Vayde nods sagely at Khellek's choice. "Indeed. A rather charming young woman attended the bid last year who selected the same costume. As it turns out, she had some of the noble garuda's blood flowing through her veins. Ah, but what did that have to do with this besides a simple choice in costume...? Forgive me, my mind wanders in my old age, and with it, my mouth. Go on, friend Khellek, and may you have the same success as her."

I may have forgotten to say it anywhere, but successfully impressing the host gives you a +2 on Influence checks against them for the rest of the scenario.

Khellek later finds the old Petronax again, sitting down before a short period of dancing wore him out entirely. "Wise words, friend Khellek," he puffs, apologizing for his shortness of breath. "And given the truth of them as well, I cannot afford to ignore them, now, can I? Hegio? Hegio! Where is that dwarf?" Giving up, he clicks his bony fingers for one of his aides, instructing them to up his bid on the Scriptum. Shortly after, a rarely-seen old business partner of his makes an appearance and he hastens to greet them, to the extent of his ability to move. Khellek feels the Pathfinders are close to getting him to make a bid Myrosype cannot hope to match, and Vayde has, inadvertently or not, the historian cannot tell, bequeathed his trade specialties to him.

Another success for Vayde Petronax! You didn't beat the DC by 10 or more, but you did by 5, so you gained a piece of Analyze information. The only available piece was his trade interests, so now Beronûsh knows them.

Taking care to select wisely she finds the costume of a Lyrakien fitting. When properly attired the normaly shyish elf feels a bit more self-confidence and when approached by the sage Vayde she gives him a genuine smile.
"Mylord, I have to thank you for the opportunity to wear a costume like this. I always, well maybe not dreamed but mused about the Lyrakien. They are messangers and travelers, and enjoy to visit the most beautiful places. And, thinking about the beautiful city of Alabastrine, this would be a place they would love to visit. Imagine the moonlight and stars above us. Like a Lyrakien, tonight, I wish to bring sage council and distract from the worries of the day and encourage others to just enjoy the moment. Moving onward to Cyran Androtus Electra starts about the connection of the working end and the Luminous wharf and that the wharf as connection between land and sea is a wonderful example of the dual nature of the planes of water and earth. Conjuring a small wind elemental to dance with her familiar she adds that a great wizard like Cyran is also an exemplar for herself.

Vayde grins to an alarming extent, showing most of the inside of his mouth in the process. "Go on, then, Electra, and do what you can to enlighten those within. Wealth and power can go to one's head, and as such the wealthy could use all the help they can afford." The Pathfinders are likely loath to ask how he knows their names.

Electra then begins to talk planar politics and dualities with the more established elven mage, who is dressed in an inevitable mask. He is mightily impressed by her use of like things and metaphor. "Although I have not taken an apprentice in more than a century, I must admit you have great potential," he offers her one of his rare grins and a nod of the head. He then speaks rather bluntly. "I am sure you have an ulterior motive for getting me to purchase a district, and given the organization you work for and the affiliations of Myrosype, I can guess. I will also admit, however, I care little for the why, in this matter at the very least. I fulfill your request because it has been many a year since I have heard such a well-formulated argument, with the facts to back it. I will increase my bid-" he gestures to a nearby bidding slip, which writes a larger amount than before on itself and float in what is presumably Hegio's direction "-But I may require more convincing to champion your cause fully. I am sure you can provide me with such food for thought. If you will excuse me, however, something is about to happen. Perhaps I should alter the parameters of the contingency-"

As he says the last two-some sentences, someone lightly taps his shoulder, likely trying to get his attention. Without any flash of light, nor burst of sound, a shiner, more imposing version of this appears. It immediately squares up as if summoned for combat, putting itself between Cyran and the now-cowering man who touched him. "Cessation of physical contact with client requested before violence need ensue," it states mechanically. Having already done so, as soon as the creature appeared, in fact, the offender has little to do but scuttle away. The guests around Cyran, Electra, and this towering behemoth look on in confusion and fear. "My apologies, Hanuman, false alarm," Cyran says smoothly to it, clearly more at ease talking to it than most humanoids. "I will alter the specifics of our agreement to lessen such occurrences. Here, for your ongoing battle against the entropic forces of the multiverse." He hands Hanuman a small satchel that appears to be full of diamonds, and it disappears just as suddenly as it came. "Sorry about that. Hanuman is an inevitable I call to protect me when needed." It is difficult to say, but you get the feeling that whole incident was engineered to teach you some form of lesson, or perhaps not. "I believe you will one day reach this new form of battlefield, Electra, you and your teammates. You will have much physical and magical power, and perhaps be less able to use it. Perhaps you will be as wealthy and influential as I one day. Suffice to say, when that day comes, I will not be surprised."

