Gelgish Stoneblinder |
@Darpan: haha, yeah, that is rarely a good sign!
OK, so looks like they are not charging us but rather moving into the fort on their side. A bit unexpected, but OK. If I'm correct on that....
Gelgish continues laying prone, waiting for Chavana and Darpan to continue their barrage. Dropping in initiative until Chavana and Darpan run out of targets or an enemy begins crossing the bridge.
GM Dak |
Gelgish lies in wait as the goblins run toward the fort. One goblin opens the door and appears to be giving commands to the dogs. The other two run inside yelling something. The goblin dogs bark and growl, standing at the end of the bridge.
Round 1
Gelgish, Goblins, >Ulrich, ???, Darpan, Chavana
Chavana Haoul |
Chavana fires at one of the lead Goblin Dogs, closest to the bridge.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
She'll have 5 bolts remaining after this. Yep, she doesn't use ranged much, but I'm glad she can help some way... even failing.
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
The Bear remains prone, but eases a javelin into his hand. He won't act until the goblins are on the bridge or the situation changes:
GM Dak |
A pair of goblins pops up from each of the watch towers and take aim at Darpan and Chavana.
Attack-D: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 - 2 = 15
Attack-D: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 - 2 = 10
Attack-C: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 2 = 4
Attack-C: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 2 = 20
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
While most of the arrows get stuck in the thick overgrowth partially protecting you, one breaks through sticking into Chavana. Ulrich and Chavan fire at the goblin dogs but they have no luck with any connecting.
???: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Round 2
>Gelgish, Goblins, ???, Ulrich, Tower Goblins, Darpan, Chavana
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
Gelgish craned his neck up to take in the scene from his prone position. Seeing that no one was charging the group from over the bridge, a change in plan seemed in order. Keeping his voice hushed to avoid it carrying over the bridge he said, Darpan, Chavana, find some cover and then return fire. I'm coming to help. With that, Geglish strapped his dorn-durger around his waist and pulled out his bow.
Move action to out away melee weapon, move action to draw bow. Still prone for now.
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
"We could pull back a bit... make them come to us! The bridge and this passage will make for a choke-point regardless..."
GM Dak |
Gelgish gets ready to aid in the ranged attacks while still lieing on the ground. The goblins having run into the fort disappear from sight as they go through various doors. You see an additional goblin appear in the western tower.
Round 2
Gelgish, Goblins, ???, >Ulrich, Tower Goblins, Darpan, Chavana
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
Growling at the cowardice of the vermin, Ulrich stands and launches a javelin at them before dropping to the ground again.
Javelin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
GM Dak |
Ulrich tosses a javelin, and even though the distance is great he manages to connect with the lead goblin dog. The javelin slices across the dogs side leaving a big gash, but it still stands guard on the bridge.
The archers unleash a barrage of arrows at Chavana and Darpan.
Attack-C: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Attack-C: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Attack-D: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Attack-D: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Half the arrows get caught in the foilage, one arrow each hits Chavana and Darpan.
Round 2
Gelgish, Goblins, ???, Ulrich, Tower Goblins, >Darpan, Chavana
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
@GM: wouldn't the goblin attacks get a range increment penalty? I'm also thinking that we'd get a cover bonus to A C given the foliage over here. Does that make sense?
Darpan Bala Manujyestha |
Darpan will deflect the arrow that comes at him, and the first arrow that hits any time he is attacked-Deflect Arrows Feat
Swatting the incoming arrow out of his way, Darpan fires twice again at the goblin dogs.
Attack-ranged: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Attack-ranged: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
Ulrich again rises to throw a javelin at the same dog before dropping to the ground.
Javelin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
Seeing the goblin dogs not charging the party surprised Gelgish. Not known for their discipline, goblin dogs. Goblins either, for that matter Since the dogs seemed content to eat The Bear's javelins for the time being, Gelgish decided to try his hand at the watchtower goblins. Ensuring he stayed prone and with some foliage between him and the bulk of the goblins on the watchtower, the dwarf took a shot with his composite bow at one of the archers.
