Yep, just updated the damage on my runner. And yes, being the disarming expert is fun in this scenario. But, we could easily face another scenario that wouldn't allow Lin to play to these strengths at all. Lin is my "weirdest" concept for a character. At least, she's the only one that has multi-classed. Well, Wilhelm is a multi-class character, but the less said about him, the better.

To be clearer, the map hadn't been updated since my most recent attacks. Blue and Green hadn't moved, though, thanks to being Blind (which strangely doesn't hinder you in avoiding falling into a magic pit unless you can fail the Acro 10 and only have a ludicrously-low move speed.) Moving my discussion to discussion because otherwise I'll have big, ranty gameplay posts that have nothing to do with actual gameplay in this game or possibly at all.
Map is up to date and the $1150 has been paid to remind me that I don't know what cars do; e.g. "That chuggy noise when I turn left isn't the power steering, so that didn't get fixed."

Each goon has 3 regular daggers, a Masterwork dagger (though the Acid Bath probooooobbably didn't help Blue's dagger's condition), mwk chain shirt, and precisely 100gp each.
Dreng is unconscious, stable, and has a magic belt, performing the ever-important job of holding Dreng's pants up. Since Ander is here now, you actually have a reliable Spellcraft to ID objects! A t10 shows that this is a Belt of Physical Perfection +2 and an olde-timey sleeping getup (though I don't recommend looting him of his only clothing.)
Though before you were rudely interrupted, you were searching.
The dancing described above is, in fact, moving. Not in the "mannequins are trying to murder us" way, but more a "the horse costume zipper is stuck and I can't get out" kind of way. The doors with arrows are DC 20 easily spotted by the search party and gives an excelling hiding place inside the building that allows full visual coverage of the shop.
Additionally, there are several opened barrels hold a bluish-gray liquid. Linnea notices a remarkable similarity to the dirty blanket earlier, in regards to the spot. A DC 15 Perception Easily found is a ledger, describing how one can split up components of this injury poison (which isn't diluted by dyes.) Then, if someone wearing the fabric is stabbed a dagger covered with the other half of the seemingly-harmless juice, the juices merge and come to full effect.
... though you've heard all this before. For reference, this is where your earlier meeting with Dreng happened. A DC 20 Perception Easily found behind a loose wall panel is a hidden area.
A brief skim of the contents suggests it contains a picture-journal with over hundreds of portraits, much more than the average Life Drawing student's worth. Each drawing is of a different person, including one of Dreng. The journal has a few notes about each face, giving them name and current status (all of which read some variation of "Replaced and Killed.")
It also contains a map of some sort and a letter resealed by plain wax, bearing no symbols. It is on the Drive map.

The dancing described above is, in fact, moving … in a "the horse costume zipper is stuck and I can't get out" kind of way.
I wonder if this could be Sidri?
Luisila calls out calmly but assertively, “We are your potential saviours. Please identify yourself and any affiliations you might have.”
Beyond the panel, a hidden triangular room offers a peeping Tom’s view into two changerooms through cleverly disguised peep holes.
Luisila looks disgusted. “This is just wrong! I mean, where is the bucket to hold all the tips?”
The footlocker also contains a map of some sort and a letter resealed by plain wax.
After reading the note, Luisila draws some conclusions for the party to talk over. “So, I’m guessing this ‘Istraxis’ is the fake-Dreng. The letter suggests Venture-Plumber Nordris Kalm is actually planning to have his own son assassinated by the Skinsaw cult – presumably because he’s a Pathfinder Loyalist.”
Talk about having Daddy Issues …
Luisila puffs out her cheeks. “At this point, I’m not sure what to believe. Maybe our next move it to take Istraxis and the written evidence to the real VC Dreng at the Grand Lodge, while we check on Sidri to make sure he’s OK?”
Panfalcon Dryadson |
"The question is, did the real Dreng know what was going on hence the Pathfinders at the Outhouses?
I agree with checking in with Dreng to see what he knows but he may not be available. By the read of this letter, he may have already been abducted. If so, I believe we should visit Kalm this evening."