Electra, you have passed the DC by more than 10 (more than 15, in fact) and as such may choose two successes or one success and a piece of Analyze information. The only remaining piece is his trade interests, just so you know. Perhaps waiting to see if Beronûsh manages to impress Vayde first would be prudent.

Magga, with the aid of Khellek, successfully locates a Div costume among a massive box of such livery. She tries to put on the appropriate performance and explain her choice, but Vayde is not particularly blown away, as well as being miffed that a real, towering inevitable had appeared at his gala not several minutes ago. He waves her aside with a simple, "Indeed, good choice and go on, Magga," although his knowledge of the names of seemingly everyone in attendance is beginning to prove unsettling.

Magga, Khellek tried to uncover Temel's weaknesses last round, and though successful, there are no weaknesses under the appropriate listing in his stat block. Just most of his Influence skills, written again, and the fact that he is humble among the other bidders, which you already knew. Feel free to retcon your check whenever.

Good point, Magga. So long as you don't retcon to an Influence check, which has penalties for failure :)

Riceak, recounting what he noted about Irith at the brunch, tells everyone else about what he saw a failed shill try on the councilwoman, to their detriment. She is still aggressively proud, he says, and though she seems to know she is bound to lose districts, she comports herself fabulously. Those who insinuate she is to lose ground are generally met with an incredible tongue-lashing.

Those who voice the opinion she will lose districts in the bidding process, take a -4 penalty on Influence checks against her.

sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
but can't seem to detect any

Sovereign Court

Bandits of Immenwood | Before the Dawn

Not actually seeing Beronûsh's injuries, Vayde believes the half-elf to be, at first, some strange being of the Outer Sphere masquerading as a humanoid. Something akin to a reversal of the elderly Petronax's intended setup for his event. Until, unbeknownst to most in the room, he magically scans the young sorcerer, finding no traces of magical veils or (temporary) transformations. "You bear a very strange gift, although you may not view it as such," the old man remarks rather bluntly. "Perhaps in time you will open your eyes to the inner beauty of this form of power. Until then, go on, Beronûsh, and have a pleasant, informative evening."

Beronûsh, Vayde's weakness has already been identified. I may need to make the spreadsheet clearer, but when the bias, strength, or weakness column is filled by a hyphen, there is no applicable answer, or it's effect has already been discovered and calculated into an NPC's statistics. For this case, his weakness was that if a PC mentioned his wish to acquire the Scriptum, they receive an additional success. The columns that are still blank have yet to be discovered. I'll let you retcon your roll if you'd like, because for you, unlike Magga, there are certain Influence checks you can still make with your roll of 6. However, given the always-present possibility of failure by a large margin, you can also stick to your current check and receive nothing instead of a potential penalty.

Electra, do you want two successes against Cyran or one and his trade interests, for Beronûsh's purposes?

Electra, that's essentially it. Given that taking the extra success would put you at 3, which I can say doing quite well for round 2, so that's probably the better choice.

Cyran nods at Khellek's proposal, deep in thought. "While I may not be at liberty to join your precious Society, I could certainly seek an alliance, cooperate with you. I may be more powerful than many of your agents, but it is always a good opportunity to be around those who routinely discover powerful artifacts." Success!

He turns to Magga and frowns. "Perhaps I can do that as well. Granted, I am not sure how the organizations within your Society would react to my working with more than one, as I am, pardon me for my lack of humility, a rather powerful and learned mage. I have also had some short correspondences with certain Jeweled Sages, and our opinions have differed rather dramatically." It is difficult to tell if this is true or he, simply not being convinced, he is making an excuse.

Vayde is also an applicable target for your FJC goal.

