Taking the weapon, and realizing how odd it feels in her hand, viniana gives an eperimental swing or two and says, "Well, it's not particularly pretty, but it'll do for now." She obviously can't handle the wepon well due to her weak physical stature, still, it's better than being unarmed when the enemy gets too close. She looks to Torrosk and replies, "Thank you Torrosk, I would appreciate that."

Ravin chuckles again, "Unless you think it'd shrink in the wash, I'm not so fond of it."

Viniana looks over the equipment for magical aura's and finds one. She focuses and attempts to figure out what the shield is.

But can make no sense of it other than being an aura of abjuration. Looking to her compatriots she says, "I don't know exactly what it does, but the shield is magical, there is an abjuration upon it, but I can't figure out what kind."

Having equipped a few new items, the party is ready to move forward. Radavek opens the door to reveal what appears to be a modest sleeping chamber. There is a dresser, a simple bed, a small mirror, a footlocker, and a simple holy symbol as the only decoration on the bare stone walls. A door in the east wall provides the only other apparent exit from the room.

"This must circle back to the ghoulblin room. It looks like we have to go down."


Ravin says, "Best explore this space to see if there's any sign as to what's going on -- and, for that matter, be absolutely sure about the door."

Ravin can't see the map and has no ranks in Survival. :)

Torrosk huffs, and moves to look at the footlocker. "Let's look through the footlocker and dresser to see if we can find any clues to what's going on here."


The dresser contains some simple clothes, priest's vestments. The footlocker contains a few personal items and a book of prayers.


Ravin looks somewhat bemused, "I don't suppose there's a manifesto explaining all the dark and evil things hidden in the prayer book?"

Radavek grins at the jest. "BOring things more like. Let's try the trap door now."


Leafing through the prayer book quickly, Ravin notices some passages that allay some of the party's earlier concerns regarding the keeping of dead in the catacombs so that the souls of the ancestors protect the Cathedral. This was a practice handed down from the ancient northern tribes and there is no necromantic aspect to it beyond traditional beliefs regarding the internment of the dead. Also, there are several mentions of the ceremony Juriendor was conducting being a newer ceremony and very effective at keeping undead and evil spirits away.

If one has 10 minutes to study the book while making a check, the book will give a +2 to a knowledge religion roll.

If the party is ready to decend, please confirm marching order down the ladder.

Viniana stands near Ravin and looks at the book over his shoulder, "Very interesting. Would you mind if I held onto that for now Ravin?" With things in the room settled, Viniana prepares to move down the ladder.

I'm pretty good where I'm at. I can take up the rear though if Jonhilda would rather not be the last one in line.


As the party gathers to decend the ladder, Torrosk takes the lead. He begins to descend and as his darkvision adjusts to the room below, he sees four skeletons in vestments of priests lumbering clumsily towards him, claws extended.

Jonnie gestures and Torrosk begins to grow. Full round casting (completed beginning of next action) = enlarge person The effect is delayed a few seconds.

enlarge person:
This spell causes instant growth of a humanoid creature, doubling its height and multiplying its weight by 8. This increase changes the creature's size category to the next larger one. The target gains a +2 size bonus to Strength, a -2 size penalty to Dexterity (to a minimum of 1), and a -1 penalty on attack rolls and AC due to its increased size.

A humanoid creature whose size increases to Large has a space of 10 feet and a natural reach of 10 feet. This spell does not change the target's speed.

If insufficient room is available for the desired growth, the creature attains the maximum possible size and may make a Strength check (using its increased Strength) to burst any enclosures in the process. If it fails, it is constrained without harm by the materials enclosing it--the spell cannot be used to crush a creature by increasing its size.

All equipment worn or carried by a creature is similarly enlarged by the spell. Melee weapons affected by this spell deal more damage (see Table: Medium/Large Weapon Damage). Other magical properties are not affected by this spell. Any enlarged item that leaves an enlarged creature's possession (including a projectile or thrown weapon) instantly returns to its normal size. This means that thrown and projectile weapons deal their normal damage. Magical properties of enlarged items are not increased by this spell.


Ravin shakes his head, "Not at all... but if you come across any interesting stories, I want to see them."


The skeletons close in on Torrosk, claws grasping... One claw gashes through Torrosk's armor, drawing blood.

Torrosk takes 5 hp damage.

Torrosk obliterates a skeleton, sending bone fragments flying as the creature simply crumbles. Jonhilda, distracted by the fierce blow, shoots a beam of acid slightly wide, missing the mark.

Torrosk isn't enlarged until the start of Jonhilda's next turn. Doesn't matter with roll though. He notices nothing special about the skeletons.

You are the proverbial 5' up meaning one square directly above. You can threaten all squares contiguous with Torrosk. If you want to make a DC 12 acrobatics check you can leap down to any open square you like. If you fail you will take 1d6 reflex save dc 10 for half.

Eep! That's some vicious falling damage.

Viniana, realising the precariousness of the situation, focuses and and aura begins to emanate from her that helps deflect attacks on her allies. She then finishes her decent and moves aside so the others can come down with her glaive readied to strike should the opportunity arise.

I activate deflection aura (+2 deflection bonus) and then finish my decent and moving to one side to clear the path.

Radavek slides onto the ladder and begins his descent.


Ravin peers around, looking for a way to use his skills, then sighs, There's no brain in those skulls to irritate with my rapier-sharp wit, and no flesh to poke at with my wit-sharp rapier.... He debates jumping down, then shakes his head, ...and what would you be doing down there? Kicking bone dust in their eyes? He sighs again and slips the bow from his shoulder, Apparently the other halflings were right about their slings...., he chuckles, then carefully aims before releasing an arrow.

Ravin's arrow passed directly through the chest of a skeleton, and would have been a deadly strike against a mortal. However, the arrow passes harmlessly between the creature's ribs.

Radavek descends the ladder and takes his place defending Viniana.

The skeletons single-mindedly press the attack on Torrosk, but none manage to get through his armor.

Viniana takes a swipe at the nearest skeleton in the hopes that she can actually hit it while her aura continues deflecting attacks.

Last round of deflection aura and attacking the skeleton two squares to the right and two down. So glad they ruled that reach actually can do that now.

Ravin shrugs, Maybe they're stupid enough to fall for this...., then jumps down the ladder, tumbling into a ball and whispering a cantrip as he springs back to his feet.... bringing the remembered sound of two half-drunk Ulfen arguing and threatening each other into the far corner of the room.

I moved Ravin to the nearest square that made sense. All PLEASE move your tokens for your actions rather than leave me to guess.

The skeletons continue to mindlessly claw at Torrosk, but none manage to draw blood.

He smiles. "I just needed to get a feel for it."


Radavek crushes the skeleton's skull with his warhammer, causing the remaining bones to scatter - inert.

Torrosk's swing is hampered by the nearby ladder and he misses the last remaining skeleton.

Jonnie fires acid from above, missing wildly. If the event is not rushed (take 10 Ok), she begins to climb down the ladder.

With her lack of ability to hit these things and do any real harm Viniana prepares to strike if the skeleton moves into range but stays out of her allies way.


I'm not seeing a lot Ravin can do here, so I'm going to have him hold until he posts.

The lone remaining skeleton claws at Torrosk, claws skittering across his armor harmlessly.
