Hey everyone, I am out and about with my wife an son today. I will work on staying up with all the submissions and if possible I will make a list of all the submitted characters this far. Also I want to say thank you to everyone that has shown interest in this game! They have all been great submissions!
Nathaniel Artegal Boote |
If Nathaniel is selected, I hope to play him as utterly overwhelmed by the sight of Kobolds (as he has never seen them before).
Since his background places him growing up in a river town environment, I intend to have him reference the "Blackwater Bullywugs" often in comparison to the kobolds.
Nathaniel's brother made a name for himself by braving the lairs of the Blackwater Bullywugs.
One of the things I hope to role play will be Nathaniel's understanding that not all Bullywugs are necessarily evil, and this will lend him to (most likely incorrectly) assume the same is true of Kobolds. A lesson he will have to learn the hard way.
He is also a hopeless romantic, follows his heart, and tends to fall in love with any woman who shows him kindness, or strength.
I am working out a second trait to take now...hmmmm...
Edit - Oh, and recalculating his ability scores as they were calculated for another game.
GM Faelyn |
Okay, the list of submissions so far! I am doing this on my phone so if I missed anyone, it wasn't intentional! Just let me know and I will edit.
Treasurefox - Belladonna Goodbarrell - Halfling Rogue (Cutpurse)
Gypsy mischief - Peony Boffin - Halfling Ranger
Terquem - Nathaniel Boote - Halfling Paladin
Ira kroll - Brundara - Elven Witch
CampinCarl9127 - Rehvi - Elven Swashbuckler (Inspired Blade)
Tuyena - Amori Ren - Human Slayer
Zach W. - Damian Wilroth - Human Ranger (Freebooter)
Archus Madwand - Zirren Jenofone - Half-Elf Arcanist (Occultist)
Zirren Jenofone |
Sheet looks good. Interesting character, if he is selected I will likely have him and Zilka working together!
Thanks. Hope to get in.
Zirren would be picking Zilka's brain. He has interest in scholarly pursuits but there weren't any good libraries in Falcon's Hollow so he learned what he could then his pathfinder training focused more on the arcane to flesh out his innate understanding. Plus he likes languages and would like to learn orcish.
They make a funny pairing... chatty Arcanist and scholarly Bard (assumed from the archeologist archetype).

Nathaniel: You're forgetting to apply racial modifiers.
To get those stats, your buy would be:
STR 15 (7) -2 = 13
DEX 12 (2) +2 = 14
CON 12 (2) = 12
INT 12 (2) = 12
WIS 13 (3) = 13
CHA 12 (2) +2 = 14
That totals 18.
I would recommend lowering wisdom (Paladins get a good will save, plus CHA to all saves at level 2) to boost your strength. Is Nathaniel going to go mounted? A riding dog, pony, or wolf could carry him around pretty effectively, and your mount's scent and good perception could help mitigate low perception on the part of the character.
You can focus on strength and not Dex, and be mostly melee, or focus on Dex and less strength for ranged attacks, using the divine hunter archetype.
Strength focus:
STR 17 (13) -2 = 15 (raise to 16 at 4th level)
DEX 10 (0) +2 = 12
CON 14 (5) = 14
INT 12 (2) = 12
WIS 8 (-2) = 8
CHA 12 (2) +2 = 14
Dex focus:
STR 14 (5) -2 = 12
Dex 16 (10) +2 = 18
Con 12 (2) = 12
Int 12 (2) = 12
Wis 8 (-2) = 8
Cha 13 (3) +2 = 15
Dex focus uses the halfling attribute strengths more, but strength focus may be more the style you want, plus a mounted small character with a lance can be very effective.
Nathaniel Artegal Boote |
Thanks Zilka! I completely forgot about his racial modifiers.
Back to the drawing board
Edit - I sort of want to work towards a Breastplate (and take advantage of the +3 Dex to AC) and there is a feat chain that builds off Combat Reflexes I wanted to try because I see him as a defender, mostly, and with the 16 Chr I get a big +3 to all my saves at level 2, so I am going to try this
Str 13 (Need to be able to carry everything I have in mind and not be slowed down)
Dex 15 (going to go to 16 at level 4 if we get there)
Con 12, meh
Int 12, sort of see him as a knowledgeable chap, when it comes to gardening anyway
Wis 11 (want to be able to cast 1st level spells, eventually)
Chr 16, obviously
Nathaniel Artegal Boote |
Doh! Well, I don’t see anywhere else to put that point, other than to bump Intelligence to 13, which sort of keeps the whole concept of the character truer to what he is supposed to be like