Hmm . . . I need to recruit somebody, to impress Khellek. Who else is a scholar? To most observers, it seems as if Magga walks up to the elderly Petronax patriarch and punches his shoulder. Thankfully, the old man has no protective wards, at least akin to those of Cyran. A few particularly reclusive Kalistocrats, not very initiated in warrior's greetings, seem about to call in a squad of Blackjackets, until they are enlightened by their peers. "Interested as I am in such forms of history and magic, I am unable to commit myself right now," Vayde winces, tapping his shoulder with a wand drawn from his belt. "I have been taking part in too many activities at present than my age allows, such as this bid, and as such I don't think I have enough time in my schedule."

No dice there, sadly. Your DC is 19, right?

Vayde looks down at the halfling, something he is rarely able to do courtesy of his arthritic joints. Granted, you may have yet to realize your grand destiny is still ahead of you. Go on, Hakotep Flaxseed, Pharaoh of all Halflings."

Perhaps a mite confused, Hakotep "goes on" to talk to Alabastrine's current Lord-Councilor. She listens to his speech, smiling throughout, although bristling ever so slightly when he says "a" district, and at the end shakes her head as if she had forgotten something. "It appears I don't get out enough. There aren't many halflings in Druma, most of them are servants, and it's easy to-" She suddenly stops, realizing a slight error. "No, not slaves! I assure you, all are well-paid in our little paradise. My apologies. As I was saying, it's so easy to forget how naturally gifted you stout folk are at sweet-talking. I have forgotten much today. Your peoples' innately honeyed tongues, and a bit of myself. Why should I abstain from bidding, should I lose a district or two? Has anyone else forgotten who I am?! I am Irith Nomazmo!" She slams a hand down on the nearest table, and quickly scribbles a bid. "Very well. I believe I will start with the Prophet's Burg - and thank you, kind Pharaoh, for your assistance. My event is tomorrow afternoon, I hope to see you there. Perhaps I would have lost myself entirely were it not for the actions of you and your Society." She smiles once more, honors Hakotep with a deep bow, and strides away.

One success for Irith! Your roll would not have made it, but her weakness, combined with discovering one of the two parts of her bias, saved the day.

My apologies for all that, if you want to know more I can talk to you or, to avoid my potential bias, send you a transcript of my PM conversation with Riceak. Anyway, let's move on from that as quickly as humanoidly possible.

Temel Passad, dressed in the regalia of an archon, beckons the Pathfinders over excitedly. "Hurry, gather up, they're about to announce the latest results!" The team quickly reassembles and stares up at a raised balcony on a higher floor, where Hegio and his accompanying mage stand. As each district and their current highest bidder are announced, the mage causes an ornate silk banner with what seems to be golden filigree made to show the winner's first initial to unfurl over the balcony's edge.

"Leading the bid on the Courts of Abstinence...Temel Passad!"

"Leading the bid on the Prophet's Burg...Irith Nomazmo!"

"Leading the bid on the Scriptum...Vayde Petronax!"

"Leading the bid on the Working End...Cyran Androtus!"

"Leading the bid on the Luminous Wharf...Myrosype!"

Passad grins at the fact he has retained his hold on the Courts, clapping the nearest Pathfinder on the back. Irith smiles warmly, searching the crowd for Hakotep to wave regally to him before departing to finish the last-minute organization of her event. Vayde nods in simple satisfaction, allowing an aide to escort him to the bedchambers of his temporary estate. Cyran bows his head at the dwarven representative of the Resplendent Bureaucracy and the fellow mage before he and his retinue suddenly blink out of existence, and Myrosype can be seen lightly, dangerously, even, berating her aide.

"Good work once again, Pathfinders," Temel Passad adulates afterwards, as fine carriages bear your team and his back to his manor. "I don't believe for a second Irith decided to make that bid on her own. You and your Society have gumption! It doesn't seem as if you've fully put anyone behind their district of choice, I would get on that as soon as you can! Even Irith and I, with our comparative pittances, could outbid Myrosype if set on it. She could certainly outstrip us once again, I s'pose, but then she wouldn't have enough to take the other districts."

"Now, bed. Another day and a half of bidding await us all!"

Unless there are any questions, I believe the time has come to start...

