As Spugnoir speaks Grergof's head snaps up and he says worriedly:

The scythe drew obviously all attention away from the surroundings.
A large, rectangular block of stone rests on this weather-beaten stone balcony, while ruined wooden benches line the eastern wall under a row of tiny, barred windows above. A stout wooden door sits in the wall near the northern end of the balcony.
"Well, at least we brought the Haunt Siphons. Did I ever say what they do? They can drag out the psychic energy of whatever is keeping the haunt active. It's supposed to be pretty effective."
Hailiss leans against the railing, as they figure out who needs healing before they proceed.
I think this was a place of execution from the look of the block and scythe. Spugnoir points at the door. So we should check out that door I believe. Spugnoir examines the door

"I think you might have mentioned it Hayliss. If there are any more haunts, you and those things will be out best weapons against them."
Darius moves over to flank Spugnoir and draws his sword. "How's that door coming Spugnoir lad?"
Behind one of the barred windows the evil seems to be more present. The use of the block is not obvious. But the positioning, the rotten benches and the proximity to the prison suggest that it isn't a pedestal for a flower arrangement.
Focus on the evil and Note which window the evil is coming from.
Try to see how many auras there are and if they are moving.
In a grave voice Brother Varsk says:

He turns to the group and quietly says "Looks like there are cells here. Spotted a skeleton but nothing more. Think we'll have to force the door open from this side."
Darius moves to the door and gently braces his shoulder against it for a shove but holds his ground. "I'll need a hand over here from one of you young strong folks. But the rest will have to cover us just in case somethings waiting on the other side."
Wait. Do you really want to beak that door down? If we do that we can not close it again if there is something we want to keep in there. The front door is open, I say we go in that way and meet the evil head on. I would hate to break in this way and have something sneak behind us.

This was once a wide hall flanked by a pair of waiting rooms, but the foyer to Harrowstone now lies in ruins. With little left to hold up the ceiling, the wooden beams above sag dramatically. The wall to the north contains a large pair of oaken doors.
Looking inside reveals that this room is in no good condition. Streaks of mold stain the walls of this foyer, and the floor below is a thick, gray carpet of fungal growth. Sturdy wooden doors beckon from every wall.
As Spugnoir carefully steps in to take a closer look at the fungus and the door to the left the badly-burnt faces of ghostly shrieking criminals rush out of all of the doors towards and through him before causing each door to slam violently shut.
