GM Chyro |
Hmm, then that confusion is on my account.
As that perception roll was for during the walk.
The 15 & 21 was general perception for the runic decorations.
Though, if reading the perception spoilers, it's more logical for general perception when speaking of a secret door and special socket.
Shonne |

Um, not speaking dwarf, I don't really understand what that means. ;)
Lord Joseph Wraitheart |
Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
ouch
Joseph falls down hard and smacks his head, blood coming from his temple. For a second he's stunned and unconcious, but wakes up, groaning and standing up.
"Where am I? Oh, I guess Joseph fell asleep" he states in a feminine voice as he looks around the room and his eyes settle on the Elf. "Your new or did our friend have a sex change?" anyone knowing Joseph for a while or even seeing how he acted until now can see this is very strange as his posture is different, more incline to look people in there eye where as in the past he avoids eye contact and giving a outward feeling of power and leadership. He whips out a wand and begins to apply it to himself.
Using male terms as no one really knows what's going on in his mind.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Brallenera Thalkham |
Not paying attention to the fate of Songbird, Brallenera looks at the runes again
Awww, I want to try it again! Maybe I should work in the other way... It's not art that support the glory of kings, but the kings that found glory in art? I think I got it... Cause, you know, Sarenaen, kings rarely have talent (or time) for arts. But they got money, so they can pay for the work of artists, and be forever known too. This is very interesting..
Brallenera presses "king" "found" glory" "art" "support" and waits impatiently, giggling
GM Chyro |
[GM does the giggling smirking]
BULLRUSH WALL, take 2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Care to roll again? :3
Lord Joseph Wraitheart |
Another DC 20?
Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
this time 'Joseph' manages to avoid the trap and rolls eyes at the Dwarf.
"Perhaps we should take a less, physical approach and think on this." 'Joseph' states with a tut.
GM Chyro |
No Joseph, timewise you're still down below.
Ahem.... :3
With Joseph/Julia having healed up, there's a sound of a familiar voice closing in, ending with a firm [THUD], next to him.
Rumble, tumble, jumble: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 1) = 8
The others are taking a break, while the duo makes their way back up.
Anybody who wants to roll for the perception DC 21?
Shonne |
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Apparently not. But standing away from the bull rushing wall, Shonne is content to continue watching. ;)
GM Chyro |
Hmmm....
With plenty of time, and the only danger a wall waiting to bullrush you again.....you decide to rethink strategy and take a thorough, thorough look.
A.k.a., take 20?
Alternatively, let's see if our dwarfess interprets the following before you do it.
------------------
Brallenera, slightly frustrated, recalls a spiriting verse usually sang in the halls of warriors in the sky citadels.
Remembrance we mind~~~in tales, for all time!
Our lords, lead us~~into the fraaay!
Discovered the riches and drank the ale, no-use for sculptures here!
Come join us~~lords, together us dwarfs will stand!
Brallenera Thalkham |
With my DR 1, how much damage do I take, out of the 8? 7? Or one less damage per die, so 4? Takes 20 in Perception for 26 total
Aww, there's a little hole here, on the king's crown. Maybe we should put the pearl here? Does it fit? Try to put it in this small hole, Sarenaen.
Of course, Brallenera sees no malice in the last sentence
Awww, I'm not tall enough..
GM Chyro |
I haven't considered DR outside of combat..lol.
Also....boo, for not sharing thoughts on the solution. :)
Read spoiler 21.
GM Chyro |
You hear a click and the door opens.
Success!
I don't have the pdf on tablet, updating tonight.
Ala’Ihys the Archer |
Immediately after the sound of the click is heard, Ala'Ihys utters an audible sigh of relief as he wipes off his forehead with the loose end of his turban, smiling and bowing ever so slightly to Shonne, Julia and Brallenera he says as he draws his bow: "After you ladies, we followers of the Dawn Flower are nothing if not feminists."
Shonne |
"And yet you do not think that we can make our own decisions?"
Shonne moves slowly because of the poison and still seems mightily wounded. She takes regard until she is adequately healed.
GM Chyro |
The verse had other words for the correct order.
Remembrance - Glory
Our lords - Kings
Discovered - Found
Sculptures - Art
Together we stand - Support
--------------------------
The glory of kings is found in the art they support.
Entering, faint funky smell enters your nostrils. There is a door to your left and the funky smell gets more precise as you'd go further.
Ala’Ihys the Archer |
"And yet you do not think that we can make our own decisions?"
Shonne moves slowly because of the poison and still seems mightily wounded. She takes regard until she is adequately healed.
Ala'Ihys looks at the elf a little confused 'Make their own decisions?' but it is forgotten when he notices she is moving slowly, He asks, "May I help with the pain a little?" Turning back to the bard he ask, "Would you pull that wand out? We don't want Shonne here to suffer, do we?"
LOH: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
Lord Joseph Wraitheart |
Ala'Ihys is just stared at in curiosity after what he had just said and looks to Shonne.
"Will you require any more healing?" Joseph asks with that still highly effeminate voice, drawing out a wand ready.
Julia is now suspicious of the Paladin as he's addressed her as a woman, yet doesn't yet appear to have confronted either of them about this, nor the behaviour change. Is he just accepting this to make things easier or is he accepting it because he sees the true light that is Lamashtu?
GM Chyro |
That's a possibility as well ;)
What's next, what will the gang do?
Shonne |
Ala'Ihys is just stared at in curiosity after what he had just said and looks to Shonne.
"Will you require any more healing?" Joseph asks with that still highly effeminate voice, drawing out a wand ready.
"No. That should be sufficient."
GM Chyro |
You enter the room, the funky smell now quite clear.
A nauseating wonderland of giant fungi fills the hallway. Mold obscures the walls’ carved adornments. A narrow footpath winds among towering mushrooms, all lit by the unwholesome blue glow of mold.
This is difficult terrain.
From your orientation, there are two paths here, west and north.
GM Chyro |
That's west from your point of view.
Walking through the passage to your right, you come upon a door half way and see another further along to your left. Near that one, there is a small passage way to your right.
Ala’Ihys the Archer |
Ala'Ihys nods, as Brallenera points the direction she wants to go, "Lead on brave Brallenera, I will attempt to keep you covered" Taking his place in line third or fourth? he follows his dwarven friend into the passage way, seeing the door on the right he asks, "Shall we start with this door on the right?"
GM Chyro |
Patches of dimly glowing fungi reveal a complex dwarven workshop. A wall of kilns, ovens and forges divides the workshop into two vast chambers, each crowded with unfinished sculptures, cobweb-covered tool racks and
tables heaped with rusted detritus.
The workshop’s ancient, splintering floorboards sag beneath heaped debris. Holes and cracked planks reveal an open space below the cluttered chamber, evidently accessed via stairways on the southern half of the room.
Twenty feet overhead, cobweb-covered booms and racks support hanging crucibles and massive chains for hoisting quarried stone.
It's still sturdy...cause it's dwaren. :)
Onwards, or take around a corner for more?
Lord Joseph Wraitheart |
And nobody notices the tome where a dwarf had written down "Cannot get out. They're coming." as he final words...okay I think that's enough LoTR references for this adventure :p
"Joseph" decides to look over the forges, curious of any little trinkets that might be hidden away.
Perception to Assist: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4 Failed to assist
GM Chyro |
Due to debris and clutter, the outer stone walkway is considered difficult terrain.
As the party enters the room, with Brallenera leading.....

