Enter the Stolen Lands, a wilderness claimed by nobles, bandits, and beasts alike. Into this territory the fractious country of Brevoy sends its emissaries, tasking them with subduing the lawless folk and deadly creatures that have made it a realm of savagery and shame. Beyond the last rugged frontier stretches the home of voracious monsters, capricious fey, wily natives, and bandits who bow to the rule of a merciless lord none dare defy. Can the PCs survive the Stolen Lands, bring their dangers to heel, and lay the foundations of a new kingdom? Or will they just be one more fateful band, lost forever to the ravenous wilds?
---
Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and west and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope.
— So witnessed on this 24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne.

Hello everyone, and welcome to yet another recruitment thread by GM Giuseppe. This is a recruitment for the Kingmaker Adventure Path. I plan on running the AP from the beginning to the end; presumably, this will take us about 2 years to complete. Unlike Wolfspirit’s Kingmaker: Legacies recruitment thread, I plan on running the AP as written, without adding further modules and adventures aside from those featured in the Adventure Path itself (which are plenty already).

I’d like to make clear that I’m searching for 2-3 players only. In fact I have already invited two players to join the game, and I plan on creating a group of about 4-5 characters. The players you’re going to play with if you’re selected are Euan and Fabian Benavante: two great PbP GMs and players I’ve chosen because I like their posting style and frequency.

Before anything else, there’s one thing I’d like to make clear: I need all the applicants to be able to commit to at least 2-3 post per day. While this posting rate is quite fast compared to other PbP games run here on these boards, I firmly believe in what Painlord named the “Prime PbP GM Commandment” in his amazing Guide to PbP GMing: “Don't set out to start a PbP. *SET OUT TO CLOSE A PBP*”, which can also be expressed as: “Finish what you start”. Oh, and just so you know, that Euan guy you’re going to play with has successfully completed an entire AP on these boards (Curse of the Crimson Throne) as a GM. Well, my primary aim is to close the entire Kingmaker AP too, and in order to achieve this goal I’m convinced that a fast-paced game can prove very helpful. The faster we go, the sooner we end; the more frequently we post, less are the chances of real life getting in our way. And, above all, posting frequently helps us to keep momentum, something that I found to be very important for every PbP. It’s a matter of tastes: I think that when you post frequently you are more involved, you can feel the adventure on your own skin, and it’s easier to stay in-character; to the contrary, few posts in my experience mean less involvement and the loss of momentum. So, please, if you already know or if you fear you won’t be able to post 2-3 times/day just do not apply for this recruitment. It’s a big commitment, I know, but it can be extremely rewarding. So, again, apply only if you feel comfortable with this pace and your current lifestyle allows you to afford such a commitment. Of course, there will come a day in which you won’t be able to post at all, and in that case I’m going to ask you not to worry and let us know of your absence so I can bot your character accordingly.

I plan to run this game in my format of choice, Pathfinder Vintage (click on the link to find out more about this format). In short, Pathfinder Vintage is a format in which legal sources are limited to the materials which were released when the adventure was published*. You can check this link or my profile for a complete list of legal sources for this campaign.

* This campaign will be using the standard variant (so no 3.5 materials allowed).

Something about me: My name is Giuseppe Capriati, and I’m a Pathfinder translator for my country, Italy. I’ve played Pathfinder for almost 4 years now, and in my Face-to-Face games I’ve been able to successfully complete four Adventure Paths as a GM (Council of Thieves, Serpen’t Skull (x2) and Carrion Crown). I’m currently GMing a Skulls and Shackles Adventure Path in person and a Price of Immortality Campaign Arc here on Paizo boards.

===================
CHARACTER CREATION
===================

Before you start creating your character, please take note of the following suggestions.

First of all, you may want to start by reading instead of writing. As a GM, I value player’s knowledge and tend to prize those players who are able to come up with interesting character ideas which are strongly tied to the campaign setting and to the adventure I’m going to run. This means that if you manage to acquire a good knowledge of this adventure’s setting, your PCs is likely to reflect that, implying a higher chance of being recruited for you. Take your time, read and think about what you’ve read before getting to work on character creation. To better explain what I mean here, I can give you an example: if I had to choose between two equally good and well developed characters, one of them submitting a generic two-handed fighter and the other applying with an aldori-style fighter, I would pick the latter. Why? Because I would feel that the latter is much more suited for the AP. So, to ensure that you can apply with a character who fits the adventure, I’m going to suggest you some compulsory and optional readings below.