The entity in A3 makes a sound reminiscently familiar to Luisila's training days; a very muffled sound of exertion, likely for garnering attention. The object appears to be able to be removed safely by anyone capable of using one of the many crates as a step-stool and lifting the Large object, a task well within the purview of any good Pathfinder party.
After hefting it down, the party finds two individuals in the suit and simultaneously answers Panfalcon's theoretical; another Dreng and an unconscious and bloated Sidri. The Dreng is missing an ear and has a slash across his face, but is not dead. He is gagged and bound with three sets of rope. This Dreng lowers, but continues, his worried sound, which he matches with a worried look.

Conscious Dreng answers, trying to point the flatter half of his head to the to the dialogue. "Huh? You gotta talk at my right side; that's the hearing one. Hang on, I got the ear somewhere..." He tries to pat around his beggar-looking clothes, though finds the triplicate retention system quite thorough.
"Oh, that Gaspar Desmire business. Or Desime? Desmond? Dee-something. He was a veteran of that Goblinblood War; liked to talk about his medals." He jumps right to the third question, "Urgathoa. Wait, no, that's the third one; she doesn't have all the pieces for a full marriage. And the second one is the is the usual suspect, because what minor noble hasn't made a trip to the Chelish Embassy before the change in office there? Not that that's any of the Society's business..." Dreng chuckles.
He explains while being waiting to be freed. “An old friend of mine, Nordris Kalm, revealed himself as a member of the Shadow Lodge. He had me abducted, and replaced by a filthy doppelganger. Luckily, Sidri discovered this and tried to rescue me. Sidri’s interference made Nordris sloppy, and thankfully led you here. Something had him preoccupied enough to delay a pyre for us in the Puddles.”
"They talked about my vault and a catalogue I keep there. This catalogue, the Prospectus of Artifacts, lists the entire inventory of the Grand Lodge’s vaults. Worse, it reveals where each artifact is located, and how to bypass the vaults defenses. He had magically persuaded me to tell him how to access the vault..." Dreng smiles. "... But he never asked about my guardians."
"What's the situation on the field? Nordris left to access my vault several hours ago; Have any alarms been raises, Wayfinder lights blinking? I’ll escort you to my office for the entrance, but you need to take care of Nordris while I alert the Decemvirate members currently in Absalom and get Sidri to someplace safer.”
Luisila |
Luisila listens for just the right amount of Drengish drambling drivel in response to her questions.
She nods in satisfaction to the others. “Yep. This is the real VC Dreng all right.”
“Nordris Kalm revealed himself as a member of the Shadow Lodge.”
Luisila shakes her head. Talk about overreacting to your faction being dissolved.
“We’ve been away from the Grand Lodge for a couple of hours ourselves, VC Dreng and so are not current with the status there. Sounds like we should escort you and Sidri back there straight away. We have the doppelgänger tied up in the front of the shop. Do you need it for questioning or should Cleaver dispose of it?”
As they prepare to depart, she adds. “Is it acceptable to terminate Nordris Kalm with extreme prejudice? Is he a sword, scroll or spell? What guardians do you have at the vault?”
GM Burglar |
"What is the Shadow Lodge, you ask? Well, the Shadow Lodge is a splinter group that believes we should use the treasures we chronicle to rule Golarion, exalting us to near godhood. Only recently has the Decemvirate even acknowledged their existence publicly." Dreng nods to affirm its validity, as if it were some big secret. "Their mysterious leader, whom nobod-" Sidri jerks to consciousness, coughing up some stomach acid. Dreng's back springs to a straight position as the situation appears direr. "Sidri, don't exert yourself! Let's get you to the Lodge! I was just telling our rescuers about the threat the Shadow Lodge presents-"
Sidri interjects through strained, mushy-sounding dialogue. "Venture-Captain Dreng, I've told you before that you really should attend the debriefings or at least read the meeting minutes you just leave lying around on your desk. You're out of date..." Sidri coughs up some more juice, this time including a little redness.)
During the carriage ride, questions are answered after the Venture-Captain suggests that bonus Clawed Dreng be brought back as well for divinatory purposes. "There's spells that see through his tricks and I'm sure he has worse crimes to answer to than harassing an old man and a Pathfinder who was trying to kill him." Sidri is unhappy with such a decision, but respects it.
The guardians, Dreng explains, are usually implemented as unseen assassins known as Invisible Stalkers kn (planes), though he knows little more than that. All he knows of them is that they were installed by a not-yet-tenured Aram Zey as one of his numerous introductory self-implemented tests that acted as the basis of his promotion to "Master" and that they guard the key to all Pathfinder artifacts-in-storage.
Looking over the physical evidence, Dreng continues the answers. "Not just that; I'm officially assigning your team to personally take out Nordris Kalm. As far as I thought I've known him, he's been more a diplomat with some fencing training, not that that's an odd hobby for the wealthy. He liked to outsource his dirtier work, from what I recall."
Sidri sputters in, "The frugal bastard rarely sent anyone, unless it was me; it was all a cover for his own gain; each name was a proxy to hide the truth if anything went wrong and a layer of obscurity. It took me years before I co-" He enters another coughing fit while Dreng attempts to shush him and have him simply rest his eyes, trying to keep his current condition stable.
The Venture-Captain looks to the inquirers, "Kalm is known as a man of persuasion, but it seems he's much more than that. If the cult of Norgorber is involved, then that would explain it. I don't know what to say to expect, but it doesn't sound like he'll go without a fight. Just watch out if he's gotten into the Vault; I'm not sure what was in processing at the time, if anything, but a man with murderous intent and any relic could spell a very dangerous situation."

