Boomer The Wolf |
Reflex +9 vs Blindness: 2d20 ⇒ (18, 13) = 31
Faldoc has Boomer move 5' to the southeast in order to attack the enemy to his south! Will he be out of the effect of the blindness thing there?
Bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 for Damage: 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 for Damage: 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17

Trip: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Faldoc Tisbane |
Where did you want to move to? Straight up? You're going to provoke at least twice.
The path of least resistance, yes. If its 2 AoOs so be it. As an archer I don't have much choice as I assume these guys have reach.
Faldoc Tisbane |
Faldoc will figure out that there's an invisible ceiling 30 feet up. If you go straight up you're still going to be threatened by apes. If you go southeast you'll be clear... For now.
Is Boomer going to take any actions?
Whatever he has to try and do. I've posted for Boomer. If any rolls are needed for concealment, saves, etc. you can roll them to save time.
DM Feral |
Unfortunately, Faldoc cannot take an AoO here because at the range the ape provoked (10 feet) it had total concealment.
Sand Arm AoO: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (5) + 24 = 29
Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Ape AoO: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
Damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 6) + 8 = 19
With the gift of flight from his celestial armor, Faldoc manages to remove himself from the crowded melee. On the other hand, Boomer holds his ground and takes revenge on the animated sand construct, tearing a chunk from its form.
Karu is up.
Karu the Bold Strider |
Reflex-Blind DC 20: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32
Reflex-Blind DC 20: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
Reflex-Damage DC 20: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 Evasion.
Karu stands stoutly in the face of the swirling sands, ignoring the girallons' attacks. "Too weak to face me yourself, Adril?" Karu yells to the supposed King.
As the combat starts, Karu sweeps his leg wide and assumes his traditional fighting stance.
Dragon Style: Starting at beginning of combat per Combat Style Master feat.
"I guess there is no option. I shall join you Atum." he assures the Osiriani as he darts under the tall man's leg as he calls down a holy vengeance on the creature.
Swift Action to Smite Evil on the giant.
Provoke from Giant; AC 36 due to charge. Can charge due to Dragon Style.
Unarmed Strike | Haste/Charge/Alter Self: 1d20 + 19 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 19 + 1 + 2 = 23 I'm noticing a pattern with this type of attack...
Damage: 1d10 + 2d6 + 35 ⇒ (1) + (1, 4) + 35 = 41 Non-lethal and affected by Faerie Fire for one round.
DM Feral |
I don't think that charge attack has ever worked out. Also, sorry Karu. =(
Trip AoO: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (4) + 30 = 34
As Karu charges in, the giant sweeps with his offhand for his ankles. The Bold Strider is sent sprawling to the ground. Before he can recover, the giant chops at the prone aasaimar.
Primary (vs prone): 1d20 + 26 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 26 + 4 = 45

The sand-fist changes targets, focusing on Kynrac instead with its brutal pummeling blows.

Atum and Markavious are up.
Kynrac |
Fort: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 Karu has passed his bad luck onto me!
By the way, did the giant provoke with his trip?
Atum Nakhti |

Ref: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 (not blind)

As for tracking points that get taken from stoneskin, does my own natural DR 5/evil reduce that? So that's 16 damage from the slashing sands but DR 5/evil reduces it to 11 damage, with 5 points taken from stoneskin and 6 damage to Atum if I'm understanding correctly the way multiple DRs work.
125 points of stoneskin, 140/146 hp.

Re: trip attack provoking: Karu might not have threatened him but if I'm not mistaken, Atum was threatening him:
+3 impact adamantine bec de corbin: 1d20 + 19 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 19 + 1 = 38
damage: 3d8 + 27 ⇒ (7, 6, 3) + 27 = 43
---
Atum takes a step forward and continues to swing at the main giant, hoping to take him down before Karu is hacked to pieces again. "Adril! You coward!" he bellows above the sand storm.
+3 impact adamantine bec de corbin: 1d20 + 19 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 19 + 1 = 32

