"There is a door here, we may want to check inside."

Jonnie points to the secret door in the north wall.

Male 1/2 Orc Paladin (Undead Scourge)/2 AC:20 | HP: 15/23 | Init +4 | Perc +0 | F: +5 R:+3 W:+3 (+3 against divine spellcasting)

Torrosk grunts, "Hmmph. Seems the priests loved their secrets. There is one likewise in the south wall." He takes the scroll out of the book and holds it up. "This may be helpful, but someone with more magical talent than I should look it over. Probably something of a divine nature, given it's in a temple Thinking that, he hands the scroll to Viniana

"Why use secret doors down here? Surely only the initiated would come here."

Just secret passages out of here, no regular doors? Which way points to where the shard fell through the floor?

The shard would have fallen into this room. You have found no sign of it here, however

Taking the proffered scroll, Viniana examines it, and tries to determine what it is. After a few moments she gives up and says, "I will have to wait until I can prepare and appropriate spell, I have no clue what it does."

Ravin says, "An extra level of security is never a bad idea, Radavek. Or, at least, so I've been told."

The scroll is not identified... No regular doors... What are the plans?

looks around. "Let's look through both doors before deciding which way to go."

Nodding her agreement with Radavek, "Taking a look through each of them certainly won't hurt us any will it?"

Enter Famous Last Words!

Torrosk and Radavek move to open the two secret doors, and leaping at them ravenously once the doors are open are two nasty looking little creatures. Torrosk also feels an odd sense of foreboding about the room to the north where the creature comes from.

Looking into the rooms, they appear to be a small shrine, though the altars have been thoroughly desecrated.

I'm guessing kn religion would apply here to figure out what the little bast...creatures are.
kn religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Torrosk growls "What the blazes are these things!"

because clearly, Torrosk has no idea what they are.

Knowledge religion would be the correct check. Others with points in Know Religion and line of sight may roll.

Radavek draws his sword and tries to stand between the creature and the rest of the party.

"Stay there!" he shouts at the creature.

Should have had my sword in hand!

I'm not that kind of bard.

Jonhilda and Viniana:
These creatures appear to be ghouls who brought about from the corpses of goblins. Weaker than ghouls in all respects, but otherwise similar.

The two creatures lash out at Radavek and Torrosk with ferocious bites, oblivious to Radavek's threat. Both miss badly, perhaps dazzled by the bright light.

Realizing what the creatures are, Viniana tells her comapnions, "They are some kind of ghoul goblin, let's call them Ghoulblins, watch out for their bite." Her warnimg delivered, Viniana moves to get a better view of both creatures and then raises her holy symbol and sending a burst of multicolored light from it that sears into the ghoulblins. Then she moves her glaive into the ready position.

"So kill them then?!"

A panicked Radavek sweeps his torch at the ghoublin and follows it with his scimitar. Hoping that holds the creature back he stumbles backwards himself.

Radavek drops the ghoulblin with a quick slice of his scimitar, severing the vile creature's neck. The other ghoulblin presses its attack on Torrosk, uncaring about the fate of its bretherin. Viniana's holy radiance shines upon the creature, causing it to howl in rage though it seems to resist some of the effect.

Jonnie gestures, and after taking out a stick of butter and chanting, a patch of grease appears under the undead.

grease REF DC 15:

Casting Time 1 standard action

Components V, S, M (butter)

Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)

Target one object or 10-ft. square

Duration 1 min./level (D)

Save see text; SR no

A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.

The spell can also be used to create a greasy coating on an item. Material objects not in use are always affected by this spell, while an object wielded or employed by a creature requires its bearer to make a Reflex saving throw to avoid the effect. If the initial saving throw fails, the creature immediately drops the item. A saving throw must be made in each round that the creature attempts to pick up or use the greased item. A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and combat maneuver checks made to escape a grapple, and to their CMD to avoid being grappled.

Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

If that grease spell is centered on the ghoulblin, the 10'square is going to get us too. Do we need to roll reflex saves?

I am saying it was centered behind the ghoulblin so it only got his square.

"These died easily. I hope there are no worse horrors down here."

So what's behind the doors?

"Plenty of work for the priests to clean up."

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Obviously he's still a little fatigued from his rage.

Ravin says, dryly, "Our little rest stop just keeps on getting better... "

Any others joining in with perception rolls?

Entering with her companions, Viniana steps gingerly over the ghoulblin, "What do we have in this room?"

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Perception (Aid Another): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

The group thoroughly explores the rooms and finds nothing else of interest. There are doors leading out of each of the side-rooms, that you guess may have been private meditation chambers before being defaced with profanities and unholy scrawl.

Viniana and Torrosk both feel shivers down their spines when they enter the meditation chambers.

Know Arcana 22:

Both of the shrines appear to be under the effects of a Desecrate spell.

Two doors to choose from.

arcane: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

"Someone has magically desecrated these shrines."

Ravin mutters, "...better and better still..."

He looks up at the others, "Do we have any particular reason to choose one door over another, or shall I just flip a coin?"

Male Human (Varisian); Percept 3, Sense Motive -1; AC 20 T 13 FF 17; F 5, R 2, W -1; HP 28/28

"South. Because left to themselves things always go south."

Radavek smiles.

"I am not leading. South it is."

Ravin chuckles, "Oh, you noticed that too? I thought it was just me."

The group opens the door...

This spartan room appears to be a living quarters for an individual, with a bed, table and chest of drawers. A small mirror is mounted on the northern wall and several books are present on the night stand. An oil lamp is unlit, hanging from the southern wall.

Male Human (Varisian); Percept 3, Sense Motive -1; AC 20 T 13 FF 17; F 5, R 2, W -1; HP 28/28

Keeping his scimitar naked in his right hand, Radavek thrusts his torch into the room and follows behind it.

He has little interest in the furnishings. He's looking for threats, Juriendor, and doors.

I believe it is apparent on the map, but there is one door on the west wall.

Male Human (Varisian); Percept 3, Sense Motive -1; AC 20 T 13 FF 17; F 5, R 2, W -1; HP 28/28

Radavek transfers his sword to his torch hand, opens the door and quickly regrips his sword.

Lost track and thought Rad was going through that west door in my last post.
