Aakif moves into the room.

"Why don't we all go back to the Lodge and discuss this over a nice mug of ale. If you come down now, I'll even treat everyone to the first round! (Whispering) Ryster, if he doesn't cooperate, you get his ale if you bring him down."

Aakif readies an action to counterspell the first spell cast by the mage. Note that Aakif does not have spellcraft, so he can't identify the oncoming spell - he's just blindly using dispel magic to counterspell. GM, go ahead and roll my counterspell (dispel magic, should be d20+8) to save time if you want. If I dispel less than caster level 9, I'll use my character folio to re-roll (which you can also do, to save time, if you want).

Male Bear Burglar 1

  • Expecting negotiations to turn sour, Plan B is enacted. Brachus casts a flame spell on Varg's axe...
  • ...and Aakif moves in and readies to counterspell the easy way!
  • Hondo remains on his metaphorical perch as he does cast a really, REALLY, similar thing! Aakif CL: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 2121 - 11 = 10 He barely succeeds at Dispelling the enemy's Dispel Magic! Curse that multiclassing! Hondo is displeased, but remains in his spot, out if reach of the standard melees!

Inits!
The party is up (and entering round 2 of Purge)

Round #1: blessing of fervor (ALL 1/9 rounds) ; invisibility purge (Bray 8 minutes) ; freedom of movement (Varg 80 minutes) ; bull’s strength (Varg 1/20 rounds) ; protection from evil (from Aakif to VARG, 8 minutes) ; copycat #4 (Luisila 5/9) ☤ALL healthy.

“We’ve gotta drop him before the invisibility purge expires. Ryster is the key!”

Luisila holds her ground and *casts* blessing of fervor

Don't forget to pick one of the following bonuses each turn! You can change your choice each round.

- Increase your speed by 30 feet.
- Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
- Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
- Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
- Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.

Affects all, as everyone is within 30’ of each other

Luisila chooses - Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves, this round

Aakif looks pleased with himself for a successful counter spell.

Aakif chooses +2 to hit, AC, and reflex saves from blessing of fervor.

"Ok, last warning. Stop casting at us, and come down here! If Rhyster is like most dwarves I know, he's HOPING for that extra ale! Have you been watching us? Do you know what he can do with that gun? Seriously, I don't want to have to clean up that mess...."

Aakif will ready to cast searing light at the Mage if he begins casting anything. Again, GM feel free to roll for the to-hit and damage. (You did a great job of rolling that counter dispel!). I will use the folio re-roll this time if the to hit is less than a touch AC of 15. I should be at +11 to hit (5 base, 1 blessing of watch, 2 fervor, 3 dex).

Almost everyone moves into the room, with Aakif readying and Rhyster finally getting to fire off his gun again! The key connects!

Hondo begin to cast a thing, triggering the ready!

@Rhyster and Aakif: I just realized his block has him with Mirror Image (and his less obvious buffs that have been going because you guys are pretty bad at Stealth vs a diviner) right off the bat. If that changes your ready or already rolled attack, then don't click on the spoiler for results of against his 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 images and post what it is you want to do. I don't see a lot of other options on your guys' lists, but I wanted to be certain.

If That Changes Nothing...:
Rhyster vs images (high is good): 1d6 ⇒ 1
aak ready: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 174d8 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 3) = 10
images (6 is good): 1d6 ⇒ 4

End result: two images popped

Holding a tiny bit to ensure actions aren't changing. Data plan is resetting soon, so that's good for pacing (though work has been most unkind in that regard).

Slight change in plan. Aakif will close his eyes before casting searing light. That will make my miss chance 50/50, but I shouldn't have to deal with the mirror image. 1/2 is better odds than 1/6!

Ryster will keep his action

Male Bear Burglar 1

Indeed, it works, because you've got the move action to active Perception and you get a reactive Stealth one (as he's going to take advantage of your giving him full concealment), and then good odds of hearing the flying equivalent of "hearing a person walking,".

Stealth (only versus Aakif): 1d20 + 16 - 10 ⇒ (12) + 16 - 10 = 18 Which is beaten on a 1; no need to roll.

50/50, low is bad: 1d2 ⇒ 1

  • Rhyster pops an image, leaving 5 total Hondos remaining (including the real one!)
  • The Hondos do cast (prompting Aakif to fire a ray at the wall next to him)! He gets his casting off, filling much of the hallway and most of the hallway with Wiggly tentacles!

If someone could put a 20' burst from the southwest corner of the square up one and left one from Rhyster, I'd be appreciative. Work guest wifi seems to block part of Google Docs, but not all of it. The spaces north and south of Lu are not affected due to walls, though everyone on the ground is possibly Tentacle'd.

If a 10 + 4 + 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 10 + 4 + 1 + (10) = 25 grapples you, you are officially Black Tentacle'd and take 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 bludgeoning damage. If you pass, you're fine (though the ground is difficult terrain.)

Party is up!

Some divine intervention prevents Brachus from being grappled by the tentacles and seeing some of allies struggle with moving around the creepy crawler Brachus concentrates and extends the protection he's receiving as a favor to those around him.

Libartion domain power should kick in due to the black tentacles

Domain power:
You have the ability to ignore impediments to your mobility. For a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level, you can move normally regardless of magical effects that impede movement, as if you were affected by freedom of movement. This effect occurs automatically as soon as it applies. These rounds do not need to be consecutive.

