Solange D'Lassiter |
"How are we supposed to find the location of the Sky Key if it is buried, who knows where?"
I will recall one of my 2nd level spell slots, two of my 1st level spell slots and one use of moonlight bridge.
GM Erich |
"So first things first, how exactly do we find the Sky Key Vault?"
Kreighton flashes a weak smile at you all.
"Excellent question, of course. Yes, yes. Divine providence? I’m not really sure, as it’s made of steel and sky metals, but also buried approximately 30 feet beneath the earth, which shields it from most of our available divinations. I remain open to suggestions. You're all Pathfinders, dazzle me!”
“And how do we cut the tethers? That’s the lovely part: I’m not completely sure."
Another weak smile.
"Advanced magical theory was always more Aram’s bag. But then, it does seem to be a sort of magic, so anything you have to shut down magical effects should do the trick. And if it is a magical effect, it will certainly expire upon their deaths—tragic, certainly, but better than all of us dying here. Then again, these Harbinger spellcasters must be of some relative skill based on the spells they performed. You may be able to coax them into dismissing the effects themselves, though their temporal investitures seem to have made them a bit… erratic.”
He looks blankly at you all. "I'm ready to start when you are..." echoes from more than one copy of Kreighton in the plaza, offset by the most irritatingly short delay possible.
Solange D'Lassiter |
Divine Providence?
Solange speaks to her travelling companions.
"Do what you wish without me, but do not disturb me, perhaps I can reach Sarenrae and she can shed divine light on our situation."
With that she will begin a prophetic visionary ritual.
"Oh Dawnflower, mother of the sun, grant me the wisdom to know of my future. Would searching under this fountain bring us to the Sky Key we seek?"
Seelah O'Wydroe |
"So are you coming with us, so to speak? Speaking to Kreighton's image."Are you guiding us to the vault? doing a quick equipment check, Seelah states, I am definitely ready. But...Solange, do you want us to wait? How long will this ritual take?" Sir, is this a time sensitive thing? Are we still under the 3 hour clock?"
Amiri //Pregen |
"I've heard "kill those damn mages". I'm ready, lead the way, girls..and boss"
Kahel Stormbender |
After pointing up Kahel commented "I'd say it's time sensitive, unless you want to find out firsthand what happens when that lands."
Without knowing where the sky key was exactly digging down would be rather iffy. As such the heralds were probably their best bet to find it.
"Amiri, wait for Solange to finish. Even then, we'll need to question the heralds. They may know where the sky key is. Who knows, we might be able to convince them how poorly concieved their plan is."
Solange D'Lassiter |
Solange's ritual will take 10 minutes. Given that we only have 2 hours by Amelia's reckoning, feel free to move on without me for now.
GM Erich |
"I will be coming with you." Kreighton says, matter of factly. "Although I was hoping you could lead me to the Key."
Whether or not (you tell me) you wait for Solange, you begin to wander the city as the other pathfinder teams spread out as well.
It certainly looks like a typical village of the time, with houses and shops and inns, but as you explore, something surprising catches your eye. At various places around the city citizens surround other strange figures. Figures completely bathed in an unearthly green radiance, similar to the dome overhead. The local populace keeps their distance, but it seems as if the radiant people do not realize they are any different than the others. Specifically you can see at different locations:
A glowing woman, surrounded closely by citizens
A glowing man crouched on the ground, playing cards
A glowing man talking in a commanding voice, surrounded by citizens
A glowing woman screaming at citizens to bow before her
A glowing man breaking into shops, aided by coalesced flashes of lightning.
"I suppose we found our anchors." Kreighton says.
Feel free to approach any of the glowing figures, or help Kreighton search for the location of the buried Sky Key (be creative)
/Amelia Rose/ |
Amelia will follow Kreighton, and when they find the glowing people, she gives a cry of exclamation. Unsure what to do, she focuses on the one breaking into shops. "I don't know about the rest, but this one needs dealt with!"
Should the others agree, Amelia will begin casting Sleep on the hooligan
GM: Can we tell 1) do these anchors belong in this time, or are they from sometime else? 2) The ones speaking, are they speaking native tongues?
*wraith* |
" We should start with the one breaking into shops. The girl screaming that people should be worshipping her, we should lie to and tell her that there are groups of people who are saying that she's just a spoiled child, and that we can bring her to them. As for the man playing cards, we probably can get him to follow if we con him. I'm not sure of what to do with the last two, as the woman doesn't seem to be saying anything, and it's unclear what powers, if any, the man giving orders possesses."
Amiri //Pregen |
Before our party havs splitted up Amiri asks: "OK, Kahel, I'll guard Solly. Ameli, can you make some magic bond or any other magical link among us, so we will be able to communicate when our group spreads out." I mean the message spell or anything like this
Kahel Stormbender |
"I'll try reasoning with the card player. Perhaps he'll be more inclined towards peaceful resolution."
With that she approached the man playing cards. "Excuse me Sir, I gather you are one of the Fate's Heralds. Could you explain something to me? It is my understanding that using the artifact can't bring things or people from the past into our present. They crumble under the weight of time if you try. And while a god or goddess might survive the transition, the falling object in the sky I'm informed is the starstone. You know, the one that Aroden raised from the sea and became a god because of.
"Which makes me wonder, how exactly do you intend to pull Aroden into our time with this target location? Clearly he can't be a god yet if skyfall is currently happening. So even assuming he is currently alive, and within this dome of emerald light, he would be killed by the transition. Should he somehow survive the experience however, this would mean the god you are intent on saving wasn't around to raise the starstone, or anything else he ever did. Would this not defeat the purpose of your mission? And what if it's your mission that is the reason for the god's demise? Please, explain your reasoning to me. Because this whole thing feels like folly which risks dooming our time."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
[ooc]Holy smokes![ooc]
*wraith* |
"If we're splitting up, I'll get the guy breaking into shops. It's my specialty."
Wraith will climb up onto a rooftop and want to ambush him when he moves to a more secluded area.
Climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Once in a secluded area, Wraith will make herself known, hoping to scare the man.