Sarah is the oldest daugter of the Wyrmtooth family, like some Wyrmtooth she exhibits the Dragonic heritage of her Family. Growing up as a tomboyish girl in a small village, she was able to beat up older boys in the brawls she often started by being very defensive about her dragonic heritage.
As she grew older Sarah got into less fights, by virtute of being able to intimidate everyone who even thought about mentioning her Heritage(and pumling almoust every boy in town).
This talent got her the attention of a traveling Pathfinder Socienty Agend, who was send to take care of a Kobold Tribe which was causing trouble in the area. After she managed to scare part off a Kobold raiding party away the Agend asked for her help in finding a peacefull resolution. While the resolution involved "Pointed" Arguments, a sudden manifestation of dragonic heritage(Sarah's first Bloodrage) and scaring a Kobold Chief into uncontiousness, it was mostly peacefull.
Impressed by her potential the Agend recuted her into the Pathfinder Society. Her first mission led her to investigate rumors of ancient Azlanti ruins in Darkmoon Wood
Sarah is a fit young woman with short flaming red hair and red eyes. She is wearing a metal breastplate, which allows glimpses at fine red scales on the back of her hands and neck leading to a large red scaled tail.
Sarah is tomboyish, lacks patience and reacts violently to any jokes regarding her Heritage(call her "lizard girl" and you will likely lose some teath or get a chair to the face).
She is also brave, doesn't give up easily and is very loyal to those who earnd it.
Her dragonic heritage also includes a certain eye for treasures and shinys

@Nathaniel - Whenever I make a character with point buy I always use this website. They do the math on point buy for you.
Peony Boffin |
@Belladonna, assuming we're both selected I'd be happy to slowly realize that we're distant relatives over the course of the adventure, or even just refer to each other as cousin or some such out of fondness for one another, seems rightfully halflingy.
I appreciate the advice, GM! I'll be making that adjustment for sure, I sure hope her current lack of a detailed background isn't killing my chances. Here's a formal version of my scattered ideas.
Peony Boffin, aged 23 years, is the 3rd daughter of Mingo Magnus Boffin, an old codger of a halfling known across Gelfland (A rural valley in the north ruled by the Dwarven king Gelfbrick) as the only butcher with a wit sharper than his knives. As a third daughter of a nomadic butcher, even a somewhat famous one, she had little prospect of inheriting any of the family's limited wealth, and even less desire to marry. Her only true passions were smoking, dancing, fishing and archery. She reveled in the thrill of the hunt, embracing the sense of self and individuality that her clan so often seemed to deny her. After months of gentle hinting her father decided that if she was to not be married she might as well make something of herself, which was...essentially a blessing to strike out on her own. She would never have found herself in Falcon's Hallow if it were not for the legend of the silver stag, a great and elusive beast who's capture would make her name legendary in the mind's of her fellow hunters. She has followed the legends and seen the signs that she believes with lead her to her quarry.
Peony stands 3'5" with a mane of flowing auburn hair that she takes care to maintain, with a few beaded dreadlocks strewn about. She has a special weakness for jewelry and in turn wears a ring on every finger and a mob of pendants and chains about her neck.

** spoiler omitted **...
Looks good! I will make another updated list tomorrow evening before I close down recruitment!
For some reason I am drawing a blank on making a background. Alas, I must withdraw. Good luck to everyone!
Sorry to hear that, Vixen, but understandably.

GM Faelyn,
Falcons Hollow is an awesome sandbox. I have a long running game on these boards that is set in the Vale with Falcons Hollow as the epicenter. If you can check out Towns of the Inner Sea, it has some very good info on Falcons Hollow. There is also the PFS scenario Pallid Plague which takes place within Falcons Hollow, as well as the Modules.
Hit me up on PM if you need maps or statblocks. I have tons already made.
Good Luck man.

Thanks GM Niles! I will definitely keep that offer in mind and will check out the scenario. I picked up Towns about two weeks ago when I was in my planing phase. Awesome book! Thanks again for the tips and suggestions, I will have to swing by and check out your game.

