
A masterwork enhancement for the Lucerne Hammer (presuming Ophelia's willingness again: 300gp)
Really itching to get a +2 headband of charisma, but I feel like it can wait a little longer.
Other things I want to buy in the future
+2 ring of protection (probably do this around the time I can swap out an Oracle spell)
+2 enhancement for plate mail
Additional items for getting more utility out of high UMD score
Ring of regeneration

Valik Frost |
leveled up, got some gold saved up so I will look into useful stuff.
Added 3 ranks linguistics and added Thassilonian, Ancient Osirion, and Varisian to my languages known. Got another BAB, and +1 saves. Got a few monk abilities, otherwise, nothing major. Looked at PrC, and nothing came up as "ooohhh, awwweee", so most likely going to stick wit full monk goodness.
Gonna look at some level 6 games I can run for GD:V. Will keep you posted.
Quiella |
I will be at GenCon this week, and it is already taking a lot of my time. I imagine I will still be able to get posts in but I don't know when they will be or how long/thorough they will be. Please bot me as necessary.

My replacement device has arrived, and I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. Hopefully I can start posting in my games tonight or tomorrow!
Day job - Profession (midwife): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
I'll go dot the new thread now.