“Thank-you for the advice, VC Dreng.”
As the carriage bumps over the streets of Luisila's home-town, a thought strikes her. “Guys, if you like we can make a stop in the Coins district and I’ll duck into the Monger’s Mart for a scroll of communal delay poison. It will cost 75gp each and effectively make us all immune to poison while we’re in the vault. Once we’re out, we will have to deal with any effects but presumably VC Dreng will have mobilised some people to help us by then.”
The cleric thinks some more. “Not sure about dealing with naturally invisible creatures. Presumably invisibility purge won’t work. We may have to rely on area effect spells and Lady Luck.”
Luisila |
“Oh, one other thing, VC Dreng.”
Luisila is always on the lookout for juicy gossip. All the better if it involves her beloved faction head.
“I understand Zarta Draleen keeps a lippie-kissed pic of VC Valsin on her desk. Now, Venture-Captain Valsin strikes me as a straight-laced workaholic who wouldn’t have the time or inclination for the Paracountess’s games. So how on Golarion did those two get together?”
Linnea Joculus |
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Linnea is unable to offer much more insight into the invisible stalkers.
"Well, I've got glitterdust that I can cast to try and spot the invisibles. But the scroll to protect against poison sounds like a good idea. I'll pitch in for sure."
She winds up her whip and hangs it from her belt. "We shouldn't delay," she says with her arms crossed and tapping her foot while staring down Dreng, hoping for an answer to Luisila's gossipy inquiry.
GM Burglar |
"Why bother with the scroll? If any of my solo delves into, uh, Bone... Boneplace? The one siege tower that was only open for a short time... Anyways, what was I talking about?"
"Oh, right. We're going to the Healer's Ward; I'm sure there's someone there who could cast it there for you and since the closest entrance to my Vault* is underneath my desk, you should be able to get there in one casting. Maybe buy 2 if you wanted to up your time clock."
"Speaking of which, the passcode for my office door is 1-2-3-4-5." Dreng gives you all a set of directions though the labyrinth below the Grand Lodge that might take 3-8 minutes to follow, depending on how slow your slowest member might be. Just as the cart clears the front gate with reckless abandon, Dreng gets to his final point. "My door has another passcode, also 1-2-3-4-5. However, you gotta spin the dials in reverse to not spring that trap. If you're lucky, Kalm didn't figure out that half-truth. After that, the eastern door leads to the vaults."
The cart screeches to a halt, jerking everyone forward a bit. As Declan exits, he speaks to the group with one foot on the ground, one in the carriage, and a very injured person on each shoulder (unless you're going to buy the Spellcasting or Scroll from Grand Lodge contacts (good job having the most convenient faction). "The answer to your question might very well be in my library; there's a LOT of old reports there. Good luck, Pathfinders; We're all counting on you."