Round 3:

In the late afternoon, Irith invites the bidders and all others to a gilded banquet chamber within her estate. She hosts an extravagant feast, serving 16 courses of rare and expensive delicacies from around the world. Between each course, she leaves time for the guests to mingle and talk amongst themselves. Dishes and platters are constantly being placed and replaced, and many people get up somewhat frequently to make room or chat with someone else, making it more difficult to talk straight to them.

While some of the more diehard Kalistocrats look almost wistfully on, other attendees swig from glasses of enchanted water and alcohol, designed to make a sated feaster hungry again, allowing them to eat their fill as many times as they would like. As such, by the 5th course and all thereafter, plenty are still going strong. It is at this course Irith presents the crown jewel of the banquet - poached chuul tentacles, a rarity even among the nobility of the Inner Sea. As they still carry traces of the creature's paralytic venom, they require knowledge and discipline to eat correctly, or perhaps a strong stomach. Irith watches vigilantly, or makes her many aides, to see how her guests fare with them.

OOC:
This event's adjustment is a -2 to all Diplomacy and Knowledge (whether to Analyze or to Influence) checks. The actions are as follows:

Action 1
Impress the Host: Fortitude save, Profession (cook) or Knowledge (nobility). Essentially, you can brave the tentacles and leave it to your stomach to not let them numb your mouth and make you sound silly, or you can use your knowledge of fine/noble cuisine to eat them properly. The DCs are different, but I can't tell you which is more difficult. Success grants you the standard +2 to Influence Irith for the rest of the scenario.
Action 2
Choose one of the following:
Analyze: Knowledge (local or nobility) or Sense Motive. For Analyze, PCs must designate the bidder and the target (strength, weakness).
Influence: Skills vary. PC must designate the bidder.
I can tell you, though, you have pretty much all of the Analyze information. I would just start Influencing in force.

The two women watch each other from afar, one asking questions about the other, the other asking questions about herself and her fellow bidders. Magga is a bit unsure, given their distance apart, but it appears as though she has received an encouraging nod from Irith. However, by the time the relatively low-profile, unimportant people around her begin to hear her questions, they seem tired of the very action of eating, unable to fully sate their hunger as they are, and lie unbecomingly slumped in their chairs, grunting slightly if addressed. Some have also fallen victim to the chuul tentacles, and drool slightly. Their chances of being invited to next year's bid drop slightly with each strand of spit that falls from their lolling mouths.

She will then approach Vayde Petronax and bows deeply. "I can see you are at the moment the highest bidder for the Scriptum. And rightly so, this is maybe the one place that should never leave the hands of the followers of the Prophecies. The wisdom of the written word is the only safe way to ensure that our children and childrens children will walk the right path. I just hope that one day you will grant me permission to visit the huge library to breath and feel the words of thousands of people. Did I ever tell you that in my free time I work as a scribe. Once in a while I take my time to copy one or two pages for a book. Also this will give you a golden opportunity to copy all written artifacts, gathered all over Golarion and store them safely in the place they belong. And what kind of wonders the library might hold, unknown to the uneducated."

Beronûsh, I'm gonna crack and give up: How do you type that symbol in your name? I've finally gotten tired of copy-and-paste :)

Beronûsh wolfs down his chuul, Electra eats it at a slightly more checked pace, and both feel a bit tingly afterwards. But not too long after, when Irith asks how they are and how they are enjoying the grand meal, both are able to reply as they wish without slurred speech or excess drooling.

Just prior to that, the current Lord-Councilor of Alabastrine was detained by Myrosype's aide on the way to talk to the Pathfinders. The aide in question, rather nervous over the failure of his mistress the night before, is also drooling slightly, although making a valiant effort to contain it. He begins a rather stilted speech directed at Irith, asking her to drop her bid before she is beaten and humiliated at the hands of his foreign employer. While he makes a very smart move in commending her for her current and previous efforts as Lord-Councilor, likely what he was told to do by Myrosype (who seems to have Irith and the others figured out), the tall woman simply chuckles and moves on. The argument proved unsuccessful, as the praise was rather counterproductive in it. Beronûsh, however, notes the effect of the man's praise and files the information in his mind for later use.

Irith's weakness: Each PC, can, a single time, gain a +4 bonus on an Influence check against her, provided they commend her work as Alabastrine's (current/previous) Lord-Councilor.

