male Human Wizard 3

Hey guys. Sorry for being late. Had RL stuff.

retired

Welcome, both of you! Glad to have the two of your aboard =)

male Human Wizard 3

Same to you :)

Eager to begin playing with you guys

Welcome Zanril and Savarend!

You will shortly be found by the rest of the PC's. You both are currently locked in cells and had been awaiting ransoming by the pirates. This morning you witnessed a boiling wave of green energy flash through the caverns and wash over you. Your minds were fill with thoughts of pain and violence, but they soon subsided leaving you weak and nauseous for a short while. The other prisoners were not so lucky and you witnessed them mutated into horrid bestial monstrosities. You witnessed them slaughter each other and gorge on the flesh of the slain. Fortunately, you both were alone in you cells and have only had to contend with the reaching arms of the transformed trying to grab you from adjacent cells.

So finish up any last minute tidying up of you characters and we'll join up shortly. As for background, I'm not really that picky, but you both have obviously been captured by pirates and should be inclined to join up with the rest of the party.

Yes, welcome to the group. I look forward to gaming with you.

Sounds delightfully gruesome.

I edited my profile and finished my story. Im good to go

Background Story:

Zanril lived in a small town. His parents were killed by Pirates, and he was brought up by an Oracle that taught him magic. However, in his adolescence he used these magics in ways irresponsible. He used them to cheat at card games and cheat in contests. For that his adopted parent, refused to teach him anymore magic. Zanril had a love for magic even if he was using it the wrong way. So he fled his home in search of a master to teach him.
He came across someone while wandering the streets of a city. It was a young woman named Aliaga. She was a traveling wizard, who mostly did entertainment magic. Zanril quickly fell for her, and soon magic was developing without components. Zanril quit cheating and showing off his magic at street corners to foolish victims, he turned his life around and learned powerful magic. Almost 4 months after they met, they were married. Soon he equalled his tutor, Aliaga.

Then one night Zanril had gotten drunk at a local tavern and his judgment slipped and he played a game of cards with a hooded man. He had cheated the man out of more money then he had ever in his work with cards. The man whispered to Zanril "You will regret this" and he stormed off. When Zanril came home, unsatisfied with his behavior and going to apologize to his wife. He opened the door, she was standing straight up, her body binded with a powerful aura. She could not move. Zanril tried night after night trying to dispel it, finally he moved her into their country home in the woods. He layed her carefully down, and summoned an invisible servant that would last until he gave the word to stop doing the duties of taking care of her.

One night while walking back to their home in the, he was mugged and beaten by strange men and a bag thrown over his head. He woke up in a cell abroad a ship...caged.

Savarend and Zanril's are in the game. Go, go, go!

Human Psychomancer

I wanted to give a heads up that I'll be traveling from Wednesday through Sunday (going to Gen Con) and my posting will be limited. I'll still try to check this game at least once a day, but will likely be posting from a phone when I do post.

Well, I am off again tomorrow for DragonCon and will not be back until Monday night. I'll have a laptop and should be abel to post most days but likely not more than once a day. Please bot me if you need to. Everyone have a good Labor Day weekend.

Hope DragonCon was a blast, Justified.

I'll be gone this coming weekend for a Con of my own, but it's a teeny tiny one that my old gaming group from college and I do once a year. I'll be leaving mid afternoon on Thursday and won't be back until Sunday night, though there's a good chance I'll wind up staying at the cabin an extra day.

And while I will have my tablet and cell phone, there's no cell reception or internet or anything at the mountain top cabin we'll be at, so I'll be offline for the duration of the trip.

Everyone having fun at various Cons, and I'm stuck at work. Bleh.

Can we DMPC to move the action along?

Any thoughts on recruiting a new arcane?

If I did, I would try to recruit from my other games, not have an open call for submissions.

Paladin of Baha-who had expressed interest in the game earlier here; might be worth dropping a PM to see if there's still interest? He's got a pretty big post count (3 pbp aliases with 450+ posts a piece), so I think he'd be more likely to stick around.

