GM Chyro |
Because we need a discussion part too.....is the geast in general.
I work with google docs for the maps.
For combat i'll roll initiative to keep it fast.
Fosco Whetherbee |
Checking in, halfling summoner ready for anything.
Short, cute, quite and polite, this halfling is dressed in red and black and keep his chin down, often only looking at people through his eyebrows. He keeps his eidolon unsummoned and his infernal powers hidden unless he's specifically asked or the direst need is upon them.
Thanks for the opportunity, look forward to playing with everyone.
Asami |
Here as well. Tall and cuter, not as quiet and definitely less polite, this human is quite a joy to have around. She is very much against hiding her powers and talents.
Woah, I think Asami is the anti-Fosco!
GM Chyro |
Weither or not something or someone is quite depends on the person you're asking. To orcs, you're just lunch.
To your fellow halflings, that huge chin might be cute, who knows.
^^
Sele the Thorn |
Well to us snakes your all tasty.. luckily I'm a nice snake... ;-)
GM Chyro |
As are the barbequed ones on a stick i saw on a market in China, from what the guide told me.
Sele the Thorn |
Sele is updated, new equipment and such..
GM Chyro |
Neat, i see you come prepared against swarms.
Sele the Thorn |
Yes after the last experience... yes
GM Chyro |
Let me comfort you in advance with the fact no swarms are in this scenario.
Sele the Thorn |
Well fire/acid to the face of anything bug/swarm like... swish.. swish..
Asami |
Done updating Asami. She is ready now.
Running a game for the girls was fun. I learned I am a bad GM from the mechanics perspective, and don't know the rules well enough to keep the flow going when there's a lot going on (three characters, 3 animal companions plus an NPC party member didn't help things). The saving grace - the final battle was epic for my girls. Even I felt the energy. They're chomping to do more, and my youngest said that was the "best story" I ever did with them (I do impromptu story telling with them). So, I struggled a lot, but there may be hope for me as a GM yet.
DM DoctorEvil |
You will work the mechanics out with practice. Many GM's are all rules and mechanics, and get stuck in the storytelling/roleplaying aspects. If you can tell a good story, you will be a terrific GM with enough practice to be comfortable. Even the most seasoned GM's get tripped up by the rules occasionally.
GM Chyro |
I enjoy a good book, if things are told properly it "catches" you, catch my drift. Something so you can visualize the thing going on.
So my aim is that as well. I'll refer to the saying "practice makes perfect", but the latter word can be replaced by 'great', since DoctorEvil makes a valid point about seasoned GMs.
GM Chyro |
Sele, you've just been called a woman by our very perceptive fox lady.
GM Chyro |
These rats have a mere 5 hp, this aught to be a walk in the park.
Sele the Thorn |
Lets see if I can follow the standard pattern. .. miss miss splat
Keera Airbornt |
Re-reading the posts, I´ve came to a question:
How do yo difference a Male-Nagaji of a Female-Nagaji? Serpents don´t have a pronunced sexual dimorphism, and I´m not going to check under the armor, ;D.
I laughed a lot with the confussion
GM Chyro |
May i point out it's likely humanoids in general would be distinguishable by the female curves. As well as voice. ^^
Sele the Thorn |
Played with my character sheet a bit should be much easier to make out the stats etc.. Added a single crunch rather than multiple small ones.
GM Chyro |
Friendly nudge, may i suggest you corner him before he goes *poof* again.
Asami |
Drat, all suave, no bite!
Asami would not have taken the silver dagger. She has one of her own, and she's much better with a rapier than anything else and would stick with it unless it's just patently bad.
Of course, after this latest display of poor swordsmanship...
GM Chyro |
Imps have DR5 silver/good. Electricity would work.
Nym would know this after he made that kn. planes roll.
Asami |
With DR5, Asami is staying with her trusty rapier. The bonus to hit and damage makes it the better option. Assuming she gets on a roll with the rolls, that is. I wonder at what level this will start to become a serious problem.
