GM Giuseppe |
Hey everyone,
I wish you a happy new year! We'll be resuming our usual gaming schedule starting on Tuesday, January the 3rd, 2017! In the meanwhile, enjoy the holidays and some very well deserved rest!

Sorry...hadn't realized that was a faction mission. I thought it was an actual investigatory clue.
No worries, truth of the matter is we'll all catch onto each other's faction doings eventually. I actually had the same thought too, that it might be both mission and faction useful. That's the only reason why I tore out some pages and saved some others, just so I wouldn't brick the scenario on accident. :)
Nebraska Jones |
I believe by Jak's turn Dolgarth is standing where Jak fell, Aldus is on the steps behind Dolgarth, and the two ladies are on the deck above.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Yeap, that was what I was thinking too.
Not sure what are the rules for when someone is healed in such a tight spot, but I thought that upon waking up Jak would sort of squeeze past Aldus and Dolgarth. If healing Jak would get him in a position where he would be easily ganged up by the two half-orcs it might be a terrible tactical decision to cast CLW (and thus, if the DM allows and if you guys think it's best I'd change my action to first dragging Jak out of the fray and then healing him).
GM Giuseppe |
A few notes on maps, tactical positioning and spells areas.
The maps are there so that you can use them to actually move your characters. If you don't want to confuse your allies, use the appropriate tools in order to draw lines and arrow to indicate your movement. Please take care to move your character where you want him/her to be at the end of his turn.
Similarly, you should draw the areas of effect for your spells. You can use the tools available to easily accomplish that.
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Oh, that's good to know. I didn't realize we had write access to the maps.
Aldus the Supplicant |
@Fiametta: I think we need to request permission, as Giuseppe doesn't know our e-mails.
Is it possible to feint and fight defensively? If so, does the -4 apply to the bluff skill check?
GM Giuseppe |
Anyway, the site has been down for the whole day and now that it seems to be back, it's night over here. I'll post tomorrow morning.
GM Giuseppe |
@Jakwin: I believe the half-orcs get an AoO against you, but I judged they were focused on something else at the time with you lying unconscious (as far as they know) on the ground.
GM Giuseppe |
@Others: I think three of you have been given permission to edit the map. As for the two remaining, please send me a PM with your e-mail so that I can grant you edit permission.
Nebraska Jones |
I can't help but laugh at how this encounter is sliding towards failure. The All Knowing RNG wishes us to know our place :) When Nebraska wakes up, in this life or the next, she'll absolutely change her strategy to cartwheels rather than combat rolls. Think that's where she went wrong, everyone expects the combat roll.
Aldus the Supplicant |
The whole thing is pure slapstick. Guess it's time to sacrifice another goat or two to the all-knowing RNG.
Jakwin Howell |
True-nuff. Though, on the plus side, I think I've earned Jak's avatar, now. :D
(Also, the goal is to take one of these clowns down in time to step over and heal Aldus back to positives, if possible. Here's to hoping we can actually accomplish that. :/ )

In her unconscious fever dreams Nebraska recalls the moment she was preparing for this mission and chose not to purchase the scroll of CLW. The agony, the foolishness.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Yeah, that was my plan. Take out green guy so we could get Nebraska back up without her being hit as soon as she tried standing. In any case, we're both haemorrhaging in agreement with your plan.
Aldus the Supplicant |
@Jak: piggyback ride!
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Yeah, that was...something. I kept wanting to close, but didn't figure I could make it down the stairs without getting killed.
For what it's worth, this adventure has a reputation for being deadly for brand new characters. So...yay us for still being alive.
And I know what *my* first 2PPs are going for.
GM Giuseppe |
Fiametta the Kantarian |
FYI, my header is up to date. I'm down 1 hp from our first fight.
I forgot to ask, do you want prepped spells in the header -- that seemed like a lot of text so I just listed the count, with the details in the body of my sheet.

For now I don't think it is necessary, Fiammetta.
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Let's start with a Profession Barrister roll to see how deep I get into this...
Prof:Barrister: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
And a spellcraft on the compass (I can identify the potions by taking 10)
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

4 convenient clw potions…why do I get this uneasy feeling?
Also, can someone shove one down Aldus' Galtan throat?