“Hey, thanks for the advice regarding spell-casting services, VC Dreng! Guys, the price just dropped to 30gp each thanks to VC Dreng’s generosity.”
Hmm … now who to get to cast it …
“I could probably drag Zynep out of bed (hers or someone else’s) to cast the spell for us. Don’t know how happy she’d be about it, though. I thought of Bazresh Izzakesh – remember him, Cleaver? The tiefling Sarenrite who accompanied us to Taldor. BUT I’m not sure he has enough experience yet.”
“If she’s in the Grand Lodge we could also ask … Luisila *shudders* Amira El-Amin. But we would have to put up with her attitude and make the request in triplicate or something …”
“Other than that, I’m ready to enter the Vault of Dreng.”
Zynep Ravana |
After a gently rapping, a rap tap-tapping, tapping on Ms. Ravana's chamber door, Zynep opens it while tying a sash around her robe. Not even looking up, she motions to the right and she repeats a well-rehearsed line.
"Luisila is two doors down on the right. I can't help you with your groin strain at this hour. Door doors down, she's your girl."
After receiving a familiar greeting/hrumph/slap across the face, Zynep snaps awake and welcomes everybody into her small hold within the Temple.
"Actually, I do have that spell memorized. I was supposed to help with a new fangled religious service that dealt with handling poisons animals, but minister lost his voice at the lost moment. Last I heard he was in one of the Copper Rooms in the basement getting his tongue worked out. Now let me remember how this goes again ..."
Zynep draws out her tri-daggered holy symbol. She gently lays the symbol on the recipient forearm while asking Calistra to delay any poison that may sting this body. Zynep blesses Luisila last. Unlike the other Pathfinders, it appears Zynep's holy symbol dug as a small stream of blood drips from Luisila's arm.
"Ooops," Zynep says oozing false concern. =v)
"Make sure you pay up at the front. Madam Pamodae has been auditing my books recently. She has this weird notion that my Pathfinder earning should be included in my tithe. If she wasn't half way across the sea ... In any case, have fun storming the dungeon."
I don't know if we can go 1/5ers on Delay Poison Communal or if one person has to pay all. If so, Panfalcon will do so. Otherwise, to the Stacks!

Such a grey area with little major importance in the long run, do ho ho; The full chapter in the Guide says that only if a dead/afflicted player can't afford a spellcasting that chip-ins are allowed, but Purchasing Equipment says "Remove Disease" could be buy-assisted. I'm gonna allow a split of however-many-ways is opted, since no items/long term wealth is changing hands like it would with Mwk Transformation or something (and its a paltry amount of gold anyways.)
The party finds no major difficulty purchasing the protective spell.
Dreng's instructions prove accurate, leading the group to a section of the labyrinthine underground of the Grand Lodge. The front door to the vault in question seems to have been opened the tactful way, though without enough courtesy to close the door behind them.
Inside, several wall-mounted beasts stare with dead, black eyes into this otherwise cozy room. A dire ape’s gaping maw hangs opposite a snarling worg. Under the worg’s scruff, a large, marbled hearth offers a promise of warmth, and many tables and chairs snuggle on top of Vudran rugs. Opposite the hearth, under the dire ape’s glare, a dragon-motif bar slithers for 20 feet of exotic Tian Xia inlays and carvings. A soft, yellow glow emanates from decorative blown-glass hurricanes.
Roughly 7 minutes remain on the poison resistance spell's duration.

