"They're locathah! Though, they aren't usually this big - the must be affected by an enlarge spell of some kind."

  • Caradaeum moves in and is sure he plugs #2 with a well-placed arrow in his fish-head!
  • Linnea attempts to trip a local fish-guy, though he doesn't pull back enough to have the failed-by-10-or-more attempt to knock the instigator down!
  • Invisi-Shan requests feeling incorporeal undead peaceful passage while informing the foes to let them pass!
  • Varg swings once at the big, buzzing guy next to him, but finds there's nothing for him to hack! It is illusory, you may retcon a move action in place of the secondary attack, since your first attack Will save from the interaction of attacking succeeds.
  • Luisila fires off a number of shots at the one she's identified as real! Rapid shot 1 and the iterative connect, though they don't seem to do as much as hoped! 5 DR worked against all arrows used.
  • The room's buzzing escalates to a crescendo and abruptly crashes to silence as all the fishgentlemen but #3 disappear as the illusion covering the creatures in the room drops! Caradaeum's arrows have embedded themselves in the wall and Luisila's arrows have cut away at the sole creature's fine suit, showing unusual fleshy bits (not something a locathah would have)!  Knowledge (Arcana).

The lone creature lumbers over the table with relative ease to swing at Varg (or he moved up to it at Luisila's notation of "which ones are real and which ones aren't.")

No special attacks, but (aside from standard construct traits) it is both resistant to damage that isn't adamantine and magic in general. In short terms, Spell Resistance is bad, electricity is worse, but fire and cold are good.

I am confused...how much damage did I take, and was the possibility even a reality?

Male Bear Burglar 1

When you full attacked, I used your first attack roll as a Will save Vs the Illusion. When you full attack, you can abandon the action after the first attack and pretend like only a standard action was spent to attack once, and since your first attack was the only one needed to successfully see through it, you have the option of retconning into moving next to it, if you had wanted (or other move-equivalent action, like Guarded Stance or something.)

The crux of this issue is likely the fact I never got around to having the beast step on the table, since map editing is kind of a bit of a pain. I had rolled them both preemptively in case you were going face-tank berserker. Note that the same "hop on the table" action is likely within your statue, though a little more of a hassle (given the size difference.) You've got some acro and the chairs are there as steppy stools; you should be fine.

Map is up-to-date now, and all actions are still valid as is. Shan has likely signed up for the "I Take a Full Attack and Then Pin It" song and dance, but that's for the next turn.

  • Varg's axe and a few pokes from the adamantine needle prove enough to put the pinned creature inert!

Combat: Over!

Luisila's search turns up a few facts...

  • There are 28 fancy place settings here, each worth 25 gp (including plates, goblet, silverware, and linens).
  • Closer inspection of the suits of armor and halberds reveals they are ornamental and of no practical use.
  • The food itself is finely crafted wax, fit for one with champagne wishes, caviar dreams, and no appetite.
  • The huge portraits (each is 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide) depict Temel Passad and his wife, Umeda, and are likely worth ~5,000 gp each.
  • None of the doors (text adventure game options being the [north]ern double doors, south[east] door, [south]ern double doors, and South[west] doors) appear to be trapped.
  • Stalking, waiting, listening, the number six beast lives in secrecy.

Realized just now the wrongness of my door association, given rge strange orientation. Continuing to use this wrong (but more logical) descriptor text.

Eventually, someone opens the door to the Storage Room. This room houses the spare linens and beddings of the household, as well as other furnishing items. Many of the less intact pieces seem to be of Tien make, likely taken from the front hall. A pair of semi-destroyed curtains lazily hide a door to the north (which is technically West, but that's harder to convey with text. Hoop doop.)

A brief search shows nothing truly hidden, though there is someone seated in the adjoining new area, attempting to be quiet (which might actually work, were you less perceptive as a whole.)

After detecting magic and flicking through the ledger’s pages, Luisila looks up and shakes her head.

“This book is pretty dull. I did get excited about an odd jotting in one of the margins, but it just said:
6 + 3 = 8 … ROFLMAO, dude! We accountants are so funny!”

