The crisp chill of the Arcadian Ocean can be clearly felt as it sweeps across the fetid waters of Riddleport Harbor and onto the city streets, and the briny air inspires recent memories. Only a few days ago, back in Magnimar, Venture-Captain Sheila Heidmarch detailed the covert mission from behind the oaken desk in her office. “Lissala is the Thassilonian goddess of runes, fate, and obedience,” she explained. “Her followers are wicked and secretive, but they can be bought for the right price. The Aspis Consortium offered that price. In exchange for creating a back door into the Hao Jin Tapestry—a museum demiplane that we Pathfinders thought was entirely our own—the Aspis Consortium promised a river of wealth to the secretive cult. The Pathfinder Society ejected the Aspis Consortium from the Hao Jin Tapestry and the Consortium defaulted on its contract with the cult of Lissala. As you might expect from followers of a goddess of duty, the Lissalans are irate at the Aspis Consortium for defaulting. Tensions between the two groups are at their breaking point, and I need you to finish the job."

“Vidrin Jenk is a silver agent in the Aspis Consortium, newly arrived in Riddleport and anxious to prove his worth to the organization. The Aspis Consortium recently purchased the Barracuda Cartage company, and Jenk operates out of the offices there. Jenk plans to patch up relations with the cult of Lissala, which is well hidden somewhere in Riddleport. To help him, Jenk requisitioned a group of Aspis Consortium specialists—all bronze agents led by a mysterious troubleshooter named Thestil Shadowtongue.”

At this point, Venture-Captain Heidmarch slid several bronze badges across the desk, some flecked with blood. “Those specialists didn't make it to Riddleport. I want you to pretend to be the Aspis Consortium agents Jenk requested. Do as he asks, but only to keep suspicion off of you until you find out where the cult of Lissala is hiding. Once you know that, I need you to do two things. First, sabotage the Lissalan safe house as completely as possible. Second, throw the blame for the sabotage onto the Aspis Consortium."

“How you complete these tasks I leave to your discretion, but I want you to keep murder to a minimum. One of the Lissalan cultists is feeding us information, and I don’t want to risk you killing this valuable source. Furthermore, we want the Lissalans to remain alive so they can turn their full ire against the Aspis Consortium. Once you’ve accomplished these two mission objectives, return here.”

Heidmarch smiles broadly. “Welcome to the Aspis Consortium. Any questions before you leave for Riddleport?”

TL;DR: The Aspis Consortium and the Lissalans, both enemies of the Pathfinder Society, worked together and failed, and now the Aspis Consortium owes the Lissalans a ton of money. Vidrin Jenk is an Aspis Consortium who is in Riddleport to try and fix the relations with the Lissalans. He was supposed to get new agents but the Society seems to have killed them and given you their badges. You are to infiltrate, and the two mission objectives are above, so read that part.

"Methinks that I may not have quite the makings of a deceptive agent. One would suppose that I may be an armed guard however so I shall partake of this ruse!" Linux declares exuberantly. "How dost thou recommend we proceed in Riddleport, Venture-Captain? Do you have any additional information about the Consortium or Jenk that might aid us in achieving our mission goal?"

Korvosan Sewers | | Abandoned Vault

Venture-Captain Heidmarch smiles at the tengu, "That's the best part of this, Jenk doesn't know anything about Thestil Shadowtongue other than by reputation. He's known to be a loyal agent but also remains mysterious and anonymous. Nobody knows Thestil's gender or race, so I would recommend you put your best liar forward and emphasize your enigmatic reputation."

She's met with another good question right after she finishes with the tengu, looking over to the wizard, "Well, what little we know is that they are a cleric and probably human, but none of that is a guarantee. Your best course of action should be to refrain yourself from indiscriminately killing everyone in the safe house."

Sheila catches her breath, "You seem to be mind-readers, this last bit of information is all I have, I'm afraid. I wanted to save myself the trouble of having to give you all the details but if you're going to push for information, information you shall get..."

After another long breath she starts up again, "The informant fed us a little information about Jenk's task. It involve's Riddleport's temples but beyond that we have no suppositions. Thestil has a reputation for being an all-around troubleshooter dealing with anything that would prefer to stay anonymous. Jenk requisitioned a team with a variety of skills so you should be prepared for anything. Keep in mind, your task is to cast blame on the Aspis Consortium, not eradicate it. If there are several suspicious deaths at the same time the safe house is sabotaged, it would be easy to piece together that there was a third party and we can't have that. Play nice and don't blow your cover."

Venture-Captain Heidmarch slumps into her chair and waves her hand, dismissing you to your task. "DON'T get caught."

Raphael Knows History: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Awww there was actually a DC 30+ column, oh well. ;)

Raphael, in his vast studies, recalls some information about Lissala in history....

"Lissala was the Thassilonian deity of runes, fate, duty, and obedience. Her worshipers are generally sadistic self-flagellants who believe that self-inflicted pain opens the mind to enlightenment.

Lissala taught the seven virtues of rulership to Thassilonians, but these virtues became perverted under the runelords to reflect the seven mortal sins. At that time, Lissala’s worship grew more secretive and more sadistic. Many scholars assume that Lissala, like most Thassilonian gods, is no longer worshiped."

Linux Knows Religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Linux speaks up and says he knows a bit about religion, but when everyone turns to look at him, he becomes full of himself and uses the attention to talk about how he's just a great beautiful warpriest instead of talking about the key religions in Riddleport.

