Male Human Fighter - Level 3

Grailmont looked infront of him, the group was starting to get overwhelmed by the mites and the huge bug, he had to get the attention of everything so the party could focus on range castings. He swung his sword down on Mite I,

Fortitude save for Echo: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 Echo feels a bit dizzy, the stab wound beginning to burn from whatever the mite had smeared upon the shaft. His only consolation is that Ser Brandon killed the mite before he could stab him again. Dex Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2 Another Fort Save Please

The elemental cracked the hard shell of the centipede a solid blow before dissipating into crumbling dust.

The centipede notices a clear line to the sorcerer as he attempts to rise, it's tail again striking out for the AoO for Centipede vs Echo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 for Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1, the tail connecting whip-like across his cheek, the wound stinging and Trip Attempt: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22 causing the baron to fall again to his kneeks.

Mite A moves up and strikes at the less armored and more on eye-level target, it's Pookey Stick: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 jabbing at Echo but missing as it feels the slick floor beneath it's feet.

Mite F strikes at Grailmont with a Pookey Stick: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1, the stick coming loose of it's hands and clattering to the ground.

Mite I fumbles himself on the slick ground but still tries to strike at Grailmont with a Pookey Stick: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5, missing widely.

Mite H likewise encounters traction issues when striking at Ser Brandon with a Pookey Stick: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6, missing the warrior.

The Giant Centipede again attempts to Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 at Grailmont and lashes out as Ser Brandon with it's Barbed Twitching Tail: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15, failing again to connect with either blow.

The mite chieftain hurls a small crude javelin into the fray, attempting to strike Grailmont. Pookey Stick: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4 but the barb gets caught up in dangling roots and hangs loosely above the centipede.

Ayerth had expended his magic, but he was protected by Mage Armor AC 17 and there were four shifting images of him three of them false, 25% miss chance.

Seeing the Baron go down again and writhe under the poison while being stabbed at caused the elven mage grave concern for the sorcerer. He reached down and drug the man out of the frey to safety in the rear.

"Here! Get up once I can shield you!"

Ayerth will move to guard the Baron with his elven longsword.

Ser Brandon find the mite between himself Genral Grailmont. "Surrounded the little fool" he thinks to himself as he puts all his might into the blow.


Ayerth, I believe Silas moved up to combat the mite facing the Baron, but did not reflect so on the updated map. Due to this, you will not be able to pull the Baron to safety from your position. The hard corner of the wall will prevent it.

That said, Silas did succeed in attacking and killing Mite A. This would allow Ser Brandon to kill Mite H instead.

Ayerth, you may redirect your action this round if you wish.
Ser Brandon, if desired you may make a 5' step to close the distance to the giant centipede.

Mite F continues it's attacks on Grailmont, it's Pookey Stick: 1d20 ⇒ 13 missing again as the mite moves into a more advantageous spot.

The giant centipede finds itself having trouble striking the warriors near to it, instead noticing a narrow stretch between itself and a softer target, the Baron. Bite Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 for Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 3) + 7 = 12 and it uses it's Tail Slap: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 to strike at Ser Brandon, missing a chance to knock him prone.

That makes for two Fort Saves the Baron needs to make. Fort 1 from Previous: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 for the mite's pookey stick and Fort 2 from Bite Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5. The Baron loses 1d2 ⇒ 1 and 1d4 ⇒ 2 from his Dexterity, now down in total 5 points Dex and 21 HP damage.

The mite leader continues to shout curses and urge on the centipede.

"We must advance, there are too many people and hard corners in the way. I am casting gravity bow, it's my last spell, if I can't get a clear shot it will be lost. On Ser Brandon! On Sir Grailmont!"


Silas actually healed Echo for 14 points, as two of the points were non-lethal damage from the whiptail.

Echo Pookey Stick Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 Successful
Echo Bite Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Failed, for Dex Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1 and Echo must continuing making checks.

I will allow that Silas would have moved first to prevent an AoO disrupting his spell.

As Silas moves to a better position to cast his cure upon the Baron, his movement attracts the mites' attention, resulting in the Giant Centipede lashing out to attack the caster. Bite Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 for Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 1) + 7 = 12 and Silas will need to make a Fort Save please.

