Milo Flamecursed |
That's alot of ghouls! Are there going to be any townsfolk left?
Is the barricade going to hold, or are they going to get through that in short order?
Milo has both doors lined up with a readied action to go as soon as ghouls show their faces in either doorway, either blasting a cone south (as depicted by Falcon) or 5' stepping and blasting a cone west (as depicted by the second AE template). His hope to get at least two, whichever way he goes.
Burning Hands, 15' cone,
Fire Damage: 4d4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 4) + 1 = 14 (DC 15 Reflex save for half)
EndlessForms |
The barricade will hold for a little while but they are going to start tearing at it on their turn.
Lia Galanodel |
Lia will wait for the ghouls to come into range before shooting at them.
Held action to fire
Shortbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
EndlessForms |
Milo is excited to burn something and readies to burn anything in range. Marcus shoots an arrow at one of the ghouls entering the building. Tomnus' acid hits the ground and Lia readies her bow against the onslaught. I will put Falcon on hold for now so I can update while I'm available.
The two ghouls in the building advance on the party and Lia lets her arrow fly but it misses the advancing creature. When they approach the doorway Milo lets out a burst of fire!
G1 Ref: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
G2 Ref: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
One of the ghouls falls to the ground, burnt to a crisp. (Ghouls 1 and 2 double moved.)
The two ghouls outside the building begin to tear away at the barricade.
Initiative:
1. Milo, Marcus, Falcon, Tomnus, and Lia
2. ghouls
Ghoul 1: 7 dmg
Ghoul 3:
Ghoul 4:
You guys are up!
Marcus McLaren |
"Nice going Milo". Marcus figures that Tomnus and Falcon can handle the ghoul coming into the room, and shoots at the same ghoul that he hit last time.
Ghoul 3; longbow;att;dmg: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 171d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Did I hit the ghoul last time? I hope that hitting AC 21 does. You don't say that I missed, but you don't say that I hit either and there is no damage on him in your summary.
EndlessForms |
Yes, you hit him and then he failed his save against Milo's fire so that one is gone. But you can hit Ghoul 1 still, so I assume that's what you want to do.
Marcus puts an arrow into the advancing ghoul!
Initiative:
1. Milo, Marcus, Falcon, Tomnus, and Lia
2. ghouls
Ghoul 1: 10 dmg
Ghoul 3:
Ghoul 4:
Milo, Falcon, Tomnus, and Lia are up!
Marcus McLaren |
Marcus figures that between Milo's burning hands, Falcon and Tomnus attacks, that Ghouls 1 & 2 will go down quickly so he shot at Ghoul 3 both times, trying to take one of them out before they go thru the barrier. It is in the dice description for both attack rolls. Sorry if I did not make that clear.
You need to remove any damage from Marcus on Ghoul 1 and apply it to Ghoul 3, please. So Ghoul 3 should have 11 points damage on it from my two arrows. Thanks
Falcon Dragorion |
Marcus, I don't think you could have taken a shot at ghoul 3 as the plan was barricading that pathway (no line of sight)
Falcon steps in after Milo uses his fire, taking a swing at a ghoul #1.
Attack ghoul #1 - Combat Expertise: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 - 1 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10
Critical Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 - 1 = 6
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
AC 17

No, I understood that but I redirected your attacks because you don't have line-of-sight two ghouls 3 and 4, as Falcon said. I believe you guys barricaded that door so it will take them some time to break through; they are still outside the building at this point.
Falcon easily slices through the ghoul.
Initiative:
1. Milo, Marcus, Falcon, Tomnus, and Lia
2. ghouls
Ghoul 3:
Ghoul 4:
Milo, Tomnus, and Lia may act before the ghouls break in from outside!
Lia Galanodel |
Lia prowls around the room, looking for anything that they might be able to use as an additional obstacle or hazard for the ghouls when they come in. Preferably something that can be lit on fire without harming the party.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Lia Galanodel |
In that case, feasibility of arranging various bucket-on-door type traps so that ghouls might be lit on alcoholic fire? I'm hoping that such can be arranged without endangering ourselves and Becher.
Milo Flamecursed |
Milo's glares at the barricaded door as if it too is the enemy.
"I can torch one more batch." He says scowling, after a slight hesitation, "But this one won't come quite so easy."
One hand goes to the amulet around his neck, as he moves to face the barricade.
"Not that its ever hard, neither." He adds in an angry mumble.
Can do one more burning hands if needed, but I have to use my arcane bonded object to call it up.... since Milo's out of spells now (other then cantrips and a couple spell-likes).
Assuming no one says otherwise, Milo will ready one last action to use his bonded object to cast a final burning hands on this next batch of ghouls once they become visible, 5' stepping to where I have him now as he does so.
Fire Damage: 4d4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 4) + 1 = 16 (DC 15 Reflex for half)

