Valandil Anwamanë |
Valandil looks around.
"There are still some tunnels left, but how much power do we have left to explore them with? "
Still, the elf heads up to the next statue, curiousity warring with caution within him.
Grigori Yefimovich |
Fr. Yefimovich replies to the wizard, "I can go on for a time longer, myself." With his magical sight still active (?), the priest scans around the room before entering.
Look around and see... not much:
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
However, assuming 10 minutes have not yet passed, deathwatch is still active.
Garox |
"Same here. But I'm not a caster of spells so that helps" Garox says with a wink.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Valandil Anwamanë |
Valandil also peers into the room, but looks upwards as well as downwards. Where could the wax have come from?
perception: 1d20 ⇒ 7

If there is enough cover Garox tries to stealth and circle around the creature

Pitbull |
"A Lemure eh? Can we hack it to death?"
Garox Fang |
"Let's do the same thing we did before, wait in the alcoves and lure it to attack us, so we can attack it from 3 sides."
Garox says as he moves to one of the side alcoves and readies an attack.
attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 = 18
dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
that won't do enough dmg anyway :(
Pitbull |
"Or we can just rush it and beat it down?"
Valandil Anwamanë |
"I know nothing of devils. I assume they are resistant to fire though. Do you know if acid can affect them?"
Valandil looks less than happy at his array of arcane options.
GM Crash |
As Garox goes into the room and stands in one of the alcoves, the lemure starts moving.
Lemure: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Valandil: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Pitbull: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Nesterok: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Grigori: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Garox: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Round 1 (begins)
Garox readies an attack.
Garox, Grigori, Pitbull, Nesterok, Lemure, Valandil
Nesterok knows that lemures have a DR 5/good or silver, they are immune to fire, mind-affecting effects, and poison, and they are resistant to acid and cold for 10.
Grigori Yefimovich |
Round 1
Grigori looks disappointed. Shaking his head, "A lemure? What other abominations shall we find infesting the Lady's sacred place, I wonder?"
Finding his tactical options limited, the priest steps up to Pitbull and offers her a prayer of guidance and a touch upon her shoulder.
He then laments to Nesterok, "A silvered dagger might come in quite handy in my future travels..."
5 ft. step (NE), cast guidance on Pitbull.
Nesterok |
Nesterok draw his scorpion's whip and took a 5ft. step behind Valandil and said
We need silver weapon to bypass its resistance to physical damages and as a devil it's immune to fire and resist to acid and cold. They are also immune to mind-affecting effect !
Valandil Anwamanë |
Valandil looks on, more or less helplessly.
"I have no way to harm such a creature."
Pitbull |
Pitbull moves in...
Will hold an attack
GM Crash |

Nesterok steps behind Valandil and draws his whip.
The lemure moves forward, drawing an attack from Garox that seems to just slice through wax that comes back together again. It then attacks him.

Valandil helps Nesterok.
Round 2 (partial)
Garox fails to connect with his swing.
Grigori delays.
Pitbull manages to cut a good portion of the lemure wax away.
Nesterok trips the lemure.
The lemure stands up. Aoos please. And if it is still alive... 1d3 ⇒ 1 It tries to attack Garox again. Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Nesterok |
@GM Crash : as the creature used a move action to stand up, it can't make a full attack
Again, Nesterok tried to trip the wax's creature with his whip.

Valandil Anwamanë |
Valandil again tries to assist Nestrok

Grigori Yefimovich |
The priest prays again, this time touching nearby Nesterok on the shoulder.
Guidance again... make that a 17 on Nesterok's trip maneuver, if he wants.
Garox Fang |
"Ugh, NOW I could use some rest." Garox says as he sits down, examining the wounds the Lemure made.
Valandil Anwamanë |
"None of these look especially comfortable. But I can't say I look forward to going around the big pit again. " offers the elf.
Grigori Yefimovich |
Father Yefimovich is quick to render aid to his wounded companion. Speaking a short prayer to his goddess, the priest touches Garox's gashed arm. A soft light emanates from his palm, and the wound closes up.
Now that the threat has vanished, he mumbles another brief prayer, then begins to help the others examine the room more carefully.
Blow 1 prepared bless to spontaneously cast cure light wounds on Garox:
HP Healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Aid Another (Search) to grant +2 bonus to someone else:
Perception vs DC10: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
Mods: +1 from guidance
Garox Fang |
"Thanks friend. That's better."
Valandil Anwamanë |
"I can summon acid all day, but it is not the most effective of my abilities. With the wand, I can probably act against undead for a while as well, but it will eventually run out."
He looks around the group.
"How are the rest of your resources?"
Pitbull |
"Next" Pitbull seems to be enjoying this game.
Grigori Yefimovich |
"The Lady favors my prayers today," Grigori responds. "I may go on for a while longer, but I dare not presume her favor for too much longer." He scratches his bearded chin as his eyes pan the remaining statues, "Might we wrap up the remaining crypts, then call it a day?"
Valandil Anwamanë |
Valandil nods his weary head.
"I do note the challenge seems to be increasing as we progress..."
Garox Fang |
"I think we can take one or two more of these rooms before we have to rest." Garox suggests.
GM Crash |
The party opens the door to the next crypt and are greeted by an interesting sight. While this crypt has the dusty, disused air of the ossuary’s other catacombs, the bodies interred within it are remarkably free from the ravages of age and decay. Their burial garments have long since rotted away, but the cadavers look as if they could have been placed in their niches only yesterday. Unfortunately, this amazing effect is somewhat overshadowed by the lewd and graphic positions the bodies have been placed in.
Grigori Yefimovich |
"Wow. The priest does a double take on sight of the crypt's denizens. His mouth drops open a bit as he enters. Regaining composure, he recites a prayer and looks around at the room.
"How... uhm... wonderfully preserved they are."
Cast detect magic.
Look around to notice anything else of interest:
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
GM Crash |
Grigori sees a glow all over the room, and after a little bit of deducting he realizes that it is the effects from the ossuary itself that is causing the glow and making the corpses look so fresh. He also finds that many of the bodies were buried with attractive jewelry—in all, 400 gp worth of various ornamental trinkets.
Grigori Yefimovich |
"Fascinating," Grigori continues. He approaches the bodies, and a mild smile comes over his face. "Back in Usatalav, I served as a mortician. I take great pride in my handiwork. But this," he places a hand near the backside of a deceased woman, "I really dig it."
The priest then retracts his hand, straightens up, clears his throat, and then says, "I mean... it must be magical enhancement that keeps these bodies in tact. No mortician could do this perfect a job of preservation unaided by spell."
