Brallenera Thalkham |
Brallenera takes her heavy mace, looking ready for a fight.
Awww, I already died, once. When and how, I don't remember, but you won't scare me with your threats. Want to back up your words, bonyhead?
Should I assume that Songbird healed me?
Las Lajas |
From behind both the tengu and the dwarf, Las invokes his wayfinder and tries to talk with the skeleton,
"Why are you here? What do you guard?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
GM Chyro |
The skeleton swirls his scimitar, ending it with a sharp accusing pointing at Las Lajas. It shakes its head menacingly.
----------------------------
Brallenera: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Joseph: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Las Lajas: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Ting Tang: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Skeleton: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Skeleton, round 1
Skelton takes total defence.

Joseph
Las Lajas & Ting Tang
Brallenera
Ting Tang |
oops, sorry GM Chyro I forgot you rolled init, I like yours better
Ting lifts his shield, taking a second to study the skeleton and then he steps forward trying to slam the creature in the jaw with the rim of his shield.
AC 22 with shield, move action: studied target, 5 ft step. Attack: shield
attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 1 = 14 for damage: 1d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
Edit: just thought about it, does ting get to add the shield if he is attacking with it?
Edit#2: sorry, just checked, he can't do both so his AC with the attack is still 20.
Las Lajas |
Las, whip already in hand, steps closer and studies the skeleton for weaknesses and readies his whip for when the skeleton drops his defensive stance.
Ready action to Disarm (includes Studied Combat+Bard Song): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Las Lajas |
Las calls out to Brallenera, "Flank it while it's on the defensive."
GM Chyro |
Joseph and Las Lajas make their quick preparations, and Ting Tang makes the first attack.
His aim was somewhat short, and the skeleton remains untouched.
Brallenera
Brallenera Thalkham |
Brallenera moves on the other side of the skeleton and tries to hit it with her mace.
Perhaps she's too used to her axe, as her blow is quite clumsy
Attack with Mace, Bard song: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 = 18 Not sure if I can add the flanking bonus
bludgeoning dmg, bard song: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 = 11
GM Chyro |
The skeleton stands valiantly, as Brallenera's attack flies past its bones.
---------------
Skeleton, round 2
The skeleton lets our a cry to demoralize Ting Tang.
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25
Las Lajas: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Battle cry, DC 15: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Ting Tang is shaken for one round.
--------------------
Joseph
Las Lajas & Ting Tang
Brallenera
Las Lajas |
Did Las' 24 beat the skeleton's CMD to disarm it?
Las Lajas |
Since Total Defense only lasts 1 round, Las should be able to attack exactly when it drops.
GM Chyro |
I had thought it would mean when the skeleton would choose to attack, but yes, it does beat it.
If it was to be at any action, then roll me a will save DC 17.
Las Lajas |
I was timing the attack not on its action, but on Total Defense dropping after 1 round. But I suppose that's the same thing as attacking for any action which does not include Total Defense
Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
GM Chyro |
Nothing amiss here, as far as you know. ;)
Las Lajas let his whip go off, after the battlecry, and although his whip's strike is accurate enough, it seems to not properly connect to yank the scimitar out of its hands.
Joseph
Las Lajas & Ting Tang
Brallenera
Las Lajas |
Las takes a 5' step and tries again.
Disasrm: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Ting Tang |
Ting, unnerved by the haunting cry of the undead, is so shaken by the sound drops his shield Squawk!" Ever so slightly regaining his nerve he grabs his bastard sword in both hands and swings it at the skeleton.
full attack/flank: bastard sword: power attack, furious focus, studied target, flank, dirty fighter, bard song and shaken. I can't tell by the map if they are flanking or not, if not please subtract the +3 from the attack roll.
attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 15 for damage: 1d10 + 6 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 6 + 1 + 1 = 24
crap, he rolled a 3, what are the odds a 15 hits?
GM Chyro |
Not high my friend.
Ting Tang's attack is slightly off, the head of the skeleton slightly leaning sideways, in a silent 'done?'.
Las Lajas makes another fine strike with his whip.
Can i get a will save please.
Joseph
Brallenera
Las Lajas |
What am I saving against?
GM Chyro |
:) I can't spoiler it, now can i?
All will be revealed if you pass.
Las Lajas |
Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
If needed, I'll burn two Inspiration to boost my will save Inspir: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Actually, since I rolled a 1 and auto fail, I will not use my Inspiration
GM Chyro |
Las Lajas' whip is dead accurate again, but his whip doesn't grab hold of the weapon. Like with Ting Tang, the skull's angle is mocking him.
Joseph
Brallenera
Lord Joseph Wraitheart |
Joseph steps forward and then attempts to thrust his blade into the creature.
I forgot to instead draw a mace so he's attempting to kill what I believe is a skeletal creature...
attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 10
damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3
GM Chyro |
The skeleton seems an elusive foe, as only Las Lajas had managed to land a precise strike, sort of.
Brallenera
Las Lajas |
Technically you're not in flanking position. You both need to move over 5'
GM Chyro |
Only part of a bench is in those squares, with a step they can start flanking.
Brallenera Thalkham |
takes the flanking-needed step
Attack, Songbird, Flanking: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 14
dmg, Songbird: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
Awww, can't believe I miss again.
GM Chyro |
The GM is having fun with this encounter :)
Skeleton, round 3
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
The skeleton lets out a battle cry at Las Lajas.
Intimidate, DC 17: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Who is shaken for 1 round.
---------------------------
Joseph
Las Lajas & Ting Tang
Brallenera
Ting Tang |
ting also takes a step, cocking his head, ""ang on 'air gov'n'r, don't be's scared o' no cryin' skeleton, wroight" He then attacks the undead with his sword.
full attack/flank: bastard sword-two handed: power attack, furious focus, studied target, flank, dirty fighter, bard song.
attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 26 for damage: 1d10 + 6 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 6 + 1 + 1 = 16
GM Chyro |
Something in the skeleton seems weird, with Las Lajas' strikes sharp enough to hit yet not connecting, could this be a mirage or a fake?
With this, to all, if you hit the skeleton's AC 16, you can make a will save. If you pass DC 17, see Ting Tang's spoiler.
Las Lajas |
Las goes total defense, and with Ting's latest failure, Las, even in his state of fear, states the obvious
"Twice I should have disarmed it and yet nothing. The skeleton does not attack. Joseph, can you detect magic and see if this is an illusion?"
Lord Joseph Wraitheart |
Joseph enchants his weapon and attemps to make another strike with it.
attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 21
damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 + 1 = 9
rapier so...not much damage
Brallenera Thalkham |
Hit or miss?: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 1 = 16
Dmg: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 Add +2 if magic
Awww, I don't like tricks.
GM Chyro |
Will Joseph: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Although Joseph jabs pretty accurately, it doesn't harm the skeleton.
But Joseph doesn't think much of it.
Las Lajas ponders the skeleton and goes on the defensive, while Ting Tang's strike doesn't ham the skeleton either.
Brallenera's axe hits too, maybe it's got some big resistances to slashing now too? Who knows......but she doesn't this round.
--------------------------
Skeleton, round 4
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 71d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
But the boney warrior now makes a slice at Brallenera, a futile aim, but it still goes on the offensive.

