GM Fuzzfoot |
Please check in here, post your PFS number, name, character name and levels, Perception, Initiative, and Day Job if you have one. Also, please add a short line introducing your self, and a summary of your characters experience with Part 1 & 2 of this series (so I can try and make the transition smooth). Then go ahead and dot in on the gameplay thread.
Vim the Wise |
PFS number: 35574-17
Name: Andreas F
Character name: Vim the Wise
Levels: Oracle 3
Perception: +0
Initiative: +2
Day Job: None
Vim is a good-hearted, if absentminded man, who never stops smiling. He's always has a story ready to tell, covering a staggering array of topics. When combat regrettably breaks out, he is befuddled at first, but quickly catches up and does what he can to help his comrades.
Vim has not played any of The Devil We Know series.
Fromper |
I've GMed all 4 parts of The Devil We Know, and part 3 is the only part I haven't played, in pretty random order with a variety of PCs. It's been about 4 years since I GMed this part, so I don't remember it at all. I'll wait and see what everyone else is bringing before I decide which PC I'll bring.
However, if we've got a lot of people who haven't played parts 1 and 2, I'd recommend that you guys start at the beginning of the series and do it properly. I can sit out, and you can probably recruit more players pretty easily to make a full group. If GM Fuzzfoot doesn't want to run all the parts, I could probably GM part of it. I've been wanting to try PBP GMing for a while, but I haven't dived in yet.
Edit: FYI, my level 3-4 PC's are a level 3 controller caster, a level 4 skill monkey/archer, and a level 4 front liner with a little healing. They can all use cure wands, so they make good backup/out of combat healers. I also have some level 2 and 5 PC's I could bring, depending on party makeup.
Actually, my level 4 front liner is the PC I played in part 4 of this series. She's probably my first choice, just because she's fun to play in PBP.
Wei Ji the Learner |
Hello there!
I am Wei Ji The Learner.
PFS# 145296
The character I'll be bringing to the table is: Zykon Gibbs
His PFS # is145296-3
Classes/LevelsBolt Ace 2/Freebooter 2 Bolt Ace is a crossbow archetype of gunslinger, Freebooter is a pirate-ish archetype of ranger that trades out Favored Enemy for 'Freebooter's Bane', designate a target as a move action, everyone gets +1 attack/+1 damage to that target until it is done.
Perception+13, Low-Light Vision
Initiative+4
Day JobProfession: Barrister +8
Gibbs has had a mixed bag, and has had the painful play history of playing Part 2 first to fill out a party, then Part 1.
In Part 1
As far as personality and characterization, Gibbs is nearly a functional mute, that prefers to respond with as few words as possible when speaking.
He can speak, and sometimes does, though.
He reserves the right to slap anyone for no damage up the backside of the head if they're being stupid and doing things like: throwing bombs into melee without any skills to back it up, insulting the person that the rest of the party is negotiating with, or calling attention to him if he's trying to be stealthy, etc.
Patterned somewhat after a particular NCIS investigator, but tengu. Another sort to think of is 'Silent Bob' if that rings any bells
In Part 2
DM Panic |
Apparently, as I've been keeping my PFS spreadsheet up to date, I also realized I had never gotten a chance to play Part 2 or Part 3, so I figured I should jump at the chance to play Part 3 if it was an opportunity again.
I've run Part 3 once, but much like Fromper it was years ago (I apparently ran parts 1-3 at in store gamedays, but never ran part 4 until just a few months ago).
We have a 3rd and a 4th level PC, which means we're looking at the 3-4 subtier.
In that specific subtier, I have 3 PCs available - a monk, a wizard and a GM blob that I think was going to go mesmerist.
Given Frompter is leaning towards front-liner, alongside an oracle and a ranged character, I'd likely go with the wizard. It's been a year or two since he's been played, so I'm somewhat looking forward to dusting him off and trying to hone in on a personality I'd like to play more.
King Hurley |
PFS ID: 15208-17 (hey another -17!)
Name: wakedown/DM Panic
Character: King Hurley Darkfrost
Levels: Wizard 3
Perception: +5
Initiative: +2
Day Job: Craft Alchemy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Still need to finish applying GM credit that dinged him to 3rd level, but that should be the right skills. He'll be updated first thing tomorrow AM.
Misaki Hamamoto |
Ok, bringing the front liner. Ironically, this is the PC I played in part 4 of this series. As I said, doing them out of order.
Name: Misaki Hamamoto
PFS number: 38137-16
Levels: Chosen One Paladin 4
Perception: -1
Initiative: 0
Day Job: Smiting Evil
Whistles the Song Thrush |
Name: Whistles the Song Thrush
PFS number: None
Levels: Emissary Familiar 4
Perception: +9
Initiative: +2 (but it's usually easier to just roll for Misaki and have them go together)
Day Job: Guiding Misaki
GM Fuzzfoot |
OK, it sounds like we are good to go, allowing for King Hurley to finish level up. Looks like a good group!
Since our histories have varied, I will start with a summary of parts 1 & 2, and then post the intro.
Good luck!
Zykon Gibbs |
Gibbs is really not in a good position to post given current information.
If Whistles shares info, that might change the situation, but currently kind of stuck in the 'not charging into smoke and fire blindly without intel' mode?