Who's game to try to convince these freed slaves to bullrush this person in a 'Seize your freedom! Seize your destiny!' moment?
Aldus the Supplicant |
I'm laughing so hard at that! Besides the possible ethical issue (using freed slaves as cannon fodder) I think it could be worth a try. Aldus would certainly love the idea of men and women claiming freedom with their own hands.
Alternatively, if it's only one person Aldus and Jak could try to use bardic performance to fascinate her.
GM Giuseppe |
Hey guys, just a quick heads up on the whole "run-for-your-freedom" thing. I'm OK with the general idea, but please try to stay coherent with the campaign setting. I know that it can be fun, and a game should be that way of course, but please just don't get it to the point where it becomes a farce. I don't know if things like healthcare are actually part of Golarion's world, just like spas.
Dolgarth |
I really doubt healthcare is a thing, except maybe in Druma. Every place has some dreamers, I suppose.
GM Giuseppe |
I'll wait for Jakwin and Fiammetta before moving things on, provided they post within tomorrow morning (GMT +1).
Nebraska Jones |
My apologies, I in no way meant to cause setting disillusion. My interpretation of the settling was that since CLW wands and clean food, clean drink, cure disease spells existed that an employer would be able to provide benefits to their personal as living strong workers are more lucrative than sick and dying. Alas, yes though the term and idea of Healthcare probably isn't real. I'll be better.
GM Giuseppe |
Don't worry about it, Nebraska. That was simply a friendly advice, nothing more ;)
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Sorry, it's been nothing but putting out fires for the last two days. I'll have a post by this afternoon.
ETA If we're not in initiative yet, assume I have no objections to the plan (or am too surprised to have anything to say)
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Very sorry. Work should be sane now.
I'm less sure about everyone in my household, but I think that's taken care of, too.
Nebraska Jones |
GM, Now seeing what people are doing before me would you allow Nebraska's move destination to change to be 10ft behind Jak?
GM Giuseppe |
GM, Now seeing what people are doing before me would you allow Nebraska's move destination to change to be 10ft behind Jak?
No problem!
GM Giuseppe |
Oh, it seems like I did something while editing the map and moved Luscilia in the wrong position. She should be in the correct one now (as such, no AoO). Thanks for pointing out Nebraska.
Also, I noticed that you kept a journal on the campaign. It was interesting to read, good work!
Nebraska Jones |
Thanks! I've decided with this character to keep an actual journal for flavor and add to it whenever she writes in hers in game. Hopefully it'll end up cool and have some good memories!
Also, I'm sandwiched in a weird spot initiative wise, as how Fiametta's spell goes will affect my action greatly. Would you prefer I spoiler my two options or that I just wait?
GM Giuseppe |
You can do as you wish, although I'd prefer you to spoiler your actions because otherwise, if Fiammetta doesn't post or posts just before the deadline, you would risk to miss a post.
Fiametta the Kantarian |
I'm totally fine with you taking 10 for me on Knowledge checks and identify checks, btw.
GM Giuseppe |
"As for the legality of confiscation. The Pathfinder Society has cleverly arranged itself to allow us to do that with plausible deniability. We bring all the gear we find to the local lodge, along with our report. In countries where the Society operates, they have reached accommodation with local law enforcement, such that this is acceptable. The Society pays us the value of those goods and then -- to the best of our knowledge -- turn everything over to the authorities when they are done with it. Sometimes the authorities give it back to the original owners, sometimes to the Society, sometimes they keep it. But we don't have to worry about that part, as long as we give everything we find to the Venture Captain."
She couldn't be clearer than that. This is an excellent explanation, and also a way to justify way in our campaign you won't be able to keep the loot you acquire, and you'll have instead to buy what you need from the local lodge. Good work!
Aldus the Supplicant |
I assume that consumables used during the scenario (e.g. the potions we're chugging like crack addicts) are exempted from that?
GM Giuseppe |
I assume that consumables used during the scenario (e.g. the potions we're chugging like crack addicts) are exempted from that?
Of course, but if you don't use them within the end of the scenario, you're supposed to return them to the Society.
