One of the sisters starts "Hergtag’s children vanished one by one, only to return as ghosts. Then one day the culprit was found - the Beast of Lepidstadt. It boldly walked into the village with one of the dead children, a girl named Ellsa. We all saw the Beast laughing as it carried the child’s broken body. As soon as the locals saw the Beast, they set upon it with pitchforks, but try as they might they couldn’t catch it, and the Beast escaped into the swamp. The poor innocents it killed continued to haunt the village, and before long became too much for the locals, who soon abandoned the cursed village. As we did and moved here to Lepidstadt."

"They came to the places where they were in life. Mostly their homes. But at night you could stumble into them all over the village." the woman answers.

"SO we explore the town then?" Herm will set off towards the town, hammer in hand just incase something comes out at them.
"Yes, let's arrange some horses and go to Herstag." Kendra answers Herm. "Thank you for your cooperation," she finishes with the three sisters.
Once they've arranged the horses and are on the way, Kendra comments. "There actually is an undead that can create other undead, called a wraith. Any victims it kills will turn into wraiths themselves, which look like ghosts... dark shapes of shadow with pinpricks of light for eyes."
She sighs "This would be difficult to fight. They are incorporeal, obviously, so we would need to use magic weapons. Wraiths are, sadly, beyond redemption."
You approach the village of Hergstag from the east. It lies in the loop of the river - now abandoned and overgrown. The farmland has fallen to ruin, and now even the well-trodden pathways around the area are overgrown. The crops have gone to seed and high corn grows everywhere, affecting visibility. Which means that you see the roofs of some houses from afar, but walking into the village you'd see nothing.

Herm looks at the village cautiously, not knowing what to feel exactly.

Jominda is inattentive about where she steps. A large and heavy bear trap springs shut and clamps around her leg.

"By the gods!" Kendra screams, but runs up to Jominda to try and aide her. Seeing the trap, she knows she can't really do anything quickly though. "Herm, pull it open!"

Herm rushes forward, putting his hammer down and putting both hands into the trap to begin to open it.
Harrold rushes up, and says "Be still, moving will make it worse." He quickly kneels next to the trap, pulls out some tools and starts to tinker with the springs, trying to unseat them, Disable Device:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
He holds the trap in place as he manages to get a hook behind the base of the spring and slips it out of it's bracket. Holding the trap closed still, "This is going to hurt badly." He says to Jominda, to the others he says, "Someone give her some wine, and give me a waterskin."

Herm pulls out his water skin, not having any wine with him.
Harrold grabs the water skin, grabs Jominda's leg, he holds her as still as he can so he can see the wound and cleans it as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Fighting the way through the corn you come upon a farmhouses. It is abandoned, and while some furniture such as a table, some chairs and a washboard remains, the home has been given over to termites and cockroaches.
