Theodric de LaMontagne |
Azata succeeded Fri 4pm; Theo and Rogar now in last mindscape trying to convince Padrym; if successful Theo could use a lift by Azata out of this hole... please? :)
Rok - Celestial Dire Tiger |
Looking around Rok is unsure where to help, without a better option he prepares to strike the Ghost should it reappear.

bite; fatigued: 2d6 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 - 1 = 14
Theodric de LaMontagne |
[Free Action: Theodric comes out of the Padrym mindscape after his assist to Rogar; as he does so, he notices the bralani grabbing him by the armpits and whizzing him out of the hole!]
"Thank you, angel face!" says Theodric to the winged celestial being. "You've saved my life twice in this battle! Which god or goddess do you serve? I owe that deity's clergy a small donation I believe! or you perhaps: do you accept platinum payments?"
Rogar please let me know where the bralani deposits Theodric.
GM Erich |
The visions grow hazy and ill-defined.
"The present and future then, are at hand. It is time for me to let go. I reject her call. My spirit shall be at rest."
Hazier and hazier until even Padrym's spirit blends to the walls of the great hall.
"Do you hear me, Necromancer? At rest!" he echoes as the mindscape disintegrates, leaving Theo and Rogar at the facing each other at the bottom of the pit.
---------
The group rallies around the wall eyeing Tahari's potential exit points. Magor begins to summon another ally. Her form appears again for an instant as she attempts a final gambit, trying to merge with the dire tiger's form! The group reacts with a barrage of attacks and spells.
Need a DC 22 will save from Rok. Dhiara will give you insight if needed.

"Her shielding spell is now gone!" Sinuhotep shouts.
Amenepheous immediately blasts her with magic missiles.
Even during her instantaneous appearance, you could see all of the lights that once circled her head are now extinguished. The visions that once danced upon the walls have faded somewhat and now replay in staccato rhythm as her power starts to wane.

Qadathra |
Having heard just what he needed to, Qadathra again blasts Aryana with his black-crystal-fractal wand!
[dice=CL 5th wand of magic missile vs Aryana Tahari]3d4+3[/dice]
Vladek Odradek |
Vladek spins upright in mid-air, then works quickly to twist the future to Rok's favor!
Theodric de LaMontagne |
@GM Erich: is Tahari in the wall right now or can I be dropped on the other side of her to flank her with Dhiara?
Rogar dwarf |
Rogar uses his teleport school ability to shift to the surface.
"I heard that. Take THIS!"
He blasts the ghost with magic missile
mm: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 1, 1) + 5 = 17
err.she's in the wall. I'll move to the surface and ready
Rok - Celestial Dire Tiger |
will: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 +3 vs. poison, spells, and spell-like abilities, +2 vs. enchantments, +4 vs. fey and plant-targeted effects, +3 vs. death
As with everyone else, trying to figure out where she is. Vladek, unless that is an immediate action fortune will apply to next round?
Evad Alacar |
Evad finishes circling around and looks for the ghost's emergence from the wall.
Double move
Did I miss a short cut? Not sure how Theodric got there.
Theodric de LaMontagne |
You did miss something. Read up! :)
Vladek Odradek |
Vladek, unless that is an immediate action fortune will apply to next round?
It's not, so I guess so - then again, given the confusion, I might have wanted to try doing something different if that couldn't have possibly helped with your saving throw there, DM permitting. If that's the case and I could target her, I might have tried my Retribution Hex (Will DC 23) instead.
Theodric de LaMontagne |
GM Erich |
Tahari is still in the wall. She could sense someone (Rok) next to the wall and used a supernatural ability to attempt to possess an adjacent creature. Not an attack, per se, and no actual movement, but since the listed ability used the term "merge", I ruled that for a short amount of time, she would be visible outside the wall. Hence, all the party's readied actions went off.
Vladek Odradek |
Would that have included Qadathra's magic missile and (if you'd otherwise allow it) my Retribution Hex?
Evad Alacar |
Summary for Evad. Theodric was the Beast. Bralani was Angel. :)
I see it now!
Rok - Celestial Dire Tiger |
Rok again tries to attack her when she exposes herself.
bite; bless, fatigued, power attack: 1d20 + 12 + 1 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 12 + 1 - 1 - 2 = 30
bite; fatigued: 2d6 + 6 - 1 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 - 1 + 4 = 14
critical confirm; bless, fatigued, power attack: 1d20 + 12 + 1 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 12 + 1 - 1 - 2 = 17
bite; fatigued: 2d6 + 6 - 1 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 - 1 + 4 = 15
Theodric de LaMontagne |
Thanks for the clarification GM Erich. I will then have the bralani drop me east of Rok.
Theodric points to the ground east of Rok, "Thank you angel face, you can drop me right there! Oh? what's this?"
Theodric picks up the Ermias' weapon with his buckler hand. I wonder what would that do against Tahari...
Turning to the Pathfinders, he says, "Magor! take down that wall!"
Been meaning to say that for a while... lol
Magor Lavablood |
As Magor wraps up his summoning, a small air elemental appears and picks up the enchanted book, then looks to Magor for direction. For his part, the dwarf retrieves a scroll while keeping an eye out for Aryana Tahari. "Everybody, move back from the wall. Force her to move farther!"
Ready Move; Trigger Aryana appears.
The air elemental is going to move such that it keeps Tahari 10-20 ft. away, and thus in the sphere of silence, without getting close enough to attack the elemental.
Free 5-ft. step
Move Retrieve a scroll of heal
Ready Activate scroll (hold charge); Trigger Tahari appears
Free Tell the air elemental Tahari's location
Theodric de LaMontagne |
"Uh... there's holes everywhere Master Lavablood... she's using your containment against us!"
GM Erich |
The group moves into position and awaits her return. She does not disappoint and tries to inhabit Dhiara in the same way as before, but the Topaz Sage is having none of that this day. automatic save
The group returns the favor with a barrage of magic missiles, a well placed bite, and a witch's hex. Tahari retreats hastily into the wall.

