Yes, most of a day or even multiple days if you guys wanted to rest on the way.
Fendahl Silvermane |
"Hrrmm. I do not like hidden doors behind us. Shall we check it first before continuing? Where is it exactly?
Fendahl will keep Kirrah outside for the moment and moves to investigate the wall where Hawkwren points out the secret door.
EndlessForms |
Oh sorry, didn't see that you played that card. Lol, and it would have helped:
The Waxworks: +2 Perception and Survival while in this location.
Hawk leads the way through the secret door, which leads to a short hall. Two doors lead east and you eventually spot another secret door to the west.
Fendahl Silvermane |
Fendahl looks down the new hallway.
"More paths to the unknown inhabitants of this place . "
He will cast barkskin on self and Kirrah
Fendahl Silvermane |
Fendahl nods at Maldoc
"Hrrmm, yes. Very strange is true . The sooner we finish this, the better "
Fendahl will push forward down the hall.
EndlessForms |
The first door in the hall leads to an empty room. The second door leads to another small room containing a pair of not-fully distinguished (perhaps rejected) wax statues. That room contains another door to the north.
Maldoc Tisbane |
Let's try that door. Might as well do it now. Before stepping inside Maldoc will cast Detect Magic since he knows how wierd this whole place is.
EndlessForms |
Maldoc steps into the room and suddenly from out of the wax statue shoots a jet of scalding steam!
fire damage: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
DC 20 Ref for half
He is able to get past the statues though and finds another hallway with another two doors, one obvious and one secret.
Tolgarov |
Following his comrades Tolgarov cast a detect magic in the room with the creepy wax statues while looking around.
Perception: 1d20 + 20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 20 + 2 - 1 = 29
Ace of the Flesh Puppets |
Ace maintains his 40' buffer from the group, still feeling a bit of frostbite in his fingers. He clenches his fist while he rests his other against his guitar that is strapped around his shoulder. "Need any aid?"
Maldoc Tisbane |
Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 Fine time for that roll.
Damn this place! If its magic, I don't see it. If its a trap, I can't find it. I tire of all this nonsense!
Looking at the two choices, Maldoc moves to the obvious door and uses SDOP and waiting for the others to join him before thinking of opening it. I can't wait to see what's inside.
Fendahl Silvermane |
Seeing the blast of fire, Fendahl casts resist energy on himself and follows Maldoc to the doors.
"Hrrmm, take care Maldoc, you dodged that nimbly enough, but take no more chances lest luck runs dry"
Kirrah does not like the tight quarters and will not squeeze until and unless the rest of the party proceeds her.
EndlessForms |
Yet another small empty room!
The secret door leads to a room with more misshapen statues. Aware of what happened to Maldoc last time, you can easily pinpoint the pressure plate covering the floor of this room.
Fendahl Silvermane |
Fendahl will enter the room and check the room and statues.
"Hrrmm, another. Watch your step.
perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Fendahl Silvermane |
"Hrrmm. It seems like the visible doors lead to more of these wax statues. So far the secret doors lead to more secret doors. So are we searching for statues or secrets? I thought a weaver. . "
EndlessForms |
Are you going to disable the trap first? You made the Perception to be aware that the floor is rigged as a pressure plate but haven't done anything about the trap yet.
Tolgarov |
no abilities to disable the trap
Tolgarov wait for his comrades to do something with the trap.
Hawkwren Agricola |
I wondered if people were stepping over or it needed disabled.
Hawk puts up a hand to stop Fen and Maldoc. "Let me try to disable that trap." Getting out his tools, he sets to work on the plate.
Disable T10: 10 + 22 = 32
EndlessForms |
Hawk is easily able to disable the pressure plate so that the party can pass through more easily. You continue to find more secret doors and winding, confusing corridors, some with more trapped statues in them, that circle the whole building.
The only room that differs from this mold is the southwestern room:
Poorly maintained furniture crowds this dusty, unfinished space. Two beds, one covered in priceless silks hopelessly stained in blood and filth, occupy most of the western side while a wardrobe and tool bench fill the remainder.
Tolgarov |
Tolgarov cast detect magic in the room to be able to see if anything is magical in it or to interact with an illusion.
Tolgarov is under see invisibility
EndlessForms |
Fendahl and Tolgarov work together to spot a hidden lockbox in the room, which contains several magical items. Hawk is able to pick the lock and reveal the contents: 31 pp, 104 gp, six palis lazuli stones worth 120 gp each, three potions of cure serious wounds, and a set of marvelous pigments.
Ace of the Flesh Puppets |
"Nice find!" Ace comments from well behind the group.
"I wonder where this Weaver is..." Ace wonders aloud as he moves the group along.
Fendahl Silvermane |
"Aye, someone has a stash here, but is the Weaver at home or gone missing?
Fendahl will keep moving forward, looking for more of the hidden traps or doors as he goes.
perc: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Tolgarov |
May be is long gone, but his ennemies too afraid to come in his castle never check ? suggest Tolgarov before adding no other hidden door or passages ?
"Fletch" |
Fletch looks around outside for signs or tracks that may indicate where the Weaver is.
Survival: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32 +4 if in Forest terrain.

