Torsk |
Torsk will attempt to notify the group of the unwanted presence outside shaped like a halfling.
Bluff to pass hidden message I guess??after attempting to pass message I plan on going to confront our 'friend' so I don't know if it would be initiative and I move 50' per round :) and will double move to get to him if I have to :) 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11.
Alistair Cooper |
I would have to agree with Kirsteen here, Khaldrun is a bit of the book worm when it comes to this stuff. Alistair comments with a wink to Kirsteen.
As far as what that other fellow turned into, its anyone guess but probably some sort of undead. and about the only thing I know about them is I hate them, especially mummies
GMEDWIN |
Khaldrun
I get to run a Pbp chase scene
Xaven Sense Motive vs. your bluff check 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Torsk initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Xaven initiative 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Xaven bolts and gets the jump on you trying to get away. You can either roll your escape artist check to bob and weave through the crowd or you can push people out of the way
For Kirsteen and Cooper, Raegos continues His skin turned grey and he proceeded to hunt down my traveling companions. after which he pours another dram of whisky and pours it on the groud. To the dead, may they find peace!
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun activates his Pearl of Power to recall the Vanish spell and then moves into the doorway to the tent, readying himself to cast the spell should anyone make a threatening move, holding his rod in his left hand, mostly tucked into the sleeve of his robe so it's obvious he does not intend it to be used as a weapon.
"Milla. Scepter was it not? I fear my ears are burning. What business did you have with myself and my companions Master Scepter?"
This might be kinda silly, but Khaldrun should be pretty badass at running away if push comes to shove.
Torsk |
Wouldn't an Acrobatics check (you can keep your balance while traversing narrow or treacherous surfaces. You can also dive, flip, jump, and roll to avoid attacks and overcome obstacles) be more applicable to the circumstances to kinda tumble and move through the crowd :)
Acrobatics 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
if not lol then my escape artist
Escape artist 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
GMEDWIN |
Damn, I did this yesterday now I have to redo it
Khaldrun: Milla turns to you and says This is, I guess, one of our colleagues Scepter, he has been working for the Pathfinders for at least five years.
Scepter then says To be honest I was looking for Mithral Scab an old buddy of mine, she and I have been on a couple of hairy capers in the past and I thought Milla would know where she was. She told me she was traveling with you and your friends. And I asked her who you were
Torsk: Xaven Escape Artist check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 He is able to gain ground on you and turns a corner and knocks over a falafel cart, which enables you to gain ground on him.
Escape Artist check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
roll another escape artist, an acrobatics and a climb check
GMEDWIN |
Xaven rolls E 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11, Acrobatics 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Climb 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Running through the crowd, Torsk is able to gain ground through his deft agility, cunning and his ability to read the flow of pedestrian, and animal traffic.
Xaven was able to maintain his lead just barely traversing a large pit but when confronted with scaling the wall of a store front, Torsk was able to grab the foot of the halfling, flinging him to the ground.
Xaven a bit bruised, says Ok, Ok, I give up, I'll come quietly.
@Khaldrun,
You are not able to discern any falsehoods told by Scepter.
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Frowning Khaldrun nods,
"Perhaps I might be able to bear a message to Mithral Scab for you? Might I inquire what it is you do now Master Scepter? It seems you were, or possibly are, affiliated with the Pathfinders?"
Torsk |
Torsk will make his way back to the tent of 'secrecy' with the halfling. If the little turd tries to run or escape in any way I will grapple him and keep dealing subdual damage until he passes out cold.
And Torsk will look at the halfling and say in a stern voice, I should pound you for throwing falaful cart on me! DO NOT TEST MY PATIENCE!"
Intimidate 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
GMEDWIN |
@Khaldrun Man your quoting my paraphrase.... The best you would know is that he worked on a few jobs with Milla and Mithral Scab. And Milla believes he still does.
Torsk drags the halfling by the ear back to the tent where Lanfear, Cooper, Kirsteen, Mithral Scab and Raegos are still conversing.
Raegos still in mid sentence After my problems in the Pyramids, I figured the best way to avoid the curse was to go to Avistan, where I served as a mercenary and .... he turns to see the halfling in his tent.
Who might you be?
Khaldrun the Rapid |
You find out that Scepter works or at least worked for the Pathfinders and worked with Milla.
I'm a bit confused, you mean I don't know that in character? Even if he does not know for sure it seems a reasonable supposition since he has worked with Milla and the Mithral Scab, so Khaldrun will ask anyway in the hope of getting him to reveal something.