Then using Freedom's Call (Su) as a standard

Freedom's call:
At 8th level, you can emit a 30-foot aura of freedom for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. Allies within this aura are not affected by the confused, grappled, frightened, panicked, paralyzed, pinned, or shaken conditions. This aura only suppresses these effects, and they return once a creature leaves the aura or when the aura ends, if applicable. These rounds do not need to be consecutive.

Aakif looks panicked for a moment as the black tentacles grapple him. Then he beams with a huge smile when he is freed from their grasp.

"First of all, Brachus, whatever you just did was amazing! Second, I'm getting really tired of this guy. Everyone target this moron with anything ranged that you have. There's a spare crossbow on my back if someone needs it. We need to clear these images for Rhyster. Rhyster, if you hold your fire for a second, we'll try to take down as many of these images as we can, so you have a clear shot. Please shoot this guy as many times as you can... Until he surrenders or drops!"

Aakif moves to within 30 feet of Hondo and blasts (hopefully an image) with a bolt of fire.
Blessing of fervor choice +2 to attack, AC, and reflex.

Bolt of fire: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 touch attack for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6fire damage.

@GM Burglar, did the tentacles pop Luisila's copycat image?

Health Check: Luisila and Aakif both down 9 hp from tentacles. Others at full health. Bray's faith defeated the grapple damage, as did Varg's freedom of movement and Ryster's CMD.

Round 2: (abbreviated) Blessing of Fervor 2/9 , bull's strength Varg 2/20, copycat #4 6/9 (or destroyed). Luisila chooses the +2 to AC and saves again from BoF this round.

Luisila cries out as the black tentacles begin squeezing the life from her, before Brachus' faith causes them to release her.

She blows the priest of the Accidental God a kiss, before taking a 5' step west (if possible) and unfurling the scroll in her right hand.

"Let's see if I do a better job this time, guys."

The priestess delays until the others have acted before chanting: "Si-lent night. Hooooly night ..." for a full twelve seconds.

Full round silence spell, DC 17 Spellcraft to identify. Targeting the ceiling 20' up and 5' from the centre in the direction of Hondo. Lasts 3 rounds.

@GM Burglar, I have drawn a diagram that indicates the 20' radius semi-circle would cover the whole room, EXCEPT for the three corner squares at ground level where Aakif and Bray are currently standing.

Male Bear Burglar 1

Negative on some bits:

Movements: while you aren't grappled, the difficult terrain remains for all but Brachus (because his god loves him more and gives him the full Freedom of Movement package.)
Tentacles damage: It succeeded the Grapple on the turn it was cast (except on Brachus), so the damage still happened on most of you. You not be taking damage as long as he suppresses the effect, to forward the next round for tracking purposes. Varg's DR applies, too.

Ah, right; Varg is fine as well, thanks to the casting of FoM and the grapple never having succeded. I've lost a cleric to forgetting that's 10 min/level and not precasting it before... Interactions/interjections within any of these ending bits is acceptable; I'm just getting everything out now.

Having stamped out the Shadow Lodge in Sothis, the group receives the grateful thanks of Venture-Captain Norden Balentiir and the Pathfinders of the Sothis Lodge. The former Pathfinders the PCs were able to save also express their gratitude. The Society ensures the remaining cursed items are no longer a danger and safely locks them in the Pathfinder vaults in the Grand Lodge, where security is tighter than in the regional Sothis facility.

The resident sorcerer, Zahur, disappears into the depths of the Grand Lodge for extensive questioning after avoiding any legal problems (after "object-oriented curse") was deemed the cause for his involvement.

Lazuli is not seen again and remains off the radar of the local law. She is, however, black-marked within the Society. She has, however, left message for each of the clergy (and and extra one for Varg via Luisila, not noting any holy symbols) at your respective temples, thanking you for not snitching and that you could meet her in a small village outside the city, should you desire it.

Everyone is lauded with verbal accolades for the thoroughness of the more combative issues and how they were handled.

Otherwise, the whole "Shadow Lodge" thing seems to die down, at least for now...

Day Jobs are acceptable. If already rolled, please direct me.

Non-Varg Folder for 2-20 chrons
As for Varg stuff, I need to see if I have something that can make PDFs around here; the old Adobe Elements from Over A Decade Ago is on my home machine.

Thanks everyone for an enjoyable game!

Day Job - Caravan (uses bluff) 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36

GM - Aakif will buy the party a round of drinks to celebrate their success, with a really good mug of dwarven ale for Rhyster. How much gold should I subtract? He would also like to follow up with Upsia and try to bring her back to Sarenrae. (Out of the mod's scope I'm sure...).

However much you want to spend, really; Ultimate Equipment has a big ol' Food & Drink section that is PFS-legal if you want some guidelines.

Aakif, studying the properties of the Big, Gold Pharaoh Hat of Opposite Alignment from Hondo's notes, forsees a lengthy journey before him to restore her mind, for few have the ability to grant Wishes or perform true Miracles.

Yikes. Then Aakif would try to bring her back by checking in on her regularly, explaining that she is under a magical influence, and trying to guide her back to Sarenrae.

Are you shutting this down, Burglar? It still appears in my Campaign tab.

Tek didn't check into the new one yet, except for some discussion. If he's good to find the link on his own, I can close this up.

Yep yep. You can close it. Thanks for watching out for me.