A dart just misses Brallenera. Looking to the side, she sees another mite.
[Jibberish]
"Intruders, attack!"
The ground between the mite and yourself seems unstable.

Awww, you don't like cold iron? Thats a shame.. how about a cold iron axe made by the greatest dwarf smiths?

Ala’Ihys the Archer |
Due to debris and clutter, the outer stone walkway is considered difficult terrain.
As he watches the floor go out from under Brallenera, Stepping towards the pit she fell into,5 ft step if possible Ala'Ihys fires two arrows at the mite standing on the northern wall. "We will not permit you to continue assaulting our new friend" calling down to Brallenera "Are you ok Brallenera? we will get you out in a jiffy!"
Full attack: point blank shot, deadly shot, precise shot, MW composite logbow (+2)
attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 - 2 - 1 + 1 = 22 for damage: 1d8 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 11
attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 8 - 2 - 1 + 1 = 15 for damage: 1d8 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 9
So the rectangular area marked 8 and its mirror image are 10 ft down and brallenera's pit is 20ft and not attached to the other two.
GM Chyro |
Right, since i couldn't remove layers from an image i copied, i had to, crudely, cover it up. There is nothing in that square, save for.....

Dammit I wish I had taken Undercommon instead of Goblin...then again in one mission the group was screwed over because none of us knew Goblin. :p
Joseph, once again with a Feminine voice, clears his throat and begins to recite a exciting story of invaders in a homeland far away. Claiming to be in the right as they slaughtered every creature they came across, but only by praying to a benevolent deity did they gain the strength to fight back and over-power the invaders who dared to walk upon their lands and speak of justice.
Inspire courage, a curious tale with no mention of what species nor what it might be referring to.
GM Chyro |
With Joseph starting an unusualy inspiring tale, the other mites come into action, as they move about unseen...unknown to be there to you...to boot. :)
