GM Fuzzfoot |
I am going to be out for the next two days, so I will pick it up on Monday.
Somer Hiondu |
So I live near Albany NY and the claim we are going to get too much snow to fly. It looks like my Tuesday evening return flight is now Saturday! I will post as able but who knows.
Balmir |
FYI, I'm traveling from the US to Europe this weekend and I'll be in Munich then London all week next week. I'll still have internet access and I'll still be online (this is a work trip, not a vacation) so I should be able to keep up on the postings.
Mouser Lowhill |
Hey all, I will be on spring break with my family (Moab Utah).
My posting from Wednesday until Sunday will be spotty, though I hope to check in from time to time.
Somer Hiondu |
So we are at a crossroads here I guess.
From a strategic standpoint I would like to go back to town, rest and rework my spells. More shocking grasp, less true-strike. I also think we may be able to talk to the blacksmith about a way to get this chest open which we probably need to do.
We may get attacked in town but we may also get attacked here as we already have.
I also think from a story standpoint we would follow the actual lead, the hope-knife recovery and come back tomorrow.
Seems the opinions are:
Tam and Mouser - press on
Somer and Bal - Hit town to rest
Other thoughts? Is that correct?
Mouser Lowhill |
If anyone feels we can't finish this up with our current fighting strength, I'm happy to switch my vote to back to town.
Somer Hiondu |
Ok lets go below and see what we find.
Somer Hiondu |
I have a feeling distance is going to matter greatly on this. Once people position themselves on the [u] map [u] I will open the door and start kiting the thing.
What is opening a door in the action economy? Please say swift or free.
Somer Hiondu |
So I can basically do a double move open and them retreat?
Somer Hiondu |
I marked a yellow circle on the map. That is where I am going to retreat too so you guys should be up there, except Derrik who is my backup.
I left room so we can retreat further to the West if need be.
Somer Hiondu |
Should we run? If Derrik's channel dosn't hurt them, I am not sure if he did, we may have no choice as much as that sucks. I am out of shocking grasps.
Tamxander Glenfarrow |
If we have no magic weapons and they are incorporeal, basically the only thing that can hurt them is energy damage, which means my acid splash spell. Since energy damage does 1/2 damage to incorporeal creatures, that spell would do 1 point of damage per hit.
This is a fight that we can't win.
Somer Hiondu |
I was hoping my adding the arcane point +1 would do the trick but I guess it doesnt. I guess the channel is our only shot.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Mouser, you have a racial ability called Shadowhunter? I had not heard of it before, but it allows you to do 50% dmg to incorporeal beings.
Somer, yes - arcane strike should work here, but you didn't use it the first time (round 2) and missed in round 3, so no luck there.
Somer Hiondu |
Good to know. I should be able to kill them then :)
Somer Hiondu |
I would think we would continue to use my house as home base as we did for our last rest after we return the child to his family.
Regarding healing I would think the only real problem is the ability drain.
We should also go though the loot and figure out what to sell and if items are available for purchase.
Somer Hiondu |
I am sorry I misspoke on that. I reerse those two sometimes since I hate them both.
I took one point damage so will be right as rain by the AM. Mouser will take some time.
Somer Hiondu |
I think, if there is time ontop of our investigation, we need to sell some of the stuff we have accumulated and do some upgrades. I don't plan to keep the MW longsword just knew it needed to be carried.
How do we want to handle gold? Divide it up? Take a percentage for group purchases and then divide? Does the GM have a preference on this aspect of the game?
Mouser I think in particular could go with a MW Rapier. I don't need much at this point but don't know about the others. I was thinking a scimitar but it dosn't work with weapon finesse so that is out.
Derrik Nular |

Want from the pile of Treasure.
Holy Water x 2
Smoke Stick
Bolt x 10
The shield of Faith should go to one of the front Liners that don't use a shield. Derrik does and he can cast it.
Mouser Lowhill |
I don't need any treasure...I'd probably rather sell most of what we don't want.
As for my ability score drain, I was down 5 Str. 1 was from the undead, which I recover all of because of Shadowhunter. It sounds like I heal 2 more from Derrik's excellent care, meaning I'm just down 2 now?
I can live with that.
GM Fuzzfoot |
I only had you at -4, and I forgot to separate the spider from the undead. But yes, I think your math is right, and if you rest the remainder of the day under his care, you should be basically back to normal.
Somer Hiondu |
Mowing the lawn today my mind kept going back to the shadow rats. Those are about the nastiest little buggers I have seen.
GM Fuzzfoot |
So, only Derrik has claimed anything, and Somer still has chain shirt, right?
My plan is to clear the journal whenever you get a chance and transfer things to your character sheets. I think the fair approach is to "sell off" everything, split the funds, and then let you "buy back" any items you want to keep for 1/2 price.
For instance, as it currently stands. the total value of cash and prizes is 2948, split 5 ways is 590 each.
Derrik would get 554 gold, 5 silver, 2 holy waters, 1 smokestick, and 10 bolts.
Somer would get 465 gold and masterwork chain shirt.
Everyone else gets 590 gold.
If this works, just post an ok to let me know you have updated your sheet. Or let me know if you want to buy back any of the other items (like CLW potions?)
Somer Hiondu |
Tht works for me. I may do a little shopping in that case.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Go ahead and buy one back for 1/2 price.
Mouser Lowhill |
Okay, I'll buy the potion.
Also, before we spend our gold, what does everybody think of chipping in 150 gp toward a wand of CLW?
I think that would go the furthest toward keeping us alive, and would still let people buy a MW weapon or whatever else they wanted.
I'm in...anyone else?
Somer Hiondu |
I will glady contribute to the wand. Since I am not buying much right not I will even chip in 1/3 of the cost 250gp leaving 215gp for myself.
Beyond that, if available, I would like to pick up a cold iron light mace which I think would only be around 10gp normally.
Derrik Nular |
Derrick has 1 right now with 8 charges left
