Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun - who is practically salivating at the description of the rifle - strokes his beard furiously eyes ablaze,
"If I recover the weapon might I have leave to keep it? I find my interest most decidely piqued. Things have certainly grown exponentially more interesting! Let us head back to the Lodge and get underway!"
Azule trots up next to her master, and the two are soon engaged in an energetic chirruping discussion.
Torsk |
Khaldrun, I have no need for such a weapon therefore I have no issue with you keeping it. I agree, let us head back to the Lodge with our "little buddy" Torsk responds straight and to the point.
GMEDWIN |
Mithral Scab says, You will be able to keep it, but our new gearmaster may want to reverse engineer it, so he can duplicate it.
You make your way back to the lodge and led into Krenshar's office.
Krenshar stands up to greet you.
Well, well, well, how have things gone? then she sees Xaven Interesting...
Khaldrun the Rapid |
To Torsk Khaldrun offers a small bow,
"A most magnanimous gesture Torsk, rest assured should the opportunity arise your courtesy shall be repaid in kind."
To Mithral Scab, Khaldrun nods eagerly,
"Mmm, indeed I'd be most interested in working with him, a fascinating prospect. Why if I can extend the parameters to include touch range spells - in the likely event it possesses no such power at present - the possibilities are endless..."
To Krensahr Khaldrun responds,
"There have been some fascinating developments, I met a certain Master Scepter and his rather remarkable rifle, and learned of his less than friendly intent towards our persons. While those who could stomach removing themselves from the wonders of the written word can best tell you their own tale."
Alistair Cooper |
Hello Jalden, You remember that old smuggler we had trouble with years ago, Zuri? well it would seem this halfling here may be following in his footsteps. Torsk here cuaght him snooping around where he shouldn't be
Alistair also sounds a bit upset in his tone like there is information being kept from him.
He eventullay gets the nerve to ask Jalden
And what exactly is the deal with..Scepter? when did you plan on letting us in on this little problem.
it is obvious that Alistair is trying to restrain himself from being blatently insubordinate to the Venture Captain but he does seem rather perturbed at the situation.
Jaldan Krenshar aka GMEdwin |
Scepter, that little rat bastard, he disappeared about a year ago and we haven't heard from him since, except he may be working with the Paracount. We didn't know the Paracount was in Osirion last time we heard he had been in Katapesh. turning to Cooper.
Alistair being one of our officers means you need to read our communiques thoroughly or at all. Had we known about him, we would have informed you.
She then turns to the halfling. Who is this little bugger?
Torsk |
He says he tombraider, was listening on our private conversation, Torsk replies to her question. Found this stuff on him...
flasks of liquid (6),
smokestick, tanglefoot bag
(2), thunderstone, brush, creeping glyph, daggers (2),
glasscutter, ink pot, mwk sling, mwk thieves’
tools, sap, sling bullets (20), studded leather
armor, sunrod (4) and 20 gp.
Alistair Cooper |
Alistair's mood changes rather quickly at Jalden's tongue lashing.
You mean...those were...Oh crap
Alisair excuses himself for a moment while gets a quick breath of fresh air trying to avoid making more of a fool of himself than he already has.
Alistair Cooper |
While getting his breath of fresh air Alistair takes time to think about everything.
apparently talking to himself as he sorts through all the details.
Imivus, Imivus, who is he?, why ten people? maybe its in the rubbings. need to check them out.
he starts to pace back and forth
ringed planet...astronomy...scrolls... where to find the mask seems important.
Knowledge history: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Knowledge local: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
finally Alistair comes back in the room. where are those scrolls we bought, Kirsteen you said they involved astronomy right?
Alistair apparently trying to be more occupied in the current task to prevent dealing with his blunder from before.
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun takes a moment to review the things the party have passed on to him from the strange fellow Raegos, particularly concerning the pyramids strange guardian and its transformative magics. As he does so he chirrups back and forth with Azule bouncing ideas of his familiar.
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Khaldrun the Rapid |
"Indeed, I cannot think this fellow much of an assassin. Nor much of a man. Issueing a challenge by shooting ineffectually at a wizards possessions is simply rank foolishness, had I been in his place I would have killed me. Indeed the only harm he has done is expending one of the charges on a wand that we shall soon claim from his cold dead corpse," Khaldrun says coldly, honestly I would make a much better villain, but infamy is no indicator of power, better to act the hero.
Kirsteen |
Kirsteen looks over at Cooper as he re-enters the room. "Yes, the scrolls appeared to contain a good bit of astronomical information. It's a bit above my head since that is not my area of interest. Khaldrun, do you know much of astronomy?"
"Oh, and another thing to check out." With a glance at the eavesdropping halfling, Kirsteen takes out her little book from her pack and scribbles onto the last page, showing it to the others, but easily keeping it above the head height of the little spy. "I think that I may have seen something resembling the description of the funeral mask at the Exhibitory museum run by the Arch Docent." That last sentence was what was written.
Alistair Cooper |
wait a moment, efore we discuss to much
Alistair looks around a bit t se if there is a guard nearby
Jalden, If I may, Torsk would be so kind to go with a couple of the lodge guards and take him to the cells in the basement.
before they leave Alistair whipers to him That fellow may be a bit sneaky. I hope that your presence will deter him from trying anything but keep an eye on him just the same.
Torsk |
Ok, will do, as Torsk nods in understanding to Alistair.
If Xaven tries to do anything, whether it be escape, attack, make any strange noise like spellcasting or to give a signal; Torsk will whoop his butt into submission. :)

