The spell is mostly useless. There are two things where you would have use for that.
1. You bought a NOT masterwork bow with an expensive strength rating.
2. You built a society character with a heirloom weapon and find out that you're retroactively screwed because the trait was nerfed to not give you a masterwork weapon.
For everything else you can just as well throw away the not masterwork item and buy a new one. We're talking 15 gold in case of a heavy flail. It'll cost you more to learn the spell.
My 2 cents worth.
Stam Truthfinder |
A master work flail is 315 gold, the spell still makes you pay the cost different. I can see how it would be nice for someone who has a very unique weapon that won't be found often or at all in a normal AP
like a Elven Curve Blade

Is the case of 10 crossbow bolts anything special?
Magic, Masterwork, etc? Seems odd to have them in a case.
As for buying stuff, Darius got the perfect weapon upgrade. (Magic Longsword)
I picked up my bow which ate most of my cash. So I don't have much left.
Plus both of us can live with the masterwork Chainmail we found. Not perfect, but good enough for now.
I figure Stam isn't taking treasure as he built his character at 4th level
So that just leaves Spugnoir.
He hasn't really upgraded his stuff and has not picked up any new recipes, so he would be the one who might want to buy things...
Spugnoir2 |
I got a +1 Mace, upgraded my studded leather and have a Stone of Alarm
Took Lesser Restoration as my level up recipe.(helpful when getting punched by undead)

If we're fast forwarding, my plan is to go to the sheriff and convince him to go to dinner in my place an surprise Jominda and give him a couple gold pieces so that if anything they get to have a free dinner and get to spend time together.
I think I have stuff to sell but I'll sell and buy new stuff once we get to the next town.
A bit busy on deadline this weekend so cant spend too much time going through my inventory and such at the moment.
Brother Grergof Varsk |
I'm good with fast forwarding.
Honestly there doesn't feel all that much left even to roleplay.
Darius Redgrave |
Darius is saving up for a bag of holding cos otherwise he just carries too much stuff.
Hey Spugs, how much are we divvying up between us buddy?
Think I could get a Bag of Holding in Lepidstadt?
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Sorry been busy taking care of a bunch of sick people today. Nothing major just the flu, but still been busy all day.
Hey since most of you are not using your cash can I borrow a bit which I'll pay back out of the 100PP we get at the university.
If I can borrow a bit I want to buy:
1) A Cold Iron Masterwork Scimitar (330 gp) - Possibly with the Sun of Sarenrae on the Pommel?
2) A Masterwork Buckler (155 gp)
3) Assuming the GM does not have a house rule that penalizes me for sleeping in it: A Masterwork Chain Shirt (250 GP)
4) 4 days worth of Rations (2 gp)
5) A large tent (40 GP) - I mean if we are traveling we might as well be reasonably comfortable..
Total: 777 gp * .8 = 621.6 GP.
Sell my scale armor (25), normal buckler (2.5), shortbow (15) and scimitar(7.5) = 50 gp back
total cost 621.6 GP - 50 = 571.6
With the 40 PP from reward = I have a total of 561.09GP. So can I borrow 20GP from the party with the understanding that I will pay it back when we get our fee for delivering the book?
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Oh and I also plan to replace the Wooden Holy symbol of Sarenrae that I wear with the Silver one from Father Charlatan's bundle. But of course Grergof is not selling the wooden holy symbol. Instead I want to hold onto it as well as the rest of the holy symbols from the bundle with the plan to bring each to the appropriate temple and have the symbols be used again by virtuous priests as the Gods intended.
Darius Redgrave |
Sure thing Grergof.
So how much does that leave us each? I suck at math.
All I need to save up for is a Bag of Holding and a Masterwork Cold Iron Mace. Oh and silver tipped crossbow bolts and a MW light Crossbow. Think I'll sell my Heavy Crossbow. Takes too long to load.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
From the stuff sold to Jorfa you have 809 gold as well as Spugnoir. Grergof get 9 gold from that.
With the 200pp you get in Lepidstadt from the Professors will you can buy all the things you want. For the bolts you might consider silver weapons blanch. As this is really good for ammunition.
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Why would I do such an evil thing like worsen the rules of sleeping in armor. I'm pretty sure the group sleeping is enough advantage if there is a random encounter at night.
Consider me paranoid, I've seen GMs multiple times strongly object to anyone routinely sleeping in any sort of metal armor. So while I didn't think it would happen, I figured I would make sure.
Stam Truthfinder |
I find the funny part about the sleeping in armor or just having to have a second set of armor is that full plate has leather armor under the steel plates. So really you shouldn't have to buy an extra suit of armor just count it as only wearing plain leather

Now if you haven't counted gold already please remember we also got:
166 GP each from the safe40 PP each for the reward.
So total you should have gotten a total of 809 + 166 + 400 = 1375 gp worth of coins from the adventure
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Yep, and I've spent all mine :)
Wow just realized I forgot my new sweet ring in the AC calc!

Next level I'm taking knowledge dungeoneering.
Also might not port much for the next day or so. Deadline day.
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Those things are nastiest when the look like lantern bobbing just ahead and them make you stumble into the water when you are chasing them in the dark
Foxy Quickpaw |
That was the plan, but I thought having the light still on while you get close would let you see the water. Until the light went out you sneaked there in darkness. Could have done that better though.
But if the roll I made for you would have been a little lower you'd have had exactly that experience.
Brother Grergof Varsk |
It feels odd to leave a wisp alone... but considering that the characters don't know what it was trying to do, and given how it developed, I think this makes sense.
Darius Redgrave |
Hey GM I'm enjoying this game. If you ever decide to run a Hell's Rebels game I totes want in. #justsayin. :)
Foxy Quickpaw |
I don't know if that would still be so much fun. I've played CC like three times already (at least the first two of them) and know the adventure. So it's easy to improvise things.
And doing a rebellion in a city I would need to know the entire city and who has which influences and where to do that somewhat good.
What's the reason you mention that AP? (I have the first three books due to the first humble bundle but didn't read them yet)
Darius Redgrave |
Damn they were in the Humbke Bundle. Crap I missed that.
No worries. It's probably the one AP I'm dying to play the most but it's not on my home game GM's list to play anytime soon. And I've missed most of the ones that have started up on the pbp boards.
Brother Grergof Varsk |
If you want to make us feel bad, the wisp should have led her here...
As for The Hells Rebels discussion. It's an interesting AP, (Note I've only read most of it not played it, considered running it but it wouldn't work for my players.) but it seems like you need serious role players and buyin from both the GM and players to bring the city to life. You really need to make the characters care about some of the NPCs to get the AP to work right.
By the way, I'm also very much loving this game. It's my favorite PbP game right now.
Darius Redgrave |
Most of my home game GM's are either not fans of the Pathfinder system, want to play their own campaigns and no AP's or are more roll players that roleplayer a if you know what I mean and so won't be able to really get into the roleplaying aspect that an AP like Hell's Rebels needs to make it the most fun.
I also think that being an almost completely urban AP it makes for some great character ideas to be used. As well at the whole Intrigue and rebellion against government etc. but man it's hard to get into one of those games on here. And I've used a few character ideas.
There's actually a pbp game of Hell's Rebels I started reading just for fun and it's looked really cool.
And yup this is also my fav pbp game. I'm in a couple and those ones are really really slow. One of them people almost post once a week never mind once a day.
Stam Truthfinder |
This is the fastest going PbP i am in and I am in a few, I like the pace that in the mornings I have a lot of posts to read up on and follow up on. I find it funny that people apply for games then either drop right away or get bored really fast.