Reading Suggestions:

Compulsory Readings — First off, read the Kingmaker Player’s Guide: it contains a lot of useful information about the campaign setting and the AP in general, and will aid you in your character creation, helping you to make choices fitting the Kingmaker Adventure Path. This is the only compulsory reading I’m recommending: please make sure you read the Kingmaker Player’s Guide even if you consider that you have a perfect knowledge of the AP or you have had the chance to read the guide before. Sometimes, dusting off your stock of knowledge can prove surprisingly helpful.

Optional Readings — If you want to make some additional readings to further root your character into the Kingmaker AP, please check the legal sources document below. Keep in mind that you’re still allowed to use other sources to gain additional knowledge of the campaign setting, even if you cannot use those sources for player’s options. First off, I would recommend an in-depth reading of Brevoy and River Kingdoms entries in The Inner Sea World Guide. Then, if you plan on tying your character to one of the River Kingdoms, you can take a look at Pathfinder Chronicles. Guide to the River Kingdoms. If you instead plan on creating a character coming from somewhere else, you could find it helpful to read Pathfinder Chronicles. Cities of Golarion and tie your character to one of the six cities presented therein. If you’re looking for some additional equipment to differentiate your character from the standard adventurer, consider to flip through Pathfinder Companion. Adventurer’s Armory. If you’re looking for an important NPC to add to your character’s background, you can take a look at Pathfinder Chronicles. NPC Guide and choose among a number of NPCs, each one related to a specific country in the Inner Sea region campaign setting. There are a number of sources you could look at to improve your character, but what particular source you need depends on who your character is and where he comes from. You may want to consider creating a character who can use the legal sources for this campaign (ie., a dwarf since Dwarves of Golarion is legal, or a Cheliaxian because Cheliax, Empire of Devils is legal, and so on), just so you can add some flavor elements to him and maybe even try to make his build reflect his race, nation, and so on.

---

Read the guides – If you haven’t done it yet, please read the excellent guide written by Doomed Hero about PbP gaming: DH's Guide to Play by Post gaming. If you’ve already read this guide, there’s another excellent guide expanding DH’s guide you might want to read: Painlord's Advanced Play by Post Play. Even if you feel like you already know a lot about PbP, these guides are going to help you out for sure if you haven't read them yet, no matter how much good you are at PbP. There's always something to be learned, and these guides are the perfect mentors for any PbP player.

---

Alright, now that we I’ve brought these aspects to your attention, we can delve into character creation specifics.

  • Starting level – 1st

  • Starting wealth – Average starting wealth for your class.

  • Ability scores – 20 point buy.

  • Ability scores restriction – No ability score below 8.

  • Hit point generation system – Maximized hp at 1st level, then half your HD +1 (e.g., 1d6=3+1; 1d8=4+1; 1d10=5+1; 1d12=6+1).

  • Alignment restrictions – Non-evil characters only. Good alignment recommended but not necessary.

  • Traits – Two traits, one of which must be selected among those featured in the Kingmaker Player’s Guide. No Drawbacks.

  • Legal sources – Check this list (for additional information, see Pathfinder Vintage Standard).

  • Race restrictions – Core races recommended. Races from the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary may be allowed, but make sure to have my permission by sending me a PM with your idea and waiting for my approval before expanding on that concept.

I need your submission to include the following:

  • Complete character sheet

  • Background

  • Personality

  • Appearance

  • Leadership Roles

  • A quick introduction of yourself as a PbP player

Please do create an alias for your submission. After you have created your alias, please make sure to include his vital statistics under your forum name. If you don’t know how to do it, check my profile.

===================
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
===================

Additional Information:

  • Submission Template – Please use this template when introducing your character: this helps me and other players to discern your submission from your roleplaying post.