Luisila pronounces judgement … “Soooooo SAD!

She pulls out a vial of alchemist’s fire and seriously considers setting the book on fire out of spite, before getting over it.

She *sighs* and once everyone is ready says “So, next room?”

Take 10 Perception for traps and interesting things on the door: 10 + 19 = 29

Shan will check out the door to the east of the room they are currently in. If there is nothing of any import, he'll proceed to the southern door way out of the dinning hall.

Moving to the southern door, the single door is found to be untrapped, unlocked, and in fine condition. Inside the room (which is a symmetrical twin of the linens room plus the housekeeper room), is the meager foodstuffs of the house. Though the cutlery and containers are as exquisite and plentiful as they are confounding to those without a culinary degree, there are no items with short shelf lives in-stock, barring some fresh-picked produce (squash, pomegranates, other dry-area stuff.) In the southeastern corner of the kitchen sits a padlocked door, which Luisila barely notices is magically trapped upon opening attempts.

Oh, I forgot I actually prepared some

Caradeum examines the trapped opening, wondering whether he could try to dispel the effect.

Seems like we’re back! Yay!

Only an average cook in an environment she’s familiar with, the Ghenett Manor’s kitchen leaves Luisila confounded.

“What do you think all this stuff does? Looks like equipment Ezrek or Maaarv would use.”

She picks up a pomegranate and holds it to her nose as she looks about the kitchen space.

Not bad … Say, what’s that?

Luisila kneels down to examine the portal with Caradeum.

Sorry for my radio silence. I'm finishing up my final paper for my final class. It is due on Sunday. That, and the various Christmas celebrations have kept me busy. A bit of a ret-con.

Linnea opens up the ledgers and peruses the lists of things. "Hey, some of the vendor names in here are all tied to the A.S.S. - the Abolishing Slavery Sorority. They're a group of women that have formed a sorority for the purpose of abolishing slavery. So... there's that."

She follows Luisila and Caradeum into the room with the magically trapped door. "Well, what do you say?"

No problems; I think we've all been not-at-PFS recently.

The housekeeper explains from the floor, "The acronym is for ease of discussion. Nobody in the mistress market isn't looking for a piece of ass. Smart, no?" If only Major Colson Maldris hadn't left his position and given you with a letter of recommendation for cooperation, you might have a faction mission here or something. All that remains is the means for me to make a butt joke.

Using the roll as a Knowledge (Arcana), since this isn't being actively cast unless you really mess up, Caradaeum is only able to tell that this spell is a faint Conjuration (Creation) effect, meaning it's at least not a summoning spell and 3rd level or lower. The low power of this spell implies that dispelling is likely very possible. There is no reset functionality, so a one-off should work.

1d20 ⇒ 8 Further, those examining the door now hear that something man-sounding with wooden legs and a desire to make as much noise as possible has heard you as well.

Caradeum studies the trap's aura, mumbling to himself, and nodding occasionally. Glancing at Luisila, he shrugs. "I think I might be able to dispel the magic....., though a little luck may go a long way." Cocking his head, he adds. "I think someone or something might be down there."

Standing and popping his knuckles, he turns to his companions. "Perhaps it would be wise if everyone stepped out of the room while I attempt this." Once everyone leaves, Caradeum can be hear intoning lour, arcane phrases.

Luisila looks sideways at Linnea. "'ASS'? You're pulling our legs, right Lin?"

At Mrs Po's interjection, the priestess shakes her head. She then points an index finger at the housekeeper before making a buttoning motion on her own lips.

"You've got this, Caradeum." Luisila claps the snowcaster elf on the back as she exits the kitchen.

Caradaeum successfully dispels the effect, leaving the door to be opened.

Blindfolded, gagged, and tied to a wooden chair in the middle of the wine cellar is (most likely) Harmidio Besai, clad in a fine silk kimono of a decidedly feminine cut, patterned with lilies. In this chair is a man eager to make himself known to whomever is entering, whose bald pate is fringed with disheveled brown hair. He is slight of build, and sports an odd mustache. He is naked but for the kimono.

There is also a large number of wine bottles on racks, meticulously categorized by age and land of origin.
