Though he can not get a very good look at the creature Petrus is able to identify it as a type of gremlin called a jinkins. Pointing out the creature the rest of you see the monster grimacing like a maniac. The lean little bat-eared horror displays a mouth full of needle-like teeth and glowing, orange eyes. Petrus knows that these creatures are a type of fey that are resistant to weapons not made out of cold iron, as well as most spells, and can make devastating attacks from hiding.

”Please don’t struggle." His voice is quiet but firm. "I want to get you out of here, but you have to come with me now.”

If they fight back, there’s nothing Kiddrik can do, really … as they’re pretty much playing right into Petrus’s suspicions (and Kidd won’t continually burn resources to keep them alive if they’re intent on trying to fight us). If, however, they stay civil or at least non-aggressive, Kiddrik helps them to their feet—not giving them their weapons back—and escorts them to the ladder … doing his best to avoid the Togg if possible. If not, he’ll reassure Togg that these are friends and they just want to leave his sewers.

”Thanks for saying so.” He shrugs as he looks uncertainly over at Petrus, ”I mean … I didn’t want to die back there, and I’m glad we can rely on Petrus to do what needs doing … but … I don’t know … it just didn’t seem right.”

As you follow the dirrections you turn a corner and are greeted by an unusual site. Fallen rubble from an earlier excavation clogs the channel, slowing the water flow and accumulating a mass of sewage on one side. A thick carpet of moss and fungus—clearly representing a wide variety of green, blue, and ochre-colored specimens—sprawls across the top of the debris and hangs from the ceiling, with several larger mounds of fungus clinging to the walls or stemming from the hole to the east. Wispy blue tendrils descend from the ceiling and almost touch the water, creating a thin, eerie curtain of plant matter.
Approaching Cirri is quick to point out that the growth here is not natural. It seems to well maintained and is most likely a form of garden. The question of who tends this garden is quickly answered as one of the large mounds of mushroom shambles to life. Mismatched eyes dot this plant creature's thick mushroom cap, while below works an overlarge maw set with pale fungal teeth. The screeches at you in an inhuman language and the vegetation all around it starts to tremble as if alive. A mass of vines clinging to the ceiling moves forward first. The creature is ornamented with beautiful crimson and violet flowers, the petals of which seem to bear tiny faces.

Kiddrik identifies the mushroom creature as a Fungal Leshy, known for being farmer of rare and dangerous molds and fungi. He remembers they are immune to electricity and sonic damage as well as the standard protections plant creatures have.

Petrus tries communicating, probing to see if the creature speaks any comprehensible languages.

"Sorry friend, I don't speak your tongue. Don't suppose you speak common?"

Celestial:
"Sorry friend, I don't speak your tongue. Don't suppose you speak celestial?"

Sylvan:
"Sorry friend, I don't speak your tongue. Don't suppose you speak sylvan?"

Cirri knows Common, Elven, Dwarven, Aquan, and Auran if that helps.

The Creature pauses when Petrus calls out in Sylvan. Its many eyes narrow at the man but it hold up a "hand" which seems to hold the vines back. What you do here? My Garden you no hurt! it calls back in sylvan. before calling up in its strange language to the vines which seem to start to sliver their way down to the farmer.

FYI. Normally you can't use diplomacy in combat since its takes 1 min to change a creatures attitude and if they are attacking they are probably Hostile so not open to requests. This guys a little different so I'm going to go with it.
Also the strange laganguage it is speaking is plantspeech (fungi) I doubt anyone has that :)

Petrus motions to his companions to wait a moment while he talks to the creature.

Sylvan:
"We wouldn't dream of doing any harm to your garden. And what a lovely garden it is, by the way. Those flowers are truly beautiful.

We're simply passing through. Perhaps you could be so kind as to show us the quickest way forward so that we can avoid accidentally treading on any of your wonderful plantings. "

Cirri's just happy she wasn't caught off guard again.

Kiddrik plants his longspear in the floor, leaning on it once again like a long walking stick. He gives his warmest smile, doing his down-right best to exude calm, friendly vibes to the strange plant-people.

Not even sure this is possible, but if Kidd can Aid Another Petrus’s diplomacy attempts through friendly non-verbals, he will (though I don’t even want to know what kind of situational penalties might apply when attempting this kind of thing across such different species gaps)

The Veteran's Vault: MAP

The Leshy seems swayed by Petrus's words and Kiddrik's warm smile. It shows you a path through the garden and to the sewer beyond. The red flowers of the vines snap playfully at your heals as you pass.
The sewer continues on for a while and then comes to an intersection. Although your directions tell you to go right there is a natural cleft in the rocky soil breaches the sewer wall and rises gently to the north. Heaps of stranded organic material and garbage litter the opening, from which emanates a pungent stink even stronger than the complex’s already
unpleasant odor.
this cave was not mentioned in you directions which leads you to believe it is recent. Also the wall it is in should be one of the walls shared by the vault. It is possible this cave will provide a more direct route to the vault.

We are off the old map. I'll have a new map up Monday.

Cirri giggles like a schoolgirl as she (carefully) walks through the garden. "Wow, this fungus is taking great care of the garden. Happy we didn't mangle it."

Cirri is tempted to wave goodbye, but she doesn't want to agitate it. "What's with the hole in the wall? Do you think someone's been here already?"

"Only one way to find out. In we go."

Petrus reaches out and places a hand on Cirri's staff as he moves past her, quietly reciting an incantation in celestial. The staff begins to glow brightly, pushing back the darkness inside the cavern.

The plant creature seems to be a mass of diseased fibers growing on a plant burt slithers forward independently from its sickly host.
Knowledge Dungeonerring to identify plant:

DC 12+:

This is actually not a plant but a Garden Ooze. As such it has ooze traits.

DC 17+:

It deals Acid damage when attacking and is immune to acid.

DC 22+:

Garden Oozes can emit a strong pungent smell once a day that can sicken creatures.

The Creature that shot at Petrus looks just like the creature you destroyed at the rat statue.
Knowledge Nature to identify

DC 11+:

This is an evil fey know as a jinkin.

DC 16+:

Like a lot of fey they are ressitaint to damage from weapons not made of cold iron.
DR 5/ cold iron

DC 21+:

They have spell like abilities that let them create small magical effects; they also have limited teleport abilities.