  • Read my profile page – In my profile page a number of important things involving my games are detailed, such as what I expect from my players, how to roll dice in my games, how to add vital stats to your characters, how to format your posts, and so on.

  • My posting schedule – I live in Italy, and as such all my following posting times will be intended as GMT+1. I usually post once in the morning, about 10:00 A.M., then again in the afternoon, about 7:00-8:00 P.M.. Then I post one last time at 11:00-12:00 P.M.. If needed, I could post more depending on my current schedule.

  • RAW vs RAI – I tend to follow RAW as much as I can, unless rules interfere with the story; if it does, I’m likely to change that rule once and for all.

  • XP and Level Progression – You will level up when I feel like you’re ready to, based on the results you accomplished and where you currently are in the adventure. By the way, I will keep a constantly updated XP counter to have a reference, avoiding me to let you level up too soon or too late.

  • Like other applications – Please like your fellow applicants’ submissions by hitting the add to favorites button near the character you like. Of course, this in non-binding at all for me: it’s not a voting system in which the most voted characters get recruited automatically, but it tells me who you would like to play with, which is one of the main criteria for my choice.

  • Roleplay! – If you think you can benefit from doing a bit of roleplay (especially if you’re a new PbP player and you want to show me your skills) or you just want to practice a bit in the meantime, feel free to use this thread to roleplay with other applicants. This is not compulsory: roleplay only if you want to. I could easily recruit a player who hasn’t roleplayed here in the recruitment thread if I think his submission is good enough and I like that player’s posting style and rate. You may want to use this thread to roleplay if your posting history does not account for your posting rate: sometimes games just don’t allow players to post all that frequently, but still I need to see if you’re able to manage 2-3 posts/day before recruiting you. In this case, you can use this thread to show me that you can meet such a pace (you can roleplay starting on December 17th; before that date I need this thread to stay as clean as possible).

  • First timers – I’ve recently opened a recruitment for a Price of Immortality campaign arc, giving first timers a chance to put their skills to test. For this game I’m instead looking for experienced and trustable PbPers, so even if I won’t exclude the chance to recruit a first timer for this game, you will have to impress me with your roleplay in this thread to convince me to recruit you and take the risk that recruiting a first timer implies.

  • Party assortment – I’ll try to recruit the best players, not the characters with the best builds. That said, I will still try to build a solid and mechanically-wise efficient group. You may want to know that Euan is going to play a Marshal Outdoorsy Archer and Fabian a Councilor Citified Divine, so those leadership roles and specializations are already covered for this game.

  • How many recruits? – I’ll be recruiting a party composed of 4 members, but could end up recruiting one more player. We have 2 players already, so I need 2-3 players only.

  • Mapping tools – We’ll be using Roll20 for combat encounters. I’m pretty good at it, or so my players have told me. As a consequence, I expect you to have a Roll20 account or to create one after you’ve been recruited. If you don’t know how to do it, I will be there to help you to create your own account and teach you how Roll20 works.

  • Campaign Gallery – I’ll be using Pinterest to show you some pictures which can help you to immerse in the campaign. You’re expected to be able to access the gallery. If you don’t know how to do it, I will be there to help you out.

  • Handouts and reference documents – I’ll be using Googledocs to provide you with additional reference documents. You’re expected to be able to access these documents. If you don’t know how to do it, I will be there to help you out.

===================
SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE
===================

This recruitment is open and will remain opened for 8 days. I will close recruitment on December the 20th. I will give you 5 days to submit your character. After that, I will stop accepting applications and will give you 3 days to roleplay in this thread (during this period you can still adjust your character’s sheet, but I need your submission to be complete in all of the entries I’ve specified above before December the 17th. Please make sure your submission is complete by that date).

I will try to keep an updated list of applicants, providing you with a link to it in the Campaign Info Tab so you can access the list and check to make sure your submission was included.

I’m planning on starting the adventure as soon as possible, which can also mean to start it in the new year if starting it now would cause us to lose momentum because of the Christmas holiday. I will check the selected players’ availability before deciding when to begin the game.

I plan to close Kingmaker in a 2 to 3 years period, depending on how fast we go.

Yarrr.

So, about 4 years now I was GMing a tabletop Kingmaker game.