You all leave the Lodge, do any extra shopping you want to do, and travel all the way to Riddleport arriving at the Barracuda Cartage in the guise of the Aspis Consortium agents during sundown. Despite the late hour, the trade house is lively as ever. The Aspis Consortium’s headquarters in Riddleport is a dilapidated compound showing signs of recent repair. The cartage company’s main building rises three stories above the filthy streets. Behind this main building stands a coach-house large enough for four wagons. A weedy yard is enclosed by a high brick wall, but the large wooden doors to the yard stand open to admit new business, even in this evening hour. Beside the doors, a wooden sign reads, “Barracuda Cartage. Under New Management.”

Beyond the large wooden doors that are propped wide open, six thuggish Aspis Consortium mercenaries loiter in the loading yard, overseeing a dozen laborers loading carts with a large shipment of fine sailcloth. They all give you suspicious looks at first but then go back to their duties, assuming that you're all just here on business.

What do you all wish to do? Map is up and there are only 2 maps where you move around and fight, so you'll have to just imagine it and act accordingly. :P The main map is just to see where you are in the city, you guys are marked with the X

Before anyone else can step up, one of the guards quickly steps forward, "Yes sir! Boss Jenk is upstairs in the main building..." he points behind him to the upper floor, "You can't miss him. Dark hair, beard, wears lots of gold lining on his clothes."

There's nothing else of noticeable importance as the men move out of the way and respectfully let you pass to walk into the trade house and go upstairs to meet with Vidrin Jenk. When you arrive, Jenk is standing behind a desk strewn with contracts and ledgers, doing his best to read multiple papers at once. He barely glances up before looking back down to manage more of his paperwork, "Badges. And which one of you is Thestil? I've heard much about you."

Jenk narrows his eyes and mutters, "I suppose I expected you to be a bit more professional..." he shrugs and otherwise believes your ruse for now, "Welcome to Riddleport. I've requested your team to handle a small issue we're having with one of our contractors. We would like to ease our relations with this contractor by presenting them some gifts from various local temples that owe the Consortium a substantial sum. They're overdue on their loans, however we've sent missives to these temples and instructed them to pay their back-due interest in the form of a religious icon or magic item. They are expecting you to come by before tonight."

Jenk paces behind his desk, "The three temples you're to visit are the Publican House to acquire a sacred mug, the House of the Silken Veil to obtain a magical dagger, and the Fish Bowl to pick up a magical bicorne hat. Retrieve these items for me by tonight and I shall reward you with the honor of representing the Aspis Consortium when we deliver these gifts to our contractor."

He looks over some more of his paperwork and then looks back up at the party, "That is all. I don't care which temple you visit first, just make sure you bring me all of the items by tonight." He ushers you out and doesn't give you much time to ask questions, but you can ask one or two as he's trying to push you out the door.

There's no knowledge checks and he doesn't have any super important information, but if you ask the right question and there's more information that I didn't disclose above, I'll share it, so ask away and decide amongst yourselves which temple you want to visit first. You'll basically be going there right after you leave unless you want to purchase more items along the way.

The Fish Bowl stands along the river atop a high stone base. Well-worn stone stairs ascend the stone base to access the temple above, but a chain has been drawn across the top of the stairs to block easy access. From the street, it is difficult to see anything occurring in the temple at the top of the platform. Only a few dim lights flicker up in the temple, and a narrow tower or lookout post rises above it.

You arrive and begin ascending the stairs that lead to the temple which is not much more than a small structure built around a deep round pool of murky seawater.

Linux Knows Religion!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Linux lets the group know that this is a temple of Besmara and that their followers usually like to keep dangerous sea creatures within the pool for sacrifice and worship.

There doesn’t seem to be anyone around and the chain would suggest that the temple is closed. How do you proceed?

"Now I remember how to use this guy!" Eradan grabs 2 more arrows and lets them fly towards the one on Lucent!

Ranged Flurry Attack 1!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Ranged Flurry Attack 2!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Ranged Flurry Damage 1!: 1d8 ⇒ 7

The tengu fires a flurry of arrows and both shots sink into the hissing creature. It gives out a loud screech of pain and lashes out with both of its claws at Lucent!

Death Frenzy Claw!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Death Frenzy Claw!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Flailing its arms around, it manages to miss Lucent completely and falls over dead. The other one glances over for a second and gives out a loud screech as it sees its brother being killed by a giant bird.

Turn 3:
Linux - Go
Lucent - Go
Raphael - Go
Eradan - Killed Monster 1
Monster 2 - Wait
Monster 1 - Dead!

Keep in mind, Lucent, that it's still technically alive on your turn so it'll get attacks of opportunity and such.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Wizard/1 HP 8/8 | BAB +0 | AC 12 | T 12| FF 10| CMD 11| Fort +1 | Ref +2 | Will +2 | Perception +7 | Initiative +6

As Raphael's spell goes off he sees one of the monsters fall. Reloading his crossbow he takes aim at the remaining one and looses a bolt.

Range Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 4 = 1

The bolt flies off and embeds itself in the wall.

Linux swings his blade in a wide arc towards the remaining creature.

Confirm crit!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Possible additional critical damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

"Take that, lobster-lips!"

Korvosan Sewers | | Abandoned Vault

Lobster-lips foams at the beak/lips and pushes through the pain, still barely clinging to life as it retaliates with two claw attacks!

Lobster-Lips Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Lobster-Lips Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Lobster-lips connects with his first attack and the pincers cut through Linux's armor to try and grab him!

Lobster-Lips Grab: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Linux is able to break out with ease but the wound from the claw feels a little itchy...

Poison Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Poison Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Claw Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Linux takes 3 damage from the claw and the poison courses through his veins, draining 2 strength as well.

Turn 3:
Lucent - Go
Raphael - Go
Eradan - Go
Monster 2 - Clawed Linux
Linux - Go (again!)

Go ahead and everyone go, it's on its last few hitpoints.