Electra, meanwhile searches for Vayde. She finds him after little work, surrounded by his retinue and picking at a piece of bread. As Temel Passad has said, he follows the strictest dietary restrictions the Prophecies have to offer, and did not even make it to the course of chuul. He listens to the elf's speech, not interjecting at all. When she finishes, he stands up with some difficulty. "Initially, I came to this event only to be seen attending an important social function," he rasps. "I figured I could take home a district, perhaps two, although I did not see the point. I wanted the Scriptum even then. But through coincidence or fate, the Pathfinders have swayed my hand, as well as those of the other prominent bidders. And who am I to refuse either? I could certainly welcome you into the Scriptum, that place of immense knowledge and power, and we as well as many others could do great things together." He claps his bony hands together, and an aide begins to scribble on a bidding sheet. "Very well. I believe this new bid, several million golden Crowns, should keep your enemy away from what is rightfully mine. Now, I must be off, and I suggest you should be too. There are still others in this game of yours, to fend Myrosype away from the fair city."

Congratulations, you have made the final success needed against Vayde Petronax! You also beat the DC by more than 5, so here are his biases, should anyone want to try to make him champion the Luminous Wharf.

Vayde's biases: Vayde enjoys talking to PCs who discuss their own personal religion or philosophy (+2). He despises those who comment on his advanced age or skeletal appearance (-2).

Bandits of Immenwood | Before the Dawn

Okay, I'm not sure how I missed that, it's in plain sight now. I must be a bit distracted, sorry.

It doesn't say, so I assume the event penalty would apply, but don't worry, you still passed :)

Khellek, like Prince Jasper long before him, quickly and artfully separates the most paralytic parts of the poached tentacles. Saving them for last, he then manages to eat them straight as well, using proper and becoming mouth movements to avoid even the smallest bout of numbness. Irith, walking by, quickly notices and is mightily impressed by the incredible display of dignity and eating manners. "I did not think one from the Pathfinder Society would be so refined," she beams. "You could certainly teach some of these drooling cretins and lackeys a thing or two."

Khellek then makes his way to Passad, who is talking with some partners of his, but he stops and defers to the elderly-looking historian when his presence is made known. He listens to Khellek's spiel with interest. At the end, he guffaws and says "And to think many a lesser argument would have won me over! I was likely to up my bid anyway, it doesn't seem as though Myrosype is to be trusted, but I wished to see how you would try me." He shoos away his partners, despite the fact he is being loud enough that anyone who wants to hear, likely will. It is unlikely a problem, however: Myrosype does know the Society sent representatives to influence the bid. "Oh, I did not mean to discourage you! I would not have cast a bid in the first place, or increased it thusly, without the help of you Pathfinders. I was sure you would talk to me again, and I was likely to up my bid on request; I was merely curious about how you would ask." He slowly and neatly writes down his latest bid: Two million gold pieces, or Crowns. Even though he likely the poorest bidder among the five, the amount of money he can dish out is staggering. An aide quickly materializes at his side to run the bid over to Hegio.

You have achieved Temel Passad's final success! As he is easier to influence then the rest, only two were required, and since you beat the DC by 10+, his bias is uncovered. I checked to see if you could take a potential second success from beating the DC and translate it to the Luminous Wharf, but it does not appear possible.

Temel's bias: The Kalistocrat prefers those who spend more time with him, as and such, a PC who has previously tried to Influence him (whether they succeeded or failed) gain a +2 on further checks to Influence him.

After, he decides to chat with Irith again. "Since our last talk, I have been asking around town about your time as Lord-Councilor. I must say, I am very impressed. Everyone speaks highly of your accomplishments."

Hakotep feels little more than a slight tingle upon eating the tentacles. His second helping yields little difference, and Irith smiles at his proficiency on her way down the massive table. The Pharaoh then seizes his chance to talk to her again. She listens intently, and laughs with him as he finishes. "You may have been asking in all the right, or perhaps wrong, places. Sadly, my approval has gone down significantly over the past two months or so. I must admit I fell into the doldrums at that time, my business had been declining rather slowly, unlikely to leave me with enough to secure a majority of Alabastrine's districts. As you know, I have practically remained in them up until last night, when you shared with me a much more sensible philosophy."

