Wyconda Sunaki |
Readied actions can't be done out of combat, as stated previously.
Can't tell for sure with the wonky maps but will assume adjacent to enemy.
Wyconda swings a double handed attack against the mist trying to get at least some damage on the thing. Of course, that would mean actually connecting with his blade.

@Xukong: see above. You can not ready actions outside of combat. That sort of defeats the point of rolling initiative or the existence of surprise rounds, which is why I was giving you the option to do something different if you didn't want to keep those rolls, since they were premature anyways.
@Rogzul: sure, it looks like I had a typo in my dice roll. Now that it is right on top of you though I would think you wouldn't want to keep your crossbow attack though, since that would provoke an AoO for firing a ranged weapon in its threatened area.

As the creature disappears, a hidden panel in the altar falls open to reveal the icon Wulessa spoke of. Rather than gold, however, the mindscape's version is glass. Focusing on this discrepancy, you can make a Will save. Feel free to heal and whatnot first though.

Once again the glass panels on the walls begin to depict images, trying to communicate with you. You see an image of Wulessa’s face being drawn onto a scroll, rolled up and placed reverently inside the Monadistic Archive chest. You then see a montage of images of her life beside piles of coins, jewels, and other valuables, growing alongside her life experiences. Finally, the images form a nest of rodents rummaging in the walls of a well-ordered house.
At this point the statue on the wall comes to life and attacks!

Hearing that it is an illusion gives you a +4 on the Will save, yes. Still not enough for Xukong though.
Piety watches in disappointment as Natula is able to make it to the next room. So I think Piety is the only one not to catch up yet.
Xukong swings at the construct but to his mind it is still quite hard and his blow has no effect. Rogzul's attack flies wide.

Out of combat!
The glass portcullis leading out of this room is extremely fragile and you can force your way through easy enough. Down the hall one way you can return to the a room you had been in previously. Going down the hall the other way, however, you are again shifted to a different room away from the hall.
As the door that magically appears before you opens, a familiar bell tinkles overhead, letting Palhuna Murqual know that his shop has visitors once more. The setting has changed subtly since earlier; while the shop's layout remains the same, the wares previously displayed in cases and on the walls are missing. In their places are keys of all shapes, sizes, and construction.
After a few seconds the back curtains stir and Palhuna Murqual comes forth, smiling unctuously. You can tell that he is not quite right. His for flickers, almost imperceptibly, and he tends to "jump" from one location to another when not observed directly.
He does not speak but instead makes his intentions clear through pantomime. He informs you that he has the ability to let you peacefully exit the mindscape (producing a golden key and gesturing to a door that wasn't there a moment ago). In return, he wants you to give up on rescuing Wulessa Yuul (a scroll suddenly appears in Xukong's hand. Upon it is a clear drawing of Wulessa's face). He holds the key out, making a haughty "give me" gesture with his other hand.
Xukong |
Xukong stares at the scroll. At least one thought immediately comes to its mind....
The question is pretty obvious, isn't it: What happens if I erase the scroll?

No, there's something I need first.
Perception (look around the room): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Wyconda Sunaki |
Wyconda's eyes widen at Rogzul's thought. "And risk losing her to this place? We are only here because she brought us with her. We cannot guarantee we, or others, can make it back here to save her. No, my friend, that duty lies firmly on us, in the present. Though I assure you I dislike this place as much as you."
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Rogzul shakes his head,
Exactly, she brought us here, and if we don't make it out then the Pathfinder Society will never know what happened here.
He closes his eyes and sighs.
But I will not leave the rest of you if you want to save her.
Natula Icosagon Thako |
Natula steps between Xukong and Palhuna.
"How do we know that's the true exit key?" She says gesturing to the walls.
EndlessForms |
The question is pretty obvious, isn't it: What happens if I erase the scroll?
Nothing. The scroll is just a symbol, not actually magical or special in any way. It just signifies trading Wulessa for a way out.
At Natula's question, Murqual-or the image of him, at least-waves his hands and an image of the room where you performed the ritual appears, with your bodies still sitting patiently and quietly in a circle. This seems to be the creature's way of promising or ensuring that you will return safely if you take the deal.
Natula's willing of the switching of scrolls doesn't seem to have any immediate effect, nor does the creature seem concerned about her efforts; the key and paper are just symbols, after all.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Rog frowns, all day has been about bargaining. Orcs had bartering so much simpler, sharp ends and blood.
He shook his head and tried the human way out of the situation
What can we do for you that will make you free Wulessa?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Natula Icosagon Thako |
"Why do you even want her? I mean, she's not terribly bright."
EndlessForms |
Whatever is manifesting as the image of Murqual does not seem prepared to negotiate: the deal is that you hand over Wulessa in exchange for your own safe exit. It is quite apparent that not everyone is willing to agree to such an exchange though. Murqual exasperatedly throws his hands up, and both he and the door disappear.
The facsimile of Murqual’s shop shimmers like a heat mirage, transforming into the familiar meeting room in Farseer Tower. Familiar, at least, in shape. The furnishings are different, more resembling a grandmother’s cozy tea room than the stark, studious place where this journey began. Intricately brocaded settees and poufs clutter the room, while elaborate tapestries cover almost every inch of the walls. One of these, a floor-length
cerulean silk curtain, is embroidered with a portrait of Wulessa Yuul. Her arms are folded across her chest, and a look of distaste resides upon her face.
“When I first became Venture-Captain and took charge of Farseer Tower, this was how the place looked. The whole tower. My predecessor was more concerned with frippery and luxuries than with hard-won knowledge and diligence. If this becomes my final view of the tower, it might be the greatest indignity of all.”
“I think you are close to the end. I can feel the archivist pausing its work with me to face you directly. The shadows you fought before now were a reflexive response, like sweeping cobwebs from one’s face. Now I think you have its full attention. I don’t think it can appear directly. Its essence is split across all the archive’s scrolls, but whatever form it takes will have considerably more power than the things you’ve fought before now.”
Before you move on, she quickly offers to manifest one more potion for you if she can draw on enough power.
Xukong |
"Something to protect us from magic, I think."
Xukong |
Xukong's suggestion had been meant as something tentative for others to perhaps build on, but the issue having been pressed, Xukong racks its mind for the most powerful protective spells it's heard of.
