Round 2, Group 2 Recap!

Ruhk, Zilka, and Caine assault the dragon almost simultaneously after its attack against Artegal. While Zilka's attack slices through empty air over the wyrm's head, Ruhk's axe Bethany cuts deep into its torso. The creature hardly has any time to even shriek in pain as Caine's pair of kicks blast into the wyrm's head, snapping its neck back with a disturbing pop! The tatzylwyrm drops limply to the ground, its body flailing and twitching for a moment before going still...

Combat over! Nicely done folks. What now?

Whiping Bethany sharply down to let most of the blood fly off and into the Grass, Ruhk then quickly wipes the rest off and puts the old girl away for now, then he turns around, kneels before Bella and puts a hand on her shoulder, leaning in so his forehead touches her.

"It's ok Bella, it's over now, and nobody was hurt.
We even tried to reason with it...uh...I think?"

Caine seemed a bit surprised at how easy that had been. He grunted and walked away to keep an eye on the area in case there was another one.

Back in action for two days, and I'm killing a dragon with my hands. Well, feet. Guess I haven't slipped as far as I thought.

He smiled at the banter going back and forth between the others. He was glad to see they were recovering their good spirits quickly.

Anyone a survivalist? The skin and teeth might be worth something.

Zirren looked down at the dead Tatzlwyrm. Its rather brutal and sudden death had surprised him, despite his words of warning to it. He inhaled deeply as a chill that only partly had to do with the unnatural cold clinging to him coursed through his spine.

"A brutal end to a brutal creature." he said coldly. "Let's get the moss and go."

While not trained in survival techniques, Ruhk does remember one thing he was told, and while chances are probably slim, he begins to look around the clearing for an anthill.

Belladonna doesn't see anymore enemies around the area. Ruhk looks about for an ant hill large enough for his purposes, but does not seem to find anything in the variety he's looking.

The elder miss looks easy enough to harvest, it is thick enough the a steady hand could either cut some free or simply break off some hunks.

With the danger removed, Zirren moves over to the moss, pulling out his dagger he begins cutting it out. Survival to gather some moss: 1d20 ⇒ 19

"Alright I've got the moss, now lets get a... move on"

Before he finished with his thought, he looked down at the Tatzlwyrm and then at the Elder tree with all of its offerings. Then with a strange feeling of inspiration, pulling out his dagger he walked over to the Tatzlwyrm and began cutting at it.
Survival to remove skin/ remove Talons: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Once he was finished with the creature, he set down his dagger and took one of the Talons. Rifling through his pack; he pulled out a crossbow bolt, some thread, an ink vial and writing utensil, and a sewing needle. He carved a small round hole into the top, then with careful precision he wrote the the word

Draconic:
Defender.
on it. Once it was dry, he pulled the thread through to make an talisman out of it.

Craft talisman: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Then with a exhalation of chilled breath he began to climb the tree to place the Talisman among the branches.

Caine leaned against the giant tree as the others made their offering. "We ready?" he said, a little impatient to get moving.

So, darkwood is worth a pretty penny. Have any of the branches fallen off or anything like that?

Zirren has no difficulty in removing the moss, which is then wrapped in a cloth and placed into his backpack. He and Belladonna work together in creating the talisman to honor the fallen dragon. As he begins to climb the massive tree, he suddenly spots three bodies hanging from a branch about fifteen feet above the ground. Most of the flesh appears to have been cleaned from the bodies; however, miraculously their gear appears mostly intact...

Knowledge: Local DC 15:
You recognize the clothing and gear as belonging to three woodsmen who went missing in the early summer...

Ruhk actually is able to locate an anthill of appropriate size near the northern edges of the clearing. I thought you wanted to clean the entire skeleton!

The skull is all Ruhk wants for a trophy.

Checking Bethany's sharpness, Ruhk lines up a strike and hacks the head from the wyrm's body.
Then He carefully deposits it in the anthill.

"That'll hold it, and I'll be back in a few days to collect it.
Right!"