She, too, pauses to take a drink, one of the appetite-refreshing ones most likely, and secures a pastry from a passing tray before resuming. "Now, I believe even if I am not to hold a majority of the city, my presence there will still be recognized. Perhaps I am being pessimistic, and what you say about the many who still commend me is true. I, too, will be happy to work with you when I win. I could not have done it without you. Varnas! Varnas!" Irith snaps at her aide, who had kept following the pastry tray and its accompanying servant as it had gone past. "Increase my bid on the Burg. Six hundred thousand Crowns. Let us see Myrosype match that, especially if she wants another district!"

Another success for Irith Nomazmo! Also, I didn't think this round would go so fast, so I will post the start of round 4 and the ending results of this one in an hour or so, before I go to bed.

Sovereign Court

Bandits of Immenwood | Before the Dawn

At perhaps three hours past noon, slightly more than four since the banquet began, Hegio's magically magnified voice calls for quiet. The wizened dwarf stands in the center of the gilded dining hall, on a stool, surrounded by fellow members of the Resplendent Bureaucracy. "Attention! The latest results of the bid are as follows."

As nothing has changed leader-wise, little can be noticed when it comes to differences in reaction. Temel, Irith, and Vayde see congratulations on increasing their bidding gap, and Myrosype stalks off in a huff. While almost everyone knows violence of practically any kind is a crime in Druma, woe betide the Consortium agent's unsuccessful aide upon his stepping over the border line.

The estate of Temel Passad and the much more decadent one of Irith Nomazmo stand little more than a quarter-mile from each other, so Temel, who has been sparing as many expenses as he deems fit during the bid, suggests his retinue and the Pathfinders join him in a walk back. "It's good to get some extra exercise once in a while," he explains, not walking to discuss at length his somewhat stressed finances. "I must congratulate you and your Society once again. I don't recall how many times I've done that over the past few days, but it's a shame I was prevented from initiating a trade deal with your Exchange. I wouldn't be surprised if you manage to shut Myrosype, that false Prophet, out of Alabastrine entirely, although there remains your problem in the Luminous Wharf." As no one likely bothers to note it was his personal dislike of an emissary that kept him from his trade deal, given that he is paying for the housing and expensive food and baths, the party quickly return to the Kalistocrat's manor. There, there are several hours to convene, strategize and relax before...

Round 4: Cyran's Planar Jaunt

I may have gutted this paragraph a little, but I didn't like how they used the word 'guest' 7 or 8 times, so bear with me here.

Cyran has no interest in hosting a vivacious feast. Instead, he has all interested parties brought to a warehouse in Kerse’s small industrial district. Irith and Temel scoff at the musty interior of the warehouse’s gutted interior. Once all the guests arrive, Cyran and his aides usher their guests to the center of the warehouse, where a vibrantly colored storm of magical energy is brewing. Moments after the latest attendees assemble in the center of the circle, the warehouse disappears. The next thing that is known, all comers find themselves transported to a tall spire in the city plane of Axis. Here, golden walls hold windows that gaze down at the planar metropolis below. Inevitable servitors act as security and guests to the extravagant planar vista, which is stocked with a sampling of small foods and drinks from across the multiverse. This large chamber has no visible exits.

The abrupt shift between planes has put many a guest on edge, making them much more likely to respond to coercion in their already shaken state. Additionally, the incredible view of the sprawling city-plane, and perhaps some magical effect inherent to Axis, cause all present to become susceptible to talks of efficiency and finance. Finally, certainly an inherent magical effect, the nature of Axis itself rejects the intrusion by entropic forces, dulling even the sharpest minds among the "hordes of lawlessness and filth" as particularly wordy inevitables would put it.

While many Kalistocrats enjoy finding clever ways to use the law for their own profit, Cyran takes particular delight in creating airtight contracts. During the event, he pulls out several contracts and attempts to engage each attendee in a discussion about the flaws they notice. Each of these contracts represents another person’s imperfect attempt to negotiate the purchase of mechanical parts and rare skymetals from Axis. Those who possess the cunning to find and fix the imperfections of the agreement presented to them earn Cyran's grudging respect, an honor he is loath to give out and generally requires such a test.

I am so confused right now:
Okay, I've found a few things that are kind of confusing me about these posts.

Khellek, you're talking to Cyran, right? I assume so, given your roll and text citing the host. You also mentioned the Prophet's Burg, though, but I'll assume that's just a typo.