Mite F likewise attempts to strike the healer, jabbing with his Pookey Stick: 1d20 ⇒ 5 but misses. The mite then follows the healer, making a 5' step and stabbing instead at his patient as he realizes what the healer is attempting to do. Pookey Stick: 1d20 ⇒ 2 misses as the Baron, the mite pulling back at his chieftain's command, the stick missing the bluffing man's throat by mere inches.

The centipede, now free of tiny mites before it, compresses forward and assaults a stunned Grailmont, he defending at the last, he and Ser Brandon watching as Silas attempted to heal the Baron. Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 for Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 4) + 7 = 17 and Grailmont will need to make a Fort Save and then it's Tail Swipe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 tries to knock the warrior to his feet, doing Nonlethal Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2. The tail wraps around the warrior momentarily, Trip: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22, knocking the man to his arse.

Grailmont is Prone. He is lying on the ground. A prone attacker has a –4 penalty on melee attack rolls and cannot use a ranged weapon (except for a crossbow). A prone defender gains a +4 bonus to Armor Class against ranged attacks, but takes a –4 penalty to AC against melee attacks. Standing up is a move-equivalent action that provokes an attack of opportunity.

The mite leader shouts strangely once more, then makes a strange gesture, waving his hand at your band in a shooing manner, maybe offering you a chance to flee his tunnels, or perhaps intending some other vulgar option.

And Silas fails the fortitude save. However, he's now far enough away from the centipede to not provoke an AoO, and to fire at it without incurring the penalty for firing into melee. (Since it's 10' from any ally.)

Silas draws his bow and fires at the centipede.

Yes, it is reflected in my map, please use that. Also, the centipede has a reach of 15' with the bite, 20' with the tail so Silas would still provoke an AoO with the bow.

all four of Ayerths images draw and loose an arrow towards the monstrous centipede, but only one arrow actually flies fourth hurled with tremendous force from the Elven Magic.

Ser Brandon sees his companions struggle around him and worry lines his face. He steels himself and steps forward into combat with the giant centipede. He forms up in a defensive stance, raising his shield. "This isn't looking good. We need to rally, else we shall perish here." "To your feet, finish the last mite and come aid come fight. I'll hold this thing off as long as I can."

I thought bluff didn't work vs. vermin because they're mindless?


I assumed Echo was trying to bluff the mite and it's chieftain. They are not vermin, but fey.

The party's arrows strike true, wounding the centipede, which hisses and thrashes in pain from the shafts. The mite chieftain calls out orders in an angry clicking and hissing manner, seeing the party not respond favorably to his offer of truce.

Mite F takes a shot at Silas as he uses his bow in a threatened space, his Pookey Stick AoO: 1d20 ⇒ 16 missing. The mite then spins back and stabs downward at Grailmont, trying to sit up in the grease. Pookey Stick: 1d20 ⇒ 14, the stick missing the warrior's sword arm.

The Giant Centipede likewise threatens Silas' space, it's Whiptail: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 lashing out and nearly snatching the bow from the priest, only his buckler preventing a good grasp. The centipede then springs out, coiling and twisting at Ser Brandon with it's Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 but misses. The centipede lashes out again with it's Tail: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 at Silas but misses.

Do you guys want me to take full responsibility for rolling your saves?

Echo Save vs Bite: 1d20 ⇒ 13 fails for Dex Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3. This has been for a total 9 Dex damage thus far.
Silas Save vs Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 fails for Dex Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3.
Grailmont Save vs Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 successful
Grailmont Save vs Pookey Stick: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 successful

As the Centipede compacted and compressed itself, the mite leader rushed his mount forward, the tick coming to bear against Ser Brandon. Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 barely missing due to his Total Defense. The mite chieftain tosses a javelin at Ayerth, Ranged: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 missing as it has trouble focusing on which target is the wizard.

When I GM, I usually roll all saves except save-or-die, fear/blindness, or mind-affecting things that might change the players' actions. That seems to work alright.

Ser Brandon strikes at the mite behind not wanting to be surrounded by enemies and turns to focus on once again on the two foe before him. "Damned these cramped quarters. Make some way for the archers and spell caster. Get back, away from the beast's reach."