I'm assuming Gelgish could get a shot off at a goblin from where he is at. They'll definitely have cover against him, and he's probably a range increment out, but he'll give it a shot.
Attac 1d20 + 5 - 6 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 6 = 5
Damage, if hits 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
You can't shoot any weapon from prone except crossbow. Prone
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
Ah. Well then, he'd stand from prone, shoot, then drop back to prone a la Ulrich
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
OK then, he would just stand up from prone and move up to his current position on the map
GM Dak |
Gelgish moves up with the others to start firing back on those defending. From inside the fort a w hole little army of goblins begin to spill out in the front goblins with bows line the other side of the bridge as one of them shouts something in goblin and the two remaining dogs charge forward. Behing them you see some more heavily armor goblins carrying bigger weapons come out followed by another goblin and finally a coblin mounted on an oversized lizard.
The archers in the towers unleash a volley of arrows at the party.
Attack-G: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Attack-G: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Attack-G: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Attack-D: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Attack-D: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack-D: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Attack-D: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
The barrage of arrows comes flying down, though Gelgish is able to stay out of the path of the ones aimed at him. Darpan is not quite as lucky as three of the arrows stick into him.
-7 hp
Round 3
Gelgish, Ulrich, Enemies, >Darpan, Chavana
Darpan Bala Manujyestha |
LOl..no problem...the one thing with Pathfinder is all the bonus, buff, debuff, pluses, etc, etc...gets very confusing quickly!! Kinda why I am liking the new 5th edition right now...
Darpan grimaces as the goblin's arrow slices into his leg. Gritting his teeth, he fires another volley at the goblins. (one at Goblin #3, the other at #5)
Attack-ranged: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Confirm Crit: Attack-ranged: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Attack-ranged: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Chavana Haoul |
Chavana fires one last time before the dogs arrive.
"They are well aware of us. Now would be the time to fall back."
attack Goblin Dog 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Critical Confirmation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
possible critical damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
The bear nods at Chavana, "Yes, let's pull back and bring them to us at a choke-point. If they don't follow we can come back and pick them off one at a time." With that Ulrich moves back to a more serviceable position to ambush them from.
I think the point where he has chosen should work well...
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
Seeing the goblin troops massing, Side Note: How good would Fireball be right now...just sayin' Gelgish grunts in agreement to the idea of pulling back. Let's get just out of bow range from their side and make a stand. Instead of taking a shot with his bow, the dwarf darted back down the trail.
Double move to current location on the map.
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
Good point.
Retcon:
After stating his desire to fall back, the Bear stands up and hurls a javelin at one of the goblin dogs. He then readies his polearm to cover the group's retreat.
Javelin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
Ah, yeah, don't really want to do that to Darpan. Retcon as well...
Gelgish scrambled back a bit, then launched an arrow at the remaining goblin dog on the bridge.
Attack 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage, if hits 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
GM Dak |
Darpan takes out the goblin about to start across the bridge with an arrow through the eye. His other shot misses completely though. Chavana shots a well placed bolt into one of the goblin dogs thighs. It yelps in pain just as Ulrich tosses a javeling that skewers the best causing it to fall off the bridge into the surf below. Gelgish lets out a shot at the other goblin dog but it moves out of the way avoiding the incoming arrow.
The goblin dog runs at Ulrich trying to bit him as a group of tougher looking goblins works it's way through the archers and advances on the bridge. Another goblin steps up and starts singing some horrid sounding song, which appears to bolster the confidence of the other goblins. The one riding the lizard shouts out order in goblin while moving up closer to the bridge. The remaining goblins launch a volley of arrows at Darpan and Ulrich.

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
G10-D: 1d20 + 4 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 4 + 1 = 16
The goblin dog isn't able to get a hold of Ulrich and most of the arrows once again get stuck in the overgrowth. Two however find their way toward Darpan. While he is able to knock one out of the sky the other still connects.
