Once she finished to read the books, she explains to her comrade what was Thurl's work.
Thurl experimented for years in the creation of Abyssal hybrids. His usual method involved dissecting demon corpses, sewing pieces back together, soldering and animating them with essence derived from Abyssal larvae, and has often discarded imperfect creations.
The books and annotations reference how he had "devised a technique to rival the creative power of Lamashtu’s womb", "gone beyond the limited theories he purchased from Asylnn", "discovered how to harness the power of the marilith".
I have no idea what or who Asylnn is nor what sort of demon a Marilith is.
In her hand she shows a ledger and adds This ledger contains all the trade Thurls made with souls condemned to the Abyss and Abyssal larvae. It seems to me that's Thurl actively participated in the larvae trade, another proof for us of his treachery.

"Actually, I might have a trick in mind..." She smiles faintly.
I think we should take care of the globster before moving on. I'll summon a water elemental to do the heavy lifting.

As for a water elemental, I believe they slam, so wouldn't be doing any damage to this ooze.

Delaying Bullwhip.
A collection of rotting flesh emerges from the pool, and with it comes a terrible stench. It lurches towards Giovanni, and the party's trap is sprung!
Giovanni slashes away at it, cleaving some of the goo off. Gadget blasts the slime with arcane energy, and Caerwynn conjures a ball of flame on top of it.
Reflex Save: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (3) - 3 = 0
A pseudopod of raw flesh reaches forward and tries to slam into Giovanni.
Slam: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 6) + 9 = 17

It slams into him and holds on tightly. The stench of decaying flesh is even worse up close.

Is there any way I could Burning Hands so I don't hit the party. Perhaps angle it upwards? If not, I'll figure something else out.
Gadget is gonna delay either way for Caerwynn since she has a Flaming Sphere out. With it being basically immune to archery, others are better equipped for this battle. (Have a longsword but it's better for others to get in on it.)

The scent of rotting flesh is much too strong for Giovanni, and he gags. Caerwynn briefly enhances his agility, but he's too sick to take advantage of it.

Its greed and hunger spell the end of it as Caerwynn's flaming sphere ruptures the ooze's skin. Ectoplasm spills forth and Giovanni falls in front of the steps.

My apologies! That spell's become such a staple, I completely spaced that it's not Core. I'll consider the slot used as recompense.
Caerwynn peeks around the corner to see if the fight is over. Sighing relief, she cautiously dips her toe in the water. "Are there more of them?"

"Roi. So 'oy deep di yer tink dis pool is?" Bullwhip says examining the water suspiciously.
Caerwynn notices the water is about 8 feet deep - she'd have to tread water or walk with her arms raised up to reach the surface.
Giovanni notes no more traps or hazards in the area. Nothing in this room is important besides the door at the end.

Water fills the entirety of this unfinished stone chamber. Two wide cracks in the northeastern section of the wall connect into a single widening tunnel.
Giovanni notes the water hasn't moved much, and he notices some footprints in the mud.