Zykon Gibbs |
Sorry I'm not doing more! But I can't think of anything else to do in character.
Zykon Gibbs |
Brain's a bit foggy this morning, that's what I've got so far, if someone can clean up the map some perhaps I'm missing something obvious, maybe positioning of folks in said paintings or something?
Fromper |
Moved your marked spots a little. You included the Hall of Wonders, which wasn't one built by the Ismacco's, but left out the Harbor Watch.
I know we're on the right track, but I really don't remember how this is supposed to go. Been about 4 years since I GMed this adventure, and haven't looked at it since.
Zykon Gibbs |
Thank you.
Only reason I added the Hall was because it was attacked, so it was a data outlier. Adding Harbor Watch helps clarify matters.
Zykon Gibbs |
There's a whole geometry thing I could do, but I don't think Gibbs has thought of that, yet, and my math of skills is crusty and rusty.
Also, are we putting out fires/smoke?
Zykon Gibbs |
All the pictures have Aroden fighting off hordes of derro.
The signature 'I' is on the statue one.
I'm not seeing anything else other than the locations of where the places are at?
Tried to take a step back and refresh three times now, but that's all I've got. Please someone for crying out loud don't worry about ruining it for me if you have common sense observations please POINT THEM OUT.
Already in the middle of a crashing and burning Wisp scenario because five of the six folks in it have either played it or judged it and are trying not to 'spoil' it, and the only person who has any applicable Knowledge skills keeps bombing the rolls.
Zykon Gibbs |
Well... made it home *this morning* at 5AM CDT.
Then was woken up by stoopid ******* telemarketer (didn't talk to, but ringer woke me up because we have it on for important calls).
Still beat.
Going to try and rest some more, hopefully some posting later today/tonight.
Zykon Gibbs |
Gibbs doesn't have a blunt weapon save his beak and he's not putting his mouth on Grandmother knows what, no offense.
If someone gives him a mace or morningstar or club he can give it a whack, though?
Zykon Gibbs |
My posting is going to be erratic for the next week due to logistics issues.
Botting permission given, keep Gibbs at range if possible in a fight, use grit as necessary, Take 10 Perception and Stealth=23
Zykon Gibbs |
Gibbs will follow the bird. Probably won't be able to post past this for the next three days, though. See above post, and sorry for the inconvenience.
Zykon Gibbs |
Darnit, can't say 'neither, friends' before it's turn... I mean,it's talking first which makes it better than a third of Pathfinder teams out there, right?
GM Fuzzfoot |
If it helps any, I was just adding some flavor... the scenario specifies it as hostile. But hey, I am always open to some creative non-combat options!
Zykon Gibbs |
Not being pushy from this perspective, either, but there is a scenario I'd like to catch on Gibbs at GenCon as well.
We've been at this since the start of May and we're pushing into our third month.
Admittedly, some of that was due to Memorial Day and the Fourth of July and folks being out of town, but it does feel at points like we're dragging our feet?
GM Fuzzfoot |
Sorry guys - this one is my fault too. Have been juggling a lot this week, and will be travelling next (which might slow me a little), but we are near the end and will definitely be done before end of month. I am running two tables on this right now, and you are only a little behind the others, and they might finish up in the next day or two.
GM Fuzzfoot |
I am travelling this week (in the mountains) and will be back in full on Sunday.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Gibbs needs to roll a day job still, I think.
Vim the Wise |
Thanks for Gming!
I've run the whole series twice, but it's been hard to find them as a player. I'm only missing part 2 now, so thanks!
GM Fuzzfoot |
Gibbs - new chronicle is in place.
The xxx actually cover a negative boon. Had you attacked the Swift prison guards at any point, you would have a penalty to further dealings with them.
Yah, it was pretty light on the chronicle sheet loot.
And I actually thought you all were going to be toast in that last encounter, but the way that the scenario describes his tactics, and that you all got a good drop on him, it just ended very quick. The smite really sealed the deal.
Interestingly, the guy before, that some of your thought was the end guy, really wasn't that tough, but put up a much better fight!
What I really don't understand is why negative channel clerics don't lead with that. It generally hits everyone with as good of an attack as they usually have, but I haven't seen a scenario yet that uses it early.
I do think for a 4 person group, you did quite well. I would like to apologize again for the speed - that Serpents Rise really monopolized some time, and I had two long family vacations in there as well. Normally I would be more on top of things, but I felt a little scatter-brained during much of this. I am glad everyone stuck in there, though, and we wrapped before you needed your characters next week.
I will get it reported shortly - I just need to figure out how to submit for form when I don't get credit. They usually get back to me pretty quick.
Thanks all for playing! It was a good group.
Zykon Gibbs |
Wow, that... how does... why would people attack the prison guards after that kind of briefing? I mean... was it tied into old faction missions or something?
Gibbs has run into negative channelers in the past PLUS there was one in this scenario.
Why would he step into the 'hurty zone' if he doesn't HAVE to?
Apologies to the group for stumbling a bit during the problem-solving, I'm either *right on* puzzles or they give me migraines with little to no 'middle ground'.
Also apologies for having been absent a bit between the trip to PaizoCon and then a family outing during June.
Hopefully when things calm down a little bit and there's not as much on the plate maybe we can do something again in the future?
Thank you again for running!!