Just a reminder everyone, Recruitment closes tonight at 9PM CST! So make sure you have made any changes/editions that are required before then. Any submissions that are not completed or not conforming to the creation rules will automatically be forfeited.
I am going to repost the submissions, pay attention to see if you have an "*" next to your name. If so, see the spoiler below as that means you need to make changes before the deadline! So far the list is as follows:
Treasurefox - Belladonna Goodbarrell - Halfling Rogue (Cutpurse)
Gypsy mischief - Peony Boffin - Halfling Ranger
Terquem - Nathaniel Boote - Halfling Paladin*
Ira kroll - Brundara - Elven Witch
CampinCarl9127 - Rehvi - Elven Swashbuckler (Inspired Blade)
Tuyena - Amori Ren - Human Slayer
Zach W. - Damian Wilroth - Human Ranger (Freebooter)*
Archus Madwand - Zirren Jenofone - Half-Elf Arcanist (Occultist)
Yokaiboy - Sarah Wyrmtooh - Human Bloodrager
Archus Madwand |
Interesting, not much in the way of characters with healing submitted. Brundara and Nathaniel are it (Zirren and others could make do with wands if they are found). I could dust off a druid, cleric, or oracle build I've got in hero lab .... maybe in time for the deadline.
GM Faelyn |
Excited to see who gets chosen. Do you still intend to take the weekend to decide Faelyn?
Actually I think I will have my decision posted tomorrow afternoon. We will say around 12 PM CST Saturday, Dec. 13th.
GM Faelyn |
It was a difficult decision to select only three PCs from all the submissions presented as they were all amazing characters. I just want to say thank you to everyone who expressed interest in my campaign and sorry that I could not select all you! That being said... the three PCs I chose in the end are the following:
- Belladonna Goodbarrell
- Nathaniel Boote
- Zirren Jenofone
Again, thank you all so very much and I'm sorry I could not select you all. I had thought long and hard about whether I would have enough time to devote to two parties, but unfortunately I do not. To those not-selected, if you would like me to contact you in the event we lose a PC, feel free to drop a line here and I will keep you in mind.
Belladonna, Nathaniel, and Zirren please report in at the discussion thread.
GM Faelyn |
Hello all,
I am looking for a replacement of a player we lost due to life catching up with him. Ideally I would like for someone to take over his PC, see here (Zirren Jenofone). If that does not interest anyone, then I would like to see some sort of arcane-focused character with a similar background to his, i.e. the "prodigal son returning" type situation. See my recruitment post for any additional information regarding character creation!
As far as party layout, we have a halfling rogue (cutpurse), a half-orc bard (archeologist), a human magus (bladebound I believe), a halfling paladin, and a human warpriest (sacred fist).
GM Faelyn |
I wouldn't mind taking him over.
Hey mathpro18, thank you for your interest, but one of my current players had contacted his friend below to take over the PC shortly after I posted this recruitment thread.
I've just been informed that you are looking to replace a lost PC. I would certainly be willing to help out.
But I'm off to class at the moment, so I'll check in later.
Tally ho!
Excellent. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the PC or if you want to make some changes to the character I have no qualms with that. I would just like the maintain the meat of Zirren's character and to keep him along the lines of an arcane character.
A Temp. Agent |
I have reviewed the client's character and find their work to be just fine. I am now reviewing the past posts. I should have finished either late tonight or tomorrow night.
GM Faelyn: As a note, after reading your initial recruitment thread I noted that Summoners are on the restricted list. As built Zirren's occultist abilities fall heavily within the camp of having Summon Monsters being called faster as a Standard action and lasting for minutes rather than rounds.
Was your problem with the Summoner the Eidelon or with the Summons ability? If it was with the Summons I will endeavor to change the basis of the character.

Welcome a board, A Temp. Agent. The issue with Summoners was more the Eidelon than anything else, and the crazy things one can do with them. Zirren asked me about the Occultist and I have no problems with it. I do ask that you not overload battles with a ton of summons though lol.
If you'd rather tweak the PC some, I have no problem with that at all. If you'd rather do a different archetype of the arcanist, that's okay. Or if you even would rather make him into a wizard or sorcerer I can work with that as well. And thank you for asking!