And I think at least most of Atum is still in the cloud:
Ref: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Not sure if just one save was needed or two so here's another just in case:
Ref: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
DM Feral |
For DR you apply whichever one is more beneficial but you can only apply one per source of damage. If you're using the DR/evil you take 11 damage but you don't lose any stoneskin. If you're using the DR/adamantine you take 4 damage but your stoneskin is down 10 points.
Combat maneuvers only provoke from the person they're targeting. They're not like movement or spellcasting where it provokes from everyone.
Though most of his blows are turned aside by the giant's thick armor, one strikes deep bloodying the huge brute further.
@Atum: The sandstorm is actually the green circle so you're currently outside it.
The rust-colored girallons close on the party. The two charring under Kynrac's wall of fire pursue through the flames. One breathes another sandstorm out (over Faldoc and the invisible Markavious) while the other closes to claw at the incapacitated Kynrac. The two climbing over the wall of force air-climb down to menace the party.
Faldoc and Markavious need to make the DC 20 reflex save vs blind again.

The girallon's movement provokes from Atum. If he's got combat reflexes he can take one against each of them. Otherwise pick one to AoO.
Karu and Faldoc are up. Kynrac is stunned this turn.

No, he air walked to be adjacent to you. You can 5-foot step back but then your target would have total concealment.
Sucks being an archer right now, doesn't it? Guess I'll have to take my chances. I'll 5' step back after. Also, do I get an AoO due to ISS?

Faldoc Tisbane |
Yeah, it's 20% miss chance if you're adjacent. 50% if you're further than adjacent. On the plus side, if you step back he can't AoO you either.
OK, I would have done that to avoid AoOs, so only one attack and the AoO can hit.
DM Feral |
Sorry, there's no AoO. ISS let's you threaten 10' but enemies have total concealment at 10' so AoOs aren't possible.
Despite the stinging sands obscuring his vision, Faldoc nails the nearest girallon with an arrow. Boomer savagely snaps at the one menacing Kynrac but fails to get a hold of the beast.
Karu is up.
Faldoc Tisbane |
Bah, that's right. I recall that happened last round also. Just to confirm, the Blind-Fight feat doesn't help me here, does it? Its a resonant power from an ioun stone I have.
Faldoc Tisbane |
Blind-fight would help here but blind-fight doesn't work with ranged attacks at all. =(
That's what I was referencing. No worries! I have teammates that can do something about all this... right guys?
Karu the Bold Strider |
Karu is really enjoying that every single creature seems to love the Trip combat maneuver.
As the giant unexpectedly trips the Champion of Irori and thrashes him twice with his sword, the Bold Strider slams his fist into the ground, causing it to fissure. Karu winks at Atum and disappears under ground, leaving an aasimar-sized hole in the sand.
Karu is gone for a second before bursting from the ground on the other side of the creature ready to fight with the Living Monolith that is currently returning attacks. "Let's do this, Atum!"
Using Haste+Burrow Speed (Delving)+Withdraw Action to move under the sandy floor and into a flank position with Atum.
Karu the Bold Strider |
I'm on the ground, so I burrow under the giant and come out standing on the other side with my turn is what I'm envisioning into a flank with Atum.
Karu the Bold Strider |
So I have to stand up to go back down into the ground that I am currently laying on? Shrug, fine.
Karu boldly stands up so the giant can attack him once more then goes back underground to appear on the other side of the creature.
Karu the Bold Strider |
Karu will just withdraw under the sand and stay under the sand for now while still prone.
DM Feral |
That works too.
The giant growls in frustration as Karu escapes beneath the arena sand. With his prone target gone he switches to the Monolith that's wounded him twice.

No problem. One hits but Stoneskin negates the 9 damage.
Kynrac |
Kynrac blinks out of existance, only to reappear a few steps away, out of the girallon's reach (via Time Hop). He focuses on his spellcasting and bestows the party with a blessing of fervor on most of his companions.
Concentration DC 23 (casting defensively): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (15) + 25 = 40
Targets: Atum, Karu, Markavious and me. Unfortunately Faldoc and Boomer are too far.
Blessing of Fervor: Don't forget to pick one of the following bonuses each turn!
- Increase its speed by 30 feet.
- Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity. Gogogo Karu! Kick that giant's butt!
- Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
- Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
- Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.
It doesn't stack with haste! Pick a different or better bonus than those provided with haste.
Picking up the ability to stand up as a swift action, then standing up.
Kynrac |
Seriously?! Then allow me to retcon, since the point was to allow him and me to stand up without provoking. Besides, the Time Hop will allow me to be on my feet after the teleport (since standing up is a movement).