Coincidentally Euan was one of my players. We only got to book 3 before I had to move to Iowa. I haven't read past book 3, but I'm certain I'll remember some details from the first 3 books as we go along.

Is this at all an issue?

As long as you're able to separate what you from what your character knows I do not see it as an issue at all. Sometimes that proves harder than expected in my personal experience, but I know many good players who are very good at it. So fundamentally my answers is: no, that's not an issue ;)

I'm quite interested in joining. Convienient that this pops up right after the previous recruitment ended though I imagine that's no coincidence. Do I understand it correctly that you don't allow material that was published after the adventure? Is that after the last module came out or after the first one? What date is this for Kingmaker? This makes it hard for me to figure out what is legal as I usually rely on online sources to filter through material. Hopefully I'll manage. I wonder how much of my previous submissions is legal. I'm thinking an Oracle with the Heaven's mystery and either Seeker or Spirit Guide archtypes, though I don't know how much of that is legal...

So sorry for not completely reading through everything yet. I'll do that before coming with further questions. Sad to see that the traits from ultimate campaign are not legal :( I really wanted Magical Lineage. Seems like seeker is too late as well. I might go for something else then... Maybe a summoner, how do you feel about those? I know some GMs hate them

oyzar wrote:

I do not hate any of the legal classes, so if you want to go with a Summoner, feel free to do that. Just pay attention to your eidolon form, and try not to make it a weird pokémon as sometimes summoners tend to do.

Sadly the wild caller archtype is not legal or I would have gone with that, but I still think I'll be able to figure something out that isn't too weird.

I have a few idea's i'm throwing around but would need to know If either Undines or Aasimar would be allowed

Ammon Knight of Ragathiel wrote:

I would allow Aasimars, depending on how strong is that character's backstory.

I must say I love the idea of a game with 2-3 posts per day though for all the reasons you mentioned. 1 post per day feels too slow and often people end up slipping and you don't even manage that. That you also are in Europe (I'm in Norway) makes this a whole lot easier for me. It doesn't help to post frequent if everyone else are sleeping and unable to respond.

Would you allow bastard for a half-elf?

Dark Archive

I am thinking about making a conjuration wizard. At some point he will start trying to use planar bindings to help the kingdom. I enjoy the idea of a wizard of Abadar who is happy to make deals with beings to help the growth of the city. Ultimate magic does a great job in simplifying the rules on it as well. Could I use that section of the book but refrain from picking up any spells or feats from the book?

I really would like to join this game. Either a cavalier or Paladin.

oyzar wrote:

Assuming you're referring to the bastard campaign trait featured in the Kingmaker Player's Guide, I would have nothing against it.

loc wrote:

I might use some of the rules introduced in Ultimate Magic on planar binding if I think they could come in handy, but I can't assure you about that for now.

That's what I meant yes, sorry for being unclear. It's usually restricted to human characters.

Player's Introduction - you may already know mw as Goldilocks the halfling druid. been on these boards since 2008. actually never got asked specifically to join a game, always had to go through normal recruitment. so kudos to those that earned the auto invite.

the story of Chief White Eagle:

Backstory:

Arcadia, the mysterious continent, lies across the Arcadian sea. A place of mystery and wonder; Centuries ago Ulfen settlers called Arcadia their new home, until the natives took offence to their presence and nearly drove them from their home.

The native tribes called skraelings by the Ulfen settlers were considered savage and ruthless. But this I can tell you is not entirely true.

I am White Eagle, son of Ten Bears, and I am a skraeling. Though I was not born on the land my ancestors once called home My Father and I have held to the teachings passed down to us by my father’s father and his father before him. I am of the Defohy tribe, Nomads always moving with the changing seasons making our home in the plains of Arcadia in places where our horses may graze and the fish are abundant.

The Defohy depended on the land for their survival. The earth and rivers provided roots and berries, fish and game. Farming and land ownership were foreign to the Defohy. They believed (and still do today) the earth was not to be disturbed by hoe and plow. The land was their home, not a commodity to be bought or sold.