Feel free to roll saves for me. It keeps things moving faster.


Echo Save vs Bite: 1d20 ⇒ 16 for Dex Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4. This has been for a total 13 Dex damage thus far. A character with a Dexterity score of 0 is incapable of moving and is effectively immobile (but not unconscious).
Silas Save vs Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 for Dex Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4. This has been for a total 7 Dex damage thus far.

The Centipede compacts and strikes again at Grailmont, seeing fight still in the man. Bite: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 for Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 2) + 7 = 14. I believe that is 31 points total from the Centipede alone.

The creature uses it's Tail: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 to swipe out at Silas. It does Nonlethal Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1 and attempts to knock the priestly archer prone, Trip: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21 tugging at the legs and knocking Silas to the ground.

The Tick lunges at Ser Brandon Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27, Confirmation: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18. It's mandibles pierce the knight's leg armor for Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 and it's jaws attempt to lock tight around the warrior Grab: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21, holding fast and draining blood from the man's thigh. Ser Brandon will need to break the grapple to prevent stat loss from blood drain.

The Mite Chief throws a Javelin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 at Ayerth, Hit Chance 25%: 1d100 ⇒ 22. The poisoned shaft strikes Ayerth, Confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 for Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 = 7.

Grailmont Fort Save vs Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Success
Ser Brandon Fort Save vs Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 The bite wound flares up red and blotchy as the creature begins draining blood and desiccating the tissues.
Ayerth Fort Save vs Javelin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 Success

Pleased with his strike and the work of his insects, the Mite Chieftain again makes the strange hand gesture at the group, trying to shoo away those still standing.

Who needs healing? All the enemies would be hit by a channel right now, and I'm curious how close we are to dropping the centipede.

Yes. That's eight rounds for Orin so far, meaning the effect ends in two more rounds. I would then guess that Irakli's fear effect is done, thinking that it happened at least two rounds before Orin was affected, though I have not actually counted his.

Alright... Silas will move to Grailmont, provoking an AoO from the centipede, so that his spell does not.

Silas was actually knocked prone last round so could not have moved to the position desired and healed Grailmont. I will allow that he instead crawled 5' to the middle spot and healed Grailmont, the Centipede noticing and attempting to intervene with the casting.

Echo Save vs Bite: 1d20 ⇒ 9 for Dex Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1. This has been for a total 14 Dex damage thus far. A character with a Dexterity score of 0 is incapable of moving and is effectively immobile (but not unconscious).
Silas Save vs Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 for Dex Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1. This has been for a total 8 Dex damage thus far.

The centipede strikes out at Silas with it's whiptail as he attempts to cross the room to Grailmont, healing him but 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12, misses the elf as his tail strikes a few root bulbs from the ceiling. This was the AoO strike.

The Centipede then compacts and strikes again at Target #: 1d3 ⇒ 3 being Grailmont, seeing fight rising again in the man as his strength returns. Bite: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 for Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 5) + 7 = 16. I believe that is 31 minus 16 plus 16 points in total from the Centipede alone.

The creature uses it's 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 to swipe out at Silas once more. It does Nonlethal Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1 and again attempts to knock the priestly archer flat, Trip: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17 tugging at the priest's arms and knocking Silas to the ground flat upon his belly.

The Tick maintains it's lock upon Ser Brandon, draining 1 point each of Strength and Constitution. Instead of holding the bite, the chieftain raps the tick across the head with the butt of his javelin, causing it to release the warrior. The chieftain then makes a cooing sound and the centipede coils back a bit, away from it's foes.

The Mite Chief holds his javelin at the ready, the insects twitching, awaiting the chance to pounce. In a high pitched, nasal voice the chieftain wheezes, I wins, you loses. Stops and speakes yesss.

The mites did nothing. The centipede is impossible to fight in this particular cave, apparently.


The centipede is nearing death, so yes the 10 points did matter. That may be why the chieftain sought to hold the battle; maybe he did not want to lose the tribe's best defender. Also, the centipede was not meant to be fought here, but in a larger cavern beyond this room, but when the alarm was raised, they summoned it here.

If anyone in our group is able to tell the centipede is dying and think of a clever way to finish it off, that could be fun—but Silas is going to stay on the ground and listen at this point.