GM Chyro |
Asami and her dirty mind...I had to read that twice. o.O
Then i'm to assume you failed the secret message earlier on on the post where the roc attacked. XD
Nym Nightshade |
Which really wouldn't be all that far...
Keera Airbornt |
Asami, I need you to explain me something.
I'll make sure our paladin friend dresses them down
I´ll have to translate "dresses" and my dictionary says it don´t exists, and the more similar word means "clothes".
So, Sele is going to undress Keera? Because she has been a bad girl?
I´m unsure if Auntie Baldwin will consider this a punishment for being a tresspaser.
But if it´s neccesary for the Pathfinder Society, Keera will agree with doing this in private and not doing an spectacle about it.
;D
Nym Nightshade |
Dresses down is an idiom meaning berate. Like what a drill sergeant does to a bad recruit. Not exactly sure where the meaning comes from except for stripping you of your pride...
I have to admit, the other thought sounds a lot more fun...
GM Chyro |
On the map, ignore the ugliness of 4 squares, i like to give a face to the NPC you'll be clobbing down, opposed to a mere circle with a letter.
Also, if you've any healing left, i suggest you do so.
Sele the Thorn |
I think you made that bit work too perfect for them.. just out of nowhere.. where they can't see either the halfling finds me no worries and then asami...? You wrote total concealment outside 5 foot, means no one can see anything including them.
He can't charge, so he would have to move and that should give us a perception roll, then if he finds one of us he would be able to attack.
GM Chyro |
Fast movement, this halfling is a barbarian, he didn't charge.
Before the mist came down, they see where you are. Since you guys have a fixed position and they got the surprise round, he moves there and strikes at the 1st he sees. 1 on 1 there's the 20% miss chance, beyond that square distance it's 50%.
I just got lucky dice and i feel bad, if that's a comfort.
When i played we were a 4 player party, Ledford & co rolled generally poorly.
The pdf mentions the perception rolls on the travels gives the option to notice them as the hostiles, and allows acting in their surprise round.
Sele the Thorn |
Thats flatout ridiculous we have been ambushed by non stealthy who we didn't perceive.. i see no rolls.. who could see us... if i as a pc wanted to pull this off i couldn't there would be too many perception rolls. As it is get ready for tpk cos i feek it was made way too easy for the bad guys.
GM Chyro |
I can understand arguments, but would present these;
For them not be able to see you, they set you up, pre determined.
When i was a PC, we didn't get perception rolls in that encounter, but we passed the rolls and via that, noticed it was a setup.
If any PCs made their Perception or Sense Motive checks to notice the thugs watching them as they traveled about the city, they recognize one of their attackers just before the ambush, realizing that they’ve seen the thug’s face before. These PCs may act in the surprise round.
Asami |
That's fine. I get they have surprise round, and the barbarian beat us on initiative for the first round. But, I think only one of us goes down if he didn't charge. The surprise round is SA only, not Full Round. So, he moves or attacks, but not both.
As i understand it, he approaches us during the surprise round, and that's all he gets. Then, first round, he takes someone out.
Sele the Thorn |
I rolled a 22 for my per roll and keera didn't get one obviously missing your roll request..
GM Directed per roll
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
This was page 3
Asami |
I think, if the roll of 22 makes it, Sele gets a standard action during the surprise round as well, after the barbarian moves in.
Sadly, I can't picture any reasonable paladin action that changes what happens round one. Unless Sele walks around town with a drawn weapon.
This is one weird encounter. Asami is just going to watch what happens with bated breath. Hope this resolves everything. Go Sele!
Final Encounter. Take 2. :P
GM Chyro |
You are totally correct Sele, i apologize on that. So before the halfling would pop up, what will you do.
Sele the Thorn |
Afaik each person should get a per and sense motive roll and anyone that passes either gets to act.
GM Chyro |
@Sele, the pdf mentions only those conditions. They'd have mentioned otherwise if that were the case.
@Keera, they saw you guys prior to the fog coming down. They had led you here so know your place of arrival.