GM Erich |
Three fronts, huh. This should be interesting.
Kahel moves over to the card playing man's location and starts to reason with him.
He barely notices your approach. He speaks instead toward the deck of cards splayed in front of him on the ground.
"Careful now, I am almost done. You mustn't interrupt, girl." He flips another card onto the ground in front him, stands up and spins around in disgust. "Well that isn't any good, is it?" and kicks dirt onto the card-pile. Then immediately drops to his knees and quickly and lovingly dusts the cards off. "Oh I'm sorry. Really I am! Forgive me!"
----------------------------------
Amiri and Solange remain to finish the ritual. Solange's mumblings start to grate on Amiri's tender sensibilities. She taps her foot restlessly.
-----------------------------------------
The rest of you follow Wraith, who silently tracks the looting man. When the time comes, she leaps down to startle him and his electric companions. They all notice her, and he takes a step back.
"What are you doing up there? Stay away from my treasures!"
You can see he is huddled up over a vast array of baubles and wares from the looted shops and stalls. The electric creatures swirl around him slowly.
Seelah O'Wydroe |
I really don't want to split the group and splitting into three groups is really crazy. Kahel, I think the card player can wait.
"Kahel, Amelia and Wraith are heading off in another direction and Amiri and Solange are not following, I think we should get back to the others." Seelah staying close enough to Kahel to get aid (40 feet or so) but also tries to keep the others in sight (if possible).
GM Erich |
Seelah, you can certainly follow Kahel at that distance. That would also keep you in visual contact with Amiri and Solange (although she in deeply entranced at the moment.) However, the others (including Kreighton) went off a different direction and have disappeared into the urban landscape.
/Amelia Rose/ |
GM, per my earlier post, if the rest of the party agreed to engage the thief, Amelia would have started by casting sleep on him. Also, can we tell if these people are locals or have been brought in from somewhere else?
Amiri //Pregen |
I hope she'll finish soon..
GM Erich |
Ok, missed that Amelia. We will do combat then.
Seelah reluctantly sticks with Kahel. The rest of you follow Wraith, who silently tracks the looting man. When the time comes, she leaps down to startle him and his electric companions. They now notice her, and he takes a step back.
"What are you doing up there? Stay away from my treasures!"
You can see he is huddled up over a vast array of baubles and wares from the looted shops and stalls. The electric creatures swirl around him slowly, but are surprised. Amelia tries to slumber the man...but he resists. Kreighton peers around the corner and whispers..."Oh my."
The green man angrily casts a spell. Now there are more of him.

If you decide to travel there, it will be a 300 foot trek, not in a straight line, so no running. It looks like you would arrive in Round 6 if you leave now.

Once his cards are gathered, the greenish tainted man cast a sideways glance at Kahel. "Still here, girl? You enjoy the Harrow as much as I do, then? I tried to make it work, but you know how the world just finds a way to justify itself. Yeah, these cards are just too honest today. Death and destruction, murder and pain. That's the order they divine on this great day."
He slumps back down to a cross-legged sitting position, and starts to deal his cards again.
"Care to join me in a game of Towers, then? Take our minds off the day's events. Tell your pretty little bodyguard over there to join us." He gestures to Seelah in the distance.

"Kahel?"