Once ‘treated,’ Luisila opens the boudoir’s door and waves as she calls over her shoulder. “Will do, darling. Oh, and I would give you a tip, but it couldn’t possibly compare with the size of the one you got from that poxy minotaur in Misery Row. Ciao ciao.”
;)
Luisila |
Luisila decides to drop her backpack and get her remaining minutes-long buffs up before entering the trophy lounge.
She *casts* Bull’s Strength and Protection from Energy (electricity) on Varg, Had no idea which energy form to pick, Cleaver. Chose electricity in case he’s a magus.
While Ander receives invisibility. “Float like Menotherian, my friend … and sting just as hard!”
Finally Luisila copycats before entering the room with the others on the lookout for traps and trouble.
Take 10 Perception: 10 + 19 = 29

Keeping formation as per standard protocol, Varg only need step on the floor and hefore he can do much of anything, the (apparently VERY) Unseeble Lurker defends the warded area!

Unfortunately for him, Varg resists a sizable amount of damage as the Unperceptible Hunter slams into him! On the map is a burst mark from whence the attack came. Attacks carry a total-concealment 50% chance, but maintaining Stealth requires a Move Action and surprise gives only that single charge, so have at it this round.

Round #1 Delay Poison ; Bull’s Strength on Varg (+2 hit/+3 damage) ; Protection from Energy (electricity) on Varg ; Invisibility on Ander ; Bof 1/8 (All) ; copycat #2 2/8 ; ☤ Cleaver -7 hp with DR
The priestess recalls Zynep’s advice when she was trying to teach Luisila how to peel leatherheads at the Linnorm Kings Harrow card game ‘Cold Euchre.’
If in doubt lead with the biggest one you have. She *casts* blessing of fervor.
Luisila chooses +2 to AC and Reflex saves for herself.
Blessing of Fervor: Don't forget to pick one of the following bonuses for yourself THAT CAN BE CHANGED EACH TURN!
- Increase its speed by 30 feet.
- Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
- Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
- Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
- Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.
And she initially said she’d heard of the game! Yeah right …
“Cleaver, through Calistria’s Grace you can take an extra attack if you like.” Luisila then moves up 10' to stand beside the big Ulfen.
@GM Burglar, Does the +2 belt of physical perfection also give Varg an extra 7 hp?
GM Burglar |
That's the only thing it doesn't do yet; it is only a temporary bonus until 24 hours have passed. Its also halving the effectiveness of your Bull's Strength since they're both Enhancement, but, yeah.

Ander casts a spell, charging his hands with electricity, the regrips his blade. Moving past Luisila and Varg, he swings at the outlined form.

You'll need a 50/50 chance of some sort, since outlined-ness just broadcasts what square they're in (and prevents later stealth unless they can handle a -40 to the check.)

- Panfalcon hits the creature with Glitterdust (which is more effective than I thought)! The creature is blinded and outlined!
- Luisila asks for the blessings of the Savored Sting on behalf of the party!

Invisibad: 22 damage; Outlined (not invisible; just stalking)
*: This means there is one square between him and the ground. The confusion of just saying "10-feet-up" in 3D combat where folks occupy 5ft x 5ft x 5ft cubes is heinous, in my experience. Map is up-to-date on my end, by the way. Thanks, work-laptop!
Linnea Joculus |
Linnea chooses the +2 to attacks, AC and saves.
"What the what?!" Linnea exclaims as the invisible creature attacks. She smiles as Panfalcon dusts the thing with glitter. "Ooh, sparkly!"
