Ouch >_<
GM Fuzzfoot |
Sorry, had to rush out as I was writing that last post. She is casting defensively.
Concentration: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Unfortunately for the girl, Marduk's presence has distracted her sufficiently that she lost the spell. So no grease spell.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
"That girl is not a friend." The shaman says angrily through his mask as he steps into the door way and prepares to cast.
Concentration vs DC 17: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 4 = 17

Green was unconscious, so it is easy to kill him with two well placed shots.
Purple likewise succumbs to the rapid attacks of a rabid Marduk.

Bo Goh Twang |
Oh drat! I missed the fact that GREEN was unconscious. Can I instead just not shoot anyone? Bo isn't the kind of character to hurt someone out of the fight.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Rogzul keeps staring down the girl who tried to bluff the party, but his eyes roll back and seem to glow. The sounds of his spirits becomes an almost audible whisper as he focuses his will onto the enemy.
Evil Eye Hex: -2 to all ability checks for 7 rounds. DC 15 Will save reduces this to 1 round.
GM Fuzzfoot |
While it looked like Bo Goh put 2 arrows into the downed opponent, it is now clear that he simple shot them into the man's jacket, pinning him to the ground.
Haliban easily knocks out the deceptive girl.
Combat over.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
"I will tie her up." Rog says, pulling rope from his pack and pointing to the girl following instruction from his spirits.
"We can ask why she lied."
Marduk Zhro'hysh |
Marduk deflates from her rage and sits down in a corner, covered in blood.
"Marduk fatigued. Not happy. Fight too short." she says, sulking.
Serres "Fade" Vahl |
Fade moves in, stepping over and past either unconscious or dead bodies, looking for signs of the tablets, traps or pirates.
He spies the small room to the north and investigates it, moving past the bloody wildling.

Lanfyr checks the door, and finds no enemies. As Marduk rests and cares fro her wounds and Rogzul binds the bleeding spellcaster, Fade checks out the smaller room and finds a trap door in the floor.
Bo Goh checks, and all of the thugs are currently still alive, but will die shortly without medical attention.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Rogzul has the Stabilize cantrip, if anyone wants me to prevent the enemies from dying, it isn't something he would do himself though.
"Do we want to talk to her? Or leave her to die?" Rog asks, unsure how his party wants to continue, if they choose to speak with the girl he will heal her.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
If not, he will wander to the back and grunt at the trap door that Fade found.
He will look through the room and smell the air, trying to determine if anyone had gone through the trap door recently.

Bo Goh Twang |
Bo looks up to the others, "These men will die if we do nothing. Is it within our abilities to save them? For us to kill in combat is one thing, but to allow the candle of life to be blown out for no reason lessens who we are and what we strive to be."
Haliban Corentas |
"Save em or don't. No doubt this brush with death will cause them to turn over a new leaf and be model citizens." After checking her so called father "Think this is Lubor?"
Serres "Fade" Vahl |
"If they live, fine but just don't go out of your way." Fade days off handedly.
Seeing the look on Bo's face he shrugs his shoulders and says, "Look, it doesn't lessen me at all. They weren't going to worry about keeping me alive, I'm sure."
Turning to Haliban, Fade agrees,"Yep, I'll bet that's him." shaking his head he continues, "Damn shame that they went and killed him."
Fade searches the bodies for anything of value or interest.
Slight of hand: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
Fade motions to Haliban to come check out the trap door. "Maybe this will lead us to the tablets."