Cheliax. His written work now rests in the
Grand Athenaeum (museum) of Cheliax.
Aucturn is the eleventh planet from
golarion’s sun. although large, it is quite
distant and the slow-orbiting body is
rarely visible with the naked eye.
Khaldrun
both an astronomer and an architect.
his passion was his study of the distant planet aucturn, and some legends
claim aucturn inspired the magic that
fueled the pharaohs’ binding pact and
its influence infused the design of the
pyramid that now entombs the bodies
of the four pharoahs.
Are any of you going to check what liquid is in the flasks?
Look, don't get cocky, I have already lost one good man to Scepter, he is cynical and a very dangerous character, so watch your six!!
Later, By all means, We will start interrogating him after you leave. winking at Kirsteen, [b] You guys need to start hitting the pavement to find that mask.
Kirsteen |
After the little spy is taken out of the room, Kirsteen will attempt to identify the liquid in his flasks. She felt it rude to go through everything while he was still present.
Detect magic on the flasks, if magic she will attempt to identify what potion is in them.

Kirsteen and Khaldrun
Going to see the Arch Docent may be a good idea, he could be persuaded to let the Lodge borrow the mask as long as we provide the museum with a couple items from the tomb
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun nods, smoothing his beard thoughtfully,
"That seems an equitable solution. I am sure we can find many articles that would be of historical more than monetary value, and we could offer the museum first refusal on any other items we choose to sell to. Excellent. Do you have anything further to impart before we set off to speak with the Arch Docent Madam Krenshar?"
GMEDWIN |
I will move it forward if you don't mind.
After a very exciting day, your party wakes up and makes its way over to the Exhibitory(museum) to meet with the Arch Docent. You come upon the building's main entrance and are impressed by the large white granite it is carved from and the signs written in gold plate. Herein is considered property of the Forthbringer, may you share the light
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Deferring to Kirsteen's expertise, and knowledge of the establishment Khaldrun falls in behind the cleric, observing the various displays with interest and glorying in the pride of Osirion.
Torsk |
I hope they got the boards fixed for good finally :)
Wow Torsk thinks to himslef, the sights and sounds I have missed while training at the monastery. I am lucky teacher has allowed me to see the sights and sounds. If nothing else to broaden my experience to be the best I can be by challenging me to rise to the occasion set before me. Torsk will follow suit behind the Khaldrun and Kirsteen since the current setting is above his area of expertise :)
Alistair Cooper |
the previous night Alistair will try to make sense of the rubbins trying to translate what he can.
if needed linguistics check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15. he also speaks the following languages: Celestial, Common, Elven, Osiriani, Osiriani - Ancient, Sphinx, Thassilonian.
at the museum Alistair starts to take keen interest in many of the artifacts considering he not just a handsome face but an archeologist as well.

