Ah you're right, there is a lot of healing going on, can be hard to track at times!
Cirri Merryweather |
"Oh, okay!" Cirri replies as Antonella talks to her. "I totally need to get one of those. And what's trying to wither my body? It's the last ghast, isn't it?"
Cirri continues to stumble forth along the wall until she can get close to Antonella. Riddywhipple seems excited. I'll express urgency!
Riddywhipple flies next to Cirri and tries to heal Cirri.
UMD: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

Cirri and Riddwhipple speak to each other in a combination of squawks, roars, and clicks in some kind of secret language.
"Riddy, is that you? Antonella has a potion that deals with blindness. It's in her backpack. I'll take the wand, but you should grab it so I can drink it."
"Of course, Cirri! I'll remind you to carry one of these later on."

Kel fires off a magic missile damaging the cleric while Mutahir and Antonella try and beat him back with a combination of attacks!
Antonella is able to open up his defenses long enough for Mutahir to deliver a wicked strike and while he is open Antonella follows up with a devastatingly powerful blow!
Tholrist howls in agony and fury before attacking, his body is enveloped in abyssal energy empowering him beyond what should be possible!

He grabs a potion and hands it over to Cirri.I'll focus on saving Mutahir, you help pummel this thing into dust. Riddy's telepathic message is heard loud and clear by Cirri.
Retrieving an item and giving it to Cirri.
"OW! Okay, definitely doesn't sound good." Cirri shudders and downs the potion. Her eyes clear up. "Ugh, finally! Oh no!" Cirri flashes from joy, to grief, to anger.

And though it took a while Kel's magic missile from 6 seconds ago finally found its way to the evil undead cleric and strikes him repeatedly in the heart.
The evil undead minion almost can't believe what has happened, speaking in Thasillonian to no one in particular.
He crumples to the ground, his body quickly turning to dust leaving nothing but old robes and a few magical trinkets.
Okay good job you guys did it! I probably should rewind things buuuuuuuuuut let's just proceed forward!
Mutahir Hashem |
If someone wouldn't mind a patch up? Kel, I'd super owe you if you could infernal healing me some, i'd need 6 taps to get up to full again. >.<.
Wizard of the Coast |
Once the threat has passed, Kel walks over to Mutahir and begins by tapping him with the healing wand... 6 times in successions, with a minute and a half between taps. not sure if they stack up like planes circling at an airport or if the new one would supplant the old one, so he waits til each one is expended before spending another charge.
Antonella Schiavo |
“The ghast just said, ‘10,000 years of waiting only to awaken and ready to conquer the world. . .Yamasoth is this what you wanted?!’”
Antonella uses her last channel to heal everyone a little.
channel healing: 1d6 ⇒ 3
The priestess also checks if there are any survivors amongst the fallen, and commiserates with Riptide when he unfreezes.
“Perhaps there’s some other horror in this vile ruin that would benefit from a close encounter with your ranseur, brother.”
Antonella *winks* “Maybe then we’ll be able to stick a fork in this mission.”
Take 10 heal: 10 + 5 = 15
She then scouts around for phat lewtz (especially healing potions).
Take 10 Perception: 10 + 7 = 17
If there aren’t any healing items, Antonella ensures everyone receives all the healing they want from CLW wands before leaving the chamber.
Mutahir Hashem |
Mutahir sits up, holding his head as the healing takes hold.
Ugh... He kips up and lands a kick on the now dead cleric.
Bastard.
He winces and rubs his head again, growling.
One of these days I'm going to figure a way around that channeling of energy.
Looking to Antonella, Mutahir gives a small, slightly reluctant bow.
Thank you Sister. Despite our theological differences, I appreciate your work here today, especially since you finished off that thing...
He glares at the downed cleric again.
Let's see if there are any other unpleasant surprises hiding around.
Mutahir Hashem |
Mutahir shakes his head.
Perhaps, but I saw you fight with bravery and valor none the less. I would be a hypocrite if I did not praise you for your actions, even if they where in service to a god.
He clasps her wrist in his hand and gives it a firm shake before letting go.
Perhaps we will even work together in the future. The society makes strange bedfellows of us with different views on the world.
Helping Antonella scan the room, he cracks his knuckles.
Now, let's do a sweep and make sure that was the last of the filth that inhabited this place... I do believe we had another secret door to open yes?
Cirri Merryweather |
"Okay! I'm ready to- oh." Cirri looks at the carnage. "Nice eagles, though. That's the problem with all this waiting. 10000 years of evil and all you can show for it is a magic missile in the brain."
"Bah! And I had a new spell to show off and everything." Cirri jokes before asking Antonella to use her wand of Cure Light Wounds.
CLW: 53 - 17 + 3 + 3d8 + 3 ⇒ 53 - 17 + 3 + (4, 3, 2) + 3 = 51
"Oh, and could you help Riddywipple?"
CLW: 16 + 2d8 + 2 ⇒ 16 + (7, 6) + 2 = 31
"Great. Thanks! And I owe you a potion. Now let's see what's in the next room."
GM Cody |
After destroying Tholrist, you discover he has been wearing the jawbone portion of the acrimony veil in place of his own jaw. This is the third component of the item, and it is covered with intricate etchings like
those on the other pieces found in the temple complex.
It radiates faint evocation magic and obviously attaches to the left cheek guard you've found already. the only piece remaining is the other cheek guard. In addition Tholrist has a kit of obsidian scalpels, platinum needles, and other strange fleshcarving instruments in a porcelain case that are worth 2,000 gp to a collector.
Tholrist was wearing +2 mithral shirt, amulet of natural armor +1, ring of protection +1.
You also find the remaining missing miners and excavators though they are all dead and half-eaten.
You guys also find a somewhat secret passage on the side of the room that leads back to the main hallway.
If you guys wanted to rest you totally could, the only thing left to really find is the last piece of the Acrimony Veil
Riptide Snaggletooth |
Once he can move again, Urktar stretches out the kinks, trying to shake off any lingering effects.
"Guess I could've waited a few more seconds before barging in," he says with a rueful chuckle.
Urktar then uses a couple of charges from his own wand of infernal healing as he helps search the room, seeking das loot.
2+ minutes elapse. Take ten perception=17.
"I obviously could use more protection for combat," Riptide says, hungrily eyeing the amulet and ring. He then raps on his mitrhal breastplate. "But I certainly don't need that chain shirt."
Cirri Merryweather |
"We can get their bodies out of here, at least." Cirri frowns as she gazes upon the dead miners.
"I don't need any of this gear right now, I actually have all of them."
Attaching the cheek of the acrimony veil, she shudders again. "Some people try to master magic, only for magic to master them...it's a true threat on the chase for perfection."
Cirri is ready to continue, but she'll go along with the rest of the team.
Wizard of the Coast |
Almost no spells, left, so wouldn't mind rest, but if everyone wants to go on, I'll make do with wands
Antonella Schiavo |
"I vote to press on."
Antonella smiles at Kel. "I think Cirri and Riptide have a score to settle with this temple's occupants, brother."
"This has been one of the toughest dungeons I have faced. It would be satisfying to say we cleared it in under 24 hours."
I'll roll to heal Antonella in a few hours.
Riptide Snaggletooth |
Well, I'm with you fellas. Riptide would prefer to press on (shocking), but whatever the party wants.
Wizard of the Coast |
"That's fine, as long as you understand I'm a bit limited right now... Let's press onward."