Magga, like Electra said, Irith is not Myrosype. Now that I think about it, though, are you playing Magga as confused by the Axis effect and the result of your roll? If so, that makes sense.

Electra, who is Felicitas? I assume Electra.

Khellek's Actions:
Cyran frowns slightly at Khellek's praise, not exactly what he was looking for. "Indeed, it takes a fair sum of power, even for me. It is not as if I'm doing much else with it nowadays, however, especially in Druma. Be that as it may, we are focusing on the contract at hand. See here, the very second sentence: the buyer here requests the skymetal noqual, but here, in paragraph three, it is stated seventy-five pounds of siccatite will be delivered upon completion of payment." The elf shakes his head sadly. "I am disappointed, Khellek. This was one of the easiest variations, and word has gone around pegging you as the smartest and most refined Pathfinder seen for many a decade."

Evidently, he doesn't seem to grasp that 3's happen...

When the historian seeks Cyran at a later point, he is found in a much more receptive mood. "I suppose an apology is in order, rather inept though I will admit I can be at social functions. I can only assume the resolute air of Axis has clouded your mind a bit. I travel here so often, and was already inured to the effect, that I forget what it can do to others." He appears to have a short, silent exchange with the nearest inevitable, after which it shoots off to increase his bid. "Bidders are not usually supposed to know the exact bids of the others, or the state of their finances, but as I have discussed with Hegio, I cannot simply shut off my telepathy. As such, I will follow suit with the others you have talked to, and increase my bid. It will not be a massive increase, but rest assured it will be enough."

Hakotep's Actions:
"Precisely!" Cyran beams. "It clearly states the axiomite parts will be delivered upon payment. However, the payment, as you so rightly pointed out, is in installments, long ones at that. The contract requests dispatch of the parts on a hasty clock, thus making the contract as useless-" The elf quickly points two fingers at the paper, causing it to curl up in a plume of smoke. "-as any contract comes."

Flush with success at impressing a nigh un-impressible, incredibly powerful wizard, Hakotep then searches the crowd for Irith. She is close at hand, as if expecting the Pharaoh's company for the third event in a row. She grins, as is her custom on listening to his speeches, takes a few seconds to consider the proposal, and responds. "Indeed, I was not certain what Cyran would do, as this is his first time here actually hosting a part of the bid. There are, in fact, several buildings in the district like that. When they do not live in their master's house, that is generally where they reside, although almost all the halflings of Druma are related in some way. Fortunately, we have a reasonable influx when it comes to you stout folk, which will perhaps be aided by your honeyed words." She calls for her easily distracted aide, Varnas, who this time is marveling at the perfect construction of an inevitable hovering outside of the spire. "Varnas! Increase my bid to one and a half million Crowns. Myrosype, with her stretched finances, will not match this, she will learn too late why one does not try for the whole city and expect to win. Do not worry, friend Hakotep. She will not bar us from our mutual dreams."

Magga's Actions:
Magga strides over to Irith soon after Hakotep is finished with his spiel. Her first and only sentence is more than a little confusing, and Alabastrine's current Lord-Councilor backs away as slowly and yet as quickly as she can. At some point after the mental haze of Axis wears off, she may perhaps be horrified at what she has done, but Hakotep consoles her, telling her he has set Irith on track for the Burg.

Electra's Actions:
Electra quickly identifies the obvious case of Poisoning the Well in the introductory remarks, wherein one party attempts to vilify the other in the eyes of a third. Cyran offers her a rare smile and presses onward in his questionings.

She finds him again later, picking through the wide assortment of drinks, none of which are alcoholic, as such things are considered taboo by the Kalistocracy and the denizens of Axis alike. He listens intently, draining several glasses of some form of extraplanar juice or mixed beverage during the speech and before answering. "You raise a fair point. Those who control the ports control much more. There are also likely raw materials there to be sold off-plane. While it would stretch my finances more so than I am generally comfortable with, the presence of more common people, pardon me if you take this as in insult, such as yourself has opened my mind slightly. To be a Kalistocrat is to amass material wealth, but sometimes we can certainly part with some in order to benefit others."

You have achieved the final success for Cyran Androtus and Irith Nomazmo, and have gotten Cyran his first success towards championing the Luminous Wharf!