I give Greythan's recommendation a strong second. I have been in at least two games with this player and he is very solid. Good role player and builds sound characters that contribute. Plus, very reliable poster. We likely could not do better.

Sounds good to me.

I've reached out to Paladin of Baha. Hopefully he is still interested.

Hi there, Paladin here, still working on this character, but basically he's a dex-based elf magus with a bladed scarf.

Glad to see you're still interested, dude! Welcome to the team =)

Since Bronwenir is coming in at level 4 and the rest of us are still level 3, should be plan for a level up?

You can plan for a level, but not just yet. If you can cleared the lower levels first, you would have dinged by now. As is, there are two encounters left before you level up.

Question for everyone...

I initially built this character thinking it would be lots of fun. The forgemaster has all sorts of nifty abilities for weapons and armor, and his daily powers allow him to basically circumvent or manipulate any physical barriers.

But we're lacking healing. We still have some combat ahead of us, and I only have two castings of CLW left. I think some character surgery might be appropriate to shore up this gap. Thoughts?

retired

I don't know, Savarend, that seems like a pretty extreme step. I think if we can just manage to limp through the rest of the manor here we'll be ok. Afterward, we just need to stock up on heals with a wand or two of cure light wounds - wands which both of us could use.

I'll also pick up cure light moderate wounds as a known spell when we level. We should be totally good then and you can keep enjoying your sweet forgemasteryness. =)

M Human Lore Warden (Fighter 7): HP 70/70 AC: 19/13/16 F: +6 R: +5 W: +2 (3 vs fear), Per: +7 Init:+3)

I concur with Graythan. We play this game to have fun, and you have build a fun character with a lot of utility. I guess I had either forgotten or never new you did not channel. I did not mean to imply that you should channel.

You can spontaneously cast healing though, right? :)

Graythan, you might also consider picking up Stabalize if you ever have a chance to get a new zero level spell or trade one out. Its nice to stop bleeding from range with a standard. And since we do not have channels to me it makes that spell more important.

So lets get a couple wands and be good to go.

retired

At this stage I won't learn any new orisons and I won't be able to swap an old one out until level 5, so me having the opportunity to pick it up isn't immediate. We'll see if it's still a priority when level 5 shows up =)

Just need a wand or two for out of combat healing and really, the party would be better served with a tanky cleric than a healbot.

That being said, if you want to rebuild, that's fine with me.

Let's see how the next combat encounter or two work out. :)

the game has not been updated since Friday night. At leaf Graythan and Justified have said they are going down stairs to hunt intruders. I am unsure what the hold up is.

Canadian thanksgiving long weekend, family and exhausting small children are the hold up. Coupled with the need to make a substantial post.

Guys, can I get a quick update on Kaskus, the dwarven druid and the Ravens?

You didn't offend me as a player, Justified, but Graythan was put off by Justified's reaction. He feels a measure of personal guilt for not being quick enough, which has his emotions running high. The way Justified responded to Bron's claim that the dwarf was dead struck Graythan as rude, imperious, and crass. That's all. Just roleplaying it up!

Female Half Elf Rogue 7: HP 59/59 AC: 19/15/14 F: +4 R: +9 W: +4, Per: +9 Init:+4)

I don't think a heal check is necessary to determine life or death. ie body is missing an organ, no pulse, cold to the touch, rigor mortis, etc. Adventures are fully aware of the difference. Now to determine the cause of death then requires a Heal check.

As for the Jade Ravens, Moira, they were introduced waaaaay back here. They seem to be a mercenary band Lavinia hired when her brother first started making trouble.

To be truthful I was posting from my phone and did not understand the Bron had even checked at the time of my posting.

Justified will likely do things to cause offense, but usually I intend it when it happens. :) He can be somewhat bloodthirstily and unforgiving at times.

Fortunately, we were wrong and the dwarf lives! HEEE LIIIIIIIVEEEEEES!