Chief Yellow Wolf, a relative of Chief Ten Bears said, “We were always here. The Great Spirit placed us on this land of ours.”
Many miles south of the Ulfen settlement others from your world also journeyed to Arcadia. Settlers, seeking trees, animals and metals came to our home. These settlers moved into land we have journeyed to for countless generations. We sought to make peace with the newcomers and many of them welcomed us. We showed the settlers how to farm the soil in Arcadia and where to hunt good food. The Ulfen were friends. My people called all who came to our land as Ulfen as we had no concept of the different races of other lands. To us what you call elf was called spirit beings that were as mysterious to us as our home is to you.

Not all settlers who came to our home were friend. Bad Ulfen, I have learned were called Cheliax in your tongue, came to take gold from the hills and mountains of Arcadia. They enslaved many skraeling to dig the gold from the earth.

My ancestors became scattered and many were sent on ships to Cheliax home. Among them was my grandfather Chief Charlo, whose wife was with child. My father was the first of the skraelings to be born on this new world.

My father was strong and it is said that he had the strength of a bear and would do the work of ten men and so was given the name Ten Bears. Ten Bears was a slave like all the skraelings brought over to Cheliax.
However the Great Spirit saw what was happening to the people of Arcadia and took pity on them. Many skraelings were freed when guardians of freedom who bore the sign of the eagle freed our people.

Ten Bears lead a small group of Defohy north until we found land to call home in what is called Restov Plains. There. Our people prospered living peacefully on the plains and many new Defohy were born.
Ten Bears took a wife and bore a son, White Eagle.

For many years my people lived freely on the Rostov plains, trading goods with the settlements in this new land. My brother, Swift Elk, would lead hunting parties and trade furs with other Ulfen hunters and trappers.

Soon though Cheliax warriors would try and destroy the peace my people have created. (Note Cheliax is the name given to all human bandits, brigands, or other unsavory types, including warlords). Many disguised as Defohy attacked and scalped local Brevoy villagers.

Trust of the local villages and settlements was beginning to deteriorate. Ten Bears journeyed to the Ulfen city of Restov to plead the case of our people.

The Mayor agreed to a treaty with Ten Bears. The Defohy people would provide one of their own and explore the place called the Stolen Lands and there the Defohy could go and make a new home. And in return the people of Restov would assist and help protect the Defohy people.
During this time White Eagle had recently returned from his journey of the Wyakin to receive his guardian spirit. White Eagle had a vision while alone that he would be a great leader of his people guiding them to new lands and better hunting grounds. White Eagle was to go to fulfill Ten Bears promise to the Chief of Restov.

The Defohy have a strong belief in dreams and visions. Young boys and girls went alone to remote places hoping to receive knowledge of a personal guardian spirit. This personal WYAKIN would warn them of danger and give them special powers. In all phases of daily life, the Defohy thought of the spirits of forces and objects around them as supernatural WYAKIN

Player Introduction - Hey everyone, currently playing in two games and DMing two games on the boards. Met the DM at another game of his (had to apply normally) and am lucky enough to have been asked to join this time. Looking forward to some excellent roleplaying!

With an inquisitor and a ranger in the party we are kinda light on healing. What repercussions would using Infernal Healing have, if any? Would it turn a character evil over time? I know in some games the evil tag has no effect outside of making the character detect as evil for duration (PFS), while others will cause it to shift your alignment towards evil, maybe even cause agents of good to come hunt you down. I'm curious, what causes Jacobus to move so fast?

I'm not sure we have access to Infernal Healing. It's in the Inner Sea World guide which isn't on the list of approved sources for the campaign, unless I missed it.

That said, we might not have in-combat healing but a wand of Cure Light Wounds can do the trick for out of combat. We'll just have to spend the cash. :) A healer can be very nice, but I don't think it's necessary (famous last words...).

Oups, forgot to check the source on Infernal Healing :(. But yeah it might be fine, but it would also have been nice to have at least one more person capable of healing at level one. Of course there is at least one more player even if my character does get picked.

Player's Introduction - I joined these forums during this past summer and have been a very active poster since. I'm a member of a number of games that move at varying speeds. I regularly check the forums and have started dipping into the DM waters with a mixture of PFS scenarios and running a pbp for some local friends. 2-3 posts a day could be easily accomplished.

