Beneath Brokenhelm Hill and the weathered walls of Thornkeep lies an ancient maze of magic and madness. Over the centuries, adventurers have found their way into these twisting passages and magnificent chambers, only to discover that the fading magic of the ancient Azlanti still lingers here. The people of Thornkeep call this dungeon the Halls Under the Hill, but those heroes who have dared its depths know this place by a different: the Accursed Halls.
Although much of the Accursed Halls was overrun by goblins and the undead remnants of recent explorers, the third level of the dungeon remains largely untouched. Vast rewards await those who can overcome the dungeon's hazards, but the cowardly or incompetent can look forward to only a swift death-or worse.
Go ahead and introduce yourselves and get ready to head in! There is a staircase heading down to the third level; let me know when you are ready to descend!

Roscoe pats his lion mount affectionately as he introduces George.

"Howdy Roscoe!", smiles the tall Varisian man. "Dat lil fella looks mighty big fer ya, hope 'Roi Georges' dun get too hungry!"
"I prefer to just go by 'Havoc', if you dun mind.", the man leaning on a staff and withdrawing a deck of cards with evocative imagery. "I'm just a gambler and wannabe fortune teller, hoping to find coin and tale to share... and some company if the cards point that direction."
Before arriving, purchasing a cloak of resistance +1, some darts, and back up harrow cards. Total cost of 1,102 gold

Krux Crushtooth |
"Good day handsome gentlemen and beautiful ladies. My name is Krux Crushtooth. How can I be of service?"
Krux smiles and speaks in a high pitch, yet soft tone. The half-elf wears shiny mithril armor, buckler and wields a matching cestus. Krux bows deeply whipping long blonde hair around a slender frame that accentuate almond-shaped emerald eyes. At first glance, it is difficult to determine the half-elf's gender.
"I am born from fey heritage and have a knack for minor charms. I took the surname of my dear half-orc foster father if you are curious...Very nice to meet all of you, especially you good sir. My fortune looks brighter than ever."
The half-elf gives Havoc a subtle playful wink. Krux is a flirt to men and women alike.
'Havoc' Nareth |
"Crushtooth? Quite a violent moniker for a half-elf, ain't it?" The answer does pique the gambler's interest, though. "No I reckin' there a good story there." Upon Krux's wink, Havoc smiles and shakes his head. "There ain't nothin' wrong with your pref'rences, but I prefer the curves of a lady after a hard day's work, if ya catch my drift."

The narrow staircase ends in a short corridor leading to a large chamber, the center of which is dominated by a pool of stagnant water. An oily sheen covers most of pool, causing it to reflect a multitude of colors onto the walls and ceiling. The only light in this room emanates from a faintly glowing orb attached to the ceiling, and an acrid stench wafts heavily in the air. There is a simple wooden door in the eastern wall, and a set of ornate stone double doors to the south flanked by a pair of sandstone statues.

Sorry for the lack of posting. I've been having trouble getting into character since I haven't played Neph in such a long time. Plus I'm getting over a cold so that didn't make things any easier.
Also in the intro post you said the 3rd level of the dungeon, isn't this the 2nd?
Pre stairs - Neph will cast light on his holy symbol of Desna.
Steping to the side Neph readies his sword to attack anything hostile that gets within range. Something approaches from the pool. He whispers to the others. Raising his voice he calls to the creature in or on the pool, To the creature that comes, please show yourself! We are explorers and do no seek a fight if one can be avoided!

@Neph: as Havok said, Part I of Thornkeep is two dungeon levels, so this is technically the third lowest even though it's Part II of the book.
The oily film on the water turns out to be more than it seemed as a terrible pseudopod lashes out!
As the ooze tries to slam into Roscoe, three of the party members leap into action and hack away at the creature! All hit. Not subject to criticals unfortunately.
slam on Roscoe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

constrict damage if grappled: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
acid damage if grappled: 1d6 ⇒ 2
For those who haven't played with me before, it's easier for me to just roll the attack and damage (and everything else) at once rather than roll an attack, hit preview, check your AC, roll damage, etc. If the attack roll doesn't hit just ignore everything below it.
