GM Cwethan |
Please give the following information for your characters:
1. Player Name (as you want it on your chronicle):
2. Character's Name
3. Class and Level
4. PFS# (and dash)
5. Faction
6. Day job Roll (if any)
And I'd appreciate a heads up about anything wacky with your character, especially if you have any Immediate Actions that we should work out/are playing slow progression etc.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
1. Gerald
2. Tessara Omelion PFS
3. Witch 8
4. 12445-6
5. The Grand Lodge
6. Day Job Craft Alchemy 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
Ursahla |
I know the signup sheet says 7-8, but I'm guessing this is actually subtier 8-9, as specials prior to season 5 had subtiers 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 8-9, 10-11. Might be good for the level 7s to know they are playing up.
1. Player Name Michael Hallet
2. Character's Name Ursahla
3. Class and Level Swashbuckler 1/Ranger 6/Vigilante 1
4. PFS# (and dash) 2608-2
5. Faction Exchange
6. Day job Roll (if any)
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21 Information Brokerage
Has Opportune Parry and Riposte.
Her ranger combat style is faithful (Besmara) and as such is a specialist in dirty tricks, so you might want to familiarize yourself with the rules on that.
Often uses disguises.
GM Cwethan |
That guess about the subtier makes a lot of sense. I don't have the actual scenario yet (should be dropping soon), but I'll make sure to be as transparent as possible on that front once I have the full information. With the 5 people currently signed up we're currently at an APL of 8, so level 7's would be OOS.
Re Opportune Parry & Riposte: My preference is that you pre-roll those in a spoiler... which a quick glance at your posting history shows is your method so we should be good!
Seren's Seven |
1. Player Name Daniel
2. Character's Name Seren's Seven
3. Class and Level Spirit Dancer Medium 7
4. PFS# 104845-10
5. Faction Scarab Sages
6. Day job Roll Performance(Dance): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
1.) Seren is a Spirit Dancer, so unlike a standard medium she actually has a mechanic similar to if you combined Barbarian rage with bard song. She dances as a free action and chooses her spirit then, and after she stops she has a 1 minute cooldown before she can dance again. It basically means I can choose roles combat to combat, and anyone close to her gets bonuses based on the spirit just by being near rather than participating in a seance.
2.) She has haunt channeler, which means she can't be surprised by haunts, and if one manages to go off I default to her auto-failing the roll so it possesses her, but can't effect the party.
3.) This one is spoilery
I am fine playing up, if I have to I can take on more support-focused roles instead of standing up front! I ran this years ago, so I don't remember most of it, but I pulled up my old PDF and Ursahla is right, we'd be tier 8-9, since it goes 5-6 8-9
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Player Name: Rogar Valertis
Character's Name: Rogar Valertis Alastoris
Class and Level: Fighter 08
PFS#: 100733-1
Faction: Sovereign Court
Day job Roll: Profession (soldier): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Notes: Nothing strange, he hits pretty hard and can fly once a day.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
I’m confused, why is a 2nd level Paladin posting in the gameplay thread?
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Ahem... I could have posted that by mistake... Everything was edited already, nothing to see 'round here, folks!
Btw, I would be grateful if you could erase Thror noxious personality from this game. He's currently occupied witha different mission and does not belong here, at all...
And, since we are here, I'd like to spend 1 PP and get the Noble Title from the PFS Field guide.
Ansha Saeralyan PFS |
1. Player Name (as you want it on your chronicle): Ansha
2. Character's Name Ansha Saeralyan
3. Class and Level Wizard (manipulator) 6/Enchanting Courtesan 1
4. PFS# (and dash) 16188-3
5. Faction Dark Archive
6. Day job Roll (if any) Profession (courtesan): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
FYI I will be driving cross-country from tomorrow to Saturday, so I may be a bit slow/sparse with posts for the first few days.
GM Cwethan |
No worries Ansha, though when you do have a moment I would appreciate it if you could fill in some basic stats into your tagline (Classes/Levels is a traditional place for them). It's very helpful to me if I can see your hp, ACs, Saves, Perception, Initiative et al. while looking at the thread.
Thanks!
Seren's Seven |
So for when things inevitably hit the fan, how would the rest of the party want me to default act? Seren could act like a sort of bard giving +2 attack/+4 damage to the melee and +2 spell damage to the casters. Or she could play the healer/buffer role, or her standard walk up and hit things.
She can can also go archmage for some weak nuking, but we already have a pair of arcane casters.
She can change per combat, so it's not hard locked in for the day/scenario like a normal medium. I just want to fill the role we need most.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Well, I'd say Seren needs to act as appropriate for the situation we'll find ourselves in. As a melee fighter Rogar would be naturally pleased with the buffs, but it could be Seren would be more useful as an healer/blaster. Depends on the encounter, really.
Ansha Saeralyan PFS |
Tess: you can make an escape artist check as an immediate action to break the grapple thanks to Seren's liberating command.
GM Gustavef |
Allo. Just catching up. Looks like you are down to the final rounds. Will review and post in game play
GM Gustavef |
Just a quick sum up as I see things. Let me know if I am missding anything
Robe guy and beast are dead.