Round 4
Gelgish, Ulrich, Enemies, >Darpan, Chavana
Chavana Haoul |
Chavana, fearful of her friends wound states, and seeing a larger than expected contingent of goblins coming, chooses to channel energy, omitting the goblin dog, after advancing as far away as is safe
Channel: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12
Edit: Yay Box Cars!
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
Going ahead to post Gelgish's actions for the top of next round. Darpan is the only one left to go this round, and Gelgish's action presume Darpan is going to move well back of his current position.
Seeing some of the enemy approaching, Gelgish follows Chavana and moves back from the frontline and out of sight of the goblin archers.
Move action back to current location on the map, then ready an action to strike any opponent that gets within range of his reach weapon. If his current location is not out of range of the archers, he'll forgo the readied action for a double move to get out of the archers' sight.
GM Dak |
Chavana moves back calling on the divine powers of her god to heal those around her. Any injuries have healed over leaving just a slight tingly sensation. Darpan moves back and takes aim at the last goblin dog. The arrow flies true going in one ear and out the other as the goblin dog drops to the groun unmoving.
Gelgish follows the others back as everyone prepares to meet the uncoming goblins.
Round 5
Gelgish, >Ulrich, Enemies, Darpan, Chavana
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
I believe Ulrich has limited internet connectivity this week. Looking at the map, I'm fairly confident his next move is back to the square just in front of Chavana. Should we go with that to keep the game moving?
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
The Bear backs up and readies his pole arm to prepare to strike anyone who approaches.
"Continue the withdrawal..."
GM Dak |
Ulrich moves back with the others. You hear the shouts and jabbering of the goblins as they approach. The first batch close in with their long horschoppers ready to attack while the remaining goblins follow behind.
Round 5
Gelgish, Ulrich, Enemies, >Darpan, Chavana
Darpan Bala Manujyestha |
Darpan takes a step back and fires two arrows at the goblins in front of him.
Attack-ranged: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Attack-ranged: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
@Darpan and Ulrich: you both are healed to full after Chavana's last channel.
Do we want to make a stand where we are at or continue backing up?
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
We need to move to a larger area where we aren't crouching/squeezed.
Gelgish Stoneblinder |
We could try to move to the area the last batch of goblin dogs came from (4-5 squares west from Ulrich's current position on the map). I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be squeezing there. If I'm right, that works for me. However, if we don't make at least a mini-stand here, Darpan will get swarmed when the goblins go again.
Gelgish darted around the assembled party members to get a better shot at one of the approaching goblins. Swinging his dorn durger as he moved, he pulled it taut at he arrived next to The Bear to let the weapon drop down on the goblin facing him. As he did he said to his comrades. Keep moving back, we can face 'em better where the dogs came from!
Move action to current position on the map, and attack Commmando #1 with reach weapon.
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage, if hits 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
GM Dak |
Darpan launches two more arrows one hits the target, though these goblins appear to be made of tougher stuff than the usual goblin. It snaps the end of the arrow off as it advances. Chavan steps back behind the others waiting to in case anyone sustains major injuries. Darpan moves up attempting to smash one of the goblins with his weapon b ut it dodges out of the way.
Round 6
Gelgish, >Ulrich, Enemies, Darpan, Chavana
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli |
The Bear seems to be concentrating hard on the battle, not letting his rage take him. Move, quickly! he shouts to his companions amid this odd concentration. However, once a goblin steps forward the Bear lets out a growling laugh, swinging at the goblin. He then holds position as to allow his companions to back away to a better position.
Delay action to behind the enemies. Rage when taking an Attack of Opportunity, holding for the most wounded one to move into range (assuming they advance). Normal Attack with Rage +4 Str, Power Attack, Combat Expertise for any AoO he earns.
AoO Guisarm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (1, 2) + 10 = 13
GM Dak |
Ulrich, just to clarify the leading goblins also have reach weapons so none will move within range to give you an AoO, though with your delayed action you can wait for the others to retreat, make an attack and move back yourself. Just let me know, since they having reach weapons may not have been clear.