Alistair Cooper |
Alistair is mostly interested in the Pyramids of Ascencion and the 4 pharoahs
and yeah I can'r spell
GMEDWIN |
Soon afterwards a man escorts you to the office of the Arch Docent. Behind a wooden desk with many different kinds of historical trinkets on top sit a big Osiriani man wiht chestnut brown hair, stocky build wearing the traditional Osiriani robe with ancient Hieroglyphs on them.
He stands up and says Ahem, my name is Arch Docent, I remember you from the auction, he looks at Khaldrun and says You are Khaldrann, if I may, I am sorry if I mispronounced your name but it was a might noisy in the auction and wasn't able to hear properly. You outfoxed me on a couple items as I recall
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun offers a small, but respectful bow,
"An honor Arch Docent, I am pleased to make the acquaintance of anyone who cares so much for our great nations treasures. My name is pronounced Khaldrun, though it is of little import. Your establishment does you credit. I make no promises, since I made my purchases for our group here rather than for myself, but perhaps when our own need for them is over we might speak about finding some items homes here. I fear I have never given over the time required to make a true study of Osirian artifacts, having been occupied with the arcane, but I would dearly love to undertake such studies at some point.
"But I digress, and shall yield the floor to those of my companions more suited to the bandying of words."
Kirsteen |
Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
"I'm also pleased to finally meet you Arch Docent. I've frequented your exhibition hall a number of times of in the past and have marveled at the items you've managed to collect each time. One item in particular from a past exhibit has recently come up in relation to an expedition that we are preparing to undertake. The item was a funeral mask, inlayed with gold and adorned with a headdress of feathers, dyed both red and black. Do you happen to recall that mask sir? We would be interested to know if it is still in your possession?"
GMEDWIN |
The Arch Docent smiles and says, I know of what you speak, alas, I have only the copy... The pharoah has tasked me with acquiring the genuine one, however, the Crook Bearer will not sell it to the museum. Supposedly, his father bought it some time ago. The mask I have is a very good copy but the feathers are fake. Hahahaha!
Alistair Cooper |
was there any info from the rubbings?
During the talks with the museum curator Alistair leaves the negotiating to Kirsteen (she is the most skill in this area).
Alistair merely spends some time exploring the museum
in case needed: perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Kirsteen |
sense motive if he is being truthful 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
"Would you mind terribly if we went ahead and looked at the fake while we are here. I'd like to see if it really does match the description of the one we are looking for. After all, if the copy doesn't match, then surely the real one wouldn't either and I'd hate to bother the Crook Bearer unnecessarily."
That and I'd like to make sure you just don't know what you have...
GMEDWIN |
Kirsteen
Not a problem, let me escort you to the mask, its in our Ascension section, do you have any questions for me? The Crook Bearer won't let you borrow it, this is known.
A little later he brings you to the mask. He takes out a key and unlocks the glass case containing the mask. He then puts on white felt gloves and hands it to Kirsteen.

Torsk |
Torsk will walk around the museum, just taking in all the different exhibits. Not paying any particular attention to any specific exhibit. He will make periodic Perception checks to make sure no one is paying special attention to him or his friends.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
When everyone meets back up with the Arch Docent near the case to the mask, Torsk will wander over to the group and make another Perception check to make sure nobody else is taking an extreme liking to what is going on.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Honor meet you Arch Docent. You have many beautiful things in museum, honored I get to see them. Torsk says in his typical broken common.
Lanfear Xinskarr The Hydra |
Perception check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Lanfear just stands at a corner of the museum looking around it.
She follows Kirsteen as she recognize Kirsteen expertise in this area.
GMEDWIN |
Kirsteen
The Arch Docent continues in a whisper As I can tell you have noticed, those feathers are artificial and so is the whole piece, but the Pharoah, may he live forever, wanted to instill national pride in Osirian and our history, you do understand.

Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun casts detect magic, and checks the mask just in case,
"Very well, thank you Arch Docent, your aide is much appreciated."
Once they leave the Arch Docent's presence Khaldrun asks,
"What should our course be now? We cannot steal the mask from this Crook Bearer. That leaves us with persuasion, purchase - which seems likely to be beyond our current means - or simply waiting until the mask is used by others and taking advantage of the opportunity."