GMEDWIN |
Its supposed to be ambiguous, no problem... At least what youve heard from what Scepter said he hasn't lied and Milla's assumptions are ok
Scepter says Look, I have been working with the Scab on this mission and I need to talk to her
GM Rolls
He is definitely not working with Scab and it seems he has sinister motives vis a vis the party
Alistair Cooper |

Alistair turns to face the halfling and Torsk
he sizes up the situation for a moment before adding his own question.more to the point, why are you here?
Lanfear Xinskarr The Hydra |
Lanfear cracks all four hand's knuckles menacingly while looking at the halfing.
Speak or the last thing you will see is my fist in your face.
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun nods,
"Did that ring true to you Milla? I think if you were working with the Scab you would no how to contact her, it seems unlikely such an allegedly competent operative would overlook such a simple precaution. Please tell me what you are after, and who are you working for. I would really rather this conversation remain pleasant."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Torsk |
"Torsk catch him snooping around tent and listening in. Me chase him through bazaar tables, almost lost him but training help me catch him", Torsk replies to Khaldrun and Alistair with a bit of a huff and puff from the quick marathon he ran.
If it comes to blows, let me take first crack please. He make me run and threw a felafel cart on me. Now I smell like fruit, ugh, Torsk responds to Kirsteen's diplomatic attempt to resolves things peacefully.
To the DM...just want to clarify things...(He is definitely not working with Scab and it seems he has sinister motives vis a vis the party). Who is "using" us? Raegos?
GMEDWIN |
These are two different people. Just a reminder that Khaldrun is not with the rest of the party. I never said anyone is using you.
Khaldrun: The man looks at you quizzically, Hence I ended up in this vicinity, how well do you know the Scab? I have no time for foolish games, either you can help me with finding her or you can't. Good Day!
The imposing looking man walks right past you like nothing was there, you also take notice of the extremely large firearm on his back.
Rest:
Xaven says, Ey, it's all in tha game. Y'all got yur hands on a sum helpful gear and I done wanted to takin it. Figurd ta listen ta ja find some stuff out. Thats how we tombraiders do...
Torsk |
Personally I think we should strip him of his goods and then let him go. Maybe donate them to the less fortunate in the city. What does the rest of us think we should do? Should we strip of of his possessions and teach him a lesson or let him go with a warning? Torsk questions his comrades.
Kirsteen |
"I for one am offended to be called a "tombraider". I don't appreciate the negative connotations that go along with it. We are on a scientific expedition and the items we recover will be studied and shown in museums and appreciated for the historical significance that they have."
GMEDWIN |
Me, right now I got a crew, an Orc a couple o' doublings. For me its about the thrill of the kill nots the challenge of the chase... he then turns to Kirsteen Honey, whatevers clever, dilute y'all all you want, the games tha game. You do it for the glory, I do it for shiny yellow bricks, ya heard? he then starts to play with a gizmo on his armor.
Pretty neat, huh? I disabled a trap in Mendev about 8 years back, I love the reminders... HAHAHAHAH!!!
Alistair Cooper |
Alistair ponder the idea of being called "tombraider" haven't been called that in a while he thinks
But he is soon is jarred back to the current situation at the comment about joining us.
I definately have to agree with Kirsteen here. I have had my share of bad situations by putting trust in the wrong people. Alistair pauses a moment apparently recollecting a painful memory, glancing toward Kirsteen. won't make that mistake a second time
anyway, I spent my fair share of time in the lodge's prison cells for it as well. Torsk search him for anything useful, if he resists then...make him stop resisting
Torsk |
Torsk will search him, if I can take a 20 then that gives me a Perception of 30. If I have to roll then I get 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15. I want to also inspect his gizmo he played with...does it seem magical in anyway like a beacon or anything?
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun steps aside politely enough, but as the man moves off calls,
"Things will not go well for you if you interfere in my business Master Scepter. Give me cause to be your enemy and you will regret it profoundly. You are fortunate I have respect for the laws of this great nation or I might teach you some manners here and now. You wield a stick that goes bang, I command the fabric of reality - albeit imperfectly. Feel free to test me here and now."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Had you guys noticed Khaldrun was arrogant? ;) And not overly wise.
Readied action to cast vanish and five foot step, should Scepter or Milla act threateningly.
GMEDWIN |
Torsk finds on Xaven: flasks of liquid (6),
smokestick, tanglefoot bag
(2), thunderstone, brush, creeping glyph, daggers (2),
glasscutter, ink pot, mwk sling, mwk thieves’
tools, sap, sling bullets (20), studded leather
armor, sunrod (4) and 20 gp.
