Foxy Quickpaw |
Eric doesn't remember to have seen any information about the number of crew members of the Acreon. Searching the android further reveals no additional devices.
Readied action to shoot when not dropping the weapon? Might have led to shooting when not dropping the weapon. And you're not able to identify where the android belonged to. As there is nothing indicating that on her.
EH-RK |
Eric frowns It is highly unlikely that this Android was a member of the Acreon. She fired upon us while we fought a creature that would have most likely enjoyed eating her. It is far more likely she came here representing some other group interested in the Acreon and the Drift Rock.
Is Nor's drone still around?
Foxy Quickpaw |
Yes. As long as you don't shoot or restraint it, the drone is following you around everywhere.
From this cave you can continue to go left, which will lead you back into the first cave. Or you go back the way you came and try the two other ways that lead from the second cave - in addition to the connection to the first cave.
Going right in the second cave where you turned left the last time leads to the surface again. Going straight on leads to a cave with dead humanoid body floating in it. It wears an estex suit I with a backup generator armor upgrade and is holding an empty survival flare gun.
From there on is another exit to the surface and another cave that is empty. Luckily this maze isn't too big so you find your way without too much wandering round.
Once back in the third cave where you fought the two space zombies you notice a credstick (with 470 credits), an azimuth laser rifle and a needler pistol floating in this chamber. Both weapons are depleted of charges and ammunition. But the most interesting thing here is still the door that would be totally normal on a space station. But here it is inside of a piece of rock. Besides it sits a console and a hand scanner. Or scanner for appendage similar to hand.
EH-RK |
Earlier
Eric faces the drone and says Ambassador Nor, do you recognize this Android. She tried to kill us, twice probably. There is a high probability that she was dispatched from Absolom Station.
Now
EH-RK scans the console and attempts to hack it if he can.
Computers: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
EH-RK |
Does the Ambassador respond? Also, guys no one else has posted since Friday at 730AM... That's 48 hours of just me and the GM playing this game.
Eric places his hand on the touchpad.
Foxy Quickpaw |
The door slides smoothly open. In stark contrast to the caverns elsewhere inside the Drift Rock, this chamber looks more like a room on a space station or starship. Rather than the unfinished rock of the asteroid, the walls, floor, and ceiling are clad with finished sheets of some polished, metallic substance, along with components of unrecognizable equipment. Panels on some of the walls flash with lights and mysterious symbols, and an almost infrasonic hum of unseen machinery pulses through the walls. The corridor leads a short distance straight in and then meets one running orthogonal. To the right you hear steps of something heavy and metallic coming closer. But it has not yet come around the corner into sight.
Manteca Imani, MD |
Manteca creeps behind EH-RK, head on a swivel looking at the manufactured transition away from the cave system. Do you think the Acreon found this before or after they decided to tow it, the shirren asks everyone telepathically.
Upon hearing the booming sounds approaching, Manteca flinches back behind EH-RK.
EH-RK |
There's no way Eric is facing whatever it is that is coming...he backs away and takes some cover behind Boreal.
Boreal Typhon |
"I am weakened from that things tongue earlier. I might not be the best to hide behind." Boreal says as she draws her azimuth artillery and readies to attack whatever is coming round the corner.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d10 ⇒ 7
Foxy Quickpaw |
Around the corner comes an ancient looking robot. If it might have been friendly is now a moot point as Boreal opened fire. Even though the shot goes wide. The robot shoots a bundle of electric arcs at Boreal, EH-RK, Manteca and Tannhäuser.
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3
(Reflex DC 13 for half)
EH-RK |
Ref: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Eric dodges aside and takes cover behind the rock wall nearby.
Manteca Imani, MD |
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Manteca begins making a flurry of suggestions about how other people can shoot the robot better as he beats it to some available cover.
Get 'Em in effect for the +1, retreating
Dame Tannhäuser |
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Grunting from the shock Tannhäuser charges the robot.
Stellar Rush (Bull Rush): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 17
Fire Damage: 2d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3, 6) + 1 + 1 = 11 Reflex DC 13 for half.
Solar Attunement 1/3
Even if the Bull Rush doesn’t hit it still takes the Fire damage, and I don’t take a penalty to my AC or attack.
EH-RK |
Eric pokes his head out from behind the rock and fires his laser pistol
Lasers: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Fire: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Edited the map to reflect the last few moves/hits, Tannhauser is at 3/11HP
Manteca Imani, MD |
Manteca pops his head around the corner. "You have this Tannhauser! Just hit it in the... um... I think that's a knee?" He begins trying again to coordinate attacks from behind cover.
Inspiring boost to Tannhauser (regain 6 sp to hopefully stay upright), Get 'Em to everyone else. Take those +1s to hit!
Dame Tannhäuser |
”Knee. Joint. Weak spot.” Tannhäuser replies while striking at the robot again.
Solar Armament: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 1 = 25
Slashing: 1d6 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 11
Solar Attunement 2/3
Foxy Quickpaw |
Allison keeps playing with the electronics causing them to sputter out endless lines of exceptions and errors.
trick!: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 4 = 25
Attack!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage!: 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (4) + (4) = 8
Boreal manages to hit too and together they end the machine. It's lights go out and all limbs hang down and the body lowers into some parking position between the legs with large feet.