Remember, Magga and Beronûsh, you can do Profession checks untrained. Otherwise, I doubt they would've put things like Cook, Gardener, and Barrister in here. It's just something you can always try, being rewarded if you happen to actually have the skill. If you'd still like, feel free to roll those whenever.

Beronûsh is unable to figure out Cyran's trade interests. He has a hunch, given the subject of almost every contract passed out, but it would not do assume and be wrong at such a party.

Temel Passad, somehow, has listened in on Hakotep's speech, and decides to put in a word. "While that is true, Pathfinders, it would not be wise to celebrate just yet. Cyran's bid on the Wharf seems rather shaky. You can still shut Myrosype out of the city, and there still remains a day to do so!" Shortly after, Hegio calls a halt to the proceedings. He whispers in Cyran's ear, the dwarf standing as high as he can and the elf bending onto one knee, and the powerful wizard dictates instructions to inevitables outside of the spire. As Hegio's magnified voice booms throughout the spire, the magical constructs in the air around the tower let of bright golden fireworks into the unobstructed skyline of Axis, displaying the current leaders' first initials before fading away into the nigh-infinite cityscape.

"Leading the bid on the Luminous Wharf...Cyran Androtus!"

Cyran's hand is shaken many times, and he bows his head discreetly in the direction of the Pathfinders. Myrosype seems visibly flustered and incensed. As the spire seems to have no visible exits, she is forced to remain, quickly losing her composure, until Cyran dismisses his spell, some ten minutes later. All of the guests find themselves back in the musty warehouse, and begin to traipse off alone or in groups. Temel Passad congratulates the team and leads them back to his estate for the penultimate night, where they prepare and rest up for...

Round 5: Myrosype's Finale

The capstone to the bidding for Alabastrine takes place on the afternoon of the third day. Guests are invited to Myrosype’s small estate at the edge of Kerse. To the surprise of the other bidders, Myrosype leads them to a small underground stadium in the depths of her estate. Here, she treats them to a variety of athletic and gladiatorial displays performed by experts from distant Iblydos, Myrosype’s homeland. However, during one of the sporting events, one of Myrosype’s aides comes to peaceably collect the Pathfinders and bring them upstairs to a small office in her agent’s estate. Here, Myrosype speaks plainly with them.

"I know of your efforts to oust me from this fair city," She begins bluntly, a silver Aspis badge gleaming on her dress. "When that fool Passad decided to spurn your higher-ups and had you sent instead, I was relieved. Although your superiors could likely have done a better job, I am admittedly impressed with yours. You have fared unexpectedly well in this, this sea of people of far higher station, all in the name of fighting me. Unfortunately for me, violence will not do either of us well here, so I am here to present you with an offer. All you have to do is tell me who you have attempted to sway into the bid, as opposed to those who joined of their own free will, as well as who you got to champion the Luminous Wharf and how. In return, I will give you a fair sum of gold, over several monthly installments so as to be rendered untraceable back to me, and should you ever run into trouble with the Consortium and end up in their custody, I believe I can finagle you out. All it takes is one of you wise enough to accept my offer, and everyone else can thusly benefit from their good decision. Now, what do you say?"

OOC:
So, in this round, there are no event adjustments, nor is there a check to impress the host. Currently, you must deliberate on whether to accept Myrosype's offer. Roleplaying and deliberating it out between yourselves and her is encouraged. One person accepting the offer will allow you all to take it, but in order to keep things level, I recommend an agreement be reached between the party before deciding.

The consequences of accepting the offer: Each PC gains a boon on their Chronicle sheet, which, first, can at any time give them 150 GP per character level (maximum 900 at 6th). Secondly, if you are ever captured and imprisoned by the Aspis, Myrosype manages to negotiate your release which would otherwise amount to a body recovery (5 PP). What she could do with the information she requests in exchange seems like little, and it is more a question of your loyalty to the Society when divulging (potentially harmless) information.

After deciding on this, each PC will also have time for one last Influence check before the bidding is concluded.

The rather skint scholar hears the jangle of gold in his pocket.

"So.. you just want to know who we have encouraged in their bidding? And how we made the wharf seem like a good place to bid for... assuming we did indeed try to influence that. And what will you do with this information? Will they, those close to them, or their endeavors come to any harm?"
