Rosaline mumbles unhelpfully and wipes away the blood from her spears. Then she continues over to Oliveo and the strange idol.

"Hmm." she glares at the idol. "That is an oddly specific curse. Almost like something one would put on an unruly child to get them to the temple ..."

Focusing Detect Evil on the idol then casting Detect Magic. After briefly examining the idol (Rosaline's skills at magic isn't really suitable for that) she'll continue and look around with Detect Magic in the room.

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

Rosaline: You experience visions of benighted winter woods where snow-laden conifers are hung with all manner of grisly and unidentifiable fetishes, though who or what these represent is unclear.
There are no other effects, however.

Perfectly transparent crystalline stairs without any visible means of support descend forty feet to the floor of this chamber. A narrow arrow slit in the south turret allows a gust of cold wind to enter and stir the many hide and stick fetishes that have been arrayed around an altar of black stone on a short dais at the north end of the room. The altar stone is wholly unlike any stone found on this part of Golarion; it is composed of black and charcoal-gray striations and radiates intense cold even in this already dangerously cold environment.
In this room you find a troll. He resembles a normal troll, but his hide is a mottled dark blue and gray, his limbs are twisted and misshapen, and he stands almost 20 feet tall.
Visitors? How nice! He says when you come into view. The others were always so boring.

Oliveo smiles, "If you're looking to stave off boredom, I can offer a rousing tale. But first, my name is Oliveo. Artarguilus asked that we not disturb you and I want to keep my word there, so if you desire to be left to your business simply let us know and we'll turn around now.

"If on the other hand you want a tale to raise the hairs on your spine or to bring light to your day, I can oblige...and I'd be quite interested to hear your own tale as well. This is quite a place for a shrine, and I'll imagine you don't get a lot of visitors (until recently). What keeps you here inside the Veil?"

A massive double portal composed of two white stone doors dominates the north wall of this sixty-foot-high chamber at the top of the stairs. Its surface bears a scene of craggy, snow-clad peaks in relief beneath the cavorting forms of unidentifiable creatures. The lintel above the door bears an inscription in ancient runes. Bloodstains mar the floor of the chamber, and piles of garbage have been swept into the corners.

All that is secondary to the absolutely terrifying Giant in the room. And the frost giants, gnarled and otherwise, don't count. In the corner, standing at probably 50 feet tall, is an Abyss armored hulk wielding an adamantine warhammer of staggering size. This ebon-skinned monstrosity has a gaping maw with boar-like tusks and a wide nose beneath a furrowed brow that lacks any sort of eyes or visible visual organs. Its corded muscles twist and writhe beneath its smooth, hairless jet hide, giving its frame a gnarled, unbalanced asymmetry. It moves with a loping gait, however, and wears its armor, composed of thick, welded plates, effortlessly.

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

Oliveo:
Spawned from titans who took refuge in the rifts of the
Abyss, the Abyss gigas roam the wastes between the oncemighty
titan fortresses. These powerful beings do not
typically dwell among their own kind, preferring instead
to enslave lesser beings—demons and captured planar
travelers—and rule over them as despotic tyrants. Many
Abyss gigas serve more powerful demon lords in turn.
When more than one of the thankfully rare Abyss gigas
live near each other, they exist in a state of perpetual
warfare, sending forth wave after wave of their minions in
battle. In these situations, only rarely do the gigas masters
ever face each other and come to blows, and even then
never to the death, as they are aware of the fragile existence
of their nearly extinct race. When facing other opponents,
however, an Abyss gigas is a fearsome foe, battling to the
death to prove the superiority of its ancient line.
When encountered on the Material Plane, Abyss gigas
are fond of taking control of companies of giants and
compelling them to do their bidding, feeling at once
both a distant kinship and a sense of domineering
superiority. Frost giant cults of Kostchtchie are frequent
recipients of this sort of attention.
Abyss gigas stand over 50 feet tall and weigh 25 tons
or more, not including the weight of their Abyss-forged
armor and weapons of adamantine. Abyss gigas usually
favor the weapons of their demonic patrons. For example,
followers of Kostchtchie often wield giant warhammers
in both hands, servants of Lamashtu carry falchions, and
those serving Urxehl use spiked greatclubs.

This one's defences are hefty, but simple. A good amount of impassable DR, electricity immunity, general energy resistance, and a boatload of HP

I forgot to mention some other foes. There are three gnarled giants like the one you pinned to the wall here as well as a winter wolf.

Taking a breath during his song, Oliveo adds, "That biggie's an Abyss Gigas, by the way. Fairly tough to hurt with energy or blows (not that Rosa's having any problem!) and impossible to hurt with lightning. Judging from his weapon, he serves Kostchtchie."

The Gigas and one giant are unaffected by Oliveo's spell. The others slow to a crawl.
The wolf doesn't have time to fret, however, as Asselus vivisects it where it stands.

The drawback, is that he's the only one in easy striking distance...
5d20 ⇒ (5, 1, 10, 7, 5) = 28
8d6 + 38 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 6, 3, 1, 2, 2) + 38 = 65

Weapons rain around him, but the elf dodges the frost giant's clumsy swings without much trouble. The Gigas is a different story. His cruel intelligence is on full display, waiting until just after a dodge to catch the agile elf on his heels. Two blows impact Asselus to devastating effect.
The giants are all within 10'of asselus now and he takes 65 bludgeoning damage.

