This is turning into way too high powered bs. I'm not interested in the game anymore if it goes there. I dont want sky pirates and wonky crap. I thought it was Skull and Shackles...I'm dropping out if the game is going to go that way.
Charlotte DeGivre |
... the 25 point for point point buy wasn't a dead giveaway?
This is an intentionally high powered campaign, and we are planned to hit Mythic along the way.
If you're looking for a low power game, this is not it. Didn't you take a look at the recruitment and such before asking to join?
Scoundrel the Tiefling |
No its not. I made my OWN thread asking if there was a S&S game. Silver recruited me. I didnt come to the thread. And no 25 points is not a "dead give away" for a power gamers game at all. 25 points and one for one sort of was. There is no presumptiousness on my part at all. This game is too whaky. It's like you all wanted zero challenge on anything. Isn't that boring as hell?

Role play friend, not Roll play. Group storytelling, not single minded dungeon crawl. The AP is more like guidelines than actual rules. We each have epic, overarching ideas of where to go with our mythic set of characters. That is in fact the key here, we are playing mythic characters; we will be fighting mythic fights, mythic enemies, and in the end we are playing Elric of Melniboné or Gilgamesh or Heracles.
Ignatius Hank |
Umm...Silver asked you to join the game and you said yes, without reading the campaign? And who said that Silver hasn't been increasing the level of difficulty? With Mythic, that leads to mythic monsters. We're not asking for zero challenge, but when there are already crazy magical items that are in the campaign canon(I've played in several S&S campaigns, including one that was VERY fast moving), then what's the big deal?
Silver did ask us if mythic sounded fun, and I have every faith that he intends to build up the difficulty. 25 points does not mean "power gamers". It simply makes for a more robust game and requires a person who is prepared to run a game that makes that spread of points an appropriate challenge.
I don't know what has gotten you so upset over all this, but a breather might be in order.
Scoundrel the Tiefling |
Its the idea of sky pirates and such. If we get to that level of "mythic" I want it to feel appropiate at the time fighting other sky pirates or equal challening things vs flying around pwning everyone cause they are earthbound scrubs. But yes, I do have some other things going on that probably made me a bit more agitated than I should of been. If it scales like Janus said it wont be so bad, but I do feel at the moment that this crew is less dangerous and the feel we should have that we must make allies isnt quite there. They mostly feel like morons with a rare few exceptions. So thanks for being paitient with me.
And are you watching Hell on Wheels Janus? Glad to see that Thor isnt quite dead yet..

Ok, Scoundrel has officially sent me a resignation for this campaign. Odd that it seems he did not understand how it was going to go before posting in gameplay, given my instructions to read through the campaign carefully, but it is what it is. RVT has agreed to join up since she has got everything fixed in her personal life and she obviously loves this type of game.
My apologies for this situation, everyone, I was simply trying to give a relatively new player a helping hand getting into a campaign. Apparently I have been more generous than I have logical in this situation... a mistake I will not repeat during recruitment again.
Scoundrel the Tiefling |
I said IF it was a certain way. I dislike how it feels you're trash talking about me now. It's actually NOT an official resignation. Please re-add me. I explained how I was dealing with real life stuff that made me a little more agitated than I should have been and I appologize to everyone for that, yourself included Silver. My car recently had to be replaced because the engine overheated and melted. That was a lot of stress for not just me but my family who had to help me quickly find a new car.
Scoundrel the Tiefling |
As far as reading the recruitment thread though, I can't. It hasn't been there for a while now? It seems a different thread entirely about some modern arcana or something? So blaming me for reading a thread I couldn't read due to it not being there anymore isnt very fair. :-(
Divinitus |
I'm not trash-talking you. I'm simply expressing what I'm thinking. I DID ask you to read through the campaign carefully, because this campaign is different than most. YOU have been trash-talking the other PCs, who are my friends I have been gaming with for a while, talking about how they play and their characters and even my GM'ing. That is, to put it simply, bad gaming etiquette. These people would have been your teammates. While they may occasionally squabble about something or another (Mostly IC!), they have NEVER been overtly disrespectful to each other, nor to me. I hoped you would 'settle in' more and get along with everyone as you talked to them, but that seems to not be the case. So no, I'm not trash-talking at all, merely stating facts. Respectfully, if I was trash-talking everyone would know it.
And as for it not being official, your PM to me regarding the campaign was titled, 'not interested anymore'. In that message you said, and I quote:
'Your game is turning into WAY too much crazy b~~&+%#@, powergaming and just crazyness. I'm not down with it. I'm dropping out I think. That's not what I want. I WANT Skull and Shackles the way its supposed to be. I dont want flying ships and all this weirdness.'
That seems to me a very large indicator that you either want out of the campaign or you are very high risk for dropping. I was simply going by what you said and what you implied.
As for the recruitment thread, I accidentally connected it here. All of the information you needed, however, was in discussion and gameplay, which I advised you to read to get a feel of the campaign.
That said, I accept your apology and am willing to give you ONE more chance. I am normally much more lenient, but your comments towards my friends and their characters on here really rubbed me the wrong way. I am bipolar and I have been going through a LOT of difficulties in my own personal life, including medical ones, but I have not lashed out at anyone on the messageboards. I am, however, taking into account that you have been under a great deal of stress and that your Asperger's Syndrome means you have a harder time controlling yourself. So, if you agree to never act this way again and you understand and are fine with the fact that this campaign is NOT a typical S&S campaign, I will place you back in the campaign and let it be like this never happened. However, any future insults to me and/or the PCs or some other such thing will result in not only a boot from the campaign, but a flag as well. Is that something you can abide by or are you turning in your official resignation? Either way, so long as you answer yes or no politely and respectfully, I will not bear a grudge against you in either this game or any future ones.
Scoundrel the Tiefling |
I can do this yes but for my benefit, what exactly would be considered "trash talking" vs just voicing a concern or dislike? Some people I've gamed with can't even handle constructive criticism of any type while others are very laid back about it all. Obviously the things I said recently is trash talking but what about the concerns I voiced earlier about everyone trying to be the biggest bad ass? Is that trash talking? That is where I would definitely be fuzzy on.
Divinitus |
Trash talking would be ANY sort of comments about another player, their character, or the GM that is not intended to be helpful or good-natured is trash-talking. As for the biggest badass thing you bring up, bear in mind that these people are future PIRATES. What sort of pirate isn't going to try to be the biggest badass? Watch the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Only the cowardly slogs or the truly rare sort of pirates DON'T engage in these sorts of things.
Scoundrel the Tiefling |
Jack Sparrow didn't intimidate everyone he saw on sight, in fact I don't think he personally intimidated anyone. He would more trick, confuse or even make himself look weak. A pirate who tries to intimdate the wrong guy and fails is a dead pirate.
Thanks for the clarification though.

Note to Captain I believe for your sanity that it may be beneficial to not pursue the Mythic route on this AP, Pact Magic is going to be interesting as is...

Traitor! Keelhaul 'im!
Pirate >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ;>>>>> Ninja
The pirate is free to do what he wants, and gathers gold for his own enjoyment.
The ninja must obey the emperor, and is merely paid a wage.
I know where I want to be, and it doesn't involve silly little throwing stars.
Scoundrel the Tiefling |
lol must obey the emperor. Uh no. Not at all. That's a samurai you're thinking of and still not true. Plenty of times in Japan's history they had Shogunate vs the Emperor political upheavals. ;-) The emperor is just a figurehead anyway with no real power. Shogun is the real power.
Get to wear all black and kill people with cool weapons and actually take a bath? Yeah ninja is where it's at. ;-)
