Here's a run-down of the unchained rogue at d20pfsrd.com. Paizo will probably put unchained into the PRD sometime in the next few months (possibly after Gencon).
Graythan Fist |
Justified, the last loot accounting happened in January and we haven't come across anything since apart from the spoils we just got from Kogoloxen's Lair (boots of the winterlands, a robe of bones, a potion of mage armour, two thunderstones, glass sculpture worth 25 gp) and the few sundry items we took from the downed Cabanites in the bathhouse (2 scrolls of transmute mud to rock, 2 scrolls of stone shape, emerald earring worth 250gp).
In light of that, I suspect each of our gp totals to be accurate.
GM Fanguar |
So the idea is [Us + 6 Oquon swords (each with a wielder) + 6 Cabanite swords (each with a wielder) + Hoardcutter, Saberhark, Czarina & Lady Akanara (no wielders) + Kogoloxen, Mother of Rust Monsters] to all be in one big throwdown/combat/arena-like bruhaha?
That is the gist of it. It will be pure chaos. Not all of the delegates will have magic weapons, as you will have the ones you've captured. Larcos will recommend that you don't destroy the ones you have yet, so that you can use them as bait for the trap.
Oquons and Cabbanites will try to kill each other, kill you, kill the rust monster, kill Larcos, it will be fun times.
Win conditions would be all the thieves dead and the Kogoloxen alive so it can eat the swords. Keeping it alive is pretty much the most important part of the plan.

GM Fanguar wrote:So is this a quick update as though I was changing a class? You are allowing this even though it has not been official released?Someone could fit through the bars. It's a BIG rust monster. If you do a bait and chase, I'll probably run it as some kind of skill challenge. Just for fun.
Also, I've had a chance to look at the unchained class updates and would strongly recommend that Moira update to the unchained version of the rogue.
It's just a pure buff. You don't have to update, but I can't see why you wouldn't want to.
GM Fanguar |
Yup. You get the weapon finesse for free and get you dex bonus to damage for one type of finessible weapon. You can tweak your current feats if you want and change your rogue talents if you want.
I will say that the new rogue is designed to be a TWF, due to the way that its debuff works. As for talents a lot of them have been changed, minor/major magic are actually good now. Bleeding attack + Flensing strike is also pretty OP.
We can wait until after the fight, if you want, but updating now if fine.
Graythan Fist |
Graythan isn't designed to be all that huge a damage dealer, but his spells (few though they may be) that will likely help in this coming fracas are all shorter in range.
I'm thinking Graythan's best means of contributing is to cast shield of faith on Kogoloxen (meaning he'll have to be down in the pit and in the thick of things) and maybe try to take one or two goons out of commission with hold person.
That being said, if it'd be worse for anyone else to be at range and manning the device to release Kogoloxen, Graythan'll do that and just rely on his crossbow and his judgements to support the rest of the group.
Thoughts?

First, Sorry for my absence. I am on a trip with family and have had much less "me" time than anticipated. I'll be back Sunday.
Second, Justified needs to decide if he will dare wearing metal armor and using metal weapons. Likely not. I think his job will be to guard the door from the inside. But to decide I'd like to know more about Kogoloxen. From memory rust monsters are not much of a threat, except to metal. I'd think that if all the bandits started attacking it they might dispatch it quickly.
Also we are not trying to kill these rogues are we? the goal is to have the weapons destroyed. Once that is accomplished I suspect many of the two groups will no longer have a feud with the other group and might even thank us for freeing them from influence of the weapons. Right?
GM Fanguar |
The Kologaxian is an advanced rust monster, so it is a fair bit more durable than your default rust monster (it is also large). As for the thieves, the swords are the guild hierarchy, but most of the guild members are just criminals. Not all of the people attending the 'negotiation' are even carrying magical swords.
The swords prefer to be wielded by people who share their goals. Basically they only dominate when they have to. In the hypothetical situation where Justified doesn't disarm Moira when she gets dominated, Saberhawk would just have fled back to the guild and been handed off to a loyal member of the Oquons.

I am back from my trip. Lets move forward. Can wooden versions of our weapons be purchased that maybe do blunt damage and maybe a little less? And is Bladeguard available? If so Justified will buy one application for his glaive.
Justified* |
So for 40 gp or less that is a solution for anyone that needs to protect a weapon. One "pot" is 40 gold and will coat 1 two-handed weapon or 2 one-handed weapons. Justified shall have his glaive. :) This coating lasts 24 hours but is water soluble.
Graythan Fist |
Which one of us do we think should operate the mechanism to release our little kaiju? If that role is relegated to ranged support only, I might be best suited to it. I won't be able to use hold person to help, but I'll at least still be able to take potshots at some of the baddies.
What do we think?
Bronwenir |
Is it possible that Bron could have acquired the spell Longarm in the time we were preparing for this? I think we had multiple days to plan this, right?
Bronwenir |
Is it possible you could bot them until the end of the combat? My disarm tactic was partially predicated on the hope that one of the others could possible pick up the dropped weapon.
Justified* |
No real reason to kill. The goal is to destroy the weapons via the rust monster. Heck some of these folks might not even want to be in the guild and are being controlled by the weapons.
Defend yourself and the rust monster I say, and let the two sides fight as they will.