GM Giuseppe, do we know the characters/classes that Euan and Fabian Benavante are going to be playing?

GM Giuseppe wrote:
Euan is going to play a Marshal Outdoorsy Archer and Fabian a Councilor Citified Divine, so those leadership roles and specializations are already covered for this game.

Also, they posted from their aliases in the thread.

Hi Guiseppe,

Would you be receptive of taking 2 players as a package deal if the characters are good enough? A friend of mine and I have twin sisters, a bard and a fighter, that we would like to play together.

We started them off in another PbP that didn't last all that long. Both characters should work very well for Kingmaker with almost no alteration. The bard is a Milani worshipping folksinger type. The fighter is the more restrained, steady, and bookish of the two. My friend and I play them off each other very well, and we have them well established as personalities.

Thank you Pirate Rob, I should have been paying better attention, A range character and a melee character already. I will need to think about this a little, good luck everyone!

I have been playing D&D since 1992 and pathfinder since Council of Thieves. I have no problem posting 3 times a day, usually morning, lunch time and after diner.

Taking a huge gulp, Jack looks around:"Master Kroop, and I will not care what others call you, I will call you Master Kroop. For those others, they may think that all you need for a meal is to throw all ingridience into a pot, stir around and voila all is done! Hah, oh those ignorants. You need dedication, love for the art. Master Kroop, may I at least clean the galley a bit while we share the rum?" Jack will look around and whistle silently at the pitty few fresh vegetables.

Very good submissions so far guys!

I will be posting a roleplay setting tomorrow to enable you to begin roleplaying.

As for infernal healing I would rule that casting the spell is an evil act, and as such, may affect a good character's alignment in the long run: it's not something he would like to do, but if he needs to use that spell to save his companions, well, I think he would. Of course, he would feel dirty for that, and avoid using the spell further if not stricly necessary. A neutral character could use that spell without problems.

By the way, infernal healing was first introduced in Council of Thieves, in the Asmodeus' overview, so it's legal for our campaign :D

I would not be against it, so you can give it a try! ;)

I better hurry up getting my character done then so he can join in on RP. You have given me a big dilemma though, I'm really unsure whether to make my character TN or NG. On one hand you recommend good alignment, but on the other hand having access to infernal healing (except in the most dire circumstances) would also be nice for the party... It's not like it's all that easy to change after making the character either since it'll change his personality and outlook on life somewhat.

Player's Introduction - More interested in history than combat. I do prefer games with more of a history feeling than just: We go, we kill, we get rich.

Post samples - Well, same ones used in the last kingmaker recruitment. :D

A bit of context first: The group of possible heroes just rescued a little elf girl. According to legends, she is to be sacrificed to save the world, thing my character doesn’t want to accept. By saving the elf child, we ended up freeing a hound archon that was being kept prisoner as well. The hound Archon had just promised to help a family find their lost children, and then upon discovering the elf girl, wanted to take her away for safekeeping.
Example 1.

The second example, of the same character, happens when for some reason the party decided to go on exploring, while they left the elf child in the care of a trusted ally, but not before the mage get attached to the elf girl. Later they discovered that one of the allied factions started working with the devils and the camp, where they left the elf child, is under attack. The party travelled back with haste, to find the encampment a warzone. After fighting some of the enemy’s soldiers, we captured some of the knights and the barbarian wanted to execute them, and well, just to contradict the man and because it was the right thing to do, the mage stepped into his path. The barbarian then tricks the mage into believing the elf girl is dead because of the knights.
Example 2.

The last example is a one related to combat:
Combat Example.

Leadership Roles - QUEEN of Course! (everyone else can be my consorts!) Failing that Thieves' Guild Master (What that's not a role?), Royal Enforcer, Spymaster, Warden (That way I don't have ta run from any of them.), Treasurer ;) Viceroy (My own little parasitic paradise?), Diplomat (Sorry, I had ta kill everyone and take their stuff.) or Consort. Basically any task involving a high benefit to low work output ratio.

