The pillars here do not support the dome. Rather, each is about 25 feet tall, and the tentacle-like carvings encircling them provide handholds for climbing.

Antonella assumes the pose of a large wading bird (swift action Crane Style), takes a 5’ step to prevent her captivated party members from advancing towards the harpies (treating them as non-allies) and readies an action to defensively strike any harpy that enters melee range.

“I should be able to hold them back from here (the harpies and our people) but if any more of us are captivated we may have a few problems.”

Antonella sounds calm and determined. “Rashaam, Kel, can you take the harpies out from range? Do we have a silence spell or a way to counter their song?”

Cirri flies right over towards the harpies. "Whee! Pretty sounding!" I assume the doorway is over 10 feet high. Curse my ability to fly!

GM Cody, I am claiming Antonella and her surrounds is a ‘dangerous area’ and so the mere act of walking past her triggers another saving throw against the captivating song – whether she connects with the AoO or not.

I will await your ruling on this.


Yeah, I mean I'll let the AoO break but I think simply claiming its a dangerous area seems a little farfetched, since the book describes a dangerous area as: "If the path leads them into a dangerous area such as through fire or off a cliff, that creature receives a second saving throw to end the effect before moving into peril." There is no reason why your allies would perceive you as dangerous unless you flat out attack them. That's just me, I can look and see if there is clarification on that. If someone knows a post that already spells it out with community consensus, let me know so I don't spend hours searching!

I wanted to give you guys the chance to take your turns even if you were captivated in case you had some trap card to play that prevents being captivated--so thats why I still gave you your turn, or if an ally was able to give you a new saving throw or something.

These harpies seem twisted by the foul demonic energies that permeate this former Thassilonian Kingdom! They have Damage resistance overcome by good weapons, and are resistant to fire and cold. They also have some immunity to weak spellcasters!

Riptide tries to step forward, entranced by the Harpy's song when he is slapped awake by Antonello!

Cirri and Mutahir however fly and stumble forward eager to get closer to the singing harpy!

Rashaad readies his crossbow, preparing to blast any Harpy that comes close to the doorway while Kel(WotC) prepares illusionary magic to defend himself from attacks!

Casting Silent Image to create a wall of flame. The bottom two squares are 30 feet hight, while the top square is 10 feet high. Since it's the most direct path to the harpies, maybe that will trigger the new will save?

It's a DC 14 Will Save to disbelieve. The non-captivated members get a +4 bonus to disbelieve it since I told them it wasn't real.

Oh boy, now I'm using an illusion to try to break captivation! These rules get very ambiguous, but the way I read illusions is that victims have to interact with the illusion before they get the Will Save to disbelieve it. Humans usually don't touch fire, so I'm going to say they interpret the flames as a dangerous area and can make a new Will Saving throw to ignore the harpy's song.

If the GM is OK with this interpretation:

Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Welp, time to blow my GM Star reroll
GM Reroll: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24

Riddywhipple conjures up a magical fire wall that snaps Mutahir and Cirri out of their magical compulsion! The harpies scream in anger and unison!

The yellow feathered harpy swoops down, making a fly by attack on Mutahir with her morningstar, her body crackles with a demonic energy empowering her mornginstar that swings viciously before flying back up to her perch, cackling.

Yellow Harpy vs Mutahir:

The blue feathered harpy also attacks Rashaam, they are trying to viciously end someone to gain the advantage! and while he was busy dodging the red harpy he was brutalized by the blue harpy!

So, since the Harpy flew away from my square it provokes a AOO unless it does something special to not do so.

Mutahir spins his blade at the harpie with blurring speed, attempting to turn away it's claws...

Cirri flaps her hair like wings and charges the pink feathered harpy while invisible. With a bit of arcane energy, she swings her staff with both hands!

Rashaam lets out a brief "ARGH!" as the harpy rakes him. "It's because I'm sooooo attractive! Apparently." He tucks away his hand crossbow and draws his shortsword! Bean readies a seedpod vs the first harpy to get within 20'!

Kel readies a spell to try and glitterdust the harpies if they all converge again on Rashaam!

Antonello runs around the fire drawing her wand as she does and healing Rashaam!

Mutahir demonstrates he is one guy not to mess with as he deftly avoids the Harpies morningstar and then returns the favor and stabs her twice in quick succession.

Cirri materializes charging the pink feathered Harpy, battering her with her magical staff!

Riptide moves up by Antonella and then attempts to shoot the Red harpy with his bow.

The Red feathered harpy decides to go after Rashaam once again! Getting hit with a tiny seedpod in the face as it swoops down to attack! Fort save DC11: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 The seed pod doesn't even phase the harpy as she flies by and makes a glancing blow against Rashaam!