Moving beyond the robot you enter a different world.
You have the map, tell where you want to go once you're ready.
Dame Tannhäuser |
"Huh, that explains the robot, this was a structure of some sort. I wonder what it was for?" Tannhäuser wonders aloud to herself after the robot falls.
1 Right
2 Left
1d2 ⇒ 2
Left
Dame Tannhäuser |
Tannhäuser inspects the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Dame Tannhäuser |
"I'll manage." she responds softly while holding up a hand to assuage the Soldier.
"Thank you for your concern, M'lady Boreal."
Boreal Typhon |
Boreal nods with a smile, blushing as she still gets caught off guard slightly when Tannhauser addresses her so.
"Why is this all in the middle of an asteroid?" she asks throwing her hands around her and turning to indicate the metal surrounding them.
Dame Tannhäuser |
Tannhäuser smiles underneath her veil. "That is a very good question."
Dame Tannhäuser |
"... we also haven't seen the rest of the crew."
EH-RK |
Kasatha Dame Tannhauser: I am certain with a high degree of probability approaching one hundred percent that the crew has been found...and reanimated, and then destroyed. I have cross referenced Acreon logs with reanimated corpses found on the Drift rock.
EH-RK responds to his allies
Vesk Boreal Typhon: It is altogether likely, approaching near certainty, that this is no asteroid, but some other thing.
Eric inspects the control room Computerz?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 Engineering and Culture are also +9
Dame Tannhäuser |
We've only fought 3 zombies though haven't we?
EH-RK |
Humanoids: This console is quite unlike any other I have encountered. Please stand by for further information... and Eric proceeds to systematically analyze the console. Taking 20 if I can....
Foxy Quickpaw |
EH-RK continues to try out the console, but it has a malfunction that sends an electric shock through the body of the android.
Electricity Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5, 3, 6, 3) = 23
But it unlocks the console. But that only gets you that far - the coding is in a strange language that consists of letters you don't know.
Culture to decipher
EH-RK |
That's 9 more damage than necessary to drop me into death spiral unconsciousness.
Eric exults in his victory over the console for only a few microseconds before convulsing and dropping to the ground.
pls heal pls, EH-RK has a Mk1 Healing Serum
Dame Tannhäuser |
Tannhäuser eyes widen in horror as the Android is electrocuted. Looking over his body to see how bad the damage is she finds the serum and promptly jams in it into the unconscious Erik.
Manteca Imani, MD |
Manteca jumps into action, pulling out the medkit again and rushing to EH-RK's side.
Medicine DC 25 to treat deadly wounds
Medicine: 1d20 + 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + (3) + 6 = 10
The shirren's claws shake uncontrollably as Tannhauser pushes her way past and pushes the medicine into EH-RK. Manteca stands up in a rush, leaving the medkit on the ground. Without looking behind him, he waves at the bag. "There's two more serums in there, for anyone who needs them. I bought them as a failsafe, but..." He shakes his head. It's looking like they're more reliable by far than me, he says telepathically, his feelings of dejection and self-loathing coming through the link.
Boreal Typhon |
Seeing EH-RK's breathing stabalise Boreal turn and physically grabs Dr Manteca by the shoulders and tries to stear him ouside into the cavern. "We need a word." Boreal says as she waits for Manteca to move.
Heal: 1d8 ⇒ 8Any healing grants the stable condition
EH-RK |
In Starfinder there is no negative HP, so 8HP of healing brings me up to 8HP. Thanks!
EH-RK wakes suddenly and says Huma0idz: Error. Data. Corrupted. Consollaeeeerrrrr[!@#$#@!@$#^^&*#$#%@#!^%&($%^#
And then after a few moments EH-RK stands and says Humanoids: That was near catastrophic neural damage. However, I believe the console is now unlocked and hackable. EH-RK taps at his datapad Using Spellcache to cast Comprehend Languages, which I assume is needed since you asked for a Culture roll to decipher an unknown script
Dame Tannhäuser |
Tannhäuser's eyes shift up and down the smoldering form of the now standing Android before she simply shrugs.
Foxy Quickpaw |
Fire Control' hint that it may have been some sort of space-based weapon system. In addition, the data reveals that these systems and the control room itself are incredibly ancient—possibly even millions of years old. In fact, it appears that the Drift Rock is not just an asteroid that was repurposed as a control center, but that it was a part of the larger structure that was designed and artificially constructed at the same time as the machinery and controls here. And if all that is true, then the Drift Rock represents a find of major significance, for not only is it a piece of heretofore-unknown technology of exceedingly advanced age, but the larger structure it was once a part of may still be somewhere among the stars, just waiting to be discovered!
Boreal Typhon |
"Doctor Manteca Imani, have you ever been combat trained?" Boreal asks matter-of-factly. "Combat is not something that you can walk into without prior experience and expect to cope with. Without experience the mind and body betray you. Not performing as they would on a day to day basis. It is nothing to be ashamed of to not perform well in a combat situation if you have never been trained to deal with the extra stresses it places on you." Boreal says, "One should be ashamed of giving up on their allies because they feel inadequate. If you feel you are inadequate you try harder, you train harder, and you make sure that next time your allies rely on you you do not let them down."
