"The Council sends rats to steal from me? You think your flimsy piece of paper will hold up in the courts?" He dismisses you with a gesture. "No, you vermin have become too bold."

He is preparing to depart but you can try to pick at him for information on his involvement, the smuggling operation, his plans against the Society, or anything else. Skill checks!

Baz moves forward, getting in front of theam and staring him in the eye. "What is this drivel your spouting? You think you can fool us? We are well aware if what your up to. It'd be best if you just relieved yourself of your secrets before you make any more of a fool yourself. I don't think you want your legacy to be known for getting the Consortium run out of town." Baz says with a snarl.

Sloan laughs and claims, "You have no proof!" although Baz can tell that he is nervous and when you present your findings about the smuggling operations and the stockpiling of explosives which likely indicates an attack on the Society, Sloan’s expression sours.

Sloan shakily mutters to himself while scratching at his hand. “Impossible…does it surprise you that one of your masked leaders dances to our tune? Did you truly think there was honor among thieves?”

Baz:
You know that he is lying about this last bit concerning a masked leader being a traitor. He is trying to provoke you into attacking him as the guards close in and trying to get you to spill your own secrets.

You have a last chance to press him for specific information.

"Your full of snake shit!" Baz hisses as he glowers at the man. "You are merely trying to provoke us and buy time for the city guards to arrive." Drawing his Smine, he runs a finger down the blade and stares at Sloan. "Too bad we've already made sure the guards will be slow in getting here." Clucking his tongue at the man, Baz says. "Besides, what we have on you, the guards will be arresting you after we inform them of what your up." Taking a steps closer, Baz looks down at the man. "Last chance Sloan. Tell us everything and we'll leave before the guard gets here, let you keep your dignity, and avoid having to make any incriminating explanations to the city guard or the Council."

"Fine. No masked leaders then but certainly plenty among your ranks whisper to us for one reason or another. So you know about our unwitting spies. What more can I say to that? You miscreants turn on each other so easily. When you feel an ally’s blade at your throat, remember I guided it there. And when your precious Manor goes up in flames, you can remember my part as well."

Sloan goes quiet as the city guard arrives. Sloan demands they arrest the Pathfinders. Luckily Kasadei arrives soon after with her own patrol loyal to the Council and a freshly signed order from them not to arrest you and absolve anything that has happened.

When you warn Kasadei about the arson plot against the Pathfinders, Kasadei immediately deploys patrols to stop the attack. Her guards secure the evidence and she demands Sloan’s arrest, but the Lord-Mayor’s guards block her. She pleads with them, but backs down to avoid bloodshed.

Sloan smiles and makes parting remarks. "A minor setback, but one I’ll remember, Pathfinders. Can you not see the futility of your efforts? A hundred more wheels are in motion. Your only virtue until now was you were too insignificant to squash."

---

Later that night you meet Lady Heidmarch in her library.

Lady Heidmarch informs you that the Society allies in the city are more resolute than ever, and that many of Sloan’s agents in the city are in hiding or in the custody of the city guard, under questioning for their connection to the thwarted attack.

She tells you that the lord-mayor has launched an investigation into Aspis activities and publicly fined Sloan himself; Aspis Consortium profits and influence in Magnimar should drop considerably, reducing Sloan’s stature in the Consortium.

And that wraps it up! Thanks everyone! Unfortunately you did not find sufficient pieces of evidence or do well enough on those skill checks at the end to earn the second Prestige Point but you still get full gold rewards. I will distribute the chronicles soon. Thanks for playing!

Thanks for running it EF. I am not sure if we had totals for rez and depetrify of our team but Victoria will pay her share.