"Aw, hells." Caine's face scrunched up. "We need to get them down and return them to town. We can't tell anyone where they were though. If the consortium ever finds this tree they'll chop it as fast as they can manage."

It takes the heroes a few moments to lower the bodies to the ground and they locate the following gear: two crossbows, two shortswords, A masterwork shortbow, one quiver of crossbow bolts, one quiver of arrows, a signet ring with the image of a flaming hawk (worth 5gp), 8 days worth of dried rations, and a coin pouch with 9gp12sp. Upon a more thorough search (which I'm assuming that you do) one of the bodies has a small, ivory statue carved in the likeness of a fly (worth 15gp).

Caine finds several deadfall branches around the clearing which look as if they could be shaped into staves, clubs, or possibly spear shafts... Other possibilities are up to the resourceful minds... He locates 4 branches which can be worked.

Once Zirren hangs the talisman in a spot he determines appropriate, a memorable sigh-like breeze drifts through the clearing. Suddenly the group hears a sort of cracking sound coming from the tree and a large piece of bark suddenly falls from the tree at the feet of the heroes... The bark looks to be the approximate shape and size of a buckler...

"Woah." Cain said, stepping back from the tree as the bark fell. He chuckled and went to pick it up, looking up at the tree. "I think it likes us."

He handed to the chunk of bark to Zirren. "You made the jewelry for it."

Darkwood bucklers have no armor check penalty and will be instantly masterwork when we finish crafting it. Ready made for enchanting.

Looking over the collected loot, Ruhk doesn't look very interested in anything, UNTIL he notices the ring.
"Oooh, nice! I'll hold on to that for now."

Snatching the ring quickly, he puts it on turning his hand over and admiring it.
"Niiiiiice...."

"And you know what else is nice? Tonight, we're eating dragon meat. Not something everyone can brag about.
Haha, probably taste horrible, but they say that means it's good for you."

;) I thoroughly believe in giving bonuses for excellent role playing and unique ideas. Also, despite how small Falcon's Hollow is, I plan to have someone available to you guys for enchanting items. That way if Zirren doesn't plan on going that route, you guys can still have access to customized items.

"Okay! This is officially gross!" exclaims Belladonna as she sees the bodies. With a loud squeal, she darts out of the way as the bark falls down in her direction.

"Well... I mean if the tree likes us... that's good. Lemme see if there's something here I can use."

Question: If Belladonna wields say a medium sized shortsword, is it treated as a small sized longsword?

Belladonna tries out various weapons from the pile. Most of them are too big for her (as is apparent when she starts waving the sword around before falling on her butt). The shortbow seems to be as big as she is, but Belladonna takes a closer look at the crossbows.

"Hey, maybe I asked this before, but I don't remember. How do you guys want to divide this stuff?"

Earlier

Just as Zirren finished hanging the talisman in the tree, he reached up to the next branch, as if suddenly intending to climb higher, but then his gaze fell across the way and he made a strangled cry of alarm as he almost let go of the tree as he saw the skeletons hanging there..

After calming down for a moment, the cracking noise of the tree made him thoroughly decided to abandon his plan of going any higher. He instead made his way to help lower down the bodies in the trees.

Now

Zirren looked at the piece of perfectly shaped bark that Caine had handed to him. He hefted the item in his hands and was amazed at how light it was, but also frowned.
"Thanks, but I don't think I'll be using this. It'll interfere with my casting, not much, but bending the weave is often a delicate art and I don't want to have my magic fail me at a critical juncture. Why don't you take it, Caine."

Unfotunately, the short sword's grip is made for human-sized hands. Bella can use it, but it isn't made for her. Hence the penalty.

Take the bow, Zilka. I think yo're the only one it is suitable for.

yeah it's not ideal, but I'd like her to have something a little more damaging than just her dagger. With some luck, a sneak attack with the sword could be a darn good strike.

"Oh! By the way, I have officially decided on a name for our foxy friend. His name is Lucky."