Las Lajas |
Las convinced this is an illusion, pulls some meditation tea from his haversack and drinks it.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Price 30 gp; Weight —
Drinking this cloudy tea has a soothing effect that clarifies your thoughts. For 10 minutes after drinking the tea, you gain a +2 alchemical bonus against mind-affecting effects. If you drink meditation tea while suffering from a mind-affecting affect, you may immediately roll another saving throw (with the +2 bonus) against the effect; you may gain this particular benefit only once per day.
Ting Tang |
Seeing everyone else continue attacking the possibly intangible skeleton, ting shrugs his shoulders and grasping his sword in both talons again, he swings it at the creature. "We'lls I ain't adverse ta tryin' ta put tha thing down, wroight."
full attack/flank: bastard sword-two handed: power attack, furious focus, studied target, flank, dirty fighter, bard song.
attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 19 for damage: 1d10 + 6 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 6 + 1 + 1 = 19
GM Chyro |
Las Lajas, what is the perception roll for?
Ting Tang's attack deals no harm to the skeleton warrior, yet its head's angle mocks him again.
Las Lajas drinks some tea, and feels refreshed......
By Jove! this isn't time for tea, it's combat, for the queen's sake!
Joseph

Lol, also how'd you boil the water in the haversack before drinking? Unless you have a thermose?
attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 27
damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5
Another Will save?
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
GM Chyro |
Joseph now likewise sees the skeleton is fake.
If only our resident barbarian joins the realization....... :)
Lord Joseph Wraitheart |
Joseph now likewise sees the skeleton is fake.
If only our resident barbarian joins the realization....... :)
Joseph sighs at the situation and looks to Brallenra.
"It's an illusion. Shake yourself out of it."If she still continues fighting it, I'll counter song and she can break out of it.
GM Chyro |
Joseph, countersong is against sound based spells.
These are illusions.
By now, the four of you have realized you have been fighting air, and the skeleton is still motionless on the floor.
....well, that was awkward, where from here?
The other room, the reception, or ignore and further?
Ting Tang |
ting shrugs his shoulders like he expects enemies to be air, "We'lls 'at was easy enough. I's'l takes a look-see's afore we's 'ead out wroight."
He then slowly takes a look around the room steeping carefully and sometimes hopping, like a crow. then he inspects the door.
Ting will take 20 (30) on perception for the room and the door heading to the east.
GM Chyro |
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32
When Ting Tang is about to take his time to search the room, the boney hand of the skeleton starts floating, detached from the rest of the skeleton, pointing with its index finger at him, before sharply motioning into the main room.
Quick normal perception roll then.
