Greetings, everyone!
Here's Ioxeia checking in. So, I gather Thorfinn is hunting giants, Gabriel is pursuing the arts, Chimaeryus has been mysteriously "dispatched" to us, and Petsha is here for the festival. As I posted in my profile, I'm on a bit of a grand tour, and trying to decide where to travel next in Varisia in search of arcane lore to gather for the libraries of the Mordant Spire, or if I should boldly strike out into the wilderness. I thought I would add one more detail as to why I'm in Sandpoint that I kept out of my background presentation in an attempt to keep it fairly concise. (I can be wordy.) Having passed several monuments of Thassilon on the way down, and naturally been intrigued, I'm currently trying to extract a comprehensive grammar of Thassilonian from the owner of Sandpoint's bookstore. I'll learn that language yet!
P.S.: Thanks for having me, Mr. Dak. I am awed by your enthusiasm, and I hope the lot of us in all your groups won't be too much of a hassle!
Petsha Zima |
@Ioxeia, I like that story. I barely got into the RotRL campaign with some friends (only the first encounter) and one was playing a half-orc magus studying Thassilonian as well! Great minds must think alike.
To paint a concise picture of my character: Petsha is the stereotypical (and perhaps offensive) gypsy (having been pick pocketed twice in real life by legitimate gypsies, I'm a bit jaded), who is no good at performances of any kind, so he sticks to the shadows where he can make money his own self-righteous way - stealing. As to why me and my family are in Sandpoint: Being lifelong travelers, we all are devout followers of Desna and have come to perform and enjoy the tribute to our Goddess.
I'll be reading everyone's profile tonight, can't wait to get started.

So, gypsy rogue, slightly standoffish masked elf magus, twisted mockery of science, holy bard, and driven dwarf. (There should be a fighter here too, ISTR.) A little shy on healing, but at least the bard and the dwarf can use CLW wands if/when we get any.
Chimaeryus |
I've got some talent in using wands of all sorts. I apologize in advance for seeming a bit standoffish.
nobody likes Gypsies, or Mordant Spire elves all that much so maybe I am in good company.
A brief description
Chimaeryus, is a mockery of the races he is comprimised of, he has the mottled grey skin of a half orc, the long pointed ears of the elf, and his yellow dragon eyes constantly weep due to the horrible rays of the sun. He enjoys the company of others, but finds most people are initially put off by him. He has a strangely magnetic personality and is prone to bouts of indecision. he would immediatly be drawn to the Mordant Spire elf both due to lineage and magical ability.

slightly standoffish masked elf ...
Is there any other kind? (Grins.) Somebody has to keep an eye on the coiling horrors that seethe below the sea, and if that means keeping secrets...
As far as healing goes, if we find ourselves really struggling and a logical opportunity presents itself, I would be amenable to dabbling in witchery, though (woe!) the skirnir archetype is not compatible with the hexcrafter. But hopefully I'll eventually be able to convince wands to do what I want, and Chimaeryus already has a head start.

B is for bard. I even own a scroll of CLW. I think we'll be able to manage.
I didn't mean to tread on your toes, or to insinuate that we'll have trouble; I thought I'd just float the idea, so you wouldn't think that we were expecting you to spend precious spells known on emergency healing. I may be projecting my own obsessive anxieties about spontaneous casters' limits on spells known - which is one reason why I prefer playing prepared casters - or I may just be paranoid.
Gallus Domitus |
Greetings all. Thanks to GM Dak to taking on so many groups.
Little late to the party but hard to believe you would forget the towering warrior. Oh well, hopefully I can stand out later. :)
As for healing (swinging his glaive from side to side) lets make them worry about that.
Thorfinn Feigrsson |
Outstanding! The fighter's here! I didn't forget you, I was going by checkins (and looking anxiously at the door). Thorfinn and Ioxeia aren't bad frontline combatants, we'd just like to have another body up there with us. And as far as Chimaeryus is concerned, the more meat shields the better, right?
Re curing, Gabriel has two or three CLWs/day; that's way better than no healing at all, but a cleric with the Healing domain can do the same, and still have three or four channels and five or six rebuke deaths in their pocket. We'll just have to take Gallus' advice and hit them hard before they can hit us.

@All
Thanks for posting and getting to know one another. I am still finishing up some prep (wife took me on a little mini-vacation this weekend that ate into prep time). I am hoping to finish up by Wed at which point I'll post the link to Roll20 and open up the campaign thread.
Thanks for your patience can't wait to get started!

How sweet! I hope you had a good time. Thanks for letting us know how you're getting on, but please don't rush on our account; we don't want you to have any less fun, and you're managing quite the bunch of us between the groups!
GM Dak |
Ok, gaemplay and campaign threads are now both open above. Please take a look at the campaign thread to see important information. Also note I haven't put up the link for Roll20 yet as I am putting on some finishing touches today I'll make sure to post here and put in the link up at the top of the page when it is ready.

Responding to/following on after Ioxeia here. It's an interesting and almost completely unlinked group we have here; apart from Gabriel and Petsha, I'm having trouble seeing any of our characters giving each other more than a courteous (at best) nod as we pass by. We're mostly loners, we are. If Chimaeryus comes out of his room long enough to be there when the fighting starts, though, we'll be able to become allies of convenience. Which is enough to start with.

Ha! True enough, and what a glorious band of raggle-taggle adventurers we are! Honestly, though, my main concern in sketching my background was to have a bit of a story, without drawing it out too much, rather than disconnected meta snippets, though I’ll be happy to put some here. I’m not entirely sure about where various aspects of Ioxeia’s character are going to go, such as her faith, off the top of my head, and in the meantime I’m hoping to get a feel for the fey-ness (just plain weirdness?) of the Mordant Spire elves, but I do hope to develop her sense of fun. Making her gentry makes it a bit trickier, but we'll see. In terms of overall character direction, within the broad range of how that would work out among Golarion elves generally, though, I’m thinking of a cross between an Amazon and a heroine from the Ulster Cycle. So I’m thinking of letting the epics influence my spell selection, shield feats, and I’m looking for a charioteer. ;)

Yes a nice drawing I found. Although it's not really a lighthouse :D
Forgot to note, once you've had a chance to login to the Roll20 page, let me know your name on Roll20 so I can associate you with the correct character so you can move them around. I'll also be adding at least their HP and AC for me to keep track in battles easier :)
GM Dak |
Thanks all.
Also a note to all, I've been subpoenaed for jury duty. We are still going through jury selection but I haven't been dismissed yet. Usually I can post several times a day but this is going to limit it to once or twice a day, maybe a couple extra if I can sneak it in on breaks.

Hello, everyone!
This is just to let you know that I'll be travelling to a conference this weekend, so from tomorrow to late-ish on Monday I might be posting a bit erratically. I don't actually expect any trouble with keeping up, but there might be one overnight delay or so what with wifi access vagaries while travelling.
GM Dak |
Just a note, I am heading out of town unexpectantly tomorrow through next Friday. I should be able to still post at least once a day, but there is the potential for me to miss one or two days. Bear with me, I'll do my best to keep up with things while I'm out of town with limited access to internet.
