The Bot Behind the Screen |
Yep, everyone in the party has multiple light source options, just informing you that you need to turn them on. Light cantrip ain't just for wizards anymore! I admit, sometimes it feels silly to inform a high level PFS party that it is dark and they need light, but it's all part of the show.
The stalker seems to be hiding itself very well within the warehouse... so far.
Everyone, continue to move yourselves around and mark your paths. You aren't limited to combat rounds.
Reynold Malkin |
Reynold is holding his flashlight in his left hand for a light source.
Scanning the area with his flashlight, Reynold stalks around the crawlspace to investigate the far platform.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Portia Steele |
Portia continues west into the room and continues looking around, keeping silent despite the light announcing her location.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Padme' |
Padme draws her laser pistol and positions herself near one of the vats she then takes a long look around. perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Mordin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Baddie: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
I'll assume Da'at and Mordin continue on their apparent trajectories.
Padme peeks around the vats and doesn't find the beast, but does find another medpatch that was left behind.
Vasily creeps forward over to the scaffolding that surrounds another pile of crates, and Portia takes to the lower half. A rustle comes from the scaffolding... and suddenly the beast makes it's move! It climbs forward across the top of the scaffolding, and raises it's tail, preparing to attack Portia!
Round 1:
Portia
Feather Stalker
Tinker
Padme
Da'at
Reynold
Mordin
Map notes:
The catwalk around the perimeter is 15 ft above the floor
The barrels and scaffolding are 10 ft tall
The crates and the vehicle are 5 ft tall
Climbing the crates or scaffolding require a DC 10 Athletics check
Squares containing rubble or objects count as difficult terrain
Remember that the area is dimly lit, and your personal lighting is for the most part, very localized. I'm not going to get all restrictive about targeting things, but keep that in mind as you roleplay your actions.
Portia Steele |
Portia takes a shot at the Feather Stalker with her laser rifle, then retreats 20 feet back. "I've made contact with the giant chicken." She informs everyone afterwards.
Laser Rifle: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
The Bot Behind the Screen |
The creature hisses as the laser rifle singes it's feathers. "KREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A small clump of feathers jut out of it's tail, flying fast at Portia. When they strike, they feel like being pierced by a spear.
Feather Harpoon: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
It quickly climbs down the scaffolding and moves to try to engage it's mark in melee.
Round 1:
Tinker
Padme
Da'at
Reynold
Mordin
Round 2:
Portia (-5)
Feather Stalker (-5)
Reynold Malkin |
Reynold bolts around the crawl space and whistles at the creature. ”Over here, dusty!”
Move to square, standard to use clever feint against the creature (if successfully feinted then it’s flat-footed against the group [-2 AC] until the end of Reynold’s next turn; if not then it’s only flat-footed against Reynold. Feint DC is 10 + Sense Motive modifier or 15 + 1.5xCR, whichever is higher).
Bluff: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 10 + (1) = 19
Da'at |
Da'at pulls out a small canister, brimming with a variety of electronics, chips and a torn bright red label proclaiming it to be "the best tomato soup around!"
"Stand back! It's about to get sticky!"
Sticky grenade vs Giant Chicken: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Entangled for?: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Miss: 1d8 ⇒ 1

The Bot Behind the Screen |
Funny thing is you still catch it without hitting your allies.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 DC 10 + Half Item Level (1/2 = 0) + Dex Mod (2) = 12
Reynold gets the attention of the Feather StalkerGiant Chicken, and Da'at hurls a vial sticky concoction at it. The creature manages to duck back and avoid getting it's legs ensnared, then turns and hisses at Da'at.
Round 1:
Tinker
Padme
Da'at
Reynold
Mordin
Round 2:
Portia (-5)
Feather Stalker (-5, Flat-footed)
Portia Steele |
Grimacing from her injury, Portia takes a five foot step guarded step back 5 feet then fires upon the angry bird!
Laser Rifle: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Critical Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Burn baby Burn: 1d6 ⇒ 4
I have to say, that critical damage was a let down.