Khaldrun:
Scepter walks out of the tent and walks left melting into the crowd about five minutes later attacks your metamagic wand with a scorching ray1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 hit with 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 1) = 7 burning your wand.
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Before the five minutes.
Khaldrun addresses Milla,
"I appreciate the man is an old acquaintance, but I feel he is clearly working against us here. Might I ask you to balance the scales and give me a description of him, since he now has ours.?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Five minutes later.
As flame shoots forth to warm his rod Khaldrun smiles, Ah, we are to play are we?
Reactive Spot: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Spellcraft for Scorching Ray: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
GMEDWIN |
Milla answers the question, Scepter is one of the best the Pathfinders has, he was a protege of Kal Tarrow. Scepter is a great marksman, as well as an Evoking specialist and such. Alas, I have been in quasiretirement for some time so after such a display, maybe he is no longer a Pathfinder... He prolly guessed I wasn't in the loop. Cooper, Khaldran or Scab would know more...
Stealth Scepter 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36
Khaldrun tries to see where the ray came from and is completely confused.
Khaldrun the Rapid |
You take a -20 to stealth for sniping GMEDWIN.
Sniping
If you've already successfully used Stealth at least 10 feet from your target, you can make one ranged attack and then immediately use Stealth again. You take a –20 penalty on your Stealth check to maintain your obscured location.
If that has been factored in I really am scared.
GMEDWIN |
even so, he is pretty far away and in an elevated position and do not forget the natural 20 die roll, which you also got...
Perception Modifiers DC Modifier
Distance to the source, object, or creature +1/10 feet
Through a closed door +5
Through a wall +10/foot of thickness
Favorable conditions1 –2
Unfavorable conditions1 +2
Terrible conditions2 +5
Creature making the check is distracted +5
Creature making the check is asleep +10
Creature or object is invisible +20
He is 70 feet away, you are carrying on a conversation with Milla and lets say terrible conditions. 36+7+5+5-20=33 which is still higher than your score. If I do make a mistake I don't have a problem admitting Im wrong. :)
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Unfavorable Conditions 1 Favorable and unfavorable conditions depend upon the sense being used to make the check. For example, bright light might increase the DC of checks involving sight, while torchlight or moonlight might give a penalty. Background noise might reduce a DC involving hearing, while competing odors might penalize any DC involving scent.
Terribl;e Conditions 2 As for unfavorable conditions, but more extreme. For example, candlelight for DCs involving sight, a roaring dragon for DCs involving hearing, and an overpowering stench covering the area for DCs involving scent.
Alistair Cooper |
yes, thank you for your time Alistair adds.
when its time to leave Alistair smacks Xaven on the back of the head
come on, lets go introduce you to some new friends
GMEDWIN |
Khaldrun
Khaldrun spots Scepter on top of a building at 70ft.
GM Rolls
Initiative:
Scepter 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Khaldrun 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Scepter casts invisibility and runs away.
After making their goodbyes the group make their way back to Milla's tent and find Khaldrun.
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun's eyes gleam,
"A rifle that can shoot spells... It will be mine, oh yes."
When the group return, he fills them in,
"That Scepter fellow was trying to find out what we were doing, and Milla just gave him descriptions of us all. Apparently they used to work together. He has a rifle he can apparently shoot spells from - which I plan to take of his cold dead corpse. So what did you discover?"
Lanfear Xinskarr The Hydra |
Finally it gets interesting. I would like to meet this Scepter. A device like this would be invaluable in value and function.
Turning to Khaldrun
You will have my swords for the assassination of scepter when the time comes my friend.
Khaldrun the Rapid |
Khaldrun nods,
"Mmm, I find my interest most assuredly peaked. Can you tell me anymore of the functions of this intrigueing weapon Madame Scab? More information about either the Paracount or this Scepter would also be of great help.."
GMEDWIN |
Our gearmaster, Kaldis Blacksquall, had been working on this weapon in secret for a long time, what I do know is that it extremely accurate, can cycle through multiple wands and has a razor sharp bayonet.
Scab thinks for a bit, The paracount is a world renowned collector of antiquities and he is also a cleric, I am not exactly sure of which deity.
Alistair Cooper |
I am sorry, but Kalim is an expert in tracking down rogue agents. He has been training me in those tecniques. In any event it would seem we have competition and they may be well funded.