Since we were just told this is a last chance to purchase things and that we have a ship to outfit and a crew to hire I have to ask about loot. Per my character sheet I have 40 gold, 7 silver and 5 copper.
In addition to the reward for the intelligent weapon mission were we able to liberate any coin or other items from the rogues before we departed?
Leveling - Justified takes a level of Fighter.
He is fine with half +1 for hit points.
He gains +1 BAB but his saves do not increase.
He gains Weapon Training in Pole Arms (+1 to hit and Damage)
He gains a feat and takes Weapon Focus Glaive-Guisarme. Question - We did not start with any traits. Is the feat Additional Traits available?
Skill Points 6:
Knowledge Geography +1
Knowledge History +1
Linguistics +1
Perception +1
Profession Sailor +1
Survival +1
I need a recommendation on a language. Already speak Giant.
GM Fanguar |
Lavinia can hire crew for the voyage. Couple of thing though, the ship requires someone to be the captain, and make proff(sailor) checks and someone to be the navigator, and make know(geography)checks. If no one can make those checks someone will be hired to fill those roles.
Your ship is a caravel class sailing ship, it doesn't have any armaments or anything. You can trick it out if you so choose. You'll get to use it a fair bit.
Re languages: Abyssal will eventually be very useful. Draconic a bit in the short term, but is not really necessary (most things also speak common. We will eventually be heading to the Abyss so...
Anyways, last post for a bit. Have a good week all.
Graythan Fist |
Graythan'd be rolling flat d20's for either of those rolls, so he's right out for either job.
Who all's still with us? I see Moira snuck a post into the gameplay thread while I got distracted trying to post mine =)
Edit: Here's the loot we recovered since our last recounting (it's not much).
Kogloxian's Lair
boots of the winterlands (sells for 1,250gp // Moira)
robe of bones (sells for 1,200gp // to be sold)
potion of mage armor (sells for 25gp // ???)
thunderstones (2) (sells for a net 30gp // ???)
glass sculpture of gelatinous cube eating dwarves (sells for 25gp // to be sold)
If we sold all of it (including the boots), we'd have 2,530gp between us. That "us" seems like it might down to 3 as it seems Savarend is gone and we haven't heard from Bronwenir in a while either.
If we were splitting the whole haul 3 equal ways, we'd each get 843.3gp.
But since Moira has the boots, that leaves us with 1280 gp to work with.
If Moira takes the boots as her cut, Justified and I would get 640gp a piece, and if we were being big sticklers Moira would also owe each of us 203gp on top of that.
---
I'm not all that picky though. If Moira wants the boots, I'm happy to just split whatever coin is left over between those of us still in the game. If Moira doesn't want the boots (they don't sound very useful for a where we're going tbh), then it'd be just an even split of monies.

More math:
First lets add the reward we received for the last mission (a pearl of power (1st) and a horn of fog) and then lets sell it all on paper.
Previous total - 2530
Pearl of Power 2 - 500 sell price
Horn of Fog - 1000 sell price
New Total - 4030
And there are 4 of us now so split 4 ways is 1007.5.
I recommend we handle distribution of loot this way: Sell everything on paper as above then, if anyone wants one or more of the items they may "buy" it/them for the sell price. Conflicts where two or more want something can usually be worked out. If a character cannot afford something they can borrow from the party to get it and pay that back as soon as practical. I like this as its equitable and you get to buy a few things at half price.
A complicating mod to this that actually makes the party more powerful is to accumulate gold in the party instead of divvying it out and let the lowest equipment value person purchase a reasonably priced item from the party gold. That has the benefit of letting someone go ahead and get say a stat boost item instead of each of us getting 1000 gold.

Justified is +4 at Profession Sailor and +5 and Knowledge Geography. He can likely get us home but maybe we want to see about hiring someone a little better. Or maybe +5 is good enough for Geography? Maybe get some masterwork charts?
Justified* |
Yep. Or you could get if it he passes. I like it that you recognize right off that he might get better use from it than you. Usually that is how it will work and seldom will there be a conflict. :)

Spell recall does help. I picked this archetype in part because unlike the Kensai this one doesn't lose spell recall. If we need to extra gold to buy supplies and gear I'm willing to forgo the pearl.

You may be missing my point Bron. If you want the pearl you buy it for 500gp. Currently your share is 1007. So you can take 1007 gold or 507 and the pearl. Your call. If you do not take the pearl Graythan might as its a good deal at half price.