Pink harpy takes advantage of her foe moving so close to her and attacks her first with morningstar and then following up with her talons! Despite trying to parry her morningstar, the pink harpy overwhelms the poor magus, bonking and slashing at her!

As Cirri moves away from Pink, she takes a mighty swing to try and knock the distracted magus out of the air!

The pink feathered harpy bonks her and she regains her senses! You wouldn't have to move all the way over to Yellow, you could presumably stop early

Riptide goes berzerk and starts waving around a massive longspear with his wacky floppy arms! He flops his arms around and delivers a powerful killing blow to the Yellow Harpy! Knocking her from her pedestal!

Antonella strikes quickly as the blue Harpy attacked her earlier, slapping her right in the beak!

Kel summons two eagles hastily and while the birds peak and claw at their big feathered cousins the fiendish harpies skin proves too tough for the Eagles to claw through!

Pink and Blue pounce on the Paladin! Both flying by raking at her with their Morningstars! Neither of them even come close to the damaging Antonella though!

Red realizes she is in a real tight spot and she tries to withdraw flying straight up through the opening in the ceiling however as she tries to fly away Riptide reacts and with his floppy arms is able to pierce her through the chest, arresting her flight.

Cirri gets whacked midflight and comes to her senses. Checking her many wounds, Cirri decides to stay back and throw a magical snowball at the pink-feathered harpy before blowing her tongue mockingly.

Cirri provoke as she left Pink's range, so she should be out of melee and can use a ranged magic spell without provoking again.

Mutahir gestures wildly at the Harpies, just wishing they'd come down and fight on his level.

Cirri tries throwing a hard-packed magic snowball at one, comes close to hitting but she nimbly dodges out of the way, laughing in her soprano voice as she does.

Antonella throws out a high kick but only manages to graze the harpy, her tough hide absorbing the majority of the blow.

Kel draws a wand and fires off a tried and true magic missile at the blue feathered harpy. His eagles continue to try and damage the Harpy but their talons prove no match for her tough fiendish hide.

Riptide barrels forward and even with the flanking eagles to help he just barely misses his jab! Taking out a serious chunk of stone from the column as he misses.

The Pink Harpy realizes the danger Blue is in and begins singing trying to distract a few of you!

Alas, 40' is out of reach. Pretty sure you meant Blue is up 40', but rather than cause delay waiting for clarification, just doing long post to cover the various possibilities: if Pink is 35' or less in height, Riptide'll melee attack her with longspear. If pink and blue are more than 35' up, he'll try to throw his longspear at pink, with -4 to hit for improvised.

If pink was more than 35' up, then here's the improvised toss of long spear. It's a full-round action to toss, so he'd be by Blue's pillar, but he'll take 5' step toward pink.

Oh yeah I meant Blue is 40 feet up and badly wounded, wasn't sure if you'd be able to reach her, Pink is just chilling on her post, 20 feet up like normal.

Kel shakes off the Harpies Song and fires off a magic missile as the Blue Feathered Harpy tries to escape and he blasts her, downing her where she drops to the floor dead.

Meanwhile Riptide stabs into the Pink Harpy, the only left standing and punches through her tough hide delivering a nearly fatal blow. Somehow she staggers on.

Grease: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Riddywhipple tries to trip up the Harpy but she manages to stay on her post.

Knowing her only hope of surviving is to run away she tries withdrawing up through the same hole blue tried to leave from but Riptide is ready and stabs her, impaling a second Harpy upon his spear that attempted to fly away.

The priestess gathers the injured together and invites them to lay on their backs and relax in Corpse pose.

Her gentle tone becomes almost hypnotic “Place your palms facing up towards Axis … Bring your awareness into your breath ... Breathe deeply through your nose ... As you exhale try to direct the breath to the areas that are causing you pain …”

Cirri comes to as Riptide tears into the last harpy. "Oh! Did we win? I guess so, since we're not lunch, or something worse..." Cirri shudders and lands.

"Thanks for the healing, Antonella. I brought a wand along for individual healing if you need it." Cirri offers her wand.

Cirri examines the impaled harpies with a mix of curiosity and regret. "I've always wondered what drove them to be so evil. When I was young I thought my birth mother was a harpy, or maybe a mermaid. But..." she shakes her head.

"I tried hitting one of them and she seemed to resist some of the impact. I was trying to think up a way around that but I lost my concentration. Repeatedly." Cirri chuckles nervously.

Riddywhipple flies back on her shoulder. "Well now you know why they say 'Don't feed the birds!"