The thugs each had: potion of blur, potion of cure moderate wounds, potion of darkvision; Studded leather, buckler, longsword, composite shortbow, quiver with 20 arrows, backpack, 50 ft. silk rope, a grappling hook, signal whistle, silver earring (5 gp), 2 gp. The spell caster simply had quarterstaff, dagger, spell component pouch, spell components and an empty potion bottle.
The trap door is not trapped.
It doesn't sound like you brought anyone conscious, and may or may not have let them live, correct?
Serres "Fade" Vahl |
Oh I think role play wise Fade is against wasting the effort, but Bo wants to stabilize any that are not dead. Fade won't put up an argument and Rogzul healed one to consciousness.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Rog shrugs, being given conflicting advice, but his spirits remind him that his superiors tend to prefer there not be dead bodies left in the wake of every mission, so he stabilizes each of the thugs.
Since no one seems interested in speaking with the enemy, he unties the girl and places his rope back in his pouch. Unable to pick up any scents that might tell him if the trap door was used he frowns but nods when Fade suggests using the trap door.
"Then lets go." He grunts impatiently.
I didn't heal one, that was only if anyone wanted to question them, but seeing it's the second time Rog asked, I'm assuming the answer is no. He spent his time trying to find tracks around the trap door instead.
Lanfyr Tal'Riven |
After a minute of looking for any enemies or other prying eyes Lanfyr turns back to the room from which he came.
"Their actions bespeak of their character. I hold no opinion in these lands on how to punish the guilty so their fates concern me not at all."
Lanfyr moves to help Fade with the trap door.
Marduk Zhro'hysh |
Marduk doesn't care for the unconscious but obviously won't object stabilizing and healing them.
"I be not care. Let's move." says Marduk, standing.
GM Fuzzfoot |
A plain wooden ladder leads down from the trap door. Rogzul confirms that some people have recently gone through here, and just as you think to descend, he notices a faint odor of something odd - the ladder has been greased! You should still be able to take 10 to descend slowly.
It seems to lead to a rocky shore and the Underdocks.
Serres "Fade" Vahl |
"Good catch on the grease there. I'll go down first." Fade says to the group.
What does it look like down there? He will lower a torch beforehand if need be to see unless low light is enough. He's looking before leaping, so to speak. He will then descend slowly, taking 10.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Fuzzfoot |
It is safe enough to descend.
You enter into a gloomy, greenish twilight where scattered beams of light filter down between weathered dock planks, bouncing off seaweed covered stones that jut from the dark harbor waters. A forest of pylons suspends the docks above where the scurrying feet of merchants, sailors, and longshoremen hammer like a muffled thunderstorm. Between the pylons, you spot small stone bunkers, ruins of older siege forts now crumbling and weathered from centuries of angry waves. A narrow set of docks traverses the rocks, connecting various locations. Eventually, all lead out to the shallow bay at the mouth of the maze. Nearby, you notice a fresh trail of muck-limned, wet footprints.
Serres "Fade" Vahl |
"This way! We've got a trail! Someone was by here not long ago." he says to the others as he continues on.
Haliban, since you have trap spotter do you want to run ahead down here? Fade is happy to let you take point, and I'll take 10 at doors or entryways for 26.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
"Anyone can not be the human shield. Only some of us are human." Rogzul says to Haliban, in case he didn't understand that. "I will follow behind as well. A shaman's place is not in front."
He follows behind Fade and anyone else that wishes to take point, but keeps his senses alert for anything or anyone that may overtake them while traveling into this strange underground dock.
Lanfyr Tal'Riven |
If the tunnel is dark I will switch my animal focus to "bat" and have darkvision
"I may be of help near the front if that is your wish." Lanfyr says to the group. Lanfyr steps to the side of Fade and peers down the tunnel to see what he can see.

Serres "Fade" Vahl |
"Come on Lanfyr. Let's go. As for the rest of you...just be on alert for surprises." Fade hisses as he shakes his head with a lopsided smile. Brave lot of killers we have. All best from behind, HAH!
He moves along swiftly, not wanting whoever left the wet prints behind to get much further ahead. He takes out a vial from his belt containing a potion of shield of faith and hands it to Lanfyr. "Here, take this. I've got another. It will only last a minute but it should help protect you."
After passing off the vial, he pulls out a second for himself, and also quickly pulls out a heavy resin soaked bag that hovers behind him telekinetically as he continues to move ahead and scan for threats.

Serres "Fade" Vahl |
As Bo takes the lead, Fade grins. It just takes a little verbal nudging for some. "Don't get too far ahead speedy. I've seen you move and the rest of us can't hope keep up"
GM Fuzzfoot |
It looks like this is a dead end, as the end of the dock is empty. However, Lanfyr notices a nearby dock and two rowboats. It appears, though, that these boats have some men guarding them.
Serres "Fade" Vahl |
This seems like a smuggler's dock from the description, but does that seem about the right of it to Fade? How far away are these Guards and their boats?
"Good eyes Lanfyr. Lead us over that way Bo, and since you don't mind, move in close so they won't suspect anything. Maybe even use that dim wi... err... sweet charm of yours when you ask them if they saw anyone pass by recently. I would wager that those little boats lead to a bigger ship out a ways."
If they are pirates we can always fight if we have to, but on the off chance this is a legal dock and they are just paid guards, it might pay to start diplomatically. Ugh! Did I really just think that?! I have got to get away from that damn fool monk.
Marduk Zhro'hysh |
Marduk follows Bo closely and walks humming a song. When she's pointed out the folks at the other dock, she blinks and asks Bo and Fade.
"Dey enemy? We be attack?"