Driver is running, but Seren is able to catch up this round
Three blind guards are still standing with some wounds
Ursahla |
As far as I know, robe guy is uninjured, just invisible. "Gone" was for those of use without Spellcraft when he made himself invisible.
Seren's Seven |
The Robe guy is still up. He's just invisible, so he's "gone" because only part of the party can see him. He just cast Black Tentacles.
Otherwise I think you're right.
Edit: Ursahla beat me to it!
GM Gustavef |
Got it. Now to make Cwethan look like the nice one :)
GM Cwethan |
Hey guys, I'll be on again tomorrow to post, but I currently don't have access to the scenario! I'm traveling and the wi-fi where I'm staying is insufficiently fast or stable enough to re-download the file. Posting shouldn't be a problem once I've got that sorted, but I'll be on pause until I can get to an internet cafe sometime tomorrow.
Gm Gustavef thanks for stepping in, and I'd really appreciate it if you could extend your tour for another half-day or so.
GM Gustavef |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
No worries. Combat should be done, and you can wrap it up. Now to go back and die honorably on my table.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Thanks Gustavef! You almost killed me!
Just marking here that my Aegis of Recovery has been used. I’m not going to change my profile as I’m going to buy another one as soon as this adventure is over and I have a chance. It’s too much to type again, lol.
GM Gustavef |

Its was fun, and I would have blamed Cwethan for your death anyway :) It is his table. My hands would have been clean.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Oh, DM would there be enough downtime for Tess to attempt to learn he spells we can captured from the wizard? I’m sure Ansha might be interested as well!
Ansha |
I think dispel magic, glitterdust, and shield are the only three Ansha would have an immediate use for. Although Ansha would also be duly horrified when she found out witches destroy the source material from which they teach their familiars spells. (Even if it shouldn't affect anything in PFS Chronicles, she's a wizard--the thought of destroying a spellbook appalls her.)
Tessara Omelion PFS |
After Ansha learns what she wants, Tess would certainly try to tear through the witch spells in that book that she doesn’t have. Over the days of course, not just trying to cram all them into one day.
Ursahla |
So it sounds like we have to make a choice to stay and fight or leave and chase after the key. Ursahla would choose to leave, but will follow your lead rather than abandon the rest of you.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Well, this scenario has already turned us into rogues, murder hobos and the like, so I too say we head out after the key.
Seren's Seven |
Seren is good aligned, but she's also interested in saving her own hide and figures she can fix their ghosts later. So she's fine jumping out a window!
Ursahla |
Once Rogar had seen everyone else leave, would it not have been possible for Rogar to come out of delay before the cultists acted so that he could leave as well?
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Possibly so, but I wasn't able to post and check out on the boards until my last post when the stone wall was already up, I suppose Rogar lost his delayed action as well (if the wall was already set up and Rogar still had his delayed action he would have moved near the blue cultist and tried to cut him down instead of reaching for the dais, those 2 rolls of 20 would have worked beautifully I think).
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
To further elaborate on the point above:
-If allowed Rogar would have fled the cathedral with his companions once he realized they wanted to run after the assassin.
-If the wall of stone went up before Rogar could use his delayed action but he got that action still he would have cursed and charged the nearby cultist (which would have resulted in him taking a critical hit from his greatsword). If that would have killed the cultist Rogar would have charged the other cultist nearby with his following action.
-If none of the above can happen Rogar just loses his delayed actions, so he moves up the dais and waits for the nearby cultist to cast again before shooting at him, hoping to prevent another spell being cast.
GM Cwethan |
That all seems reasonable, I just felt that narrating Rogar leaving with the group off of:
"Once all hell breaks loose Rogar stands amidst the fleeing crowds brandishing his sword and pointing it at the upcoming cultists:"You will regret this... fools!" he shouts, waiting for the invaders to come closer."
would have been a bit railroady on my part :p
So with a wave of my magic GM wand...
It's time for everyone's favorite subsystem - a Chase!
For those who aren't familiar here's a brief rundown:
A character may attempt to move three squares during his turn by taking a full-round action. That character must overcome both obstacles on the square he is leaving. In this case, if a character fails either obstacle check by 5 or less, he only moves one square forward and his turn ends. If a character fails either obstacle check by more than 5, he cannot move at all that turn. A character unfortunate enough to fail two obstacle checks in a turn becomes mired in his current square. A mired character must spend another full-round action becoming unmired, effectively losing his next turn.
A character can also choose to make a ranged attack or cast a spell during his turn in a chase. If the action is a full-round action, he can’t move at all. Use the number of squares and their established distances (in this case, 30 feet) to determine ranges as necessary. The terrain where the chase takes place might provide the target partial or even full cover or concealment. A character can only choose to make melee attacks against targets that are in the same square.
Generally speaking for this chase if you are 1 card away there's clear line of sight, 2 cards away there's cover and concealment, 3 cards away there's improved cover and concealment, more than that and you have no LOS/LOE
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Thanks for the ruling GM. Considering his personality, Rogar would have charged the enemy but not if the rest of his companions decided otherwise.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Tess is flying. Does the +10 apply to all obstacles, or just to certain ones, Ansha?