The electrical creature spins in a wild arc and circles to flank Wraith. It connects hard with a powerful slam. Kreighton races up and touches Amelia. A protective surge of energy races through her body. The greenish hued man casts a spell with fury in his eyes and tries to touch Wraith with fingers that crackle with electric energy, but she nimbly dodges his attack. "I personally don't put much stock in the harrows. If the god of destiny can die and possibly invalidate his own prophesy, then putting my faith in divination of the future seems foolhardy. And if his prophesy isn't invalidated, then how it will come about is likely beyond mortal ken. Which is not to say divination is useless. And yet, how often does prophesy come about only because it was uttered in the first place and someone else heard and believed?
"In truth, I don't place my faith in the gods as a whole. Isn't it better to rely on your own wits and capabilities then on some being who may or may not even notice you exist? But that is neither here nor there. Can't you see how disastrous your leader's plan is? Even if it works, which is doubtful, you would be undoing our very history. Look around you, By Pharasma look up. Can you not see that we are witnessing Skyfall as it occurs?
"If you pull Aroden from this time and place into our time he will have never raised the starstone. Never have used it to become the god of fate. And without the starstone, how many gods of light would no longer exist? And without Aroden and the other mortals turned god and goddess, what will happen? Who will face the demon lords and dark gods? Even beyond that, what will happen to our time if skyfall occurs while the sky key is still active and attuned to this time period?
"Please, help me preserve our future. Give up this foolish mission and end your connection to the sky key before it's too late."
Amiri //Pregen |
WE've got an aid token. Don't hesitate to use it, assuming we are splitted!
GM Erich |
As Amiri mentioned, we now have an aid token to use. (Good timing, right?). If at least three of you agree on its use we will do it whenever. Here are the details of what it can be used for again.
Aid Another: A Pathfinder agent helps the PCs solve a puzzle, disable a trap, or accomplish some other task as if performing the aid another action for a PC.
Allied Offensive: A Pathfinder agent strikes a creature at the same time as the PC, increasing the damage dealt by one attack by 1d8 points. In addition, after the attack, anyone attacking the target is considered to be flanking it until the beginning of the attacker’s next turn.
Burst of Healing: A Pathfinder agent heals all of the PCs of 1d6 points of damage. Alternatively, in any subtier the agent can instead cast neutralize poison, remove curse, or remove disease with a caster level equal to the table’s APL (minimum 5).
Spellcasting Synergy: A Pathfinder agent casts a spell at the same time as the PC, increasing the save DC and caster level of the PC’s spell by 1.
Timely Inspiration: A Pathfinder agent provides the effects of a bard’s inspire courage bardic performance for 3 rounds. In Subtier 3–4, the competence bonus is +1.

The half-blooded Varisian begins to break down and looks away.
"I tell you what, one game a Towers with good ol' Binui Skostravalus, winner take all. You win, I help you stop this madness. I win, you walk away and let fate take its course? Game?"
Seelah O'Wydroe |
We'll never get over to Wraith and all. If you are willing take a shot at the game. I'll stay in case there is a twist.
Or i'll play if you rather.
GM Mars |
Pathfinders have found and uncovered the Sky Key Vault. It is there that the Sky Key—the Society’s ticket home—awaits. However, the dome of green energy remains strong, suggesting that too many Harbinger spellcasters are still anchoring the Society in this time period.
GMs, it is now possible to gain Vault successes. Map is also updated.

With a flourish, Seelah lays down a final card to complete a tower. Binui laughs and tosses his remaining cards. "Well, that didn't end well for me, then."
He stands up, takes a long look at the approaching meteor, and begins to weep.
"I'd hoped to prove my worth as a true Varisian by mastering the visions of the Harrow. Who was I kidding though? My clumsy attempts never brought insight, only jeers. I swore my talents were genuine, you know, just stymied by some cosmic injustice, so I sought a way to restore prophecy to the world and become a legend to all the pure-blood Varisians who laughed at him growing up. So here I stand, bested by a girl who wouldn't know a Harrow deck from a tavern menu. Fair's fair, my life is a joke, good luck to you lasses, you'll need it."
With that, he disappears in an oily burst of green smoke.
Amiri //Pregen |
So Kyra doesn't know that Sky Vault is found and uncovered, too?)
" Solange our fellow Pathfinders have already found Sky Vault! But our friends are in trouble! We have a little time! Let's move!"
She then rushes towads sounds of combat.
Seelah O'Wydroe |
"Life is never a joke. I hope that man realizes that. Cards aren't the answer. Friends are! Now lets get back to ours." Seelah starts back to Amiri and Solange. Hopefully with Kahel.

Solange awakens with a start. She mutters under her breath... "It's here, start digging."
A loud cheer erupts from the gathered Pathfinders and several of them begin weaving powerful magic to thrust into the earth and move the ground.
"The green dome is still strong, I fear we must still weaken it by confronting more of these spellcasters." Kyra shouts over the crowd.
You can stay here and await the entrance to the Sky Key Vault or take 5 turns to reach the battle with Wraith and Amelia, or pursue another of the greenish spellcasters holding you all hostage in this time.
