The Gigas Ferric takes the blow well and laughs at the little inquisitor. Then Alathos ascends to his face and proceeds to deliver a punch to his throat that would have shattered stone. The Gigas chokes, hacks, then spits a glob of bloody phlem the size of a basketball onto Alathos's chest in defiance. The inquisitor tries again and this time his fist manages to sever several important organs and blood vessels in the neck. Ferric gags and twitches before falling still within his prison of light. The other giant is promptly dispatched by Eden and Salrann, but not before it takes out the last remaining angel.

You come to realize that the personal guard of the witch Ilivorr Karanasi have been here, and have been devoured by the winter wolves. Their mundane equipment has been ruined and thrown on the garbage heaps that stand against the walls of this room. However, their valuables were taken by Ferric and are carried in his bag. Its surface bears a scene of craggy, snow-clad peaks in relief beneath the cavorting forms of unidentifiable creatures. The lintel above the door bears an inscription in ancient runes. The doors themselves are of no known type of stone and are apparently locked without handle, lock, or hinges. In fact, they are entirely impregnable to all forms of physical or magical penetration, including divination magic such as scrying, as are the walls of this chamber. The inscription above the door is in an archaic form of Skald (legible to speakers of that language with a DC 17 Intelligence check or DC 12 Linguistics check) and says, “Only by the Power of Faith shall ye pass Beyond.”

Before we continue, is Alathos still with us? It looks like it has been over a month since he lasted posted.

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

I don't know. I've removed the Mighty template from the monsters, so you and Salrann should be able to finish this out. There are three encounters left.

Automatically pass both checks.

Eden shifts back to her natural form and collects the treasure.

"These strangely disturbing creatures depicted only as things from beyond the known planes that are sometimes vaguely affiliated with Baba Yaga," Eden explains to Salrann. "For example, I think one of those things is a Wendigo."

She pauses briefly before asking the group, "Would you all mind if we took a rest? I'm running low on spells, and these giants are have such high fortitude that my transmutation magic is rather... lacking against them. The summons seem to be much more effective."

If she gets approval, Eden casts Mage's Mansion and ushers everyone inside.

I messaged Alathos' player to bump him back in. He lives in Canada, I always blame any transgression on his part on being there. LOL

"That wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Well fought, my friends."

To Eden: "I am not pained for spells, but if you need to rest, we should. You are the spellcasting powerhouse, after all."

Shape Change will last 24 hours due to my Ring of Continuation.

As per Discussion thread, using Blood Money to pay for Gate and then hiring a Star Archon to help us out for the next 21 hours. It will cost 9500 gp, but there's plenty of loot to cover that price. The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

The door is passed in a most unusual manner, and it is Alathos, with his unshakable faith, that figures it out. One must have faith that they can pass. They need not put that faith in any diety, they must simply believe that they can walk through walls, and they do.

On the other side, a gauntlet of negative energy is passed. Salrann keeps everyone up with a Mass Heal (please remove the spell, Eden looses her temp hp), but it is a truly close call. The next chamber is a wall that bears the metaphysically chained victims of Baba Yaga's wrath who were chained to the cliff face before having a waterfall created upon them and then frozen. Spectral hands attempt to drain the life out of the party, but their magic is sufficient to ward off the threat.

At the top of the wall of deadly, grasping ghost hands is a chamber containing a throne. There is a short scuffle with some undead and a negative energy elemental, but the real key is the discovery of the chains that form powerful anti-magic restraints upon the throne. In an adjoining room you face a torturer demon and promptly dispatch him. You make out from the scant clues left that the rebellious witch queen of the Witchwar was brought here to witness her closest family and generals tortured to death.

Continueing on you enter a snow village at the very top of the waterfall. Four great chicken-like footprints mark the spot where Baba Yaga's famous Hut once stood in judgement over the rebel armies. There is a twisted barbarian here who has been afflicted by a Wendingo's curse, but Slarann quickly deals with him.

At last you come to your goal, the clock tower at the center of town. This structure resembles a large, two-story cottage with wide double doors at its front and rear. Above the southern doors is a giant clock face, ten feet in diameter. The clock bears strange, arcane symbols instead of traditional numbers and has four hands—one short, one long, one forked, and one wavy—that appear to be keeping time in no recognizable system. Rows of identical white marble statues depicting a bent old crone holding a scythe with a blade of dull-gray metal stand at the building’s base. These statues appear to be on railed tracks of ice that loop around the sides of the clock building, from one set of double doors to the set on the opposite side. Entering the building physically proves unwise as the constructs on rails rapidly rebuild themselves and are immune to most other magics. Instead, you watch the face of the clock and find your answer.

All three of you participate in decoding the ritual needed to achieve your final destination. It is complex and foreign, but you manage with only a few minor screwups. There is a tingle and you feel yourself pulled along into somewhere else via divine (if a little cold) magics.

You arrive in a chamber that has featureless white stone walls and flooring beneath an equally plain forty-foot-high ceiling. A dark smudge of ash —humanoid in shape— mars one wall. Directly ahead is a
throne of the same white stone, with an inscription on its base. A life-size figure of a beautiful woman carved from ice, with a twisted, rune-scribed golden collar around her neck, sits upon the throne. Before her, a crystalline sphere stands on a white stone pedestal. Opposite her is a wide circle on the wall that displays a blurry image of the cliff outside the Witch Clock. The inscription on the throne is in archaic Skald and states simply, “PAIN IS KNOWLEDGE.”

Mere seconds after your arrival, a wave of terrible magic falls upon you.

To say this foe in unloading on you is an understatement. However, due to spell casting you can locate it's square with a DC 25 perception check, which you automatically make. It is coming from near the roof, 40 feet above you and 30 feet to the right and forward, making it a linear distance of 50 feet from where you are generally standing.

Starman and the Trumpet Archon flair their Aura of Menace.

Aura of Menace (Su): A righteous aura surrounds archons that fight or get angry. Any hostile creature within a 20-foot radius of an archon must succeed on a Will save to resist its effects. The save DC varies with the type of archon, is Charisma-based, and includes a +2 racial bonus. Those who fail take a –2 penalty on attacks, AC, and saves for 24 hours or until they successfully hit the archon that generated the aura. A creature that has resisted or broken the effect cannot be affected again by the same archon's aura for 24 hours.

Starman's AoM DC is 27. The Trumpet Archon's is 22.

It falls on the Starman! His eyes close to resist, but the magic is too much and his eyes open in hostility. He roars a challenge and casts a mighty spell on Eden! Her body shivers as the magics try to force her body to collapse in on itself!
Implosion. Eden, make a DC 29 fort or take 190 points of damage
Party UP!

Int DC 20:
This site was created by Baba Yaga to protect the Torc. It is likely that this curse will persist in jumping from creature to creature until the torc is removed. The exit is behind you, a door that doubles as a portal to the normal world.

He would have to aim at either Salrann or one of my summons. Even though Starman has True Seeing, Eden is under Greater Invisibility and has her Mind Blank-Unbeatable Nondetection combo up, which trumps it. That said, there is a Deva standing next to Eden.

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

I keep forgetting about that combo. He then targets Salrann, because PC's should be threatened when dealing with an intelligent foe. ;)

I will wait for Salrann then because my remaining actions depend on if she makes her save or not.