Padme' |
Padme' feels a rush of.... what's this? Am I feeling anxiety?. Instead of her usual measured approach to challenges, Padme' feels the sudden need for urgency. Therefore, instead of firing off one carefully aimed shot she pulls the trigger of her laser pistol rapidly. laser: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 2 - 4 = 4dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 2 2 shot: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 4 = 3dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Mordin Gimhargruest |
Mordin stands on the catwalk, concentrating.
An ephemeral, shimmering shape appears next to the giant chicken and then slides closer, flitting and flickering in its line of sight.
Standard: cast Wisp Ally (provides Harrying fire or Covering fire, this round Covering fire for Portia). Move: Direct wisp to move to target.
The Bot Behind the Screen |
The party slowly reform into a cohesive unit, peppering the feathered stalker with shots as they move. Portia's shot strikes the creature clear in the chest, while Padme and Tinker have difficulty aiming with all of the bright flashes in such a dark room.
A wisp of smoke appears and forms into the shape of a soldier which begins to provide covering fire for Portia and the stalker makes it's move. Covering fire is +2 AC right? My core rulebook isn't in hand...
Claw at Portia: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Crit Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
DC 11 Fort Save or be Sickened for: 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds
The stalker rushes forward to to tear at Portia (Provoking an AoO from Da'at if he has a melee weapon out, which I don't think he does) and keep the others at bay. With a slash from it's feathered appendage it screams loudly and when you look back at Portia you can see a sharp feathered quill jutting from her ribcage.
Round 2:
Tinker
Padme
Da'at
Reynold
Mordin
Round 3:
Portia (-16)
Feather Stalker (-5, Flat-footed)
Reynold Malkin |
Covering fire is +2 AC right? My core rulebook isn't in hand...
I think it's -2 to the target creature's attack rolls, since you target an enemy rather than an ally, but the result is the same yeah.
Reynold grimaces as the beast tears into Portia, and rattles off two shots with his static arc pistol to try and help her out.
Full attack (I don't think Da'at gives it cover from where I'm standing, but I might be wrong; if I am then Reynold will move west to get around Da'at and take only one shot instead).
Attack #1 (static arc pistol vs. flat-footed): 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 3 - 4 = 19
Crit Damage (electricity): 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8 No valid targets for the arc.
Attack #2 (static arc pistol vs. flat-footed): 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 3 - 4 = 10
Damage (electricity): 1d6 ⇒ 1
12/20 charges remaining.
Da'at |
Da'at curses, draws his hammer and goes to brain the giant chicken.
Assault Hammer, two-handed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The blow goes wild and the cursing intensifies.
Mordin Gimhargruest |
Yes. For all the good it did!
"All Father return and slap us silly!" Mordin curses as the bird tears into Portia. He hurries down the catwalk back to the stairs. "Portia, withdraw. I'll patch you up."
Portia Steele |
Now seriously injured, Portia takes Mordin's advice and withdraws to the side of the catwalk containing the dwarf.
Withdraw action with a double move.
The Bot Behind the Screen |
Forgot to roll the save vs Burn
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Pass, no longer burning
Reynold manages to land another deadly wound on the beast with his first shot, but the vibration from the gun as it recharges sets his aim a little bit off for the second round.
The beast swipes at Tinker as he fires his pistol.
AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Sickened: 1d4 ⇒ 1 DC 11 fort negates
Tinker finds himself winded as he leaps back to avoid the worst of the blow, and neither shot strikes the stalker.
Round 2:
Tinker
Padme
Da'at
Reynold
Mordin
Round 3:
Portia (-16)
Feather Stalker (-20)
Portia Steele |
I forgot about the sickened roll, my bad.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Padme' |
Padme truly frightened from the ferocity of the creature grabs the medpack and follows Portia up the cat walk to see what she can do.
GM I assume garbing an item is a move action then I actually move. However, if was assumed I had already gathered the medpack, as I discovered it..I will instead turn at the top of the stairs and squeeze off a shot at the creature.
The Bot Behind the Screen |
Everyone who found an item in the crates is assumed to have already picked it up.
Padme fires off another round at the feathered stalker and falls back. The shot does little to affect the creature, and it begins to rip and tear at Da'at.