Romulus's Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 Romulus has Scent.
EndlessForms |
Pssstt. . . check the map. Big double doors you guys haven't checked yet. Ready to go in?
Fendahl Silvermane |
After continuing the fruitless searchm, Fendahl will loop back and go get Kirrah.
"Hrrmm, seems like this large set of doors will hold our secluded weaver. Shall we proceed?"
Ready.
EndlessForms |
Behind the large double doors there are noxious fumes emanating from four enormous vats of molten wax. Tools and half-finished mannequins crowd the floor and hang from the ceiling, while tables hold squirming, undulating worms the size of a man's arm.
Marzalee the Weaver, an enormous, sentient ant queen works here birthing her bizarre grubs, which she dips into the wax vats and sculpts into deformed, half-witted storykin. "Kidnappers!" she shouts when you open the doors. "You've come to steal my babies!" With a snap three of the wax vats animate into vaguely humanoid shapes. A female dwarf sitting off to the side leaps up from a workbench. "Wait! Please! Let's try to be reasonable!" Marzalee does not seem to be heeding the dwarf's advice though.

Ace of the Flesh Puppets |
"Can't we be reasonable? We don't want your babies!" yells Ace from the back.

Queen Mother: Marzalee's weaving caress ability ceases to function, leaving her unable to cure her animated wax gobs.
The dwarf is not made of brass but looks like a caretaker of the ant queen and her children.
The ant queen pauses but still seems crazed by the thought that you might be stealing her grubs. "Thieves!" The dwarf shouts back, "Please, listen!" To you she shouts, "You must understand, it's not your fault! They steal her children! Calm her down!"
Initiative:
1. Maldoc and Ace
2. Marzalee and wax golems
3. Fendahl, Fletch, Romulus, Hawk, Kirrah, and Tolgarov
Maldoc is up!
Fendahl Silvermane |
Hrrmm, good call, Master Hawkwren. I hope you are correct. This conversation is starting to unravel."
EndlessForms |
The Midwife: Molly (the dwarf) grants a +10 circumstance bonus to Diplomacy checks to calm Marzalee. I will apply that retroactively to Ace's check.
Ace's words, along with the dwarf's pleading, cause the ant queen to hesitate for a few seconds. With a wave she halts her wax monsters. She gruffly adds, "I apologize for the misunderstanding. I have been a bit paranoid of late. Who are you and what do you want with me?"
Tolgarov |
Tolgarov moved to approach the queen, he himself look like one of the was statue.
We are sorry for intruding your majesty, but we need your assistance to free one of our friend. We need to find the Token of each "conspirator".
I'm sure we could find an arrangement between us.
Tolgarov's merchant abitus came back, his smile as wide as his pockets where closed.

Molly the dwarf heaves a sigh of relief as Marzalee responds, "Oh, that is quite the deal you wish to make. But I will turn over my token the Busy Hands if you can slay either the Ticktock Man, who steals my grubs, or the Nightpeddler, two whom he sells them; I wish to personally resculpt one or both of them slowly and excruciatingly."
Hearing that you have already dispatched of the Nightpeddler, Marzalee grows quite happy. "Oh really! Well then! I believe I owe you a debt of gratitude already. I shall take much pleasure in resculpting that fiend. The process will surely be as painful as possible for the monster. Here, you may have my token."
She hands you a bracelet, which has a diamond inside it worth 1200 gp that also functions as her token.
You still have to visit the Ticktock Man at the Smith's Caldera and the Barrow King at Demon's Fen. Which would you like to do first?
Fendahl Silvermane |
"Our thanks your majesty. Nevertheless, we will visit this thief named the Ticktockman ."
Tolgarov |
As we will visit the Ticktockman, could you talk to us about him ? What he looks like ... ?
asked Tolgarov
EndlessForms |
"The Ticktock Man makes his home at the Smith's Caldera, this Realm's repository of innovation to be sure. Pumps maintain the temperature and cyclopean clockwork mechanisms move the realm's sun, moon, and stars. Without Sonnorae's insight the climate can be unpredictable, as is the cycle of day, night, and season."
"The Ticktock Man steals my grubs and uses them for components in some of the machinery. Lousy thief. And he looks like it too, keeping cloaked and always sneaking about."
"Fletch" |
"Aye," said Fletch. "We'll have a word with him, then. What can you tell us of his powers? His weaknesses? Aught that might be used in our favor?"
EndlessForms |
"He's a secretive one and in case you haven't noticed, we aren't exactly on good terms. I don't know much more about him except that he's a sneaking thief who steals my grubs."