@Lia: if you have a source to light it, I will let you use a bucket of spirits or something as a make-shift alchemist's fire.

Ah, did not realize that. Thanks for the clarification.
Marcus nocks another arrow and waits for the ghouls to break thru barrier.
Lia Galanodel |
Lia will grab a bucket of the most potent alcohol she can find and hold it in preparation to throw it at the door, calling to Milo to be prepared to light it (and the ghouls) up.
Readied action to throw the alcohol at the ghouls under one of the following two conditions:
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 to hit the ghouls with alcohol
Fiery Alcohol Meets Face: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Flaming Alcohol Is Sticky: 1d6 ⇒ 3 on following round
Rolled damage for primary target, first one through. Splash target(s) take 1 damage in first round, no damage in second.
EndlessForms |
Lia prepares to soak the ghouls in alcohol as Milo readies himself against the inevitable ghoul onslaught, as does Tomnus.
The ghouls burst through the makeshift barricade! Lia throws her alcohol on the nearest ghoul and Milo lights them up!
Ghoul 3 Ref: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Ghoul 4 Ref: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
The combined efforts of Lia and Milo leave one of the ghouls in a pile of ashes. Tomnus flings an orb of acid at the other badly singed ghoul and it too falls to the ground.
Out of combat! Railford is saved!
Becher will confess that the deed has never been signed and is worthless without his signature. As long as you let him open it, he knows how to avoid the trap on it.
I will have a more substantial summary post up tonight when I have more time. I will also get your chronicle sheets up tonight. Other than a little bit of RP wrap-up, we're pretty much done. Congratulations, everyone! I hope you all had fun!
Milo Flamecursed |
You sure you want Marcus to go into the archery style? *grin*
Milo watches the last of the ghouls burn with satisfaction, he turns and grins at Lia, "Nice!"
that's it? was expecting that mercenary leader guy to show up. After causing all this trouble he deserved to get beat on!
He glances out the battered in door peering into the gloom outside. "Things seem to be calming down out there. Then again, maybe there'll all dead."
Lia Galanodel |
Sad face. Didn't get to open the chest with the deed without him. And yay, Lia levels! We still get to go back to retrieve whatshisfaces body, right?
"Nice thing about fighting in a distillery with a fire mage. Alcohol burns quite prettily. Now let's have a look at this worthless deed." If Becher proves reluctant to open the chest, Lia will have a crack at it herself.
Marcus McLaren |
"Good use of the flammable booze." quips Marcus. "Now that all the ghouls are gone, lets see what is outside, and what happened to the head bandit."
Naw. I don't think I will go with archery. Unless it is all attack rolls....
EndlessForms |
Becher opens the chest and pushes aside a paper on the top to reveal a hidden compartment. He reaches in to retrieve the true deed and proudly places his signature upon it, claiming the town of Railford as rightfully his.
One of the soldiers storming the distillery was Grald; sorry, I didn't make it clear but you guys were clearing them out so quickly. Also, Lia and Milo can go back and bury their guy now.
The citizens of Railford suffer greatly from the ghoul attacks. Cottages bear smashed doors and smears of blood while survivors of the attack stagger about bearing hideous wounds which require immediate attention. About half the survivors suffer from an injury, and half the injured are also afflicted with ghoul fever. Gnawed corpses lie strewn about the streets, infested with ghoul fever.
With the party's help the townsfolk are able to burn most of the bodies and bring in help from neighboring towns to cure all afflicted.
Becher is incredibly grateful for your aid and readily agrees to convert the distillery into a Pathfinder lodge, though he requests that he remain able to continue distilling whiskey. Becher, as the town's owner, welcomes you to stay in the town for as long as you like before undertaking your next mission.
Good job everyone! Hope you all had fun!