Feel free to maneuver again, and ready an action for when she appears. Please suggest where you want the sages (and the silence book) placed. She basically has four directions she can go. East toward the dragon, into Magor's constructed chamber (where there is only pain), out to the west or up and out where Evad stands.
Theodric de LaMontagne |
Theodric didn't take his standard action last turn - after picking the paladin weapon he moves north and west as a standard
Qadathra |

Four options listed above become three as she's not going back into that deathtrap with all the magic missiles. So, 1d3 ⇒ 1, east it is. Gulp.
Aryana Tahari's spectral eyes widen as she emerges from the stone into Magor's outstretched arm. Divine power courses into her incorporeal form and she is now powerless to resist.
will save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
What remains of Tahari's twisted spirit explodes into the surroundings then coalesces into a fine point of inky darkness. It vibrates in space long enough for the rest of the group to quickly leap the pits or gather on the balcony above to watch her final terrifying moments.
A lingering but quiescent malevolence fills the area and places you all on edge again, but instead of threatening you, it surrounds the black stain of Tahari's soul. Its demeanor reminds you of a huge and vicious predator, writhing with snakes and horns.
Through the vengeful haze, you see a lone silver pendant fall from her collapsing soul nexus and bounce across the ground to Magor's feet. When it clears, the spirit known as Aryana Tahari is completely gone.
Sinuhotep moves quickly to scoop up the solid silver and obsidian charm. "This crystal... is the same stone that inspired the sage jewels millennia ago. It is the known as "Anamnesis" and her arcane link to it is now broken. That was the spirit of Ahriman, lord of the divs, that reclaimed her.
The sages celebrate as they gather the remaining jewels and convene to discuss. You overhear talk of reaffirming their commitments to the preservation of history and perhaps even searching for more sage jewels, if they exist. Even Torch takes a moment to clasp hands and exchange a quiet word with Amenopheus before vanishing when no one is looking.
"Do a quick search to make sure we haven't missed anything. But who knows how long the supports will stay intact." Amenopheus looks at the sheet of vellum Torch left with him. "Hmm. A spell to get us home. I wonder what else he had in that bag."
As if by design, the walls shake, reminding you of the location's imminent demise.
Vladek Odradek |
Smiling in the glorious moment, Vladek takes a moment to restore his valiant familiar before doing as Amenopheus bids...if only for old time's sake.
Healing Hex on Qadathra: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 8) + 10 = 21
Perception, automatic aid from Qadathra: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (15) + 20 = 35 additional +2 if we're no longer sickened
Magor Lavablood |
Magor walks around the room, putting a hand to the stone in some places, an ear in others. "We have an hour at most, before this place becomes our tomb. Let's heal up, and then make sure we haven't missed anything."
@Who needs how much healing? I should have enough spells leftover to spare wand charges.
Theodric de LaMontagne |
Could use a little 25 this way Master Lavablood!
Theodric briefly assist the search, quickly searching each room of the sanctum summarily and marking potential rooms of interest for others:
Perception to assist: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
He then proceeds to guard the tunnels, his searching skills being too awful to bother researching the books directly.. He keeps a close eye on the columns and other load-bearing structures while he guards, however.
Takes 10 in each of Knowledge Dungeoneering and Engineering for a 15 total.

Evad Alacar |
Thanks for the healing Magor. That really was quite extraordinary!
Evad helps the group search the complex, keeping an ever watchful eye.
Take 10 on Perception as we search for 31.
Rogar dwarf |
"Good dwarf I could too." he rubs his mustache "I wonder if there's anything else in this tomb"
Rogar uses his pearl of power to recall magic missile.

After healing substantially, the group searches the library (finding a few more tomes and scrolls of interest) and the the tunnels leading back to the tomb of the fallen paladin and dragon. The supports creak and fail spectacularly in some places, indicating that it is time to exit.
As the afternoon heat fades, the group emerges from below. The Jeweled Sages (sans Torch) are already waiting at the surface, in the shadows of the fallen and broken monolith where the day's adventure began.
Amenepheous unrolls Torch's scroll and asks wearily. "Are we ready to go?" The sages nod in agreement.
Evad Alacar |
Yes, the time has come. Evad says.
Anyone else expecting a cursed scroll from Torch...just have trouble trusting the guy.
Theodric de LaMontagne |
No subterfuge expected by Theodric - he's starting to really like the guy in fact! :)
Theodric puts a hand on Amenopheus' shoulder and nods in agreement. "I long to return home. Go ahead esteemed Sage."