Combat Roles - You ever have ta wrestle a feral cat? Going for a rogue/fighter (caddish) build--lots of dirty tricks, acrobatics, sneak attacks and general underhandedness. I got your freakin' Sword Pact right here baby! Celset fires her hidden crossbow at her dueling opponent aiming for his sword arm. When he charges (they always do) she'll toss it at his legs to trip him up.

Out of Combat Roles - You ever have ta live with a feral cat? Sleep, sleep around, drink, gamble, sometimes not cheat, curse like an imaginative sailor, instigate situations that require her combat role, attempt not to care about stuff. Token disruptive party member.

Goblin charades anyone?

Faeria the now formerly mad, after the NPC's capture in the Narlmarches.

Breakfast with Celest and Lily Another Celest in another (much slower) game. Honestly the whole exchange is pretty funny. This Celest is so much fun to play I'm basically rebuilding her for this game (just have to update/downgrade her copy). All the background info is basically the same. The crunch will change slightly.

Request
I do have one request. Please use a different tag line format. All the OOCs and colons just make the thing too complicated to read or easily make adjustments to on a phone. There's no apparent upside (pretty colors?) and all the color changing format serves only to hurt my sense of style and make the lines so long that at later levels you can't fit all the pertinent info, buffs and statuses in the space provided. Even at lower levels it can be an issue--some GMs like to see a character's knowledges listed for easy access since they are reflexive rolls like perception or sense motive.

I don't think that works on the recruitment threads.

@Celest: The ruler position is mechnically keyed of charisma. If you intend to be Queen it might be a good idea to have a higher score.

Personally, I don't think that infernal healing is all that necessary oyzar! You have at least two secondary healers, and you can always buy some potions if needed.

Then I trust your word and go for the better (good) option ;). Normally I would bring this up until after we start the game, but since we were already discussing the topic: Assuming we don't end up with any more healing capable people at level 1, would you be open to letting us purchase a partially charged wand?

Yes, but I will discuss in detail this sort of things with the selected players once the recruitment will be over ;)

"And what exactly are you implying about your queen?"

To be clear, these are the positions the character (Celest) would like to hold in rough order. Truth be told, mechanically-speaking, she is actually half-way decent at most of them not having a traditional dump stat. I assume the rest of the party would promote her to the position of Vice President in Charge of Sitting Behind the Door before making her a Queen or Treasurer. In the Kingmaker story-line the party doesn't actually know they need to be good at any of these things until the end of book one. The initial charter is just to clear and survey the land. "You mean we get to rule too? SWEET! I wanna be Grand Poo-bah!"

What's up everyone? Ammon here, so i've spent the last few days mulling it over and i can't get over the paladin lawful good only thing. it really bothers me, As such i will be doing the following listed below. Neutral Good alignment btw. I should have the entirety of Anya done by tonight backstory, appearance and all.

Class Cleric of Shelyn

Combat roles Melee front-line, Healing, divine magic

Still working on the submission but Jellak Garess is part of the Garess noble family, but has become a bit of an embarrassment to the House.

Initial Background:

No real scandal, however. He simply took his first mission for the House too seriously. He was sent as an emissary for House Garess to the Golushkin Mountains to live with the dwarves while still a youth. The intent was his name and blood would be seen as a compliment and he would eventually help facilitate trade... However, Jellak took his role to seriously and fully adopted the dwarven ways of his hosts, including changing both his religion and vocation.

Years later, now a man, he returned to his family to fulfill his role in the house. However, instead of advocating for Garess interests with the dwarves Jellak consistently advocated for dwarven interests to House Garess. Notably, he is still loyal to his House, though he insists on the term "Clan" it has become clear that his closeness with the dwarves has made his intended role of emissary untenable.

Additionally, his insistence on holding "pagan" dwarven rituals involving caves and stone while ignoring the family's religious and social functions entirely has caused quite a stir within the realms of courtly gossip. He has refused to take any wife who doesn't worship Torag and uses his dwarf-given surname of "Stonecalled" interchangably with that of given surname Garess.

His parents and the leaders of House Garess have seized upon the Call of the Swordlords as a great way to get Jellak away from the world of courtly intrigue, where he increasingly a liability, while still possibly having him contribute to the influence and power of House Garess.