Riptide will wait to see if the brainier types find anything with their scanners and trap perceptions. If nothing, then it's time for a little brawn.
Riptide says,"Okay, everyone, step back. Like Sonic says, 'Just 'cuz you're paranoid doesn't mean the world ain't out to kill ya.' 'Course, he likes to add, 'So curl up in a little ball and hope for the best,' but you can prepare as you see fit."
Once folks have dropped back and indicated they're ready, Riptide will once again use his wand of Shield, and then Long Arm. Then he'll use his shiny new magic Ranseur to poke at the wall from 10' away.

"Wait a moment, please." Kel will cast detect magic and advise Riptide of what he sees before the ranseur poke...
GM Cody |
Kel detects magic and while the building seems to have magic infused into the very stonework to prevent it from aging or being destroyed, these particular bricks were added after all that, they seem quite prone to destruction and were not part of the original design.
He otherwise doesn't detect any magic though.
As Riptide pokes it the wall with his Ransuer The distinctive sound of stone grinding on stone reverberates down the hall and the brick barricade crumbles away with ease.

“Any creature killed by a vampire ooze is raised as a zombie immediately after dying. They are Immune to cold, electricity, and a host of other things.”
“If exposed to direct sunlight they are destroyed completely after about 10 seconds of direct exposure – not that that will help us down here!”
Antonella arches her neck and back as she (swiftly) enters Crane Style.
“At this stage I’m thinking to just contain it, so it can’t get to you guys.”
With that roll, I’d like to think Antonella would know if it had Combat Reflexes, GM Cody? If it doesn’t, The paladin reaches into her backpack and withdraws a vial of holy water. (move)
