He rummages through his pack. "Ennoia, did you offer it some food? I can offer it a day's worth of rations." Dalton chucks the rations over by where Ennoia's landed.

The otyugh snatches the food out of the air as Ennoia tosses it up. "Mmm! You give Tog good food. Good food, no harm. Easy-peas. Easy-peace. Easy-peasy." The otyugh smiles as much as it can for such a strange and disgusting creature.

The small opening ahead exposes a precarious-looking crawlway sitting a few feet above where the waterline is marked. The shaft leads into the darkness beyond.

Again everyone but Ennoia notes that the passage is trapped! There is a pressure plate a few feet into the tunnel and a tube sticking out nearby looks like it would release something nasty. There is, however, a small socket next to the tunnel. It looks as though a small plate might fit in it....

Shel puts the metal plate into the slot and nothing appears to happen at first but when you move closer, you see that the pressure plate has been locked in position and you are able to crawl through the tunnel without issue.

Ahead, the qanat tunnel opens into another well shaft. Propped against the side of shaft is a crudely lashed ladder of dried planks.

Mimics are thought to be the result of an alchemist's attempt to grant life to an inanimate object through the application of an eldritch reagent, the recipe for which is long lost. Over time, these strange but clever creatures have learned the ability to transform themselves into simulacra of man-made objects, particularly in locations that have infrequent traffic by small numbers of creatures, thus increasing their odds of successfully attacking their victims.

They are immune to acid damage. Their adhesive automatically grapples victims when the mimic lands a hit. Strong alcohol or universal solvent dissolves the adhesive, but the mimic can still grapple normally. Attacking the mimic with weapons risks getting the weapon stuck to the mimic.

You survey the refuse and reveal a broken pesh pipe, a wineskin containing a milky substance, and several empty cloth pouches containing a salty powder.

After the Perception:

DC 20 Craft (alchemy):
The milky substance is identifiable as pesh in its unrefined state and the salty powder can be identified as nagri, a bitter salt used in the pesh refinement process.