I had thought i had posted *shakes fists at paizo*

He lost all the oxygen in his body as the creature struck him glancing blows twice. He moved still however by force of habit if anything. Standing still would no doubt leave him a bloody spot on the floor. He took two steps to the side and flipped closing with the giant on the far left. He cut low with Grace before spinning away once more utilizing his agile nature to confound any strikes against him.

7d20 ⇒ (19, 16, 20, 6, 5, 2, 2) = 70

The gigas resists the spell, but the lesser giant's mind is turned to putty and he starts babbling about some demented kind of halfling stew.

Rosaline cuts one giant down in a tremendous show of force. Asselus starts disassembling the one over on the left.

Oliveo's tirade is so incredibly virulent that every last giant bursts into flame... And keeps burning! They howl in pain.
In all, Ferric has taken a beating. But he has strength enough for smearing mouthy asimar!

He side steps the annoying spirit, snapping the doubly annoying webbing cast by that spider lady in the process. He strikes against the true foe, one who would wound his pride and challenge him in his own language! The hammer is a lot bigger up close than Rosaline realized and she takes mighty blow to the shield arm.
Soooo many Negatives! Still managed to land a crit! >:D
Rosaline takes 99 damage.
Party up!

As the mighty (and big. very VERY big) hammer comes crashing down on a direct path to Rosaline's squishy face as she is not wielding her shield at the moment :P she manages to quickly snarl a blessing and laugh in defiance. A burst of blinding light erupts, aiming to throw fate off course ...

@Charlotte/thunderbeard - Rosaline is the half-elf whom is hopefully not a spirit just yet. Rosina is the phantom. Apologies for the similar naming convention :P

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

With Rosaline and Rosa to the front and Asselus to the rear the giant Gigas takes a beating that would make even the mightiest of dragons shudder. He is finally brought down with a crash that would have shattered normal ice, no matter how thick.

The last giant is wacky dispatched, leaving the room eerily quiet.

Combat over

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

With that done, you get to looking through pockets.
You come to realize that the personal guard of the witch Ilivorr Karanasi has been here, and has been devoured by the winter wolf. Their mundane equipment has been ruined and thrown on the garbage heaps that stand against the walls of this room. However, their valuables were taken by Ferric and are carried in his bag. It contains five suits of masterwork chainmail, a +2 heavy wooden shield, a +1 shock light crossbow, two potions of lesser restoration, a belt of physical might +2
(Strength and Constitution), and a backpack holding 1,975 gp. The other giants carry a total of 2,200 gp in coins and semiprecious stones.
Now that you have a moment to look about, a massive double portal composed of two white stone doors dominates the north wall of this sixty-foot-high chamber. This is the remains of whomever the Witch left here, no doubt.

DC 27 Knowledge (planes):

The strangely disturbing creatures depicted only as things from beyond the known planes that are sometimes vaguely affiliated with Baba Yaga.

DC 37 Perception:

You spot one creature among the reliefs
that can be positively identified as a wendigo.

The doors themselves are of no known type of stone and are apparently locked without handle, lock, or hinges. In fact, they are entirely impregnable to all forms of physical or magical penetration, including divination magic such as scrying, as are the walls of this chamber. The inscription above the door is in an archaic form of Skald (legible to speakers of that language with a DC 17 Intelligence check or DC 12 Linguistics check) and says, “Only by the Power of Faith shall ye pass Beyond.”

Perception: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 37

"Hmm..." Charlotte ponders. "If the giants are getting bigger, we're getting closer, right?"

144/176 Hp |AC 30; 14; 29 | Fort +20; Ref +12; Will +16 | Immune: Fatigue, Poison, Disease, Sleep | Init +11 (+2) | Per +23; Low-light vision, (Constant Detect Evil) | Active Effects:

"Hah!" Rosaline exclaimed in joyous victory. She quickly followed it with an "Ow!" as now dared to actually acknowledge her injuries. But she took a moment to ensure their foes were truly dead before allowing herself to relax and look around in the chamber.

Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (17) + 23 = 40

"Huh. That looks like a Wendigo. Damned sky-runners..." she notes briefly when recognizing only one of the many figures. They weren't really demons so she had little knowledge to bring to the table except a name - and the fact that it seemed to be running in the sky.

OOC note: I'd rate Wendigos as among the more unsettling of monsters in pathfinder!

With a grunt she sat down and cast a baleful glance at the closed doors. "Any ideas on how to open them? If brute force worked I'd assume the giants would have gotten trough by now. And I'm not sure how much larger we'll ever find, haven't seen them in this size before ..."

"I could summon more lava elementals," Charlotte suggests, "But it's probably just a waste of a decent spell. Same goes for teleportation, though I can certainly try to take us all through with that."

Squinting Rosaline leans in closer to the scribbles on the door. With a sneer she poked the unfamiliar script. "Anyone knows how to read this? If I were so inclined I'd wager it's either a riddle or a warning. Either could be helpful ... Best check it out before we try and melt the place again!"

Got the linguistics, sadly not the Skald :P (and not that Rosa doesn't like the thought of melting the place down ^^)

With a small sigh of frustration at the annoying gate Rosaline steps back and starts to cure her wounds. "Anyone else needs something glued back together?"

Cure Wounds!:
Serious: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (8, 5, 8) + 15 = 36
Serious: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (6, 1, 2) + 15 = 24

Serious: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (5, 3, 8) + 15 = 31
Serious: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (7, 8, 8) + 15 = 38

Don't actually need the last one; really nice dice ensured Rosaline is exactly at 176 hp from the first 4 :P