2 Feathered Appendage Attacks: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 4 = 231d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 4 = 7 1 Hit

Round 4:
Portia (-16)
Feather Stalker (-20)
Mordin Gimhargruest |
Mordin closes the distance to Portia and places his hand on her as he concentrates. She feels a rush of energy and her wounds begin to close.
Mystic Cure: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Portia Steele |
As her injuries fade, Portia mouths a 'thank you' to Mordin before taking another shot at the feather stalker.
Laser Rifle: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Crit Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9
Burn Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Reynold Malkin |
Seeing his comrades retreat for cover, Reynold whistles loudly at the creature again before slinking in between the crates to take cover.
Standard to clever feint, move to square.
Bluff (clever feint): 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 10 + (1) = 13
Oof...well at least it’s still flat-footed against me!
Da'at |
Da'at finishes cursing, and lays into the space chicken.
Assault Hammer, two-handed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Padme' |
Padme' moves to the top of the catwalk and takes another shot at the creature. laser: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Da'at |
"Finger... Licking... Good. Whew. Anyone got a kleenex? I think I might have some space chicken juice on me" pants the Kasatha.
Mordin Gimhargruest |
"What're you talking about, Tinker?" Mordin asks. "Nobody lost a single limb or eye to that beast."
He opens his communications panel on his sleeve and calls Ziggy. "We killed the giant chicken. You can move into your office space, just bring a sonic carving knife and a few industrial sized ovens."
Reynold Malkin |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Reynold holsters his pistol and crosses his arms. "Of course now we have to deal with an even more horrendous monster...the raging fans of that candy pop group."
Portia Steele |
Portia breathes a huge sigh of relief and promptly sits down on the catwalk, "Whew, that was a hairy one for a bit. I think I need to catch my breath for a few before we go album shopping."
If allowed to rest 10 minutes, will spend 1 Resolve to regain Stamina.
Padme' |
Padme hands the medkit to Portia, here, maybe this will help with your injuries, I'm afraid I have little training in its use.
Portia Steele |
Portia accepts the medkit and looks it over with a confused look, "Uh, is there a doctor in the house?"
The Bot Behind the Screen |
A few minutes after the gunfire stops, the room gets quiet. You hear a few voices outside, and then the door opens and Zigvigix walks in accompanied by a few of the station security forces.
"Congratulations on the extermination! Excellent work! Finally we have a new headquarters. Make yourselves at home, the movers will start from the mess at the rear. And for your trouble..."
Zigvigix produces a crate containing basic iridishell armor, a pair of incendiary grenades (I), and 400 credits. "Have fun with the grenades, but don't blow yourselves up- I like you!"
You all have time to take a 10 minute rest (or more) before heading out to wait in line. That update soon to come.
Da'at |
"Don't mind if I do! I'll... Uh... Take a breather in that chair if you don't mind." says Da'at.
Spending 1 resolve to regain my SP.
The Bot Behind the Screen |
Zigvigix begins ordering workers around as the begin to clear the crates, drums, and the corpse from the warehouse. After you all catch your breath, you make your way to the record* store where you find yourselves presented with one hell of a line. From where you stand, you think you can see the record store 2 blocks down. Street vendors walk up and down the line, selling various meats contained within various bread products. Event organizers are walking back and forth up the line getting people riled up, and then dragging people off when they get a little too riled up. The crowd is full of people dressed as members of the band or characters in their latest music-vids. Periodically, large swaths of the line spontaneously join in a rousing rendition of some of their latest hits and even some deeper cuts.
An hour passes and the line seems to have moved... about 10 ft.
Everyone... make a Fort Save
*Record, being shorthand for recording, not having anything to do with pressed vinyl.
Reynold Malkin |
Reynold makes a show of rolling his eyes, checking his watch, looking to the front of the line, and playing games on his comm unit.
Fortitude: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Mordin Gimhargruest |
Fortitude: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Mordin finds the line oppressive.
Portia Steele |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Her arms crossed, Portia begins to whistle to herself as the interminable wait continues, "Couldn't just one of us stand in line?"
